Chapter 7

In a trance, she saw Octavio looking at her with a cold face by the swimming pool, as if he was looking at an enemy.

Crystal suddenly remembered that when she was learning to swim, she really could not learn it. Octavio smiled and pulled her out of the water, saying that he would never let her touch water again.

With just one thought, she gave up struggling and continued to sink.

Her consciousness gradually became blurred, and just at the last second when she was about to sink into the water, someone finally pulled her out.

She was in a very miserable state, collapsed to the ground powerlessly, and with her slightly opened eyes she could only see Octavio's face full of disgust.

“You're disgusting.”

She heard Octavio say.

News of what Octavio had done to Crystal soon spread. When Crystal returned home, Octavio was kneeling upright in the middle of the living room.

Octavio’s father's face turned red with anger, and he pointed at Octavio and scolded him, “Even if Crystal is not our child, she is nominally a member of the Carrillo Family! There were so many media at the banquet that day, Octavio, are you going to ruin us?!

“Didn't you have a good relationship with her before? No matter how angry you are, you cannot push her into the water. I remember Crystal is even afraid of water.”

Octavio’s mother also echoed, but Octavio kept his head down. When he heard that Crystal was afraid of water, he shook his head slightly, but then said nothing again.

After a moment, he said stiffly, “Crystal is bullying Jocelyn, she does not deserve this much protection.

“Besides, she and I have no blood relationship, she is not worthy of being my sister!”

Crystal paused as she was about to walk in. Although she had already decided to give up liking him, her heart still could not help but ache when she heard these words.

If she did not let Octavio know that she liked him, the two of them would probably be the same as before, just like ordinary siblings.

She concealed the loneliness and grievance in her eyes and pretended to have just walked in.

“Dad, Mom, I'm back.”

Octavio’s father and mother were stunned for a moment, but soon they put on a smile and held Crystal's hand affectionately, with a look of kindness that had never been seen before.

“Crystal, are you back? Have you picked out the jewelry? Just pick out whatever you like, we will pay for it for you.”

Crystal pulled her hand away distantly and responded indifferently.

Octavio raised his head in confusion. When did his parents start to care about Crystal so much?

But he did not take it too seriously after all, thinking that they had suddenly changed their nature.

“I have chosen it.”

“That's good. Crystal has really grown up. She was only ten years old when she came to our house."

Octavio’s father greeted awkwardly, and after talking for several sentences he finally got to the point.

“Isn't your engagement party with Jocelyn still two months away? Crystal happens to be going out next month, so it's a good opportunity for Crystal to attend in two months…."

Octavio interrupted coldly. “No! Jocelyn and I's engagement party is next month.”

Octavio's face was as dark as if he wanted to kill someone. He suddenly stood up, supported his numb legs from kneeling, and went straight back to the room.

Crystal felt empty inside. In order to avoid her, did Octavio even get engaged earlier?

Besides, that day was her birthday, but no one in the Carrillo Family remembered it, and no one would remember it.

In the past, Octavio would carefully prepare every birthday for her, but times had changed and things were different at that time.

She smiled self-deprecatingly and returned to her room under the worried gaze of Octavio’s father and mother.

Chapter 8

The diary was placed conspicuously in the middle of the desk. Crystal picked up the diary that contained her ten years of girlhood thoughts and decided to throw it away.

For ten years, Crystal recorded her time with Octavio in her own way.

When she was ten years old, she came to Octavio’s house for the first time. Octavio grabbed her hand and said that no one could bully her sister.

At fifteen, Octavio protected her everywhere, and the whole city knew how much Octavio valued this sister.

At the age of 22, Octavio found out that Crystal liked her, and everything went in a direction that Crystal did not want to see.

But there were still twelve days left and everything would be over.

She would marry Glen, and Octavio would get engaged to Jocelyn.

The bridge should be the bridge, and the road should be the road.

There should had been no connection between them.

Everything that Octavio and Crystal were implicated in was related to interests.

If Octavio’s father and mother had not chosen a marriage partner for the development of the family, Crystal would never have appeared in front of Octavio.

After a while, Octavio kicked open Crystal's door with a stern look on his face, while Crystal was holding her diary in a daze.

When Octavio saw this scene, he was stunned for two seconds, then his face turned gloomy again. He quickly snatched the diary from Crystal's hand and threw it out the door.

“Crystal, are you disgusting? I told you not to have those unrealistic fantasies about me anymore!”

The sound of the diary falling to the ground hit Crystal's heart. She felt a little aggrieved, her eyes slightly red, and she spoke after careful consideration, “I did not, brother. I was wrong. I was ignorant before. I do not like you anymore.

“I apologize to you for what happened before. You can burn the diary.”

Octavio glanced at Crystal coldly. Her humble and submissive look always made him feel annoyed. “You better be!”

After saying that, he strode out of Crystal's room. Crystal had even forgotten why Octavio had come to see her in the first place.

Octavio also forgot that he first entered Crystal's room to get her a birthday present, which was a set of bracelets that Crystal had liked for a long time.

He stared at the diary on the ground in a daze, and after a moment he picked it up as if possessed.

The first entry in the diary is written in Crystal’s beautiful handwriting.

[Brother Octavio and I are obviously not biological siblings, so I should be able to like him.]

Five days before the wedding, Crystal's friends held a birthday party for her. Jocelyn and Octavio somehow got in among them.

Jocelyn, who was holding Octavio's hand, glanced at Crystal with a smile on her face. Seeing that Crystal's face did not have the lonely expression she had imagined, she gritted her teeth secretly.

That day was the last chance. After spending the past few days together, she clearly felt that Octavio had unknowingly been leaning towards Crystal.

He even asked her yesterday what impact the cancellation of the engagement would have on her.

Jocelyn felt an even deeper sense of crisis. Although she had agreed with Octavio on everything and it was all acting, she had her own selfish motives and she did not want Octavio to fall in love with Crystal.

Moreover, Octavio had been mentioning recently that he and Crystal were not biological siblings. A few days ago, he was furious because someone mistakenly thought that Crystal and Octavio were blood-related family members.

Jocelyn's eyes became darker and darker as she looked at Crystal, and a storm was brewing in them.

Chapter 9

Halfway through, Crystal went to the bathroom, but saw Jocelyn walking towards her with a gloomy face.

Crystal's heart was filled with alarm. She vaguely felt that the same thing as last time was going to happen again. She quickly washed her hands and wanted to leave, but Jocelyn caught up with her in two steps and held her tightly.

“Jocelyn, have you had enough of acting?” Crystal said sternly. She tried to break free, but Jocelyn was surprisingly strong and she could not move.

“Of course not! Why would Octavio still favor you until now?”

Crystal did not understand why Octavio started to side with her.

“Don't worry, this is the last time!”

Jocelyn's voice was like a poisonous snake entwined around Crystal, making her feel cold.

Then, Jocelyn grabbed Crystal's hand and fell towards the stairs.

Crystal's eyes widened. This was a European-style spiral staircase. She just watched Jocelyn rolling down. She never expected someone would be so cruel to her.

With a scream, Jocelyn's head was broken and blood flowed down her face.

The waitress who happened to walk by was so frightened that she could not move. She looked at Jocelyn and then at Crystal in amazement.

The people in the box who were attracted by the sound were also stunned when they saw this scene.

Octavio reacted the fastest. He rushed down the stairs and held Jocelyn in his arms.

“Octavio, I was wrong. I really should not have gotten close to Crystal. “I just accidentally mentioned her past with you, I did not expect her to be so excited.

“I'm sorry, Octavio, I messed up. She also said that she likes you the most…,"

Before Jocelyn finished speaking, she fainted.

The onlookers frantically started calling for an ambulance, but Octavio was the only one who remained unusually calm, so calm that it was frightening.

While the ambulance was arriving, Octavio walked up to Crystal with a grim face.

“She was just trying to make friends with you, how could you be so cruel?!”

As Octavio spoke, he pushed Crystal hard with such force that Crystal lost her balance and fell heavily to the ground.

As if that was not enough, Octavio pressed on.

"Why? Is the darkness in your heart so deep that ruining me wasn't enough—you had to drag others into it too?"

"Crystal, how could you be this vile?"

Crystal's brain exploded. She had not recovered from Jocelyn's self-destructive behavior yet, and her head went blank again because of what Octavio said.
