Keeping My Alpha Seat Chapter 1

Ade's POV

I smiled as I jumped down from the tree on my feet unscathed. I dusted the dirt that was on my jeans and trousers. It had been another adventurous day in the forest. It was time to head back home.

The forest was my best place any day, anytime. There was no human around to judge me and make me feel less of a human because I was a girl. The birds sang their songs peacefully, undisturbed, while I went about my own business.

I hated the fact that I was looked down upon by pack members. I had committed no crime in being a girl. The moon goddess deemed it so and I didn't see why I should be blamed for being a girl.

My name is Adelia Tate Peterside Tumble. My father was the Alpha of the Double Moon Pack, one of the toughest and most powerful Alphas the Wolf Kingdom had. He was so powerful that it is often said that my father shifted into a double-headed wolf whenever he was in battle.

I was only a child when I first heard the rumor. I asked my father and he had only laughed about it and said nothing else.

As powerful as Peterside Tumble was, he had no male child which the pack members saw as a big problem. I was my parents' only child for a very long time until I turned ten and my mum gave birth to my younger sister Ariana.

Ariana's birth was a disappointment to the entire pack, and looking back, I realized that my parents were not too thrilled about my sister's birth, but with time, they overlooked it.

"Is the moon goddess punishing the Alpha for something? How can a powerful Alpha like him not sire a male child?" I had heard one of the Omegas say one day when I was playing at the back of the mansion alone.

"I do not think it is the Alpha's fault. It must be Luna's fault. At least she incubated the babies," another Omega had said.

"He might have to marry his first daughter to another powerful Alpha who can run the Pack when he is gone," the first Omega said.

"I don't think the girl has much sense in her head though, for an Alpha's daughter. She is always sitting somewhere quiet as if something is tormenting her, and noise and people's voices would aggravate it," the other Omega opined.

Thinking I had heard enough, I cleared my throat and they both jumped and started apologizing profusely. I had only been thirteen at the time.

I sighed sadly at the fact that my father was probably thinking too hard about the matter and wouldn't know what to do about it.

I would be eighteen in less than four months, and I could only hope I get my mate and, more importantly, an Alpha mate that we would run the affairs of the pack together.

As I saw the sky begin to darken, it would rain soon, I hastened my step. I didn't have my wolf yet, but I had the speed of a full-grown wolf whenever I decided to run.

Realizing that speed walking might not be enough, I started running. I got to the back of the house just as the first rain hit the ground. I smiled triumphantly.

I was about to open the door but the conversation in the kitchen made me stop and listen.

"The elders are trying to pressure the Alpha into taking another female. Maybe that way, he would be able to get a male child since his mate obviously cannot produce a male child," I heard one of the kitchen hands say.

"We all know that the Alpha will never take another female. He loves his Luna too much to do that," another kitchen hand said. It was true, it was an understatement that my father loved my mum. I had always wished I had a mate who would love me as completely as my dad loved my mum.

"Why can't he take another female and have a male child to continue his lineage? He is a powerful Alpha, he shouldn't allow his lineage to go into extinction. The other female might not even live with him and the Luna," I heard the head chef say.

"What do you mean by his lineage going into extinction? He has kids," another kitchen hand said in annoyance.

"Have you ever heard of a female Alpha anywhere?" the head chef asked.

"No, but it can start from somewhere," the kitchen hand, who had obviously not liked the way the head chef was speaking, said.

"You speak so gullibly Tama. Don't you know that it is the men's world? They are our superiors and we just have to respect them?" the head chef asked.

"I can't believe that a woman like you would talk down to other women. Where is your sense of self-preservation?" Tama asked heatedly.

"Mind the way you talk to me Tama. Do you think the training to become an Alpha is for females? I have heard of Alphas whose sons died in training and they had to send in another son just so they could have an Alpha," the head chef said.

"I believe that whatever it is that a man can do, a woman can do it as well. We just need a level playground to showcase what we have," Tama insisted.

"Look, I don't think I want to do this back and forth with you. I am sure that Adelia herself will not want to go to camp and train to become Alpha. She will only prefer to choose a powerful Alpha whom she will marry and help to rule the Double Moon Pack," the head chef said as if I had once discussed it with her.

"I am sure that if Adelia is given an option, she will definitely want to be the Alpha of this pack and willingly participate in the Alpha training," Tama said.

"Keep deceiving yourself. Have you taken the time to look at that girl? All she does is wander the bushes or sit quietly in the corner of the garden and sleep," the head chef said, hissing like a snake.

"No. You are the one who has not been looking closely enough. That girl has a fire in her eyes that only needs to be tapped," Tama countered.

"Enough of all this. This food is not going to cook itself, and the Alpha will be so pissed if he gets to know that you are discussing his family issues instead of cooking," the first kitchen hand that had started the discussion said, and all went quiet inside as I could only hear the sound of utensils hitting the table.

I stood there for more than five minutes watching the rain gain strength. I absentmindedly got away from the door and walked into the rain back the way I had come. Only this time, I didn't head for the bush. I walked to the streets and not minding the rain, walked to the pack's amusement park.

Suddenly someone collided with me. I was about to apologize to the person but the evil smile on her face stopped me.

"Adelia, the Alpha's daughter walking in the rain. That is Epic?" Beauty, one of the pack bitches said smiling mockingly.

"Oh, it is you? Beauty, the pack slut walking in the rain? That is epic," I said, mimicking her annoying high-pitched tone.

I didn't know why she hated me but I wasn't concerned. She was a bitch and she slept with every boy she could find in the pack. I tried my best to stay away from her and her so-called friends. They respected no one.

I tried walking away from her but she held my hand and made me stop. I could see the disdain in her eyes but I wasn't bothered.

"I heard your father was going to take another woman and have an heir by her. What will happen to you then?" She asked smirking.

"As far as you are not the woman, then I am fine," I said, smiling as I saw her smirk slip a little.

"If only you were a boy, you would have taken over from your father. What a pity," Beauty said still.

"I am a girl, but I intend to take over from my father," I said, surprising myself.

"Really? I heard that the only way you can take over from your father is to choose an Alpha or someone with powerful Alpha blood who can run the pack while you sit pretty as the Luna," Beauty said, unrelenting, even as rain poured down our heads.

"I will be the first female Alpha you have ever seen. You wait and see," I said as an unknown feeling warmed my heart and body despite the cold rain.

"Really? I would like to watch you try Adelia. The men will have you on your knees before you know what is happening. No one will support that venture, not even your father or your dumb mother," Beauty said.

"How dare you call my mother dumb?" I asked angrily.

"Your mother is wicked and dumb. Else she would have allowed the Alpha to take another woman, begged him if she had to, but her selfishness just like yours would..."

I didn't allow her to finish the sentence before I gave her a huge blow to the face. She fell on the pavement as she screamed loudly. By the time she raised her head, there was blood running down her nostrils.

I walked away from her with a new thought in my heart. I went into the amusement park and sat down on a bench. I felt invigorated as the rain subsided.

A small smile played on the side of my mouth. I had found a new purpose, and I was going to pursue it, but first, I must get all the necessary information ready.

The wolf world was about to get the shock of their lives. I was going to become the first female Alpha ever. Either they liked it or not.

"Yes," I screamed in my head. I would do it. And nobody, nothing was going to stand in my way. Not even my doubts.
