Chapter 2

The next day, I explained the whole story to my dad.

Then, I asked him to act out a play with me.

I rented a newly renovated room in advance and created the illusion that someone had lived there.

The moment Tina pushed the door open, I smelled a pungent odor.

Thus, I put on the mask silently.

However, Tina and Olivia didn't notice it.

Eating too much snake meat had damaged their sense of smell, so it was normal that they couldn't smell it.

"Mr. Smith, as you know, my daughter is pregnant with a son, unlike someone else... You should take good care of my daughter, right?" Tina covered her mouth deliberately while mocking me.

My father had a gloomy face, but he didn't say anything.

Tina and Olivia toured the house one after the other, finding fault with the house.

Finally, they even asked me to install smart devices throughout the house to make Olivia's life more convenient during her late pregnancy.

It was impossible!

"Mom, Olivia can't stay here for long. She still needs your care in the later stages of her pregnancy."

"She still wants to live here during her late pregnancy? It's impossible!" I thought to myself.

I needed to let this child be born. It was easy for her to have an early abortion.

After hearing this, Tina dispelled the idea.

My dad and I looked at each other, and then I sent him home.

In the past fortnight, Tina always went to the rental house to deliver snake meat. She would scold me every time she came back.

She said my belly wasn't even half the size of Olivia's.

I snorted coldly and wasn't surprised at all.

Her belly would eventually be three times the size of an average pregnant woman's.

It was just the beginning.

It was just a pity for the refrigerator at home. Upon opening it, I can smell the fishy smell. Even if nobody put snake meat in it, it was still lingering.

I sat on the sofa, flipping through my phone and listening to Tina complaining in the kitchen.

She complained that snake meat was out of supply.

I forced myself to hold back my smile.

Just five days ago, I followed her to the dark market, saw her trading, and decisively reported it to the related organization.

After all, this kind of animal couldn't be killed and traded at will.

All transactions were immediately blocked on the spot.

Tina couldn't buy snake meat and was worried; Olivia couldn't eat meat and called her frantically.

I was just mocking them in my heart when someone opened the door outside.

Olivia came in with a big belly, looking around, and rushed straight towards her mother.

"Where's my snake meat? Did you hide all of them for yourself?"

Tina shook her head desperately and held her hands tightly against her chest.

My eyes were always on Olivia's bulging belly.

She was pregnant at only four months old, but her belly was as big as an ordinary pregnant woman at six months old.

Without exaggeration, when she was shaking, the skin under the corners of her clothes was covered with dark green scars.

It looked exactly like snakeskin.

Vaguely smelling the aroma coming from the kitchen, I decided to get up and see if the food was cooked.

The moment I opened the pot, a person ran towards me suddenly.

Olivia rushed to my side and reached out to grab the braised pork.

It was too hot to eat. She could only take the pot and put it under the faucet, then rinse it and put the food in her mouth.

It was so disgusting that I didn't want to look at it a second time.

She had eaten all the meat in the pot, but she was still not satisfied and forced me to call Andy to buy meat.

The more novel it was, the better she would feel.

After a while, Andy brought a black thing and threw it on the table.

It was actually a female snake!

I couldn't believe he dared to buy such an animal!

"It's said that eating snake meat on the ground regularly can nourish the body, and it's good for children!"

When Olivia heard it, her eyes suddenly sparkled. Then, she reached out with both hands to stuff the food into her mouth.

Tina stood aside, swallowing her saliva silently with greed.

In the end, it was Andy who stepped in and cut off the snake's tail, allowing Tina and him to eat it.

I even felt that the snake's tail seemed to move.

"My son is so awesome! Now we don't have to worry about running out of snake food!"

Tina was overjoyed and played with the snake bone in her hands.

Olivia licked her lips and looked at the snake bone with lingering interest. Later, the two supported each other and returned to the room.

I quietly packed up the bones, put them together with the snake skin, and placed them in a flowerpot on the balcony.

I did it for the baby in my belly.

I hoped that it could reduce some of the sins they committed.

Any animal that was targeted by them would be unfortunate.

Thinking of it, I shook my head and left.

After taking a shower in the evening, I was so sleepy. But in the middle of the night, I was awakened by a message on my mobile phone suddenly.

Then I walked into the living room, and my sleepiness instantly disappeared.

It was because I saw snakes!

There were so many snakes!

Chapter 3

These snakes were in various shapes. Some of them coiled; some were standing.

The black snakeskin emitted a faint glow, and the moonlight shining on it made it look particularly terrifying.

I wondered if they were poisonous snakes.

Such a thing had never happened in my previous life!

My legs were shaking, and my teeth were chattering.

I recalled all the information about snakes in my mind, afraid of losing my composure. Thus, I tried hard to calm myself down.

Snakes were spiritual creatures. I didn't eat or cook it. Instead, I buried its companion properly.

I believed that they might not hurt me.

The phone was still ringing, and my neighbor, Lara, asked me if I had seen snakes.

She saw a group of snakes crawling towards my house in an orderly manner.

Before I could reply, Andy got up from the bed due to the sound of my phone. He rubbed his eyes and muttered, "Why are you standing on the ground so late at night..."

With a click, the lights were turned on.

He then didn't complain anymore.

"Oh shit! Mom! Help! There are snakes!"

His scream woke up Tina and Olivia.

Under the light, the snake twisted its body and coiled in the middle of the living room.

Tina was stunned for two seconds, then quickly reacted and smiled from ear to ear. "Wonderful! There are so many snakes to eat."

I thought she was crazy.

She was talking nonsense!

I looked over in surprise and saw that Olivia was drooling. She was not even afraid of being bitten. She grabbed the youngest snake and threw it in front of Andy, asking him to cook it.

The snake's tail was dancing in the air, and it looked very uncomfortable.

The next moment, I stepped aside in disgust.

I watched the three catching the snake skillfully, and Andy didn't even notice when his leg was bitten.

The snakes were swinging wildly in their hands. I couldn't bear to watch it anymore and turned away.

Olivia ate with relish and sneered disdainfully. "Humph! Sophia, do you think you're a kind-hearted person? Don't get that look just because you can't eat delicious food. It's really disgusting.

"It's you who are pregnant with a girl. It's your fault, but you're still standing here and disgusting others?"

I narrowed my eyes and compressed my lips.

A faint sneer crossed my fact, for Olivia was pregnant with something unknown.

Tina made a pot of snake soup and put it in front of me.

"Look at yourself in the mirror and see how skinny you are! My grandson has suffered a lot having a mother like you! You must drink all the soup today!"

In my eyes, it was not snake soup but a hodgepodge of parasites.

If a normal person ate it, the baby in her belly would surely die.

Olivia was eating meat, but her gaze fell on the soup.

I couldn't hold it in and vomited into the soup.

It had a sharp flavor.

She screamed and rushed over to hit me, but was stopped by Andy.

"After all, she is my wife and pregnant with my son. Be careful not to hurt her.

"It's just a snake. I'll get another one for you."

After that, she finally quieted down.

Olivia had almost eaten up all the snakes on the table. After much persuasion from Tina, she finally left two pieces of meat.

Yet, Olivia still complained of being hungry.

"It's all your fault for waking me up in the middle of the night!"

She paced around the room anxiously, and finally, her eyes fell on the small snake in the bucket.

She picked it up and stuffed it into her mouth.

Blood and flesh flew everywhere.

The more she devoured it, the happier Tina became.

I suddenly remembered the question Lara had asked just now.

[Tina killed all the snakes to nourish pregnant Olivia. Don't worry.]

After replying, I went to sleep.

Unexpectedly, I was woken up by knocking on the door the next day.

It was the neighbor who sent the message yesterday.

Upon seeing me, Lara asked seriously, "You ate all the snakes yesterday, right?"

Chapter 4

I shook my head, insisting that I didn't eat it at all.

After hearing this, Tina came over unhappily, saying, "If you have nothing to do, don't bother us. My daughter needs to rest."

Lara didn't care about it. She pushed the door open and walked into the living room. After walking around, she approached Olivia.

"We believe snakes have spirits. You can't eat them at will. That's inhumane!

"Look at her belly, what color it is! That's similar to the snake's body!"

After hearing what Lara said, I stared at Olivia's stomach carefully.

Strangely enough, her belly seemed to have an extra lump, moving in an irregular manner.

Tina got angry because of it, pointed at Lara, and started to curse, "You're talking nonsense! My daughter is blessed. Get out of here now! Get out of here!"

Lara was so angry that she glared at Tina and cursed her a few words. She threatened to report Tina before slamming the door and leaving.

Tina chased after her and spat. "What report? If she dared to do it, I would make her pay!"

Within three days, people from the Animal Protection Bureau came again.

They found snake meat and other frozen meat in the refrigerator and took them all away.

Lara also mentioned Tina and Olivia in the residents' group, asking them to do less evil and better. Otherwise, they would face severe consequences.

All of a sudden, everyone criticized Tina, and then the latter took turns to curse at them. In the end, she was kicked out of the group chat by its owner.

She was so angry, pointing at me and yelling, "You must have told her, right? Otherwise, how could she come here and report me!"

I didn't like to hear that.

If she didn't do anything wrong, it wouldn't happen.

"Mom, who can't see snakes rushing in? If I were you, I would find more meat for Olivia. Didn't you notice that she was sluggish these past two days? It must be because there is no snake meat."

Olivia looked bad, and her eyes were lifeless. At this time, she slumped beside the sofa. No matter what anyone said, she didn't move at all.

Tina was so scared that she was at a loss.

I stared at Olivia's belly thoughtfully.

The belly of a five-month pregnant woman was actually bigger than that of an eight-month pregnant one.

Every time I took a walk in the neighborhood, I could hear my neighbors whispering.

Olivia became the subject of everyone's discussion. Such being the case, I decided to add fuel to the debate.

As I opened the short video, a message popped up with a mechanical male voice.

"A five-meter-long python has appeared in the scenic area. Please stay away..."

Olivia sat up suddenly, crawled to me hurriedly, and snatched my phone to read the news.

At this moment, she only paid attention to the python.

I guessed that she didn't notice its warning.

"Mom, we will have snake meat! As long as I eat it, your grandson will surely be full of energy!"

Tina was even more excited. She and Olivia even began planning how to kill the giant python alone and how to get the snake meat.

"Mom, I'm not feeling well. Let Sophia take the lead, and you and Andy protect me from behind," Olivia proposed with evil intentions and looked at me with a forced smile.

Tina nodded repeatedly, thinking that what Olivia said made sense. She even took out a machete and placed it in front of me, saying that it could be used to kill snakes.

This was the first time I felt so upset.

"Mom, don't you want a grandson?"

Tina was stunned, waved her hands, and said disdainfully, "You just bear a girl, so don't try to scare me."

"Right! But even if she is a girl, she is one of the family members and your granddaughter... If outsiders found that you let me take the lead, regardless of your granddaughter's life, it would be a disgrace to the Keith family."

I spoke slowly, mentioning our neighbor's gossip without panic.

With her temper, she couldn't stand it.

As I expected, after thinking for a moment, she asked Andy to take the lead.

Then, I raised my eyebrows at Olivia provocatively.

I thought to myself, "Wait for killing the python? Humph, wait to be killed!"
