Chapter 1

At the wedding, my husband left me in front of everyone to go to his drunk lover.

In front of all the guests, my desperate pleas only got one response from him.

"Abigail, don't be unreasonable. Ellie is just a young girl. It's dangerous for her to be out alone. What are you worried about? She doesn't threaten your position."

Grandma was so angry that she had a heart attack. She died before she could be taken to the hospital. Her eyes were wide open in death.

My wedding turned directly into Grandma's funeral.

On the third day after handling Grandma's funeral, Levi finally came home with a faint scent. I calmly handed him a divorce agreement.

When Grandma's body was being cremated, I still called Levi, unwilling to give up. This time he finally answered.

But before I could speak, he scolded me harshly, "Why do you so rush? Is someone dead or what? I'll come back after I take care of Ellie."

He hung up right after saying that.

When I called again, my number had already been blocked by him.

There is no greater despair than a dead heart. At that moment, my eight-year relationship with Levi ended completely.

The day after Grandma died, also the second day of our marriage, I calmly printed a divorce agreement and waited at home for him.

I didn't expect to wait for three days.

Levi came back three days later, holding a cake box.

The first thing he said when he saw me was, "Abigail, what's with the expression? We'll just have another wedding. It's not like someone died."

Someone died?

I sneered coldly. "Yes, to you, anything about Ellie is a big deal. Other people, even if they die, come after her."

Hearing my sarcasm, he looked very unhappy.

He threw the cake box onto the table, coldly saying, "Ellie even remembered you and asked me to bring you a cake. I don't think you deserve it.

"Where's Grandma? She should see how spoiled you are. You're not half as sensible as Ellie."

I held back the urge to slap him.

Before, Levi loved my spoiled nature the most. He said it was the only way he could feel my constant love for him.

Now, my personality had become a weapon he used to hurt me.

I suppressed my anger and threw the already printed divorce agreement at him.

"Let's divorce. And don't mention Grandma in front of me. You're not worthy.

"From now on, you and Ellie can do whatever you want. It's none of my business."

Levi's suppressed anger was completely ignited by me. He picked up the agreement from the floor and threw it at my face.

The sharp edge of the paper left several cuts on my face.

"There's nothing dirty between Ellie and me, like you said. Don't slander us. Ellie has a good nature and doesn't care about these things. But that doesn't mean I'll let you talk nonsense.

"We can just have another wedding. If something had happened to Ellie then, could you have taken responsibility? I really don't get what you're thinking. You must be crazy to want a divorce."

Levi's handsome face was filled with anger as he pointed at my nose and questioned me loudly.

I touched the cuts on my face. They were just a few small scratches, but they stabbed my heart with pain.

I looked at him coldly. "Ellie again. Anyone who didn't know would think she's your wife. For her, you left your friends and family, ignored my dignity, and even Grandma..."

Before I could finish, Levi interrupted me in shame and anger.

"Abigail, you're becoming more and more unreasonable. Do you want to use Grandma to threaten me again? How many times do I have to say it? Ellie doesn't threaten your position at all."

As he spoke, he flipped the cake box onto the floor. The sticky, disgusting cream instantly covered my calves.

"The cake Ellie picked for you, you don't deserve to eat. Go get Grandma. There are some things I need to tell her myself. Don't think you can do whatever you want just because of her gratitude."

His cold words stabbed into my heart with every sentence.

I couldn't hold it anymore and slapped him.

Seeing his frosty face, I finally realized he was no longer the boy who loved Abigail deeply.

Now, he only cared about everything related to Ellie.

He didn't care about me, his legitimate wife, or Grandma, his savior.

Thinking of Grandma's eyes that never closed in death, I suddenly laughed.

Laughed at myself, in self-mockery.

Laughed at Levi, in sarcasm.

I took out tissues and slowly wiped the cream off my calves.

The sticky, greasy feeling of the cheap cream made my stomach churn. I couldn't help but vomit on the floor.

Levi had become so careless that he even forgot about my cream allergy and that I never touched cream.

He used to never buy desserts for me outside but always made them himself.

Now, in his heart, I wasn't even worth the cheap cake Ellie bought.

Thinking of this, I raised my pale face from vomiting and glared at Levi with bloodshot eyes, saying, "Sign the papers! No one will use gratitude to threaten you anymore. As for Grandma, I'd find it filthy for someone like you to appear before her."

I believed Grandma wouldn't want to see him either.

This time, if it wasn't to see my wedding in person, Grandma wouldn't have come from the village.

I never thought she'd come here and never go back.

Hearing this, Levi's face turned completely dark. He grabbed his gold-rimmed glasses and smashed them at my feet.

"Abigail, are you done? So what if the wedding didn't happen? Do you have to be so petty? It's such a trivial matter. Do you have to divorce over it?

"I'm warning you. If you divorce me, don't expect a penny. Think it over before you come back to me."

After venting at me, Levi turned and went into the study, slamming the door loudly.

I had been with Levi for eight years, with countless arguments. Because I loved him, I always used to be the one to back down.

He thought I would be like before, apologizing soon and telling him I spoke out of jealousy.

But this time, I didn't want to wrong myself anymore.

I went back to my room and packed a few clothes. I took Grandma's ashes in my arms and left this place that no longer belonged to me.

Chapter 2

I loved Levi for eight years. My love for him peaked the day we got our marriage license.

Then it slowly fell to the bottom after Ellie appeared.

Levi's love probably began to fade from the day he regained his memory.

If it weren't for that accident eight years ago, Levi and I would never meet.

He was a noble young master from a wealthy family. I was just a fisherwoman from a remote village.

That day, Grandma got up early to collect seafood and found Levi lying on the shore in a terrible state.

The situation was urgent. Grandma used her crude first aid skills to save Levi.

But when he woke up, he had lost his memory. He didn't remember his name or where he was from.

Levi was wearing a suit and leather shoes. Even though I had never seen such clothes before, it was obvious they were expensive and out of place in the village.

Grandma wanted to take him to the police station. Levi, in his amnesiac state, clung to Grandma who saved him.

Thinking of my parents, who were lost at sea, Grandma softened and took him home.

Then we lived together.

The first time I saw Levi, I knew the saying from the books was true.

"Beauty is a trap."

As we spent day after day together, the initial amazement turned into a burning love.

At that time, our lives were very poor. The village was remote. We often had power and water outages.

In severe times, even eating was a problem.

Although life was hard, we were really happy.

We would wait for the sunrise together every day, rush to collect seafood after the tide receded, and count the stars on the beach during power outages.

We were once each other's only love.

We thought we should be on the same household register.

So, under that starry night, we got together in that remote village.

There was no grand wedding, no complicated ceremony. It had two passionate and pure hearts.

Sometimes, I selfishly thought that if we hadn't gone out that day, maybe we wouldn't have ended up like this.

But life has no ifs.

On our way back from registering our marriage license, we had a major car accident.

Levi suffered a severe head injury to protect me.

I stayed by his side in the hospital for a whole month until he finally woke up.

I cried tears of joy, but he instinctively shook off my hand.

After a brief pause, he pulled me back into his arms. At that moment, something seemed to have changed and yet remained the same.

His chin rested on my neck. He said excitedly, "Abigail, I remember now."

It turned out he was the eldest son of the Smith Group in Jolite. He was ambushed by enemies while out at sea and had to jump into the sea as a last resort.

Later, he took me back to Jolite.

Here, the Smith family was powerful. He was the flamboyant Levi, no longer the simple and naive Levi from the village.

And Abigail from the village didn't fit in here. Everyone secretly mocked and ridiculed me. The Smith family didn't allow any mention of my existence.

After I was framed time and again, Levi finally couldn't help but coldly say to me, "Abigail, you shouldn't go out if you don't have to. You really embarrass me."

He started staying out all night socializing, stopped answering calls and texts. I saw him less and less.

The once burning hearts slowly turned cold.

Six months ago, Ellie started appearing by his side frequently.

On the rare occasions we met, Levi always talked about Ellie.

From the day Levi regained his memory, I knew this marriage was borrowed and would have to be returned.

I just didn't expect it to be so soon.

This relationship began with Levi and ended with Levi.

Chapter 3

After leaving, I took Grandma's ashes and stayed at a small hotel.

Before returning to the village, I had something more important to do.

Three days ago, Grandma had a heart attack at the wedding. On the way to the hospital, I fainted in the ambulance due to the shock from Levi and Grandma.

When I woke up in the hospital, the doctor told me that Grandma died despite rescue efforts. And, I was pregnant.

I really didn't expect to be pregnant with Levi's child at this time.

The child I had been hoping for six years chose to come to me now.

My resolve to leave wavered because of this child.

I wanted to give Levi another chance. So, I called him when Grandma was cremated.

But... this child was not meant to be with me.

Levi was not fit to be the child's father.

That day, Levi ended not only the wedding, but also our eight-year relationship and the baby's chance to be born.

Since I had decided to completely separate from Levi, we couldn't have any ties.

...

When I came out of the operating room, I couldn't help but tear up.

The three-month-old fetus was already forming. It was a girl, the girl Levi and I had longed for.

Just as I raised my hand to wipe away my tears, a strong force pushed me to the ground.

My lower abdomen, freshly operated on, throbbed with pain.

When I looked up, I met Levi's angry eyes.

Ellie stood behind him, protected by him.

Before I could react, Levi pointed at me and angrily asked, "Abigail, you are simply unreasonable. You even learned to stalk. Is this what Grandma taught you?"

Looking at his frosty face, my hand on my belly involuntarily tightened.

"Stalk?"

I let out a cold laugh. I couldn't hold back my tears anymore, and they streamed down.

"Levi, is this what you think of me?"

"Isn't it?"

Levi impatiently frowned, not giving me a chance to explain. He continued to scold, "Abigail, I'll say it one last time. Grandma's health is bad. If you keep this up, she might get angry and die one day!"

That day would never come. Grandma had already been angered to death by you three days ago.

I held my belly and struggled to get up from the ground. The chilling cold from the floor seeped into my body, making me shiver.

"Levi, shut up. Do you have any conscience left? Do you know that Grandma already..." I almost shouted. The pain in my belly made my vision go black.

"Enough!"

Levi impatiently interrupted me. His tone was full of disgust. "Abigail, don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You just want to use Grandma's kindness to gain my sympathy. I'm telling you, it won't work!

"The thing I regret the most now is that you took advantage of my amnesia to trick me into marriage!

"Who do you think you are? You're just a humble fisher girl. If it weren't for Grandma saving me, would you have married me?"

Each word he said hurt me.

My lower abdomen throbbed with pain. Cold sweat mixed with hot tears slid down my forehead. I leaned weakly against the wall. My face was pale.

"Still pretending?" Levi let out a cold laugh. "You followed us to the hospital out of jealousy and suspicion, didn't you?"

I looked at the bag of medicine in his hand. My eyes were full of sarcasm.

When was the last time Levi cared about me? It had been so long that I couldn't even remember.

Perhaps my indifferent attitude greatly provoked him. Levi's expression looked even worse.

Seeing the timing was right, Ellie slowly stepped forward, gently pulling on Levi's sleeve. Her weak voice carried a hint of sobbing. "Levi, don't be angry. Abigail might just be momentarily confused..."

"Ellie, don't speak for her!" Levi's eyes filled with more anger. "She just can't stand to see you well!"

I looked at the scene before me and felt incredibly sarcastic.

Eight years of relationship couldn't compare to his short few months with Ellie?

Men truly were fickle.
