Chapter 2

In the past, I would argue and explain things to him, but now, I had no desire to talk to him at all.

He could do whatever he thought, I was tired.

"Of course not, so I'm leaving."

I turned around and left. Behind me, Blake looked at my back with a stunned expression.

This was the first time that I left calmly without crying or making a fuss for him being with Zara.

For the first time ever, Blake left Zara behind and caught up with me.

"Why haven't you contacted me for so many days? How is your mom?"

In the days when I had been blocking Blake, he would have realized something was wrong if he sent me one message, but he didn't. At this moment, he still wanted to take the initiative and accuse me from the moral high ground as usual.

"If you really care about me, why didn't you contact me?"

I was indifferent.

"I...I've been working overtime and haven't had time yet."

Perhaps he didn't expect that I, who always spoke softly and humbly to him, would talk to him like this. Blake was stunned for a moment, and the explanation he blurted out was also full of loopholes.

I didn't want to waste time with him anymore. So I brushed past him.

He immediately grabbed my wrist.

"I didn't think things through this time. I will definitely tell you everything I do next time. Don't make any fuss, okay?"

He probably thought I was still mad at him for abandoning me, so he lowered himself for the first time to coax me.

Under normal circumstances, I would definitely be comforted immediately, hug him and be cute, saying that I had a bad temper and took the blame on myself.

But now, I didn't say anything. I used my other hand to break open his fingers and tried to leave.

Blake finally lost his patience, his tone turned cold, and he lowered his voice, fearing that Zara would hear it.

"Naomi, you are already my fiancée, why are you always fighting with a patient?"

Zara had a mental illness which relapses from time to time. Blake and Zara are childhood sweethearts and had been inseparable since they were young. Both the Scott and Gilbert families felt that it was natural for Blake to take care of Zara.

I just found it funny.

Love is not about who is sick and who is right. Zara was sick, but what did it have to do with me?

Seeing that I didn't speak, Blake's tone became colder.

"I've already apologized, what else do you want?"

"I don't want anything, I'm just a little tired and want to go home and rest."

"Naomi, Zara and I are just friends. She has been in a bad state recently, so her parents asked me to take care of her. Can you be a little reasonable?"

"Blake, my mom also asked you to take care of me before she got into ICU."

I looked at Blake calmly.

Blake was silent for a moment.

I took the opportunity to shake off his hand and walked away.

Blake looked at my back and felt like there was something he could no longer hold. He frowned and called his assistant.

"Leo, contact the best oncologist in the country for consultation and perform surgery on Naomi's mom."

Chapter 3

As I walked out of the cemetery, I received a call saying that someone wanted to move my mom's urn to another place.

I ran back stumblingly.

We both had a clear understanding of my mom's illness, so I had chosen a cemetery with her long before.

"Naomi, there's no need to carve words on my tombstone. A clean one is the best."

She chose the place next to a patch of daisies. She said that there was a daisy patch on the back mountain when she was a child, and this just fulfilled her wish.

"Blake, Poppy said he wanted to be buried here. We can just give the family of the deceased some money. After all, the dead are not as valuable as real money. They will agree."

"What are you doing!"

When I arrived, Zara had already placed the white cat's urn into the cemetery, and the workers had filled it with soil.

And my mom's urn was thrown alone aside.

"Who allowed you to do this?"

Zara didn't care.

"It's not your mom in the grave, why are you in a hurry? It's too early to cry at her grave."

I pushed Zara away angrily, grabbed the shovel from the worker, and frantically dug the grave they had just filled.

"It's just a tomb. Naomi, what are you going crazy about?"

Blake grabbed the shovel and stopped me.

"Don't touch me!" I shook off Blake's hand, knelt on the ground and dug the soil with my hands.

Seeing that I was about to dig out the white cat's urn, Zara looked anxiously at Blake's bodyguard beside her.

"What are you looking at? Stop her! Poppy has just been laid to rest!"

Blake's bodyguard held me down.

My face was pressed firmly into the wet dirt.

"Tell them to let me go." I stared at Blake.

"Naomi, your playing hard to get tactics won't work on me. You just pushed Zara. Apologize to her." Blake looked at me coldly.

"You wish!" I gritted my teeth, wishing I could tear Zara to pieces.

Zara pretended not seeing it. She patted Blake.

"Forget it, Blake. Some friends and I have seen what Naomi is like over the years. But I have to remind you that if such a person with bad manners really became Mrs. Gilbert, the Gilbert Group would be laughed at by everyone in Albany."

"My fiancée is not for anyone to gossip."

Zara was stunned when she heard Blake's words and bit her lip unwillingly.

Blake looked at me, as if he wanted me to compromise like every time before.

"Naomi, we're getting married next month. Just apologize to Zara and I'll pretend nothing happened."

"No, and I will not marry you." I tried to struggle, but to no avail.

"Do you think the Gilbert Family is somewhere you can come and go as you please? Naomi, it seems that you haven't learned enough lessons."

Blake sneered and took out his phone, apparently trying to threaten me.

He had done this kind of thing before. In order to make me apologize to Zara, he would not go home for a month, allow reporters to take intimate photos of him and Zara together, and watch others humiliate me with it.

But now, I didn't want him anymore, so he no longer had any tricks that can restrain me.

"Leo, suspend the surgical consultation of Naomi's mom."

I looked at Blake calmly.

When I first learned that my mom was sick, I begged him to find specialists for consultation. However, he was fighting with me because of Zara, so he ignored my request. As a result, my mom missed the best treatment time.

He knew what I cared about the whole time.

But he never cared about what I cared about.

"Naomi, apologize to Zara. I can have them continue to treat your mom."

After staring at Blake for too long, my eyes felt a little sore, so I looked away.

"Blake, if I don't apologize, will you really not save my mom?"

After a long while, Blake answered,

"No."

Seeing my embarrassed appearance, he felt something strange in his heart, and he waved his hand to ask the bodyguard to let me go.

Zara came forward unwillingly and interrupted Blake who was about to speak.
