Chapter 1

My daughter, Vivian Montiago, is born with a heart condition. To protect her, I decide to spend 200 million dollars on building a prestigious preschool for her in the company's park.

I don't want her to be lonely, so I also decide to allow the other employees' children to attend the preschool for free to keep Vivian company.

However, on the first day of preschool, Vivian's smartwatch alert keeps going off.

When I rush over to the preschool, I find out that Vivian is all tied up and left to die under the hot afternoon sun. Her skin is red and blistering, and her lips are purple as she teeters on the edge of death.

"Are you all blind? Call the ambulance!" I yell in anger, grabbing Vivian and rushing out of the place.

However, Hailey Lester, my husband's secretary, gets in my way.

"You seduced my husband and birthed an illegitimate child. How dare you try to get away without being punished?" she screams, slapping me hard in the face.

"I'm telling you that this preschool is a gift to me and my son from Rhett! And you're not allowed to step out of this place without my explicit permission!"

"Her life is in danger! We'll talk about that later!" I exclaim, not wanting to argue with her. However, she kicks me to the ground and says, "So what if his bastard daughter dies? He can have a daughter with me if he really wants one!"

The company employees don't seem to care about Vivian's health condition at all. They point at me and say, "Ms. Lester is Mr. Montiago's beloved wife, and she also owns this place! You're nothing but a homewrecker trying to take advantage of the free preschool program. Get down and apologize at once!"

Fine. Since everyone is as blind as my husband, Rhett Montiago, in realizing who the real deal is, I decide that I am not sparing a single one of them.

If my daughter, Vivian Montiago, weren't in huge danger, I would have made my husband, Rhett Montiago, get his ass over here and explain the situation to the rest of the blind employees while on his knees.

I wanted him to explain why someone as uncivilized as his secretary, Hailey Lester, actually dared to wear the luxury clothing and jewelry she stole from me while parading herself as the real Mrs. Montiago at the preschool that I built.

The Montiagos were only able to make their fortune entirely because of me. Since Rhett didn't know how to be a good house-husband, instead choosing to fool around with his secretary and have a son behind my back, I wouldn't hesitate to destroy the Montiagos.

The only problem was that Vivian's life was in great danger now, and I didn't have the royal time to deal with the revolting couple. I had to get Vivian to the hospital as quickly as possible.

I quickly and painstakingly wrapped Vivian up in my coat so that I could bring her to my car.

"Try to run after causing such a huge fuss?" the employees screeched, running after me. "Are you deaf? She told you to get down on your knees and apologize!"

"I've seen countless shameless people, but none of them as shameless as you!"

They surrounded me in a tight circle and refused to let me take another step forward.

I felt my chest tighten when I heard Vivian's breathing getting quicker and shallower by the second. She had been born with a heart defect, and the longer we delayed, the closer she would be to death.

Still, I suppressed my anger and said, "If you let me go now, I will forget all the things you've done to me today."

I had already planned to get the entire business industry to blacklist all these people. However, if they repented and let me go, I would still be willing to spare them.

"Hahaha!"

Instead, I'm met with the sounds of cruel laughter. "You're just a mistress; a homewrecker. Who do you think you are? You're not even worthy to lick the dust off our feet!"

"You'd dirty the floors with your filth even if you were the office cleaning lady!"

I frowned when I heard their insults. All this time, I thought that Rhett had been good at managing his employees. I never thought that the people he'd hired at his company would end up being less civilized than the gangsters on the street.

I didn't want to argue with them anymore. I took out my phone to call my private hospital and request a helicopter to save Vivian's life.

"You little bitch! How dare you ignore me!"

Just as the call connected, Hailey suddenly rushed over, snatched my phone away, and flung it to the ground, where it smashed into pieces.

As it turned out, she had been waiting for me to drop to my knees to beg her for mercy, but I'd been so worried about Vivian that I never heard a word she said.

She was so angry that she immediately instructed her bodyguards behind her to grab hold of me.

"Beat her up!" she screeched, gritting her teeth in anger. "Slap the living daylights out of this filthy bitch's mouth!"

"We are living in a society governed by the law. You can't lay a finger on me," I warned. After all, she wouldn't be able to face the consequences if she really were to offend me.

"Law?" Hailey scoffed mockingly. "This is my territory, and my word is the law! Beat her up!"

The bodyguards shoved me to the floor. I instinctively curled up around Vivian, protecting her with my body as dozens of feet started kicking and stomping on my stomach.

I tried my best not to cry out in pain, but it only made them abuse me even harder than before.

Suddenly, there was a shrill beeping sound.

Hailey, who'd been clapping her hands and enjoying my torment, suddenly froze in surprise, along with her bodyguards.

"What's that sound?" she asked, a look of fear surfacing in her eyes. "What the hell did you do?"

I raise my bruised arm with much difficulty.

"You had all better stop now," I said. "My smartwatch will alert the police when it senses that my life is in danger. And none of you can afford to bear the consequences later."

The safety system on my watch had been specifically designed for my safety, and no one here could ever guess the powerful person responsible for it.

"I recognize the brand of her smartwatch. One costs at least a few hundred thousand dollars," one of the employees said. He then told Hailey, "What if she's telling the truth? Let's just forget about it."

Chapter 2

"So what if her watch is the real thing?" Hailey screeched at the top of her lungs. "She only has it because she seduced my husband into buying it for her!

"It's just a stupid watch that alerts the police. Did you think I'd be afraid of that?" she scoffed in disdain. "The Montiagos are the biggest force in this city, and everyone has to treat them with respect, even the authorities!

"My husband can deal with the consequences of getting rid of a bitch like you! He can afford to pay you off!"

Hailey continued screaming as she suddenly yanked my hair and slapped me across the face.

I immediately tasted blood. And with her starting the violence, everyone else began kicking, punching, and slapping me fearlessly.

The alarm on my smart watch got louder and louder.

"Jessica Stallone! What the hell are you trying to do?"

A long while later, Rhett's voice suddenly sounded from my watch.

I shuddered hard. Suddenly, I recalled that I had set him as my primary emergency contact. My smartwatch must have automatically called him to come and save me.

"Vivi's going to die!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "If you don't hurry here, Hailey is going to kill both Vivi and me!"

Rhett took a deep breath and descended into silence.

I quickly said, "I'm at the preschool! Hurry up and—"

"Are you out of your mind?" Rhett suddenly growled, interrupting me. "I don't care if you want to die, but how dare you insinuate Vivi's death as well? Did you really think that a stupid emergency phone call would get me to focus more attention on you? Did you think I'd actually believe you?

"Hailey's a timid and kind person, and you'll still have to go through me if you want to harm her! And if I ever find out that you've been harassing her again, I swear to god, I'll kill you!"

Rhett then hung up on me in a huff.

I quickly dialed his number again, but I realized that he'd blocked me.

"Is that Daddy?" Vivian suddenly asked, her voice trembling. "Daddy doesn't hate me… Daddy… Come save me and Mommy…"

I held back my tears and didn't dare to look into Vivian's eyes anymore.

She had always thought that she was Rhett's darling little princess. I couldn't possibly tell her that her beloved Daddy had another family and also had another son. It would be too cruel to her.

"But where's Daddy? I…"

Vivian's voice trailed off. Suddenly, her smartwatch screen turned bright red as the alarm went off even louder than before.

Her heart rate had skyrocketed to 150! Her heart was failing!

I was shocked. At once, my emotions exploded in my head.

"Her meds! My bag! Give me the meds!" I screamed, trying my best to push myself out of the human barricade. I was worried to death that something bad would happen to her, so I had prepared all of her medication inside my bag.

"Is this all you meant by alerting the police?" Hailey asked with a scoff, still getting in my way.

She had tensed up when she heard Rhett's voice earlier. But now, she looked down on me with a condescending look and said, "I thought it would be something more than that. But look, Rhett doesn't even want to see you. How pathetic."

I was so frantic that I didn't even bother looking at her. I just wanted to find my bag that someone stole from me.

"Were you looking for this?"

Hailey suddenly produced my bag and raised it high over her head.

"Give it back to me!" I screamed, trying to rush at her, but the other employees kept holding me down.

Hailey laughed in delight.

"Of course! But first, you have to get on your knees and grovel!"

I immediately did as she said and begged. "Please! Please give the meds to me, please! I'm begging you!"

She was only satisfied after watching my blood drip onto the floor.

"Such a pathetic bitch. You mistresses are all the same!"

She then unzipped my bag and dumped out all the contents onto the floor.

"No!" I screamed. "The meds are in a glass vial! It'll break!"

Before I'd even managed to finish my sentence, Hailey flung the entire bag to the floor with all her might.

I felt my soul leaving my body when I heard the sound of glass breaking.

"What is this?" Hailey suddenly asked, her eyes doubling in size.

Chapter 3

The yellow diamond ring that fell out of my bag glittered in all its brilliance under the hot summer sun.

Hailey immediately stomped on my hand and dug her heels into my palm. "Where did you get such an expensive diamond ring from? Even Rhett wouldn't buy it for me!"

She glared at the ring on the ground, jealousy oozing from her eyes.

But the ring was just a little something I'd bought from an auction, thinking of giving it to Vivian to play with.

"I bought it myself, you can have it! I don't want it anymore!" I begged. "I just want Vivian's meds!"

I was even willing to give up all of my wealth if I could just save Vivian's life now.

"Bullshit!" Hailey screeched, grinding her teeth as she growled at me with a twisted expression on her face. "You must have begged Rhett to buy it for you!"

"I didn't—"

"Still denying it?"

Despite her boiling jealousy, her demeanor suddenly relaxed, the corners of her lips curling upward in a cruel smirk.

I immediately had a bad feeling about it.

She crouched down and picked up the cracked vial containing Vivian's emergency medication.

"Well, since that's the case, I guess I need to teach you a lesson."

Hailey let out a cruel laugh and smashed the vial onto the ground. The glass shattered, and the liquid spilled onto the ground before evaporating almost immediately in the summer heat.

She had just destroyed Vivian's last chance for survival.

Something snapped in me. I lost all my rationale and fought off the people holding me back, lunging at her in rage. I was going to bring her to the grave with me!

Just as I was about to grab her, I suddenly felt an excruciating pain in my stomach, and a painful, numbing feeling spread all over my body. I lost all control of my body and immediately fell to the ground, completely paralyzed.

"How dare you try to lay a finger on Mrs. Montiago?"

It was Oliver, one of the preschool teachers, and he held a stun gun in his hand. "Why don't you look in the mirror and see if you're even worthy of that!"

I couldn't control the rest of my body after getting hit by the stun gun. I did everything I could to crawl back over to Vivian and cover her with my body, shielding her from the sun.

"Vivi…"

I was in such pain that I couldn't even breathe. "Vivi, look at Mommy…"

I had missed the golden window to save her, and she had already fallen unconscious. I grabbed her little hand tightly in mine, extremely frightened that she would leave me without saying goodbye.

"Well, that gave me a fright," Hailey said nonchalantly with a scoff. "Do you think two million dollars is enough to pay for both their lives?"

She then produced a black card that I had given to Rhett.

"You're so kind, Mrs. Montiago, for even offering them two million in the first place! If I'm not mistaken, that black card should have at least 100 million dollars in it!"

"Yeah, that's the real Mrs. Montiago for you! Kind and generous and all. Look at the mistress, crying over a broken bottle of meds. Stingy little bitch."

"I think two million dollars is too much. 200 thousand would do."

"200 thousand?" Hailey gasped in mock shock. "Wow! It seems like your and your daughter's lives aren't even worth as much as my dress! Haha, how pathetic!"

"If it were up to me, I'd say she deserves two slaps on the face, and that's about it," Oliver said, sucking up to Hailey. "You don't even know how much money they managed to siphon from Mr. Montiago. They should pay it all back, even if it's with their lives."

Hailey nodded in approval. "I like your idea."

She then stormed over to me haughtily. However, a phone call interrupted her actions.

She answered the call, and the smile instantly dropped from her face.

"Arthur? What did you just say?"
