It was supposed to be the happiest day of my life - Ethan Gray and I were getting married on Valentine's Day.

But when the emcee announced our entrance, I walked down the aisle alone.

Ethan had disappeared after receiving a call.

For three whole days, Ethan vanished without a single call or message.

On the fourth day, as I was carrying my mother's urn home, I ran into a familiar Maybach.

The bodyguards got out. I looked at them calmly.

Raven looked at me too, her lips curling into a knowing smile.

Ethan was still wearing the custom suit from our wedding day, now wrinkled from who knows what.

It was a suit I had spent half a year's salary on, though my mother had advised renting instead, being the thrifty type.

But Ethan had insisted - marriage was the most sacred thing, how could it be treated lightly?

He said if Rachel Adams couldn't afford it, he'd buy it himself.

Ethan came from a wealthy family and owned his own company. I didn't know his exact net worth and didn't dare ask.

We had dated for three years, and I loved him deeply. So as he wished, I had gritted my teeth and bought the suit.

But the so-called sacred wedding was just a joke to Ethan, not even worth a phone call from Raven.

Most tragically, my mother died from the shock.

Her lifelong dream was to see me and my love walk down the aisle.

Seeing my cold expression, Ethan frowned. "Rachel, what's with that look? Are you throwing a tantrum again?"

I shook my head. "No."

"Don't say no, it's written all over your face!" Ethan said unhappily. "Raven had a high fever and was hospitalized. I just accompanied her for three days. Is that really worth you giving me the cold shoulder?"

"Yes, marriage is important, but Raven's health is important too. She was burning at 38.3°C, she could have died!"

"We can have the wedding another day. Oh right, I find this suit a bit uncomfortable. You should return it and order a new one. I'll pay for it so your mother won't object."

I said indifferently, "No need to return it. It's already dirty. Consider it our breakup gift."

Hearing this, Ethan froze. "Rachel, do you know what you're saying?"

"Go ahead, say that again if you dare?"

"Let's break up. I'm not getting married."
