“Stop acting like I'm wrong! Let go!” Leah tried to push him away but Amoux started tugging more fiercely and viciously.
She couldn't quite handle it.
She looked him straight in the eyes and saw that he had no intention of letting her go. She attempted to shove his hand away a second time, but she did not succeed.
"I told you to let me go! Shit!"
As she tugged on her arm again, finally, she was able to regain control of her hand, but she was also sensitive to the discomfort caused by his nail dig against her flesh.
Both of them examined it together but she hastily covered the small scar since a little amount of blood had leaked.
She closed her eyes for a while to calm down. Nevertheless, she shut it more tightly because the wound he had made was deeper.
Leah backed away from him, and didn't care if the Lycan or the Luna would be upset. She will not last long with this man. Perhaps, She'll lose her mind tomorrow if she stays with him longer.
"I'm leaving..." Between her words are only air..
She turned around and stride towards the door. However, before she could open it, it has opened.
She covered her eyes when the dazzled of the sun entered from outside. As she looked at who had come in, she quickly bowed.
‘Won't my day end without thinking of anything?’ She bit her lip and let go of her wounded arm.
"What happened to your arm, Leah?" Leah heard Luna's worried voice, but she didn't lift her head and let her continue. "Did the rogues or any beta patrol hurt you?"
"Don't be naive, Rosette! Who else can hurt her if the only one with her in the room is your son!"
When the Lycan uttered the words, he was no longer angry, but there is a hint of emphasis. Anyone would think they were forbidden to make a move that could provoke him.
"Son?"
“What?”
“Why did you hurt Leah? She hasn’t adjusted much to the palace yet! And besides, she will be your doctor, so you have to protect her and she will heal you everytime you're hurt. You must guard her. It's a give and take, don't you think?”
Luna spoke non-stop. However, Leah didn't listen to what she said because she already knew that the words would only enter Amoux's ear and come out on the other side.
For Amoux, those are just empty words.
"I have blue royal blood. I am the one who will inherit the throne. I can decide who will be beside me and who will not. And I will reject her to be my doctor, no matter what you say, mother."
As Leah expected, Amoux isn’t going to give up.
‘What a stubborn child!’
“Amoux! I no longer know how to handle you! I'd better lock you up if you keep acting like this! You're worse than those rogues!" powerfully Lycan said, and Leah was even more scared because they seemed to have a fight.
"But Lycan—" She was planning to join their conversation because she had already rejected the offer.
‘I shouldn't be staying here anymore; it's just wasting my time. If I had left earlier, I would have been looking for herbs now.’ Leah thought.
"And for you, Leah. You don’t have to quit what Richelle started. You can still continue doing that."
She lowered her head.
“Rosette and I decided to give you a room in the palace and your laboratory. You don’t have to accompany Amoux every time he fights. The only thing you need is to always be present when something happens to him."
'What else can I do? This is the Lycan himself.' Leah could not help but feel dismayed. Nonetheless, she will just think that this is the way of her gratitude because they did not expel her from this territory and pack.
"Great!!"
Leah heard Luna's series of applause and her quick embrace to her.
She was surprised at what she did because it had been a long time since someone hugged her. When Richelle died, she felt like she was alone. So, being embraced again by a mother gives her warmth to the heart.
Her hand moved spontaneously, and she hugged her back.
"Please, be more patient with my son." She whispered to her that she knew the father and son would hear.
"I will try my best," she answered, because she didn't know what the results of their decision would be, especially now that their son doesn't like her.
"I know you're a good child, and I also believe that you can tame my son."
She slowly walked away from her and then stepped towards her mate. Luna hugged the Lycan at the waist, as a result she avoided her face.
She's not used to seeing such a scenario.
"We're leaving. Discuss to each other about the things you didn't agree on because from now on, you will see each other every day," Lycan said while Luna closed the door.
Amoux and Leah were just quiet. It was as if the extreme silence deafened her.
As she is waiting to talk first...
*grumbleeeeee*
She doesn't think luck agrees with her.
She heard her stomach rumbling with hunger.
"Tsk!" Amoux reacted irritably and marched to the door. "Whenever you're hungry, call the servant to ask for food or any beta patrol you could see!"
Amoux opened the door, and Leah saw that he was talking to a guard in front of the front door.
She could not hear what they were talking about, so she kept quiet and sat on the bed. Although she's a wolf and has a sharp hearing, she's not that interested in gossiping about others' discussions.
She looked at the deep wound on her arm. It is supposed to heal faster but she doesn't know why it's taking time.
She blew the wound and slowly, it's closing.
Amoux returned empty-handed. Leah thought that during the conversation he had with the guard earlier, he was already carrying at least some water because her throat seemed to be dried.
"I ordered the other guards to give you your food." There was no trace of any emotion in his face but Leah could see how he looked at the closing wound on her arm.
"I'll tell the servants to bring your belongings."
He turned his back on her.
"Uh.." Amoux stopped when he was already holding the handle of the door. He didn't turn around, just holding it.
"What now—" Leah instantly stopped because of the next thing she heard.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it."
Amoux uttered before walking away and leaving her hanging her jaw.
Leah's Point of View
One hour later, two beta guards entered Amoux’s chamber with the meal he mentioned and the medication I believe they took from my home.
When the Lycan informed me that I would have a bedroom and laboratory in the palace, it seemed like a dream. It seems like just yesterday when I envisioned them treating me fairly. Not only did they treat me with respect, but they also recognized me as the doctor.
"The Prince has instructed us to provide you with your medical supplies, while the Lycan has ordered us with anything you ask for. Just tell us what you need and we will give it to you." The man carrying my medication pack spoke out.
Another man pushed the stroller that I was thinking where my food was.
Like the first time I ate here, I smelled cuisine that I had no idea how to prepare. My mouth seems to be oozing saliva, and my stomach is rumbling. I refrained from expressing my need for a large quantity of food.
"Care to enlighten the Lycan that I vehemently disagree with what he says, because I will not work as Amoux's doctor as long as that monster remains arrogant." I no longer recall where I obtained my bravery. I want to be unstoppable in all my endeavors.
"We'll let him know what you want to say." As he gave me the medical pack, the guy replied icily
"Here you go." They looked away from me and did not even bother to open the meal.
I dropped my foot and was about to eat the prepared dish when I heard two betas whispering.
I suppose they should get out before gossiping. They appear to have forgotten that wolves may be quite sensitive listeners.
"Because of the exceptional treatment she has received from the Lycan, she is likewise behaving beyond her rank." The man pushing the stroller was the first to whisper.
I would have just let them go. However, the next moment, another man spoke.
"When she is no longer useful, she will likewise be slain, just as her parents were."
I feigned a cough and was in front of them in less than a second, using my wolf's speed. I haven't mastered it yet, but I can already use it.
"What?" They asked and did not show surprise at my rapid presence when I blocked their path.
"How did you become acquainted with my parents? If you are going to speak, you must first ensure that the individual with whom you will be conversing is dead or far away."
No matter what I attempted to quiet myself, I was unable to do so since my voice had risen.
"Why? What I said is true. If you are unworthy, I am certain you will meet the same fate as your parents—"
*bang*
We were both surprised by the abrupt breakdown of the door, the loud banging, and the guy driving the stroller being nailed to the wall with his neck suffocated by a hand and long nails.
It took me a while to fathom that Amoux was the one who was choking him as he was being hoisted into the air.
I could see the fear in the man's eyes when one of his companions retreated and he did not protest.
As soon as I understood what was happening, I sprinted over to Amoux.
"Stop it, my Prince."
I pulled his hand but he did not look at me, and his arm seemed to tighten. I saw his veins got larger and I knew that the beta in the air would die.
"You're much too conceited to be a beta, aren't you?" Because of Amoux' raspy voice, I let go of his arm as if I had been burned. "Did I authorize you to speak nonsense?"
The man is already tugging Amoux's hand, trying to remove it. He stared at me with an expression like a plea for help. I just looked at him since I had no idea how to help him either.
"A-amoux, I reckon that is enough. Possibly you can do something bad to him— "
"I care not."
He did not allow me to complete my sentence, so I gazed into the man's eyes as if I were going to give up. With Amoux's thorny heart, I shouldn't be the one they turn to for assistance, since I have been through what they are currently experiencing now.
"I-I want to rest as much." I continue to attempt to rationalize. I closed my eyes, certain that he would be upset with me for messing with him once again.
But as soon as I closed my eyes, I no longer heard any sound.
When I opened my eyes, I saw him lowering the man's body silently. And when he eventually dropped him, the man fled with another guy who had been standing behind us. It felt as if a thorn had torn me out since I no longer needed to be concerned.
"You're too weak and too soft." He told me coldly.
I looked at the door that was still broken, and it looked like he had no plans to fix that thing. He quickly lay down on the bed, put his arms on the back of his head, and closed his eyes as if he were just in the garden.
"If my softness is the reason for them not to look down on me and to think of me equally, I'm fine with that." I paused and looked at the door again. "Won't you even fix the door you broke?"
I looked back at him and noticed his mouth was open, and his lips were red.
Suddenly, a loud throb in my heart happened.
I shook my head to get those out of my brain. I just listened to what he had to say even though his eyes were closed.
"You are wrong. When you are vulnerable, they will take advantage of your weakness so that they can hurt you even more."
I backed away as he turned his head to me and continued his sermon.
"All you have to do is be strong so no one can step on you."
I could not answer.
"But since you're just an omega, sorry for you."
Because of what he said, I couldn't resist and took the metal cover of the food and threw it at him.
I was amazed when I saw him laughing out loud and seemed to be happy with teasing—no, MOCKING ME.
