I was a poor orphan girl, yet I married the most powerful man in London. “You misunderstand,” I replied calmly. “I didn’t come here to marry you.”

Peter sneered, furious. “Still pretending to be noble?”

He immediately called the servants to throw me out of the house with my luggage.
