The Death Crisis After Winning the Lottery Chapter 1

When I found out that I had won the lottery, I checked the lottery ticket several times. I was very happy and excited, but also a little amused.

Since I was with my boyfriend Tom, I often brought the lottery tickets with the date when we were together, as a commemoration. A few days ago, I was too busy at work and accidentally bought the ticket with the wrong number. I didn't realize it until I paid for it. Since I couldn't return it, I bought another one.

On the day of the lottery draw, I only won fifty dollars with the usual numbers, but the lottery ticket I accidentally bought won the jackpot, with twelve million dollars. After paying taxes, I could still get more than eight million dollars.

Eight million dollars!

With this money, I didn't have to work in the place I disliked anymore and could switch to an easier job!

With this money, I could buy a house with Tom and get married!

I had been looking forward to marrying him. I was willing to marry him even if we were living in a rented house, but he refused. He told me that we could only marry after we bought a house.

So I could only save money desperately to buy a house because no one else could help us.

Tom's parents looked down on me because I couldn't get any help from my parents. After my parents died, my relatives took most of the compensation money and left me only enough to barely pay for college tuition, so I had no money as I had just graduated.

Tom's family background was a little better off than mine.

Since Tom was determined to marry me, his parents couldn't stop him, so they gave up. They hoped that after Tom had experienced the hardships after graduation, he would give up marrying me.

But he was very nice to me and I didn't want to be his burden.

I planned to buy the house we liked for a long time, buy him a car, and save the remaining money for future emergencies.

I searched on the Internet for how to claim the prize and what should be prepared. I read it carefully and memorized the precautions in my mind, but a question suddenly popped up: [Should I tell others that I won the lottery?]

I checked it, and the content showed the evil side of human nature vividly. The endings were bad for all of these stories. It took me two hours to finish reading all of those stories. I was already covered in cold sweats and felt chilled.

I wondered if I would also become a victim if I told Tom that I had won the lottery.

I knew my relatives were evil since I was a child. To get the compensation money, they cried and complained in front of me, saying that they were willing to raise me like their own daughter. I chose the relative who had the best relationship with my parents, but she only used a little money on me and took most of the compensation. She also pretended to be kind to me in front of my other relatives and neighbors and lied that she had spent all the compensation money on me.

It was not the case.

I looked at the lottery ticket that had only won fifty dollars and decided to test Tom.

"Ah, is today a special day? Why did you make so many delicious food?" Tom and I had always been frugal. To save money, we wouldn't buy the amount of food that was more than we could eat.

I pulled him to sit down and mysteriously took out the lottery ticket I bought, saying, "Honey, I won the lottery."

Upon hearing this, he suddenly sat up straight and looked surprised. And he also looked a little greedy like my relatives did.

His gaze stayed on my face for only a second or two, and then he focused on the lottery ticket.

"Honey, how much did you win..." he said slowly and couldn't help but smile, "Then can we get married right away?"

He didn't even glance at me when he mentioned our marriage and he sounded very different from what I had imagined. My intuition told me that something was wrong.

"I won 50 dollars..." I quickly showed him the ticket and compared it with the Jackpot numbers. I said with regret, "What a pity! The numbers are the same, only the order is different."

At that moment, he finally turned his gaze toward me, but he looked vicious. Although he said gently, I could still sense his malice, "Honey, how can you joke with me? I almost thought we could get married."

I tried to calm myself down and said, "What a pity! If I had changed the order, I would have won the prize."

I complained and looked regretful.

I could feel that he was looking at me as if he was judging if my words were true. After a long time, I felt my palms were full of sweat, and he finally confirmed that I was joking and I didn't win the jackpot. He then retracted his gaze and said gently, "It's okay, honey. It's already amazing to win 50 with 2 dollars."

He got up and went to the kitchen to get the cutlery.

I held my phone tightly, not daring to relax at all because I had hidden the lottery ticket that won 12 million dollars in my phone case.

He failed my test but showed his true side.

The compensation of half a million dollars made my relatives crazy. Considering the difference between our powers, I was not sure if I could leave here safely when Tom knew that I had won twelve million dollars.

After all, whoever claimed the prize with the ticket would get the money.

Moreover, I was not sure whether Tom would be suspicious of me after this test. Tom often checked my phone, so it was not safe to put the lottery ticket in the phone case. I had to keep it in another place for tonight.

I got up and looked for a place to hide the lottery ticket in the bedroom.

As soon as I stood up, I suddenly remembered that there was a surveillance camera in the bedroom!
