Chapter 2

Weeks had passed. I was getting used to the pain. Melody would come to the dungeon and beat me to her satisfaction. When she felt angry, she would vent her frustration on me. I was slowly becoming a shadow of myself.

Even though no one came to visit me, I strangely developed a strong will to live. I didn't want to die anymore; I wanted to avenge myself. I want revenge for what I had to go through: the humiliation, the sorrow, the pain, all of it. I will make them go on their knees and beg me. I wouldn't rest until I'd given them triple the punishment they'd given me.

---

The sound of heels echoed in the prison cell. I knew Melody was coming to get her daily dose of enjoyment. "Stay calm," I told myself.

"Hello, twin, how are you today? Oh, you look absolutely disgusting-bleh. Oh, Moon Goddess, what a wasteful creation you've made, anyway, useless as you already know you have been accused of stealing the royal seal so that you will be tried in court, I mean, it's the least we can do for your sorry ass".

Oh Goddess, they were taking me to court!! No, I know they want to humiliate me more, I just know it, goddess, please help me with this

I don't want to suffer like this.

"The trial date is in three days. Get ready to face judgment. Now back to the routine, let's have some fun." She said as she whipped me, even though I was used to it, it still hurt. "Please stop," I pleaded, but she just laughed. Goddess, please help me.

---

The day of the trial came. They pulled the chains and yanked me like a dirt dog. The trial took place in the packed stadium, where everyone had gathered to watch me get humiliated.

Even my own family was there. You might think that being a Gamma's daughter was a good thing, as it places you in a high position; you see it as a blessing, but when you're in a position such as mine, you tend to see it as a curse.

I looked toward the Gamma Beta and Alpha families and saw them looking at me with disdain. I still remember when my father, Gamma George Gilbert, told me how much he hated me and that he would have just killed me when I was born if he had known I would bring shame and disgrace to him. He called me a stubborn stain, and my mother, Diane, told me how she regrets having me as her child, how much she wants to dispose of me, and even threatened to sell me as a slave to the rogues.

I looked to see Ryan and Melody seated together, occasionally kissing. If you didn't know them, you would think they were a loving couple, but they're just demons with angelic faces.

---

The council members were present, and everyone had taken their seats. The trial began. I was made to sit on the ground with chains on my arms and legs in my torn clothes. I looked haggard. I looked like a rogue who was about to be hanged. I was so hungry that I didn't eat properly. I was only given half a loaf of dry bread and dirty water. On good days, they give me clean water.

The council member Boris asked, "What is this lady being charged for?"

"She is being charged for theft and betrayal, in fact, also treason. She stole the Silvermoon pack Royal seal, tried to run off with it, and sell it, who knows to whom she planned to sell it off to. Maybe a pack of enemies, maybe the rogues. They might issue an attack on the pack and kill us all, and even make us slaves. She wants revenge on us; she thinks we are the reason she doesn't have a wolf. We caught her before she could accomplish her devious and wicked plans."

He lied so smoothly I would believe him without question.

I wanted to speak for myself, but I couldn't. The council member Boris passed a verdict," Laura Gilbert, you have stolen an important item and tried to sell out your pack. Putting your pack in danger is treason. You're to be hanged for your crimes."

---

"Please don't hang her, Council Member Boris, please. I know my twin sister committed a grievous crime; in fact, it's a sin, but please, killing her is a bit too harsh," Melody begged with crocodile tears on her face.

"I understand you love your twin sister, but she has committed a huge crime. This is the punishment for treason."

"I agree that she betrayed the pack, but it's only because she has always been jealous of me, it's only because Ryan chose me as his luna and not her. Laura has always been a jealous child. She gets jealous when she can't have something someone else has; that's why she went this far. But I'm sure that's not why she went to the mountain witch to cast dark spells on Ryan, making him think he was her mate. I mean, she doesn't even have a wolf. So it's easy to deceive Ryan with black magic, making him think of her as his mate; it's highly possible. And she couldn't handle the fact that Ryan had found me, his true mate, so she decided to take an important treasure of the pack to make Ryan's reign bad; it's all because of jealousy, nothing else, sir."

Melody keeps on painting Laura as evil.

Gasps erupted. People picked stones and threw them at me. It hurt so much. What did I do to get a twin like her? What did I do to be born into such a disgusting family? People who listen to one person's perspective and judge without giving the other party a chance to defend themselves.

---

They kept throwing stones. I saw my family smiling. Melody wore a triumphant smile, as if she had just conquered a kingdom.

"Stop, Order Order, stop at once."

They stopped stoning me, but they didn't stop cursing at me.

"Melody, these are serious claims. Do you have evidence to back up your claims?"

"Yes, I do. This man, Mr. Augu, saw her as she was smuggling the crest into her backpack and running away. He was the one who alerted us to her escape."

"Tailor here is the son of the farmer Reginald. He saw her when she was sneaking through the forest, he followed her and saw her meet with the witch and collect the charm she used on Ryan."

"Caitlyn, our servant, saw her entering the house at 2 in the morning. She said she looked suspicious, so she told me about it, but I didn't want to accuse her, so I just waited for everything to unfold."

---

Melody kept on lying, lie after lie. Fake stories.Fake witnesses. Everything was a lie. I was in so much pain physically, mentally, and emotionally that I couldn't even say anything; I could only grunt in pain.

"You said your maid told you about what she was doing. Why didn't you report to your Alpha or even confide in your parents?" Kate Morgan, the only female council member, asked Melody.

"I didn't have evidence or witnesses to back my claim, so I just waited for the moon goddess to take charge of everything. I prayed every day for the moon goddess to set things right."

Melody and her fake witnesses produced a charm wrapped in a white cloth, stained with blood. Everyone believed her words; no question was asked.

---

"Council members, you have heard and seen evidence of the crime committed by this vermin. Please permit us to get rid of the whore." The Alpha Keagan Reese spoke with his Alpha tone, and everyone bowed their heads in submission.

"As Melody here said, death will be a harsh but just punishment. Instead, let her suffer for her crime by selling her off to the slave traders."The councilman Boris decided the verdict.

The pack, out of loyalty to their Alpha, agreed to sell Laura.

Slave Traders.** My eyes widened with horror. Moon goddess, how long will it continue? When are you going to help me?

Chapter 3

The pack members were excited and happy that Melody was going to be their luna and that they would finally get rid of me. They prepared everything for the occasion, which was going to be huge.

Even in my cell, I could tell how busy everyone was with the preparations. That didn't stop Melody from coming to pay her daily visits.

"Hello, sister. Aren't you going to congratulate me? I'm finally becoming luna something you couldn't become, but don't worry, I'll do better than you could ever do. Today I'm not going to flog you. Let's say that I'm giving you a gift today since your going on a long trip, why not let you breathe for a few hours."

She blabbed about how she was going to mate with Ryan and how she would birth him the strongest pup and be loved by everyone, that I'll be forever known as a traitor to the pack and BeyLuna, even in my grave.

"Melody. Leave here at once, I don't want to smell this trash on you. Please, my love."

Ryan coaxed her.

"Fine, only because I want to smell good for you, you know it's our big day. Be quick, Ryan, I'm waiting outside." She left me alone with Ryan.

Ryan approached me and gripped my chin. His nails, extended to claws, as they pierced through my flesh.

"You used to be the most beautiful woman, Laura, those clear brown eyes that excited me so much I wanted to drown in their beauty. As voluptuous as you were, you turned heads wherever you went. But it wasn't enough, for you lacked the most important thing-a wolf. You could have been my mistress. But now you're haggard, dry, hungry, dirty, and sour. Absolutely disgusting."

He spat tears that formed in my eyes. I still couldn't believe it after all I'd suffered; I'm still in love with this dog. Shame. I felt nothing but disgust at my own thoughts and feelings.

"Now, for all you have done to me. To this pack. You will watch your twin sister, Melody, become my Luna."

I saw a flicker of sadness pass over his eyes, but only for a second. At first I thought something wasn't right, but when he backhanded me.I came back to my senses. I was so weak that I lost consciousness.

---

I woke up in the pack halls. It was looking beautiful, I must confess, decorated nicely with the pack's colors, silver and blue. Blue and silver banners draped around the hall.

The pack gathered with expectant faces, and beneath their breaths, they murmured.Tonight wasn't just a ceremony but the dawn of a new era.

Melody descended from the stairs. Shoulders draped with a Luna's cloak, skillfully woven with intricate silver threads. She had a radiant smile on her face, eyes sharp with hunger, a true queen could hold.

At the end of the stairs. Ryan stood dressed in white, a long blue coat threaded with silver.

The ceremony was in full swing as the pack members pledged their l oyalty to the new Alpha and Luna.

In the shadows of the room, I sat broken and chained. Everyone who passed me would occasionally call me "thief" or "traitor," even "witch." It all felt suffocating. I prayed to the Moon Goddess for it to end.

Laura's heart pounded with helplessness and rage as she watched Melody claim the title meant for her. She swore she would get revenge.

The voice of her tormentor rang out, laced with venom but sweet to the pack's ears as she said:

"Let tonight mark the dawn of a strong pack united under the reign of a Luna and Alpha who will bring nothing but honor and power to Silvermoon. No longer shall weaknesses be among us."

Everyone applauded as they laughed at Laura, who was being called weak. Weakness? She had no weakness. One day, they would know the truth and regret their actions.

---

Later that night...

---

Blackmoon pack

The dim light flickered through the cracked window panes of the manor. Seated in the seat

With a cigarette in his mouth and a gun in the other, he listened to his Beta tell him about Silvermoon's new Luna and Alpha. Even the sale of the Current Alpha's first mate to the slave auction house.

He banged his fist hard on the desk; the Beta wasn't even afraid of the sudden slam.

"Ryan has always been a fool, a spineless idiot, but I never knew he would be this stupid."

"What do you mean, Alpha?"

The Alpha laughed sinisterly and said to the eagerly waiting Beta.

"Laura would want revenge, wouldn't she?"

"Yes, Alpha, but I don't quite understand what your playing at."

He said:

"I will give it to her, not just revenge but also their destruction. Silvermoon will fall in flames...and shame. And she will be the blade I wield."

"You want to use her as a weapon?" The Beta probed

"Yes," The Alpha didn't hesitate to say.

" I will give her power. She knows them. Their weaknesses.Their secrets. She lived, bled for them... and was betrayed by them. No one knows Silveryou're moonase she does."

The Alpha explained slowly, his voice lowering.

The Beta noticed the look in the Alpha's eyes, cold and patient, something darker stirred...vengeance.

"She was called useless. A runt. A traitor. Betrayed by her family, even her twin sister. Her Mate. What they saw is not what I see. I see something different. I see power that's unclaimed, buried beneath pains. I will be the one to dig it out with my claws. I will shape her into something they never imagined."

The Beta finally understood the Alpha's concept and asked: "What if she says no? What if she decides not to do it? What then?"

" Then she will go back in chains or worse. But if she says Yes... Then she will become a queen. A weapon. A storm they never saw coming."

Silence hung heavy between the two men.

"Then we can finally take revenge on Silvermoon for all they did to us, oh, I can't wait."

The Beta said and laughed maniacally.

With a cold smile, the Alpha said:

"We will remind them who they left to rot."

He said as he growled. His wolf has been impatient and thirsty for blood since that day.

---

The cart rattled as they passed an uneven, bumpy path, jarring Laura's already battered and bruised body. The stench of rogues was very prominent. The smell of blood. Sweat. And Damp clothing hung in the air, even breathing was a hard task.

In the wooden cart, there are two girls, no younger than eighteen, the same age as Laura, one with raven-black hair and one with red-ginger hair, each with tear-streaked skin and hollowed cheeks.

No one spoke. The silence was louder than their cries.

Rain began to drizzle. Cold drops splashing on their skin through the holes of the canvas stretched above. One of the guards kicked the bars.

"Lower your heads. Mutt."

The cart hit a bump, and the jolt sent Laura's head slamming against the panel, biting down a cry with her blood filled mouth.

Slowing, losing consciousness, and faith in the Moon Goddess. Laura kept silent and endured the grueling travel.

After hours of travel they finally reached the slave house.

The driver shouted: "Unload 'em!"

Clanking of chains was heard as the back of the cart opened. The guards yanked the girls out. Laura stumbled and scraped her feet against a stone. She was pulled toward a cage huddled with the blood-filled woman in her late twenties, who looked at Laura and asked.

"Silvermoon?"

Laura's breath caught. She nodded.

The woman smirked at her.

"You look like someone they discarded after chewing up."

"Who are you?" Laura managed to say with her croaky voice.

"Kiera. From Bloodvale. Alpha's favorite toy till I aged out. Now I'm here with the rest of you broken dolls."

Laura's heart sank as she looked around and saw some girls no less than thirteen. Each with scars on their bodies and stories to tell.

A man's loud voice sounded after a horn was blown.

"Let the bidding begin!"

Chapter 4

Among the crowd, a silhouette made its way toward the stage and dropped a heavy pouch filled with silver and Gold. Such wealth, only an Alpha could command. Who was this man?

With a deep and commanding voice that cut through the murmurs like a sharp steel blade, he said:

"I'll take the one they call Laura".

Traders hesitated. Called her worthless, some even called her cursed.

"Might be worthless to you, but she's mine!!",

With a swift motion, he lifted Laura effortlessly, as if she weighed nothing.

---

They got into the car and sped off. They disappeared into the shadows. Laura was weak. But hopeful that the man who bought her won't be so hard on her. She had suffered enough, and even though she felt she was meant to suffer for life, she just wanted some time to recuperate.

The Alpha's voice brought Laura out of her thoughts.

"You're wondering who I am. I am Damian Blake-alpha of the Bloodmoon pack. I am Your Master. And you will serve me for the rest of your life."

Damian Blake? Alpha of Bloodmoon? No, this was falling from frying pan to fire. Oh, Moon Goddess, what have I done to make you hate me so much?

---

Bloodmoon pack and Silvermoon have never seen eye to eye. They're rivals. I've heard rumors about Alpha Damian. They say he is Cold and Calculating. A force to be reckoned with. His presence alone commands respect and demands fear.

Even though Laura was half-conscious, her mind was still razor-sharp. She knew the Alpha didn't buy her to be a toy, but as something more. But what?

---

"You're weak. And a runt from the Silvermoon pack. I hate your pack. You will serve me as my maid. You will have to earn your place. I will give you a few days to come around, but once you do, you will start serving me with immediate effect. Do you understand?"

I swallowed hard, fear mixing with a strange hope. I nodded my head quickly as I didn't want to get on his bad side.

---

After a few hours, we arrived at Blackmoon Pack. It was modern. Everything looked clean and expensive. We got to the Pack house.

As the Alpha stepped out of the car, I immediately followed behind.

 "She'll be watched."

He said to the broad-shouldered Beta wolf with eyes like steel. He nodded.

The Beta's mate glanced at me with a measured look, then said to me in a commanding tone:

"You'll learn to respect us all... or suffer the consequences."

I was shown a room where I would stay till I got better. The pack doctor came to check on me and prescribed medicine. The Alpha didn't joke about my health. At first, I thought it was out of kindness, but then I remembered that I was to serve him and he wouldn't want to waste his money.

I stayed in the room for 1week plus before I came out. I heard the maids talking that the Alpha was on a business trip and would be back by the end of next week.

---

Drawn by the scent of freshly-baked bread and the need for normalcy, Laura ventured into the pack kitchen one morning, though she remains wary.

She meets Mara, the head cook. A no-nonsense, but warm-hearted woman who reminds her of the mother figure she longed for. Mara doesn't question her. She hands her a loaf of freshly baked bread and teases her to grow more flesh. She smiles. She likes her.

Laura also meets two lovely omegas, Gina and Lina, who see her scars but don't flinch. They share stories with Laura as they do their chores, helping her regain a sense of belonging.

As they say, not everyone will be welcoming.

Brielle is a sharp-tongued blonde with high status among the unmated she-wolves. She makes Laura her new target. With the Alpha away, there won't be any reason not to play with a cursed stray.

Blonde hair twisted into a ponytail, flawless skin, and a voice that could cut through glass. She leaned against the doorway, blocking Laura. Her sharp blue eyes scanned Laura as if she were a pile of dirt.

"Well, if it isn't our little luna reject," she purred.

"Blackmoon must be running a charity now."

Gina and Lina flinched at her tone.

But remained silent. They couldn't say anything. They were omegas.

Lips tight. Laura straightened up. She said nothing.

Brielle stepped closer and lowered her voice.

"Reject. Don't get too comfortable. Just because the Alpha paid for you doesn't mean you're part of this pack. You're nothing but temporary. Runt."

She pushed her out of the way and laughed as she walked away.

Feeling defeated, Laura ran to her room. Tears in her eyes. Memories of Silvermoon's betrayal clamped like iron shackles on her. She kept her voice softer and raised her walls higher.

The next day, the kitchen staff offered her kind words. But she politely and quietly left them behind.

---

After Brielle's taunts and vicious reminders that she is still seen as a curse even in the Blackmoon pack, Laura folds. Her shell hardens. She speaks less. She tells herself to forget about peace, not to even hope for it.

Refusing to fall apart, she tends to her wounds and forces her healing, quietly volunteering for chores no one wants. She keeps to the corners of the pack house. Unnoticed. Unseen.

Seeking solace, she decides to take a walk in the gardens, where she finds a small girl sitting alone by a wilted flowerbed.

Her wide silver eyes look up at Laura, alert and broken with an ancient look a child shouldn't have. Looking up at Laura with a haunting familiarity.

Words didn't need to be said-two broken souls discarded by those meant to protect them, recognizing each other in silence.

After a silent conversation, the girl stood up and ran away, as if she had just seen a ghost.

"Who was that child?"

Laura thought aloud.

---

A week had passed after she met the little girl.

Laura's scars began to fade. Leaving yellowish and purple marks. Though the physical wounds were healing, the emotional wounds were mending very slowly.

Thanks to her new friends, Gina and Lina, she walked straighter, spoke out now, and did her chores with quiet efficiency.

Vast. That would be the perfect word to describe the pack house. Laura learned the pack house wasn't this big. It was rebuilt by Alpha Damian 2 years after he took over from the previous Alpha. They talked about how rich and handsome he was. Even though Laura was healing, she couldn't even deny the fact that the Alpha was handsome. But cold.

The pack house was filled with rooms she hadn't explored yet. Lucky for her, she was assigned to cleaning the rooms upstairs, Tall doors and dust that wrapped around the air like a blanket.

An old wooden door was slightly open.

She pushed the door open and gasped. Books. A lot of them. Hundreds of them. From the floor to the ceiling shelves. The air was filled with the scent of ink and old parchment paper. Leather gives a warm feeling.

She heard sounds

She traced them. Then she saw her. The girl from the gardens. She looked closely and noticed she was trying to read the words, but all that came out were weird sounds.

The child was curled in a corner, a massive book open between her legs. The child noticed Laura, and her silver eyes flickered, assessing her. She wasn't scared.

Hesitantly, Laura walked up to her, knelt beside her, leaving a respectful space between them enough not to startle her. She told the child.

"I didn't expect to see you here."

Silence. Silver eyes stared at Laura.

The girl closed the book slowly and tilted her head, oddlan y old soul. Laura noted.

Laura glanced at the book"Tale of Moon-born Wolves".

"I loved that book, especially the one about the wolf who talked to the stars," Laura whispered.

The girl blinked.

Laura smiled," I always felt it was unfair that the stars only answered when she was alone..as if they didn't want anyone to know they cared."

Still no response. But the girls' gaze softened.

"You know, when I was your age, I tried talking to the stars, but I only received a scolding and a sore throat."She quietly laughed.

The girl smiled the tiniest smile.

It encouraged Laura.

"And once I thought I could live in the stables forever, I stole a loaf of bread and hid there. I forgot to bring water, so I ended up drinking horse water. I smelled like hay for a week."

The girl giggled. A soft laugh that made her face light up, and Laura's heart swelled.

"Much better," she added," you look even more beautiful when you laugh. Like the stars might talk to you."

The girl pulled a small, carefully preserved flower from her pocket and gave it to Laura.

  "For me?"

The girl nodded once and showed Laura a picture of a silent guardian wolf protecting a little cub.

"I'll look out for you, too." The girl didn't speak but scooted closer to Laura and rested her head against Laura's shoulders.

The two souls found comfort in each other. They stayed silent until it was interrupted by a loud bang and a growl.

"HOW DARE YOU!!"
