"Luna!" I knelt and bowed. "Lycan."
What brings them here? Amoux came out. I was suddenly conscious of my appearance because I hadn't taken a bath yet. I looked at the bed table because the food might be thrown on the bed and I was afraid they would get mad at me because based on the design of the room, it belonged to Amoux. I still don't lift my bowed head. I closed my eyes as Luna approached me. Lycan King is still dressed in Emperor garments, while Luna is dressed in Queen gown.
I backed away even though I had nothing to step back because the bed was behind me. When queen Luna held my hand, I closed my eyes.
However, I quickly lifted my head as she grasped my hand gently. I noticed her beaming eyes on me, as though to reassure me that I need not fear anything.
"Probably, you know who we are because you grew up in our territory and Helena introduced you to us." She squished my hand as she examined it. "I am aware that you want to continue Helena's mission. You want to follow in her footsteps and rise to the challenge, however... "
The Alpha king was also near me, and I locked my attention on both of them. I was even more perplexed by Luna's attempt to articulate what she wished to convey.
"What are you intending to express?" I couldn't resist the question, but I instantly bent my head since I thought my actions were rude. I had to remind myself that I was facing Alpha King and Queen Luna, not Amoux.
Luna raised my chin to allow me to see them. As a result of what she performed, I concluded that they deserved to lead the Nightwalker pack entirely. Furthermore, in the next few years, they should cover another pack as well, since I believe they will be able to consolidate all packs if they take the lead. To me, the fact that Luna is holding me without animosity right now is remarkable.
"We will not prolong the conversation. I'd want to have you as my son's personal doctor. He must be safeguarded since he will be the future heir to my reign; nothing can go wrong with him."
My eyes met his as they grew wider. It was as though his words had deafened my ears. Following that, the door opened and the expressionless Amoux stepped inside. My mind was fixed on the notion that I would be his personal doctor.
"Do not fear; we will also provide you with safety. We will give you lots of whatever you want, except... " He stopped speaking, and his flaming eyes were frightening. "You must discontinue the medication you began and devote your attention to my son."
"FATHER!" Amoux's voice resonated across the room, causing the hair on my arms to stand on edge. Three Alphas are now standing in front of me, and their presence is overwhelming.
"We have previously discussed this, haven't we? As I already said, there was just a problem, and it dawned on me. I guarantee that will never happen again!" I like this Amoux's bravery; he is too bold to confront his father since he is the next successor to the kingdom.
"Adjust your tone of voice." His father remained still as well, and despite his feeble voice, it was replete with power. The ambience is hard to determine and if there are wolves that witness this, how do they cope with it? It felt as if I was ready to perish from the air, and Luna seemed to realize, as she instantly intervened to prevent the two of them from clotting the tension.
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THAT! YOU TWO!"
The two soon ceased their stares. My fist tightened as they all focused on me. Luna yanked my hand away, reassuring me that I had nothing to fear. Alpha is diametrically opposed to Omega. Now I see why they make such a mockery of Omega. We lack the bravery that the rest of the world has.
"Well, Leah, we'll just have to wait and see what you decide. We're going to give you a week." Luna's hold on me gradually loosened as Alpha King also turned around. Luna even smiled at me briefly before joining her husband. Because my brain was unable to understand what had occurred, I was left standing and looking at the door.
"Refuse to accept my father's offer!" He tugged my arm, forcing me to look at him. I arched an eyebrow at him as I stared at his hand on my arm. Who is he to make the decision? His father is still more competent than him, and as long as the Alpha king does not withdraw his offer, I have time to consider my options.
I considered a technique to make him mad. "Your parent's proposal is more enticing. Your only offer to me is I will remain here till I recover my strength while your father's suggestion is way better. Who knows, perhaps he will let me stay in your palace when I accept what he says." I gave him a grin.
I noticed how his eyes glowed like fire, as if he wanted to devour me. His hand reached for my throat and suffocated me. He shoved me into the wall with enormous force. I attempted to withdraw his hand but was having difficulty since his fang flared up as well.
"L-let go… of m-me." I couldn't finish what I said because I was short of breath and I was coughing. My breath is being suffocated. I seem to have angered him greatly.
"Do not enrage me. I am capable of murdering you. RIGHT NOW." Every word he said was powerful, but my eyes were gradually shutting. This cretin. I had no idea he was that nasty!
"HAAAHHHHH!" I released a breath as he instantly released his grip on my neck. As a result of what he did, he provided me with more reasons to accept his parents' offer.
Third Person's Point of View
"Fucker!" Leah just couldn't stop.
"What did you say?" His red eyes were bright.
'Fuck!'
Again, he pulled her hair and moved his face closer to her.
Just a distance away and their lips would crash to each other.
"Do you really wanna die?"
"Fucker!" She repeated.
Amoux looked into her eyes like he wanted to kill her, but he let go of her hair soon after.
"A simple Omega who was trying to get on the same level as a future Lycan King. Who do you think you are?"
'What the fuck?! I have no intention like that!' Leah opened her mouth to defend, but then she shut her mouth again.
"I'm just wasting my time," Amoux added before he turned around. When Amoux held the door, he turned his head again and gave her a death glare.
'If my father just didn't favor her, I could easily kill her!' Amoux talked to his wolf.
'No!' Black growled. Amoux' wolf.
Amoux became confused by his reaction. This is the first time Black acted like that. Every time Amoux tells him that he will kill an Alpha female, the wolf doesn't care at all.
Amoux just disregarded it and continued on his way.
Leah stared at the door for a long time before she realized something.
The fact that the man she secretly loves has such a dirty personality bothers her.
“I can't stay here.”
She immediately stood up and ran out the door quietly, so Amoux wouldn't catch her. However, she was only a few steps away when she heard his firm voice again behind her back.
"I don't know what your head is made of."
Leah didn't turn around, scared of his reaction but she can already hear every step of the man coming towards her. "Didn't I tell you not to leave without my permission?"
"Why would I stay in that room after what you did to me?" Leah responded with confidence as she faced him with her head and body and continued while gritting her teeth. "I'm not going to stay there!"
He took a big step toward her, but she backed away out of fear. She can't know what's going on in his head, but she can see a hint of doubt in his eyes that she doesn't know where it came from.
She looked behind him and swallowed a lot of times as she waited to see what would happen.
After a few seconds of Amoux' staring at her, Leah let out a breath before she shouted.
"Lycan!"
She pointed behind his back. When he turned around and believed what she said, she immediately ran away.
As she got away from him, she held her chest, catching her breath while feeling her loud pulse of heart. She didn't know what to do next, so she let her eyes wander.
Leah was mesmerized by how big the Nightwalker pack's palace was.
While wandering, she took each step cautiously since she knew Amoux' could hear her because of Alpha's sharp instinct. She tried not to make a sound, afraid that he could be instantly behind her.
"What is the purpose of the size of this regal palace?" She ran her eyes through the hallway, "Seems like their bathroom is much larger than my usual place of living."
She continued to walk until she saw what was in her way. Her lips curled into a smile as she was overjoyed to see the exit.
'Finally! I didn't have to see Amoux's face till I had decided on my decision to be his personal doctor.' Leah thought.
After she accepted the Lycan and Luna's suggestion, she knew Amoux wouldn't hurt her again because his father would be peeved.
Leah gulped as she pondered the opportunity. Throughout the year that she hoped Amoux' would notice her, the chance came to her deliberately now.
However, it makes her wonder about the future of their relationship, since there are times when they don't get along.
'No! Stop thinking about it, Leah! You need to train yourself to control your wolf! Being his doctor or lover is such a delusion, like heaven and earth— that won't ever be able to meet!' She scolded herself and rushed for the gate.
If only the Moon Goddess made her an Alpha female... perhaps, there's a chance.
As she was already three steps away from the gate, she suddenly pulled back when someone grabbed her waist.
She felt a deep breath on the back of her neck, as if it was about to bite that area.
"No matter how hard you try, you can't hide from me."
As she heard his demanding tone of voice, her muscles instantly became tense. Her whole body felt as though it were being swallowed by balmy breath. The wolf inside her sensed what was going on, but it also turned a blind eye while she recovered her composure.
"Are you still not done with me?" Her knees are weakening and trembling. If he hadn't just wrapped his arms around her stomach, she was sure that she would have given up on the ground.
"I want to go home..." She couldn't hear herself speak, and all that came out of her lips was air.
"You may go as long as you assure me you will not take my father's words." He clutched at her even more tightly. She has lost her ability to think because she feels their skins are in contact. "You are to blame for my father's disdain for me. He thought I couldn't be self-sufficient!"
He growled angrily at her and her eyes widened as a result of what he did. Her chest heaved up with pain, which resulted in swiftly streamed down tears on her cheeks. A few grains of tears tick down to Amoux' arm, and he begins to realize that.
His grasp around her waist had eased.
"How dare you cry in front of me, lowly omega!" He let go of her waist but held onto her shoulders and gripped them.
She tried to suppress her sobs, but it just became louder.
She's not crying because of his outburst but to the fact that he didn't even dare to express his appreciation for saving his life but rather blamed her.
'He would have died if I had not interfered to save his life. I hope he considered it at all!' She whined to her head.
As she lifted her head, she wiped away the tears and spoke with dignity. "Is that really how much you dominants are upset about us omegas?"
“You're so full of yourself—”
“If I hadn't been engaged during those hours when you couldn't breathe, you wouldn't be alive right now!"
Leah was afraid someone would hear her because it was against the rules to yell at a royal but there's no way she could stop herself.
“Watch your mouth, woman! You should let me finish when I was talking before you—”
Leah bolted before he could complete what he was about to say. As she ran away, tears poured down on her face again.
She left that place without Amoux knowing what face she made.
What she was expecting, anyway? For Amoux to chase her?
There is no way that could happen...
[After 1 Week]
Leah never saw him again after what happened between them. She never got out of her room or looked for pharmaceutical leaves. She has spent the past week thinking about what the Lycan told her, and now is the last day for her to make a decision.
It's just a blink of an eye when she save Amoux...
As she sighed, she rearranged her clothes and marched to the door. She was well aware that her choice would serve as the impetus for her certainty.
When she opened the door, there were three patrol guards waiting to take her to the Lycan and Luna.
It only took a few minutes when they arrived at the castle and she didn't expect who she would see at the entrance.
She spotted Amoux waiting but she didn't glance at him and simply walked straight by him.
His face wrinkled in amazement at what she had done.
And when she was about to take another step, he grabbed her arms, making her look at him.
"We need to talk."
"What?" Leah exclaimed aggressively, her gaze fixed on his palm on her arm. She avoided looking at his face since she had no intention of seeing the pompous Amoux's face!
He released his grip on her arm as if his skin were on fire and he burned.
Leah removed her hand furiously and resumed walking, and he did the same. As she felt him behind her back, she halted her stroll since she wanted him to be the first to walk.
A Prince will always be one step ahead. And a peasant omega, who is far behind...
"Lycan. Luna." Leah greeted them, knelt and bent her head when they arrived.
Leah waited until they tell her what to do. However, as soon as the man next to her took a step, she went on talking. "If you'll let me raise my head now, I'd like to give my decision now."
She saw Luna come up to her and extended her hand out. Leah turned her head to look at Luna and took her hand.
"You can stand up. After all, Amoux is here now. Tell us what you want to do." Her voice was nice, and she could tell she wasn't trying to scare her.
Leah was not scared of her; she's scared of what their son might do to her.
I went to my feet and bowed my head. "To begin, I want to convey my gratitude for providing me with the chance to demonstrate my abilities by selecting me as your son's personal doctor. However, I'm sorry that I'm unable to accept your offer because I can't abandon the duties Richelle has already begun."
"W-what? Why?" Luna grabbed my hand instantly, her voice alarmed. "We witnessed your capability and your willingness to lay down your life for my child. Can't you reconsider? If you need anything in exchange for your agreement, we will provide it."
"I understand what you desire, Luna but I will not allow myself to sacrifice my life once again in order to look even worse in the eyes of a man who has forgotten how to be gracious." Leah gently withdrew her hand, took a step back, and bowed once again.
She cannot turn her back on them, since that would be impolite. Luna seemed to understand what Leah was saying as she glanced behind her to check where Amoux was.
'I'm desperate to leave this place; I feel as if I'm out of breath as a result of what's taking place.' Leah could not help but talk to herself.
She still have nightmares about what Amoux did to her. Luna is precise that she was ready to sacrifice her life for her child, but Leah is not willing to do it again.
As the Lycan walked, Leah carefully closed her eyes. Will he retaliate against her now that she disagrees? His presence was so strong that her hand clinched strongly as well.
*Smack*
Leah heard the thunderous smash of the smack as Lycan walked behind the Luna where Amoux was. Her mind trembled as she realized what was going on.
"You accomplished nothing more than to disgrace me! I'm only protecting you because you're still a kid who cannot be abandoned by a parent!" Lycan's voice boomed out, and even she cannot overcome the heaviness of the atmosphere.
"Hector!" Luna snatched Lycan's hand and dashed from Amoux. "How could you do this to our son!"
"You hide and protect your son so well under your underwear that he developed into that! He was powerless to defend himself against the witches or other pack! Even when it comes to ordinary rogue hunting, he is incapable of doing it properly!"
"Why are you impressed with that doctor's ability? There are doctors much superior than her! Consider your surroundings! Everyone is competent at doing what she did—"
*Smack*
Another blow to the face.
She saw how his face shifted to the left. Leah's eyes widened as she realized that the power he showed her was nothing compared to that of his father. Nevertheless, when it comes to pride, he is unflinching.
He raised his head proudly once again, and his eyes were locked on her. His eyes were full of rage, as if he was expecting to fight with her.
"Then send one to me!" Lycan takes a deep breath, as Luna becomes concerned at seeing her husband's condition. She walked over to him and rubbed his back. "I will give you three days to find me a doctor who is greater than her; if you succeed, I will give you my kingdom."
The conflict between father and son is intensifying. She was taken aback by them, and Amoux did not avert his venomous gaze from her. Whatever he did to scare her, she was powerless to stop what the Lycan had ordered.
Amoux exited the room, and the doors slammed shut as if they were ready to be shattered.
Leah simply stood there staring, despite the fact that Amoux was no longer there. His animosity towards her will only grow stronger as a result of today's events.
She was certain he'll blame her again. Also, she couldn't really accept what was offered to her because she had to find out what kind of spell was put on him. There are still so many things she want to know.
"Luna and Alpha. I'd like to excuse myself if possible." She can't look at them with her eyes because of what happened. She was also apprehensive about venturing out, fearful that Amoux might be waiting for her.
"Won't you reconsider, Leah?" Luna is still trying to push her.
She has lost the reason for her to accept it. As Amoux stated, they have a large number of doctors. She is just hoping he can find someone.
She was a little bit hurt…
She admits.
"You will not leave Amoux's chamber until he arrives. Wait for him to return." Lycan stated.
Huh? Wait?
Who?
What?
Wait…
'It means that if he can’t find one, I have no choice but to be his doctor, right?' She asked herself.
No... she don't want to be trapped with that man the way she has already been now.
