Chapter 5

But in the very next moment, Bunny said something that stunned everyone.

“Why don’t they believe me? I really didn’t seduce my sister’s boyfriend…”

“Last night was New Year’s Eve. Everyone drank a lot of wine. When I woke up… he was lying next to me. My sister cried and asked why I stole her boyfriend. Mom, Dad and my brother all scolded me for being shameless. I begged him—begged him to tell the truth. But he said I had dragged him into my room in the middle of the night when he was just going to the bathroom.”

“That’s not what happened! Why is he lying about me? My sister didn’t believe me either. She ran out in tears and nearly got hit by a car. Dad hit me for the first time in his life. But I swear I didn’t seduce him…”

As my voice cracked into sobs, Jack’s brow furrowed deeply.

He turned to the livestream, eyeing Jesica’s expression on the screen, searching her face for even a flicker of guilt.

The mirror’s sudden crack earlier—that wasn’t just coincidence. Something strange was happening.

And if you listened carefully, really listened, I didn’t sound like someone who had done those things.

Jesica suddenly threw herself into mother’s arms and whimpered, “My legs hurt…”

Brother let out a cold scoff. “Sure, let her lie to ghosts with that voice. But we know exactly what she’s like.”

Dad snapped as well. “She’s nothing but a liar. Nearly poisoned me to death. And some people still believe her?”

The livestream chat flared up.

[That recording sounds so fake! So now we’re supposed to believe the whole family’s been wrong this whole time? No way.]

[She’s just trying to turn herself into the victim. Sickening.]

I sat there, my heart aching in silence. No one noticed the faint trickle of water—like tears—slipping down the mirror behind Jack.

He lifted the rabbit again and continued the playback.

“Today I went to the hospital to see my sister. But I found her handing a card to her boyfriend. She told him his acting was really good. So it was all a setup! She wanted to frame me! I confronted them right away.”

“Mom, Dad and my brother rushed over… Her boyfriend threw the card in my face and said I gave it to him, that I paid him to harass my sister. I cried and told them—they were both acting.”

“That my sister even threatened to jump off a building to make herself look innocent. But no one believed me. Mom and Dad sided with her. They kicked me out of the house. I don’t have a home anymore…”

Someone commented. [Just check who that card belongs to! Isn’t it obvious?!]

Her brother sneered. “We did. The card was in Anna’s name.”

[Then why’s she still pretending to be innocent? She’s disgusting.]

Jack remained silent. He lifted the rabbit once more.

“The class president is chasing me again to pay my tuition and dorm fees. I wanted to call my brother to borrow some money, but he called me a liar and a thief. But I never lied… I never stole anything…”

[Please, if you were really broke, how are you still living like this?]

Her brother laughed bitterly. “She didn’t steal? Then where did Mom’s jewelry go? And the money in Dad’s safe? If we weren’t trying to save face, we would’ve had her arrested already!”

Jack’s hand tightened around the mirror as he noticed another crack spreading.

“Today marks the third month since I dropped out of school. While working as a waitress at a hotel, I saw my whole family celebrating Christmas Eve with Jesica. My brother yelled at me for trying to put on a show and told me to get lost.”

“Dad said if it wasn’t for the Meyer Family name, he would’ve handed me over to the police. But I need the money for my treatment. Is it a crime to work a part-time job? The doctor said if I don’t get help soon, my stomach cancer will spread. I don’t want to die…”

[Cancer? Really? Why didn’t she tell her family? Another lie, I bet.]

Jack didn’t say a word. He pressed play once more.

“Today is New Year’s Eve… my sister begged the family to let me come home for the holiday. I planned to tell them about my cancer diagnosis. But then Dad drank the juice I’d poured for my sister and collapsed.”

“Fortunately, the dose was small and his life was saved. But after that, he made a public announcement… He said he was cutting off our father-daughter relationship.”

Chapter 6

"I was called evil by everyone. I had nowhere else to go."

My desperate voice echoed out through the rabbit toy.

[Serves you right. If you dared to poison someone, you should've expected this day to come!]

"I just wanted to go back and retrieve my medical records," I cried. "But I was knocked out by a group of drunk men. When I woke up, the records were gone... and I had been humiliated by those men."

My voice trembled.

"Some kind strangers called the police... but when they arrived, the men claimed I’d done it willingly—that I could just pay them and everything would be fine."

My breath caught in the recording.

"Afterward... bills started showing up under my bed. Real money. Like I had agreed to it."

There was a brief pause before I continued, voice cracking.

"Mom and Dad called me shameless. My brother told me to stop making excuses for my disgusting behavior."

The rabbit played back his cold, cutting words.

"If you can't survive on your own, then go die. Just don't bring shame to the Meyer Family."

"Do I really deserve to die?"

The recording cut off abruptly.

Jack tapped the rabbit again, but there was no more sound. It had gone silent.

[If she was assaulted, where did all those bottles, the condoms and the money come from, huh?]

[Wow, almost killed her own father and still had the nerve to come back here and mess around with men?]

[Bet she made up the abuse story to cover her tracks! Probably stole money, then staged a fake suicide to escape the consequences. Left behind a pity recording and now she's trying to curse her family too?]

[Drag her out and throw her in jail already!]

One comment after another filled the live chat. Sentence by sentence, they built a perfect case to crucify me, erasing any trace of truth.

Jack stood still, brows furrowed in deep thought. Something wasn’t adding up. He could feel it in his gut.

He turned, slowly and then noticed something odd.

A drop of water slid down the mirror behind him.

A single tear-like trail.

But the weather was dry. There shouldn’t have been any moisture.

He looked up.

More drops. From the ceiling.

His eyes widened in alarm. "Something’s wrong with the ceiling," he muttered. "I need to check it out."

He pulled a hammer from his bag and smashed it down along the crack where the water was seeping through.

The ceiling burst open with a single blow.

Something heavy fell through.

Jack instinctively shielded himself with the rabbit toy—and the object thudded to the floor.

[Crap! That’s... that’s an urn?!]

[Why is there talisman paper wrapped around it? This is creepy as hell!]

Jack slowly picked up the small altar urn. The yellowing talisman pasted to it bore strange markings. He brought it close to the camera, showing the symbols to the viewers.

Mom caught a glimpse and her face went sheet-white.

"This... this is Anna’s birth date!"

My brother and dad stared in stunned disbelief, jaws slack.

Just then, the rabbit—which had just been struck by the falling urn—lit up again.

A mocking laugh echoed from within. Jesica’s smug, sugar-sweet voice flowed out.
