I was rock star Jax Thorne's secret wife for five years.
Then, he and his new lover graced the cover of Rolling Stone.
TMZ painted me as a delusional, crazy bitch.
His fans launched a witch hunt against me online.
My cheating husband played the part of the tormented, devoted superstar, while I was cast as the villain.
Did he really think I was just the "moderately talented studio musician" he'd dismissed me as?
He'd forgotten who invested two million dollars to produce the platinum album that made him a legend. He'd even forgotten the soundwave tattoo of a song I wrote for him, the one inked above his heart—now crudely covered by his new flame's initials.

For five years, I was rock star Jax Thorne's secret wife.
Then, he flaunted his new relationship on Instagram.
TMZ painted me as a delusional psycho, a "bitch."
His fans launched a witch hunt against me online.
My cheating husband played the tormented, devoted superstar, while I was cast as the villain.
Did he really think I was just some random studio musician?
He forgot who invested two million dollars to produce the platinum album—the one that won him a Grammy.
I had just wrapped up a post-production meeting for a music festival when my phone started blowing up with calls from my family.
"Genevieve! What the hell is going on?" The first call was from my sister, Claire Sinclair.
"Huh? What are you talking about? What's wrong?" Her frantic tone made no sense. I was completely baffled.
"Oh, if you don't know, then...never mind. You're okay, that's all that matters. I was just, uh, checking in about your meeting." She seemed to breathe a sigh of relief at my bewildered tone.
The second call came from my best friend, Phoebe.
"Genevieve! Are you okay? Please tell me you're holding up." She sounded incredibly anxious.
"What?"
I was even more confused.
"Oh, you haven't heard? Then... forget it!" she said quickly. "Just calling to see how you are! You know, since you're on the other side of the planet and all!"
Then, Phoebe awkwardly rattled off a few bad jokes, laughed a little too loudly, and abruptly hung up.
Next was a video call from my mother.
"Genevieve! Are you alright?" she asked, her voice thick with tears.
"Alright, that's it. What the hell is going on?" I finally snapped.
My mom fell silent for a few seconds, startled by my sharp tone. Then, she cried out, "Genevieve, you haven't seen? Jax and that influencer went public! Someone leaked your information, and now they're saying you're some psycho trying to ruin their perfect relationship!"
"The entire internet is tearing you to shreds!"
"Jax Thorne?" I muttered, my brow furrowing. "He wouldn't dare."
"Genevieve, you stay away from him, you hear me? Your dad, your brother, and I already have the legal team preparing to sue!" my mother roared.
I pressed my temples, a wave of exhaustion washing over me. "Mom! Wait, don't do anything rash. Tell Dad and Kyle to stand down. Let me figure this out first. I can handle it."
After a tense ten-minute call, I finally convinced my mother not to storm the gates just yet.
I opened Instagram, and the trending topics immediately assaulted my screen.
"Rock Star Jax Thorne's New Romance Revealed!"
"'The God of Thunder' Finds True Love."
"Jax Thorne Gifts Blair Davenport a Custom Guitar."
It turned out Jax had posted a photo earlier. It was a shot of a woman from behind, standing in a recording studio and holding his iconic guitar. The caption read: "My muse, my siren song."
At the same time, Blair had posted a photo of them kissing on a yacht in Malibu. Her caption was: "The stars fell into the sea, and I fell into your arms."
In an instant, the internet exploded. Thousands of fans flooded their posts with comments, congratulating what they dubbed "rock's newest power couple."
"OMG, my two faves are finally together!"
"Get married already!"
Many fans started digging up old clips of Jax and Blair interacting at various music festivals and parties.
"They're a match made in heaven! So perfect for each other. This is the sweetest couple in rock history!"
"Agreed! They should get married right away. They look so perfect together! I believe in love again!"
I scanned the comments and let out a cold laugh. Then, I dialed Jax's number.
"Oh... baby, harder..."
The moment the call connected, I was met with Blair's sultry giggles and Jax's heavy panting. The call lasted only a few seconds before I slammed the 'end' button.
A wave of nausea and pure rage washed over me. That night, I posted a photo of our marriage certificate on my locked Instagram account.
The next day, I booked the earliest flight to Los Angeles. I had to see just how long Jax could keep up this charade once I was back in town.
However, overnight, my Instagram account was completely swamped with hate.
Suddenly, I was a headline. The top trending topic read: "Shameless Woman Fakes Marriage Certificate with Rock Star Jax Thorne."
Less than ten minutes later, Jax responded on Instagram. He admitted to dating me in college but claimed we had parted amicably a long time ago.
He claimed the only person he was focused on now was Blair.
Thousands of fans commented under his new post, most of them attacking me.
"So shameless! They broke up ages ago, and she still faked a marriage certificate! How desperate can you get!"
"She's ridiculously shameless."
"Get away from Jax! He deserves better!"
"Jax doesn't love you anymore, disappear from his life!"
My phone rang the moment I stepped off the plane. It was Jax.
He told me to meet him at his mansion in the Hollywood Hills.
However, I had an urgent recording session I couldn't miss, so I handled my business first. It was nearly midnight by the time I finished work and drove to the mansion.
I didn't expect him to wait. Surprisingly, he had been there all day.
I walked in to see him pacing in the living room. The moment he saw me, his voice was a low growl. "It's the middle of the night. Where the fuck have you been?"
A bitter laugh escaped my lips. So much for not being on the same level, I thought.
"Then what about everything I did for you five years ago?"
"It was just two million dollars! You want money? Fine. I'll give you twenty million to make this go away," Jax sneered. He stood up, towering over me with disdain before snorting and turning to leave.
I hurried forward to stop him, but he impatiently slammed me against the wall lined with his platinum records. One of them crashed to the floor and shattered.
"Enough, Genevieve! Stop clinging to me like gum on a boot. You're pathetic!"
Jax kicked the shattered record aside, cursed, and stalked away without a second glance.
I slid down the wall and collapsed onto the carpet, biting the inside of my cheek so hard I tasted blood. My anger burned white-hot.
My mind raced with a thousand ways to make this man pay. No matter what, I was going to destroy him.
So much for the handsome face. Underneath, he was just another asshole.
