Chapter 3

On the fourth day after I moved out from the villa to my mother's old house, I chose a cemetery and was about to bury my mother's urn.

As soon as I opened the door, Luna's cold and beautiful face came into my sight.

Lando was standing next to her, followed by four bodyguards.

Luna hurried into the house and searched everywhere.

In the end, she returned to me and asked, "Where's Mom?"

I looked at the urn wrapped in black cloth in my hand and said in a low voice, "It's too late for you to think of looking for her!"

Luna frowned slightly and there was a flash of anger in her eyes. "Where did you hide her?"

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Don't you know? Lando's already in poor health. Why would Mom steal his special medicine formula? That can save his life!"

"Do you hate him that much?"

Luna's words made me heartbroken.

I thought that Luna had come to see my mom in such a big way because she realized that she had gone too far in her game, so she came to apologize.

Or perhaps she came to repent after knowing that my mother had passed away.

However, I didn't expect that she would come to blame my mother for Lando.

That was ridiculous.

Not only did she kill my mother, but she also slandered her.

I stared coldly at Luna and sternly stated, "I don’t care if you want to protect Lando. However, don't slander my mother."

Luna showed her phone to me and said coldly, "Take a look for yourself."

A surveillance video was displayed on the phone.

In the video, a woman looked around before entering Lando's villa.

A few minutes later, she sneaked away with something in her hand.

The woman in the video was very similar to my mother in terms of dress, figure, and even profile.

After playing the video, Lando said, "After your mother sneaked into my house yesterday, my special medicine formula disappeared. Chris, I didn't provoke your mother, did I? Is it necessary for her to kill me?"

Lando was suffering from severe asthma. The special medicine he mentioned was the suppressing medicine that he had to take every time he had an attack.

It was said that the formula was unique and priceless.

If the formula was lost, Lando would lose his life-saving medicine. This was indeed terrible.

But I knew he hid the formula himself.

"I told you that I only treat Lando as my younger brother. Why don't you believe me? Why did Mom steal his special medicine formula?"

Luna's tone was filled with disappointment. It was as if she had already confirmed that my mother was a thief.

I looked at her and said sadly, "Luna, you and my mother were so close. Don't you know what kind of person she is? Do you think she would steal anything?"

Hearing my words, Luna's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly. It seemed that she was moved.

Seeing this, Lando spoke at the right time.

"Don't quibble. I met your mother outside when she came out of my house yesterday. I asked her why she came to my house. She said that she came to find Luna and glared at me!"

"There are witnesses and material evidence. Do you still want to cover her up?"

Upon hearing this, Luna's face immediately turned as cold as ice.

"Hurry up and ask Mom to hand it over. It's about Lando's life. You can't joke with his life."

Lando was obviously lying. My mother had been dead for a week. How could he have seen her yesterday?

But Luna still believed Lando's nonsense.

For so many years, my mother had always regarded her as her own daughter and taken care of her carefully.

But what did she get in return?

She was vilified as a thief.

How ridiculous it was.

My mother's hard work over the years was no match for a casual sentence from Lando.

My mother was still thinking about her even until she died.

At that moment, I really felt sorry for my mother.

My heart was completely dead.

Since Luna trusted Lando unconditionally, it was useless for me to say anything.

Forget it.

I didn’t want to waste any more time. Without further ado, I walked past Luna and left.

Lando chased me out of the courtyard and grabbed me. "Do you want to leave after stealing something? Ask your mother to hand over my things!"

I looked at Lando and said bitterly, "Lando, if you want to be a mistress, I don’t mind. But don't use my mother as a tool."

"You know very well whether or not my mother stole your formula. You're doing this because you want to be with Luna. I'll fulfill your wish."

"I've already signed the divorce agreement. As long as Luna signs it, you can be together openly."

After that, I shook him off and went straight away.

However, Lando continued to shout, "Chris, don't twist the facts. A thief is a thief. From the moment your mother stole my formula, she was destined to be like a stinky mouse in the sewer, forever despised by others!"

I came to a sudden halt, anger burning in my heart.

Clenching my fists, I turned around and swung my fist at Lando's face.

Bang!

Lando staggered backward by the punch.

"Chris, what are you doing?!"

Luna shouted at me angrily and then supported Lando with her hand.

"I want to beat him to death!"

With reddened eyes, I roared and ran at him again.

My mother had died in their game.

Lando was still slandering my mother and humiliating her with such harsh words.

I couldn't take it anymore.

At that moment, I had almost lost my mind. All I wanted to do was to beat him up.

"Stop him!"

Seeing this, Luna immediately gave the order to the bodyguards.

The two bodyguards stepped forward and grabbed me tightly.

Luna glared at me and coldly said, "Although Lando's words are a bit excessive, you can't hit him."

"Apologize to him now!"

"Never!"

I retorted without hesitation resolutely.

In the past, I would do whatever Luna asked me to do.

That was because I loved her, cared about her, and didn’t want to make her angry.

But now, I had nothing more to care about.

Lando covered his face, glared at me, and said resentfully, "I don't need his apology. I just want him to pay me back double!"

Hearing this, Luna glanced at me as if she was telling me that if I gave in now, she would stand on my side.

However, I looked firm and I had no intention of backing down.

Seeing that I was stubborn, Luna frowned again with displeasure.

She stopped talking and allowed Lando to walk toward me aggressively.

As soon as he was in front of me, he punched me hard in the stomach with all his strength.

His punches were filled with endless rage and he exerted an extremely great amount of strength.

I felt dizzy and my body went limp as I fell to the ground.

I smashed the urn in my hand.

Ashes scattered all over the ground.

It reflected a pale light that stung my eyes.

I was dumbfounded in an instant.

Watching my mom pass away had been excruciating. Now, I couldn't even keep her ashes.

I hated them so much!

God seemed to be opposing me as well. At that moment, a gust of wind blew.

The ashes scattered all over the ground were blown away by the wind in an instant.

"No! No!"

Like a madman, I reached out to grab the ashes floating in the air.

But how could I hold the dust in my hand?

The ashes gradually disappeared in front of me.

As the last thing my mother left in this world left me, tremendous guilt and pain surged in my heart.

I felt like I was going to break into pieces.

I lay on the ground and gathered the ashes that hadn't been blown away with my hands.

Tears of despair kept falling from my eyes.

"Chris, are you serious? I just punched you a few times. Why are you acting so pitiful with the lime? You don't have to play such a trick to protect your mother."

Lando cursed at me with disdain.

My ears buzzed. Ignoring everything else, I continued to collect the ashes on the ground and put them into urns.

"That's enough, Chris. Don't you find it disgusting to cry in front of such lime?"

Luna looked down at me and said helplessly, "Instead of acting like a lunatic, you’d better ask your mother to hand over Lando's things as soon as possible."

I glared at Luna with bloodshot eyes and cursed hatefully, "Luna, you're heartless!"

"Luna, you used to say that Chris and his mother were very kind to you. I don’t think so. Look at them. One of them is secretly doing illegal things, and the other is rude to you in public. Both of them are not good people."

A trace of anger appeared on Luna's dark face when she heard this.

She stepped forward on my mother's ashes and said coldly,

"I've always felt that your mother was honest, simple, and kind. I treated her as my own mother."

"I didn't expect that she would steal the formula."

"Since you're playing dumb and refuse to hand her over, I'll find her in my own way!"

As she spoke, she took out her phone and ordered coldly, "Jake, do whatever it takes to bring Chris’s mother here."

On the other end of the line, Jake paused for a moment and then stammered, "Miss Noris, don’t you know that his mother has passed away?"

Luna's expression froze. She asked in disbelief, "Wha-what? Say that again?"

"Chris's mother passed away a week ago on the way to buy you a durian cake.
