Win His Heart in One Fell Swoop! Chapter 1

My mom suddenly became seriously ill, and Albany was hit by a once-in-a-century snowstorm. I couldn't drive, so I could only asked Blake to drive me to the hospital.

A few minutes before departure, Blake suddenly broke the promise, he said that he had something to do at the company.

I stood awkwardly in the snow at a loss.

The road was empty and I couldn't even get a taxi. By the time I staggered through the snowstorm to the hospital, my mom had already passed away.

That night, when I knelt in front of my mom's mourning hall, I finally received a call from Blake.

Blake was drunk and called his first love's name over and over again.

Zara, Zara...

Before the call was hung up, I clearly heard Zara's voice in the receiver.

At the most desperate moment in my life, Blake stayed by his first love's side.

With trembling fingers, I sent a message to Blake: [Is this why you left me behind?]

I knelt in the mourning hall all night, and it was not until the evening of the next day that Blake replied to my message: [You could do it alone, but she couldn't without me.]

***

[Blake, I want to cancel our engagement.]

I had a crush on Blake for a year, pursued him for four years, and was with him for three years. The most precious years of my youth were wasted on him. I always thought that as long as I tried hard enough, I would be able to see the light.

Blake was a specially privileged person. He had social gatherings when he was in school, he had meetings one after another when he started working, so I couldn't be unreasonable.

I fixed the broken water pipe myself, called 911 myself when I was in so much pain during my period. And I couldn't even tell him when I broke my leg, so I used a crutch to deliver files to him. I was very cautious and I never dared to hold Blake back because of my own matters.

But now these had become his reasons to leave me in the snowstorm to find his first love.

I blocked Blake's number and started to deal with my mom's funeral.

I arranged everything according to my mom's last words and stayed in the cemetery for a long time. When I was about to leave, I suddenly saw Blake and Zara.

"Blake, do you think Poppy will like this place?"

Zara was holding an urn in her arms.

I wanted to go around, but Blake had already seen me.

He paused slightly, and he unconsciously frowned, as if I had committed some terrible mistake by appearing here.

"Why are you here?"

It was such a coincidence that we met in a cemetery. Blake naturally thought that I followed him here.

I didn't want to waste time with him, so I looked away and turned to leave. But Zara stopped me.

Her smile was bright, with a hint of provocation.

"Naomi, don't get me wrong. I picked up a little white cat that was hit by a car on the road the other day. I was desperate, so I called Blake and asked him to take me to the pet hospital. Unfortunately, Poppy couldn't be rescued, so he came here with me today."

I looked at Zara, not understanding why she told me this. After all, Blake and I had nothing to do with each other anymore.

"Do you need me to applaud you?"

"Naomi, do you have to be so aggressive?"

Blake protected Zara behind him as always, as if I had bullied her.
