When I regained consciousness, I couldn't open my eyes adequately. I even rubbed them to make sure the blurring didn't hurt. I continue to hold my head because it still aches. I attempted to recall what had happened last night , but it was as if I were a corpse standing up from the pit. I sprinted to the restroom to check for Amoux's bite on me. I combed my hair and checked behind my neck... I was disappointed, but I also relaxed since he didn't bite me.
Maybe I'm delusory if I think he'll imprint me... Or perhaps not.
I totally dismissed it in my mind and prepared to return to the forest in search of a remedy that may perhaps be utilized for major disorders that were not visible in the body. Helena taught me that the wound or illness wasn't only obvious to the naked eye — even if she didn't tell me that; I already knew. I don't need to see the wolves' laying bodies to know they're sick; even if their bodies are still robust, I can hear their pulse and tell if it's strong or weak.
I put on a coat like Little Red Riding Hood's when I finished showering. This is what I generally wear to avoid attracting wolves when walking. Maybe they'll hurl me or fling me at the planted plants if they notice me. It is not a good idea to harm the seedlings in the forest. I was ready to depart when my door was knocked on. I wouldn't have opened it; this is another wolf attempting to obstruct my exit in order to chastise me for what I'm doing. Even though I don't want to open it, I have no option but to do so.
I was clutching my basket when I opened my wobbly door, which was on the verge of collapsing. The sweaty face of the man who had come here last night to fetch Amoux flashed in front of my eyes. I scowled as he took a deep drag, took in the air, and struggled for breath. Who else could be a wolf in pain, and this is the look of horror on his face? He drew my hand out to say what he needed to say before I could ask.
"You have been summoned by the Lycan king. He himself directed me to come here so that you may treat Amoux's unhealed wounds. Every time he tried to restore his strength, his wounds became deeper and deeper—”
I didn't let the man finish speaking and was rushing ahead of him. I couldn't carry medicines, so I had just one option. That would transfer the pain to my body. I'm not sure what his ailment is, and based on what the guy stated, it appears that I haven't discovered a cure for it so far . The man has shifted and is now in front of me. If I could just manage the shift, I wouldn't have a problem going to him right now.
As I could see the palace, I was still carrying the basket and wearing a scarlet coat I had sewn myself. When I stepped in, I gasped when I saw Luna Rosette, the mate of the Lycan king, sitting close to her son, while Amoux couldn't supply oxygen. His eyes were closed, and his expression showed how he was dealing with the discomfort. I examined his wounds and discovered that these were not typical scars. Poison is plastered to them. When I glanced at their expressions, I noticed that they were all focused on me. As I could hear Amoux's pulse decreasing, my heart was at the bottom of the abyss.
"I will kneel in front of you as long as you save my son," she pleaded as she took my hand in her. I witnessed her concern for her son, and deliberately, since the slowing of Amoux's heartbeat had not been removed from my ear, I took Rosette's hand, placed it back on her lap, and returned my focus to Amoux.
I counted his wounds and identified seven. With the sort of toxin tied to them, I understood it might eat away my life for several years. It's also conceivable that I'm unable to bear with the torment since only a witch can concoct poison like this. During my journey in the woods, I learnt, including the numerous sorts of diseases that witches create and their intentions. They also have varying degrees of power or ability. The ability I now wield is the transferring pain. I studied it for many years and it is flawless. But I'm hoping I can do it correctly since it's conceivable that Amoux and I will both get harmed if I make a mistake.
I closed my eyes and placed my palm on his chest to concentrate on what I was doing. I can already feel the light entering my chest as the surroundings begin to heat up. Because my heart does the greatest harm, this is what I focus on the most. My leg was deteriorating and my body was about to give up until the two wounds were removed. I opened one eye to see if there was any more progress, and I saw that Amoux's breathing was becoming better, so I exhaled and closed my eyes again. Because I'm already in pain, sweat is streaming down my neck.
When I had completely depleted his wound. I've already blinked open my eyes. I saw his eyes open and smiled at him before passing out. My neck and heart felt bound, like if metal were searing my back.
"I'm relieved..."
My voice was weak, but before I fell to the floor and everything went dark, he held the back of my body . Even before the voices vanished around me, I heard his firm voice, the release of his fang, and the way he gazed at me using his dagger eyes.
"You have a thing for misfortune."
Ah. I am madly in love with this man.
I could not feel my body as I slowly opened my eyes due to the quantity of power I had expended. I move my head and am grateful for the ability to turn it next to me. I was laying on a lovely bed with a magnificent ceiling, so I was certain I was still in the palace. I looked over my shoulder and saw the man crossing his legs while he read a book. I was sure that he was already aware of my presence, but he did not glance at me.
"I have to return home." I could hardly hear myself speak owing to my frailty. I'm afraid it will be a long time before I restore my stamina if I don't make it home. I'm looking for medication that can help me regain my strength.
"You are quite stubborn, aren't you?" He closed the book and fixed his gaze on me.
I averted my eyes because I could hardly see him straight in the face. I, too, did not respond to what he said. When I saw that he was alive, a hand stroked my heart. My attention was drawn to his figure, which was now dressed in a royal robe. The reality screams at me about how distant our state is from rank and life. While Alpha and Luna adored and cared for him, I'm still curious about the disease that killed my parents.
I attempted to sit up but my body continued to worsen. He just observed my every move until I eventually forced it. I stared out the window and struggled to recall how many days I had slept. I wanted to clarify as to how long I had been laying in this bed. I'm also unsure if I'm lying on his mattress at the moment, since I can sense his fragrance.
"You may remain here first rather than returning to your home, which was almost blown away by the wind." He did not avert his face and snap his fingers. I locked my gaze on the door as it opened after he snapped. I couldn't help but be impressed at how quickly their pack members moved.
I mean, when Helena was still living, if she directed me to do anything as easy as placing the pain medicine she prepared on the table yet I still had a simple accident and spilled it. This is also likely why he is upset with me, as I am not similar to the wolves he has encountered.
"You are boorish." I couldn't prevent myself from telling him. Helena gave me that home, and despite the fact that it was broken, I remained. Only with Helena did I understand how to really love. I have several memories of the home. Moreover, he has not been able to express gratitude to me. My searching for leaves for my remedies was delayed because of him.
Three betas entered, bringing food with them. Although the trolley did not arrive yet, I could smell the meal instantly. My tummy grumble as a result of the aroma. I couldn't keep my sight away from the food when the woman open what is inside. I want to it instantly. I suppose have sleep for a few days, since I won't be as hungry as I am now if I did not. A lady set up a bed table and arranged the dishes on it.
They gave it to me as I locked my focus on Amoux, who had returned to reading. I swallowed many times and sat there fascinated as the three ladies emerged carrying the cart.
I just held the spoon and fork, without moving the food at all. I just peered at the meal before me. I'm not sure what to name it, since this is the first time I've seen it, and I'm also uncertain of the kind of meat used.
"You will not be satisfied just by staring at that cuisine." He abruptly spoke and turned the page of his book.
"Okay. Thanks for the food." I couldn't prevent myself from telling him. He has not yet responded.
I ate for a few minutes till I was content. I had just lifted the bed table and was about to go when he unexpectedly remarked.
"What are your plans?"
"I'll return the stuff I used —-"
"Did I tell you that you can leave?" He warned me coldly, and I hastily repositioned my foot on the bed. Because of what he uttered, I bit the bottom of my lip. My body seemed to have its own will and swiftly obeyed what he demanded.
"Just leave it there; they'll take it though. Inform me what you want and I will provide it as a token of a gift for saving me." Every word he spoke was excessively proud. I am not in need of the reward. It is sufficient for me to express his gratitude since it is my obligation to aid them. Well...
He is so precious to me that I want to devote my whole life to him. And I'm certain that my emotions will be the cause and way that he can wreck my life.
I hate that I'm so desperate for love.
"I'm in the mood for a bath." Not on my own, I whispered in the air. If that is what I wish , he has no choice but to send me home because I don't have any clothes. "However, I want to do it in my place." I added, he stared at me. His jaw clenched, as if he couldn't take any more of my mischief.
"You may bathe here. I'll instruct the servant to arrange something suitable for you to wear." He rose to his feet, and I heard the door slam shut violently.
I touched my left chest because it was beating so hard. I felt as if I was about to have a heart attack as a result of the racing horse in my chest. I could also feel the flush on my cheeks, since this was the first time in a long time that I had spoken to him.
"Ah —-" I was going to speak when the door opened, but I was halted by the fact who had entered.
"Luna!" I knelt and bowed. "Lycan."
What brings them here? Amoux came out. I was suddenly conscious of my appearance because I hadn't taken a bath yet. I looked at the bed table because the food might be thrown on the bed and I was afraid they would get mad at me because based on the design of the room, it belonged to Amoux. I still don't lift my bowed head. I closed my eyes as Luna approached me. Lycan King is still dressed in Emperor garments, while Luna is dressed in Queen gown.
I backed away even though I had nothing to step back because the bed was behind me. When queen Luna held my hand, I closed my eyes.
However, I quickly lifted my head as she grasped my hand gently. I noticed her beaming eyes on me, as though to reassure me that I need not fear anything.
"Probably, you know who we are because you grew up in our territory and Helena introduced you to us." She squished my hand as she examined it. "I am aware that you want to continue Helena's mission. You want to follow in her footsteps and rise to the challenge, however... "
The Alpha king was also near me, and I locked my attention on both of them. I was even more perplexed by Luna's attempt to articulate what she wished to convey.
"What are you intending to express?" I couldn't resist the question, but I instantly bent my head since I thought my actions were rude. I had to remind myself that I was facing Alpha King and Queen Luna, not Amoux.
Luna raised my chin to allow me to see them. As a result of what she performed, I concluded that they deserved to lead the Nightwalker pack entirely. Furthermore, in the next few years, they should cover another pack as well, since I believe they will be able to consolidate all packs if they take the lead. To me, the fact that Luna is holding me without animosity right now is remarkable.
"We will not prolong the conversation. I'd want to have you as my son's personal doctor. He must be safeguarded since he will be the future heir to my reign; nothing can go wrong with him."
My eyes met his as they grew wider. It was as though his words had deafened my ears. Following that, the door opened and the expressionless Amoux stepped inside. My mind was fixed on the notion that I would be his personal doctor.
"Do not fear; we will also provide you with safety. We will give you lots of whatever you want, except... " He stopped speaking, and his flaming eyes were frightening. "You must discontinue the medication you began and devote your attention to my son."
"FATHER!" Amoux's voice resonated across the room, causing the hair on my arms to stand on edge. Three Alphas are now standing in front of me, and their presence is overwhelming.
"We have previously discussed this, haven't we? As I already said, there was just a problem, and it dawned on me. I guarantee that will never happen again!" I like this Amoux's bravery; he is too bold to confront his father since he is the next successor to the kingdom.
"Adjust your tone of voice." His father remained still as well, and despite his feeble voice, it was replete with power. The ambience is hard to determine and if there are wolves that witness this, how do they cope with it? It felt as if I was ready to perish from the air, and Luna seemed to realize, as she instantly intervened to prevent the two of them from clotting the tension.
"I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THAT! YOU TWO!"
The two soon ceased their stares. My fist tightened as they all focused on me. Luna yanked my hand away, reassuring me that I had nothing to fear. Alpha is diametrically opposed to Omega. Now I see why they make such a mockery of Omega. We lack the bravery that the rest of the world has.
"Well, Leah, we'll just have to wait and see what you decide. We're going to give you a week." Luna's hold on me gradually loosened as Alpha King also turned around. Luna even smiled at me briefly before joining her husband. Because my brain was unable to understand what had occurred, I was left standing and looking at the door.
"Refuse to accept my father's offer!" He tugged my arm, forcing me to look at him. I arched an eyebrow at him as I stared at his hand on my arm. Who is he to make the decision? His father is still more competent than him, and as long as the Alpha king does not withdraw his offer, I have time to consider my options.
I considered a technique to make him mad. "Your parent's proposal is more enticing. Your only offer to me is I will remain here till I recover my strength while your father's suggestion is way better. Who knows, perhaps he will let me stay in your palace when I accept what he says." I gave him a grin.
I noticed how his eyes glowed like fire, as if he wanted to devour me. His hand reached for my throat and suffocated me. He shoved me into the wall with enormous force. I attempted to withdraw his hand but was having difficulty since his fang flared up as well.
"L-let go… of m-me." I couldn't finish what I said because I was short of breath and I was coughing. My breath is being suffocated. I seem to have angered him greatly.
"Do not enrage me. I am capable of murdering you. RIGHT NOW." Every word he said was powerful, but my eyes were gradually shutting. This cretin. I had no idea he was that nasty!
"HAAAHHHHH!" I released a breath as he instantly released his grip on my neck. As a result of what he did, he provided me with more reasons to accept his parents' offer.
