Chapter 1

When I found out that I had won the lottery, I checked the lottery ticket several times. I was very happy and excited, but also a little amused.

Since I was with my boyfriend Tom, I often brought the lottery tickets with the date when we were together, as a commemoration. A few days ago, I was too busy at work and accidentally bought the ticket with the wrong number. I didn't realize it until I paid for it. Since I couldn't return it, I bought another one.

On the day of the lottery draw, I only won fifty dollars with the usual numbers, but the lottery ticket I accidentally bought won the jackpot, with twelve million dollars. After paying taxes, I could still get more than eight million dollars.

Eight million dollars!

With this money, I didn't have to work in the place I disliked anymore and could switch to an easier job!

With this money, I could buy a house with Tom and get married!

I had been looking forward to marrying him. I was willing to marry him even if we were living in a rented house, but he refused. He told me that we could only marry after we bought a house.

So I could only save money desperately to buy a house because no one else could help us.

Tom's parents looked down on me because I couldn't get any help from my parents. After my parents died, my relatives took most of the compensation money and left me only enough to barely pay for college tuition, so I had no money as I had just graduated.

Tom's family background was a little better off than mine.

Since Tom was determined to marry me, his parents couldn't stop him, so they gave up. They hoped that after Tom had experienced the hardships after graduation, he would give up marrying me.

But he was very nice to me and I didn't want to be his burden.

I planned to buy the house we liked for a long time, buy him a car, and save the remaining money for future emergencies.

I searched on the Internet for how to claim the prize and what should be prepared. I read it carefully and memorized the precautions in my mind, but a question suddenly popped up: [Should I tell others that I won the lottery?]

I checked it, and the content showed the evil side of human nature vividly. The endings were bad for all of these stories. It took me two hours to finish reading all of those stories. I was already covered in cold sweats and felt chilled.

I wondered if I would also become a victim if I told Tom that I had won the lottery.

I knew my relatives were evil since I was a child. To get the compensation money, they cried and complained in front of me, saying that they were willing to raise me like their own daughter. I chose the relative who had the best relationship with my parents, but she only used a little money on me and took most of the compensation. She also pretended to be kind to me in front of my other relatives and neighbors and lied that she had spent all the compensation money on me.

It was not the case.

I looked at the lottery ticket that had only won fifty dollars and decided to test Tom.

"Ah, is today a special day? Why did you make so many delicious food?" Tom and I had always been frugal. To save money, we wouldn't buy the amount of food that was more than we could eat.

I pulled him to sit down and mysteriously took out the lottery ticket I bought, saying, "Honey, I won the lottery."

Upon hearing this, he suddenly sat up straight and looked surprised. And he also looked a little greedy like my relatives did.

His gaze stayed on my face for only a second or two, and then he focused on the lottery ticket.

"Honey, how much did you win..." he said slowly and couldn't help but smile, "Then can we get married right away?"

He didn't even glance at me when he mentioned our marriage and he sounded very different from what I had imagined. My intuition told me that something was wrong.

"I won 50 dollars..." I quickly showed him the ticket and compared it with the Jackpot numbers. I said with regret, "What a pity! The numbers are the same, only the order is different."

At that moment, he finally turned his gaze toward me, but he looked vicious. Although he said gently, I could still sense his malice, "Honey, how can you joke with me? I almost thought we could get married."

I tried to calm myself down and said, "What a pity! If I had changed the order, I would have won the prize."

I complained and looked regretful.

I could feel that he was looking at me as if he was judging if my words were true. After a long time, I felt my palms were full of sweat, and he finally confirmed that I was joking and I didn't win the jackpot. He then retracted his gaze and said gently, "It's okay, honey. It's already amazing to win 50 with 2 dollars."

He got up and went to the kitchen to get the cutlery.

I held my phone tightly, not daring to relax at all because I had hidden the lottery ticket that won 12 million dollars in my phone case.

He failed my test but showed his true side.

The compensation of half a million dollars made my relatives crazy. Considering the difference between our powers, I was not sure if I could leave here safely when Tom knew that I had won twelve million dollars.

After all, whoever claimed the prize with the ticket would get the money.

Moreover, I was not sure whether Tom would be suspicious of me after this test. Tom often checked my phone, so it was not safe to put the lottery ticket in the phone case. I had to keep it in another place for tonight.

I got up and looked for a place to hide the lottery ticket in the bedroom.

As soon as I stood up, I suddenly remembered that there was a surveillance camera in the bedroom!

Chapter 2

This surveillance only worked when it was charged, but I forgot whether it was charged or not!

Fortunately, I checked the winning information in the company's restroom.

But where could I hide the lottery ticket safely now? I hadn't claimed the fifty-dollar prize yet. If I claimed the prize, would the lottery shop owner remember me? Would he know that I was the one who won the jackpot? But I must claim the prize of fifty dollars because both of us were not generous.

Besides, I had to go to work tomorrow and he would go to claim the prize, so the owner of the lottery shop must know I was the jackpot winner.

With my palms full of cold sweat, I pretended to be calm and walked into the bathroom. I searched for the same model of surveillance on the online shop and asked the boss how to check if the surveillance was working from a long distance.

I finally found the surveillance of the same model, clicked the website, checked the details, and planned to ask customer service directly.

The answer stunned me, saying that it worked both when being charged and battery-powered!

What did that mean? Was that what I thought?

I felt chill and then extremely angry.

Why did Tom tell me that it worked only when it was charged? Whenever we had sex, I asked him to unplug the power cord. That meant when I wasn't aware, the surveillance camera was working and recording everything!

I didn't want to assume the worst of him, but I knew him too well and I couldn't even find an excuse to exonerate him.

He was very afraid of trouble. He would not try to understand things or people that he was not interested in, which meant he had planned this long ago.

Even though I wanted to go out and question him about why he had recorded it, I had to hold it back. I was a girl, if I rushed out, I would only alert and anger him. I couldn't put myself in danger, so I had to hold it back.

I felt fear after being angry. I didn't know what he did with my videos, and I had to assume the worst. When I thought about what website my videos might appear on, and everyone might ask me what was going on after watching them, I felt desperate.

"Honey, why do you spend so much time in the bathroom?" His gentle voice sounded like the horror music to me now. I was startled.

"My stomach hurts so much..." I pretended to be weak and covered my stomach, saying, "Honey, see if there is any painkiller at home. It hurts so much."

I remembered there was no painkiller at home. I had a stomachache in the middle of the night yesterday, for fear that I would wake him up, I groped in the dark to find the last painkiller at home.

"Honey, I bought the medicine for you today. Why didn't you tell me when you finished the medicine yesterday? Fortunately, I was careful, otherwise you would be in pain again."

I said to myself, "Damn it!"

I had been planning to take advantage of the time when he was out buying medicine to run away with my important cards and licenses.

Time was running out, so I stuffed the lottery ticket into the sanitary napkin and put it in the very back of the box. Fortunately, I had the habit of hoarding a lot of goods, so as long as he didn't check all of them, he wouldn't find it. Then I deleted all the searching records on my phone. It was annoying that the phone automatically recommended related topics, so I checked more websites to cover my records.

Finally, I pinched my stomach hard, the pain spread quickly, and cold sweat covered my head.

I hoped God would bless me and not let him discover anything abnormal with me so that I could spend tonight safely.

I pressed the flush button, held my stomach, and slowly walked out.

He had already prepared water and medicine on the table. When he saw me coming, he quickly helped me sit down.

"Why do you suddenly have a stomachache? Your face is pale. Did you eat something wrong today?" I looked at him blankly. He still looked as nervous as every time I had a stomachache, and his tone was still stern as if he was still the same person who loved me. Everything before seemed fake to me now.

"Why are you looking at me like that? It's no use even if you act cute now. Tell me the truth."

"Oh, I've been very busy with the project recently. I was hungry in the afternoon, so I drank milk. It was indeed cold. I know I was wrong. Please don't be angry." I took the medicine and acted coquettishly towards him.

"Honey, please charge my phone. I don't want to go to the bedroom anymore." While eating, I thought about the surveillance. He never stopped me from using his phone, and I knew all of his passwords. I had also checked all of his social media and there was nothing wrong.

Did he have another phone or another phone system?

I remembered that when he bought the mobile phone, the salesperson said that most of the current mobile phones had dual systems, but I didn't care about it at that time. I had to find a way to confirm whether his phone had dual systems now.

I handed him my phone and said, "Honey, please charge my phone. Shall we go for a walk downstairs later?"

"You're so lazy." He took my phone and got up to help me charge it.

Naturally, I took his phone, opened an application to watch a random live broadcast, and then exited it, making sure that the host's voice could still be heard.

Then I found the private section of his phone. I hoped the private section was empty so that at least it could prove that he was completely open with me and that the video was just something he shot on a whim.

Unfortunately, it was being used.

His phone had a dual system.

Well done.

I guessed my reputation had already been ruined after the videos were uploaded.

I exited it, deleted the traces, pretended to concentrate on watching the live broadcast, and gave the host a thumbs up. I had to think carefully about what the password for the other system was.

The secret lied in that system.

"What are you watching?" He hugged me from behind. His footsteps were very light, which I hadn't noticed before, but now I thought it was most likely that he had been monitoring me.

"We're running out of garbage bags at home, and we need to replace forks, toothbrushes, towels, and other items." I checked the online store and calculated the unit prices one by one with a calculator and a small notebook.

His slightly contemptuous expression was reflected in the dark screen.
