Chapter 2

I grew up in an ordinary family with parents who were both teachers. We weren’t particularly wealthy, but our life was warm and fulfilling.

It wasn’t until the Moores came knocking that I learned I was the child mistakenly switched at birth in the hospital.

I was actually the Moore family’s daughter.

After I reunited with my true family, my biological parents treated me well, and I quickly adapted to them.

They made every effort to make up for lost time, and I could feel their sincerity.

They had raised Cassandra for many years and had feelings for her.

Even after getting me back, they didn’t sever ties with Cassandra. They simply said we should continue as a family and call each other sisters.

I had no objections, but Simon was furious.

The Lewis family and the Moore family had just arranged a marriage. Now that I was the Moore family’s daughter, it was expected that I would fulfill this marriage contract.

In high society, such marriages are made for mutual benefit.

The position of Mrs. Lewis could only be filled by the genuine Moore family daughter.

No matter how much Simon liked Cassandra, it made no difference.

When Simon first met me, he glared at me and said, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. I’m telling you, all you’ll get is the title of Mrs. Lewis. You’ll never have me or my heart.”

Seriously? Who wants you? I hadn’t even met you before!

I’d be grateful if someone had told me Simon was just an average guy.

My biological parents were truly kind to me. They repeatedly told me not to force myself and said they could find a way to annul the marriage.

Cancelling the marriage would, in effect, mean severing ties with the Lewis family.

In my previous life, I agreed to the marriage to avoid putting my parents in a difficult position.

After marriage, Simon and Cassandra were openly affectionate, without any regard for me.

Simon almost brought her home and into my bed.

I endured even that, but Cassandra still wouldn’t leave me alone.

Three days after the wedding, Cassandra’s call pulled Simon away.

Before leaving, he told me, “Lena, you go ahead. I’ll join you later.”

Familiar lines, familiar routines.

When he wanted to shift the blame, he called me Lena, but when it was just everyday matters, he called me by my full name, Helena.

He was two-faced.

I went home alone and explained that Simon had a sudden work issue and couldn’t come back with me.

My parents knew exactly why he didn’t come back with me.

Simon and Cassandra’s affair was an open secret in our circle, and my parents were well aware of it too.

My mother held my hand, eyes red, and said, “We’re so sorry for the mix-up at the hospital. Now that we’ve finally found you, you have to endure this. We truly regret it.”

I comforted her, “It’s okay. Marrying anyone is the same. I don’t love him, so I won’t be upset over him.”

I had regretted marrying Simon after the fact, but it was too late now. I had mentioned divorce to him, but he squeezed my chin and asked what trick I was trying to pull.

I rolled my eyes at him and told him to stop reading those domineering CEO novels, which would only make him more troublesome.

After that, I never brought it up again, resigned to living a widow’s life.

Being Mrs. Lewis, with money and leisure, and no man bothering me, wasn’t such a bad thing.

Just when I thought life would continue blissfully, Cassandra showed up at my house, announcing she was pregnant.

“I told you, Mrs. Lewis can only be me. You should leave Simon. I advise you to be sensible.”

I was unmoved. “You, a top star, pregnant out of wedlock? Do your fans know?”

Furious, she threw her water cup. “You pushed me into this.”

I thought she and Simon were a perfect match.

They both seemed to love reading those domineering CEO novels.

Chapter 3

My death came suddenly. There was someone knocking on the door, and when I opened it, I was stabbed.

The attacker was one of Cassandra’s stalker fans. This person was clearly not mentally sound – Cassandra had merely hinted that I had bullied her, and this fan believed it immediately.

So, he decided to come and stab me.

If you’re so brave, why not go after Simon instead? He’s the one who let your idol be the third party in his relationship.

After my death, my soul drifted aimlessly, and I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t able to move on.

I saw my parents devastated by my death, while Simon, ever so considerate, comforted them. He even said he would help my father manage the company. With his help, the Moore Group’s name was changed to Lewis.

Cassandra successfully married into the Lewis family, put their story online, and embellished it to make it seem like a romantic fairy tale that moved countless netizens to tears.

She then landed a leading role in a film and won Best Actress, achieving a double victory in both career and love.

Seeing this, I had an epiphany. She tortured me while I was alive, and even in death, she wouldn’t leave me alone. She wanted me to watch as she became the ultimate winner in life, leaving me to suffer alone.

I drifted aimlessly until I found myself in a quiet sanctuary. The head of the place, who seemed to notice me, held up a rosary and said, “You’re carrying a lot of anger, but I’ll give you a chance to make things right.”

A flash of white light later, I opened my eyes and found myself reborn to the period shortly after my wedding.

With this new life, I made revenge my main objective and decided to add a secondary goal of building my career.

The hotel industry under the Lewis Corporation seemed perfect, aligning with my college major.

The title of Mrs. Lewis shouldn’t go to waste.

I asked Simon to arrange a position for me in one of their hotels, but he was unwilling and angry, saying, “Do you think the Lewis Corporation is your family’s market? You can’t just waltz in.”

Without showing any emotion, I pulled out my phone and showed him. “I have evidence of you and Cassandra’s affair – photos and videos, including full HD footage. Now, can I get a position at Lewis Corporation?”

Simon threw my phone down. “You’re really something.”

Damn it, he really did a number on my phone. I quickly added, “And I need a new phone.”

My father, fearing that I might be mistreated at Lewis Corporation, called me, “We also have our own hotel brand. If you want to work in the hotel industry, you can do so at Moore Group.”

I chuckled to myself: practice makes perfect, and I definitely can’t use our family’s own company for practice.

Even though I was living a new life, under my management, the hotel’s performance thrived.

My mother’s birthday party was held here.

At the banquet, my father looked at me proudly. “As expected of my daughter. If you need any help in the future, just let me know.”

I smiled and replied, “Don’t worry, I won’t hesitate to ask if I need anything.”

Watching our scene of familial affection, Cassandra couldn’t sit still.

She came over, saying, “Sister, you’re truly amazing, able to do everything, unlike me, who only knows how to act.”

I thought, at least you know, but your acting is terrible.

My parents didn’t respond, and Simon, ever the sycophant, wanted to comfort Cassandra. I grabbed his sleeve and whispered, “If you want to comfort her, feel free to do so after the banquet. But in front of my parents, you’d better be careful.”

Simon, aware of the situation, could only agree reluctantly, with so many people present at the banquet.

Cassandra, not getting the reaction she wanted, started with her snide remarks: “What secret conversation is going on between you and Simon? Is it because I’m here that you don’t want me to hear?”

My father shot her a disapproving look. “What’s with your attitude? They’re your sister and brother-in-law.”

Cassandra muttered something grudgingly.

Oh, so now we’re diving into the “sibling rivalry” trope, huh?

I walked up to Cassandra and said in a voice only the two of us could hear, “Be careful not to bite too hard, or you might break your teeth.”
