Chapter 1

On a rainy day, my wife called my mother to ask her to buy a durian cake.

On my mother's way to buy the durian cake in the heavy rain, she had a serious car accident.

When I received the news and rushed to the hospital, my mother was on her last breath.

"Luna said she wanted to eat durian cake. Give it to her quickly..."

Before she could finish my words, my mother passed away.

When she died, she was still holding the durian cake tightly in her hand.

With tears streaming down my face, I called my wife more than a dozen times and she finally answered. However, she asked, "What posture do you like the most?"

Listening to the laughter coming from the other end of the phone, I couldn't help but roar, "Luna, you hate durian cake the most. Why did you ask my mother to buy one?"

The person who replied was her childhood sweetheart, Lando. "I'm sorry, Chris. I lost the game and Luna took the penalty for me, so she asked your mother to buy a durian cake. Blame me!"

I wiped away my tears and said coldly, "Please tell your woman to find time to come back and divorce me."

Luna comforted Lando in a gentle voice. After a long while, she replied impatiently, "We can divorce, but don't make things difficult for Lando."

——

I silently dealt with my mother's funeral.

For the next three days, Luna seemed to have vanished from the earth. She didn’t make a single message or phone call.

In fact, I didn't expect her to do anything.

I just felt sorry for my mother.

"I'm so tired. Honey, get me a basin of foot-washing water."

Three days later, Luna finally returned home.

She kicked off her high heels and lay on the sofa.

It was as if she was exhausted.

In the past, I would be as active as a dog.

I would fetch her water, wash her feet, and massage her with a cheap smile to relieve her fatigue.

But this time, I sat on the sofa and was still immersed in the sadness of my mother's death. I did not look up at her.

After waiting for a long time, Luna turned to look at me as if she had realized something.

She smiled ingratiatingly and said, "Are you still angry about the game last time? There's no need to get angry with me over such a trivial matter, is there?"

I looked at her and said sadly, "A trivial matter? Do you think it's a trivial matter to play with my mother on a rainy day and let her buy what you hate the most?"

It was her so-called trivial matter that killed my mother!

At the thought of my mother still thinking about giving Luna the durian cake even at the end of her life, my heart felt like it was being twisted by a knife.

Seeing that I suddenly became excited, Luna was stunned. She asked, "Is Mom angry? It's okay. I'll coax her when I have time. She loves me the most and will definitely forgive me."

After that, Luna threw an exquisite gift box in front of me.

"I specially bought you a gift. Do you like it?"

I glanced at the packaging and saw that it was a man's watch.

She said that she bought it for me.

But it had obviously been unsealed.

If I remember correctly, this watch appeared on Lando's Instagram two days ago.

The caption was, "The person who loves you always feels that it's not good enough for you."

The attached picture was a photo of Lando wearing a limited edition watch. In the corner of the photo, there was a watch in the trash can.

That was the one that Luna had given me.

What a joke.

She gave me the one that was thrown by others.

I laughed at myself and asked, "When are we going to get a divorce?"

Luna's face darkened. She frowned and looked at me. "You're not done yet, Chris, are you?"

"We can divorce unless Mom talks to me in person. I don't believe that she will agree to our divorce."

After that, Luna got up, slammed the door, and stormed into the bedroom.

I knew that she was waiting for me in the room to bow my head and apologize.

In the past, every time we quarreled, she was always like this. No matter who was at fault, I would humbly beg for peace.

But this time, I wouldn’t do that again.

I took out the divorce agreement from the drawer and signed it quickly.

Then, I left decisively with my luggage.

Chapter 2

I knew Luna because of my mother.

At that time, Luna was still in college. She secretly drove her father's car without a license and knocked down my mother.

She was so scared that she immediately got out of the car to check on my mother's condition.

She kept begging my mother not to call the police and said that she would pay any amount of money.

My mother endured the pain and got up. Looking at Luna's guilty and scared face, she forgave her.

So she waved her hand and went straight home without calling the police or asking for compensation.

I was heartbroken and angry when I saw my mother's injuries.

I wished I could give the perpetrator a good beating.

The next day, Luna came to visit my mother with a lot of gifts.

My mother was very gratified, but I didn't treat her well and even targeted her.

Luna didn't mind my attitude and put down her airs as a noble lady.

She took care of my mother carefully at my home.

She said that my mother was the most innocent and kind person she had ever seen.

Such a person deserved to be treated well.

She came here almost every day.

Every time, she would bring all kinds of nutritional supplements and exquisite and expensive gifts.

Some were for my mom, and some were for me.

She got along more and more well with my mother. They could talk and laugh all day, as close as mother and daughter.

The neighbors all envied my mother for finding such a filial daughter-in-law.

Every time Luna heard this, she smiled and didn't refute it.

But I was still making things difficult for her as usual...

One day, I stopped Luna outside my house and said unhappily, "Luna, can you not come to my house? Don't you hear that others have misunderstood you as my girlfriend? How can I find a girlfriend like this?"

Luna smiled. "Let's date. That way, no one will misunderstand us."

"Stop joking," I said coldly. "It's not funny at all."

Luna pinched my chin and pressed me against the wall. "I'm not joking. Other men are trying their best to please me and flatter me. You're the only one who ignored me from beginning to end. You're very special. I like you. Be my man. I will treat your mother as my own and take good care of her for you."

In response to Luna's sudden confession, I unexpectedly nodded my head. "Okay."

Only then did I realize that I had fallen in love with Luna at first sight.

I made things difficult for her not because of hatred, but because of love.

My mother was so happy to know that we were together. I had never seen such a big smile on her face since my father's death.

She always told me that I was too lucky to get such a good wife.

On the day of our marriage, my mother warned me very seriously that if I let Luna down, she would break my legs.

Actually, even without my mom telling me, I would treat Luna well.

To me, she was my lover, my family, and a pleasant surprise to me.

After we got married, Luna was the most important person to me and I took good care of her.

At that time, she was also very clingy to me.

We were deeply in love with each other and lived a happy life.

But this happiness came to an end after Lando returned to the country.

He was Luna's childhood sweetheart and an irreplaceable existence in her heart.

She paid more attention to Lando than to me.

“Lando has just returned and needs me. I won't be home these days.”

“Lando caught a cold. I'll bring him the medicine. You guys can celebrate your birthday yourselves.”

“Lando is in poor health and can't live without me. Please be considerate...”

Luna could always let her give up everything and rush over by a phone call.

As long as I asked one more question, I would be making trouble out of nothing.

I was often depressed because of this.

But I endured it again and again, in order not to make my mother sad and to keep the family.

Most importantly, I endured it because I loved Luna.

I thought that as long as I maintained this family, it would be as peaceful and stable as before.

But I was wrong.

My tolerance resulted in Luna treating me with even less concern.

This time, my mother was killed in a game between her and Lando.

I was filled with grief and despair.

As my mother was cremated, my love for Luna also turned into ashes.

Chapter 3

On the fourth day after I moved out from the villa to my mother's old house, I chose a cemetery and was about to bury my mother's urn.

As soon as I opened the door, Luna's cold and beautiful face came into my sight.

Lando was standing next to her, followed by four bodyguards.

Luna hurried into the house and searched everywhere.

In the end, she returned to me and asked, "Where's Mom?"

I looked at the urn wrapped in black cloth in my hand and said in a low voice, "It's too late for you to think of looking for her!"

Luna frowned slightly and there was a flash of anger in her eyes. "Where did you hide her?"

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Don't you know? Lando's already in poor health. Why would Mom steal his special medicine formula? That can save his life!"

"Do you hate him that much?"

Luna's words made me heartbroken.

I thought that Luna had come to see my mom in such a big way because she realized that she had gone too far in her game, so she came to apologize.

Or perhaps she came to repent after knowing that my mother had passed away.

However, I didn't expect that she would come to blame my mother for Lando.

That was ridiculous.

Not only did she kill my mother, but she also slandered her.

I stared coldly at Luna and sternly stated, "I don’t care if you want to protect Lando. However, don't slander my mother."

Luna showed her phone to me and said coldly, "Take a look for yourself."

A surveillance video was displayed on the phone.

In the video, a woman looked around before entering Lando's villa.

A few minutes later, she sneaked away with something in her hand.

The woman in the video was very similar to my mother in terms of dress, figure, and even profile.

After playing the video, Lando said, "After your mother sneaked into my house yesterday, my special medicine formula disappeared. Chris, I didn't provoke your mother, did I? Is it necessary for her to kill me?"

Lando was suffering from severe asthma. The special medicine he mentioned was the suppressing medicine that he had to take every time he had an attack.

It was said that the formula was unique and priceless.

If the formula was lost, Lando would lose his life-saving medicine. This was indeed terrible.

But I knew he hid the formula himself.

"I told you that I only treat Lando as my younger brother. Why don't you believe me? Why did Mom steal his special medicine formula?"

Luna's tone was filled with disappointment. It was as if she had already confirmed that my mother was a thief.

I looked at her and said sadly, "Luna, you and my mother were so close. Don't you know what kind of person she is? Do you think she would steal anything?"

Hearing my words, Luna's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly. It seemed that she was moved.

Seeing this, Lando spoke at the right time.

"Don't quibble. I met your mother outside when she came out of my house yesterday. I asked her why she came to my house. She said that she came to find Luna and glared at me!"

"There are witnesses and material evidence. Do you still want to cover her up?"

Upon hearing this, Luna's face immediately turned as cold as ice.

"Hurry up and ask Mom to hand it over. It's about Lando's life. You can't joke with his life."

Lando was obviously lying. My mother had been dead for a week. How could he have seen her yesterday?

But Luna still believed Lando's nonsense.

For so many years, my mother had always regarded her as her own daughter and taken care of her carefully.

But what did she get in return?

She was vilified as a thief.

How ridiculous it was.

My mother's hard work over the years was no match for a casual sentence from Lando.

My mother was still thinking about her even until she died.

At that moment, I really felt sorry for my mother.

My heart was completely dead.

Since Luna trusted Lando unconditionally, it was useless for me to say anything.

Forget it.

I didn’t want to waste any more time. Without further ado, I walked past Luna and left.

Lando chased me out of the courtyard and grabbed me. "Do you want to leave after stealing something? Ask your mother to hand over my things!"

I looked at Lando and said bitterly, "Lando, if you want to be a mistress, I don’t mind. But don't use my mother as a tool."

"You know very well whether or not my mother stole your formula. You're doing this because you want to be with Luna. I'll fulfill your wish."

"I've already signed the divorce agreement. As long as Luna signs it, you can be together openly."

After that, I shook him off and went straight away.

However, Lando continued to shout, "Chris, don't twist the facts. A thief is a thief. From the moment your mother stole my formula, she was destined to be like a stinky mouse in the sewer, forever despised by others!"

I came to a sudden halt, anger burning in my heart.

Clenching my fists, I turned around and swung my fist at Lando's face.

Bang!

Lando staggered backward by the punch.

"Chris, what are you doing?!"

Luna shouted at me angrily and then supported Lando with her hand.

"I want to beat him to death!"

With reddened eyes, I roared and ran at him again.

My mother had died in their game.

Lando was still slandering my mother and humiliating her with such harsh words.

I couldn't take it anymore.

At that moment, I had almost lost my mind. All I wanted to do was to beat him up.

"Stop him!"

Seeing this, Luna immediately gave the order to the bodyguards.

The two bodyguards stepped forward and grabbed me tightly.

Luna glared at me and coldly said, "Although Lando's words are a bit excessive, you can't hit him."

"Apologize to him now!"
