Ethan pulled Brenda into his arms immediately, and his big hands tightly embraced her waist.
He did look worried about her.
"Yara Garret! You're sick, but that doesn't mean we owe you anything!"
"You can blame me, but you shouldn't treat Brenda this way. She helped you build up Mrs. Sean's reputation and raised Daniel for you. Not only do you not thank her, but you also hurt her. You should apologize to her!"
I suddenly lost the desire to talk to him. I was too tired, and my heart started to hurt again.
I checked the time, and the City Hall had already closed.
I endured the discomfort and began to ask them to leave,
"Ethan, I will apologize to her if you agree to divorce me."
"If you don't sign the divorce papers, please get out of my house!"
My words made the two people who were embraced together unhappy.
The cold air emanating from Ethan made me, who already felt cold, feel even colder.
"This is my house. Who are you to chase us away?"
I looked up in surprise and then smiled.
"You're right."
Under Ethan's displeased gaze, I packed things that were important to me and left resolutely.
Brenda knelt on the ground, picking up Legos one by one, tears streaming down her face.
Ethan helped her up and threw the Lego blocks into the trash can in anger.
"She doesn't know how fortunate she is. Let her go! Let's see how far she can go!"
I returned to the orphanage
because Ethan had ordered his men to block all my information. I couldn't check into any hotel.
The orphanage head who served as our witness at the wedding became old.
She looked at me for a long time before remembering who I was.
"Yara, why did you come back alone? Where is Ethan?"
Her questions made me lose control of myself. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer, and I didn't dare let anyone see my vulnerability, either.
Lying in the little room I used to live in, I could no longer find the warmth I felt before.
The man who promised to be with me and love me forever had long disappeared.
The next day, I got up early, feeling restless. Looking at the abandoned orphans, I couldn't help but think of Daniel.
I missed him. So I took out my phone and checked Brenda's moments.
They looked happy together, which brought me to tears.
I gave up the idea of seeing Daniel again.
He was taught that Brenda was his mother since he was a child. I, his biological mother, who he had never seen, shouldn't disturb his peaceful life.
Suddenly, my phone rang. In a daze, I answered Ethan's call.
"Yara, did you take Daniel away? Send him back immediately. If something bad happens to him, I won't forgive you!"
My heart skipped a beat when I heard the news.
I became more restless.
"What do you mean? Isn't Daniel in your Sean's residence? How could Brenda let him go missing?"
I panicked at that moment.
My eyelids also started twitching.
"Didn't you take Daniel away?"
Ethan was still skeptical about me.
When I rushed to Sean's residence, all of Seans were there.
That was the first time I officially appeared in front of the Sean family.
They all scrutinized me.
"So, this is Daniel's biological mother? She is indeed inappropriate!"
"Oh my god, she's so ugly!"
Perhaps their remarks made Ethan feel embarrassed.
He coughed heavily, and the noises stopped. But they still looked at me with disgust.
I didn't care what they said about me. When I looked around and didn't see Daniel, I grabbed Brenda's arm and questioned her harshly,
"Where is my son? Where did you take my son?"
My hair was messy, and my eyes were bloodshot.
The pain almost choked me.
"Enough! Haven't you embarrassed us enough?"
"Lock her up and interrogate her. No one beside her dares to touch take my great-grandson away!"
Madam Sean hit the ground hard with her walking stick, and each hit made me tremble.
The security guards held my arms and tried to drag me away. Ethan felt a little sorry.
"Grandma..."
"Ridiculous! What did this crazy woman do to make you so obsessed with her? You're the head of the Sean family. How could you be so cowardly?"
I shouted at Ethan with a hoarse voice,
"Let me go find Daniel. I'm sure I can find him!"
