Chapter 3

Soon, it was the second round of mock exams.

Chloe and I were seated next to each other. During the test, she kept shooting me looks that were full of provocation and contempt.

I could not help but wonder if she was actually some kind of genius and had learned that foreign dialect overnight.

'You're a huge idiot who's going to score zeros on every test!' I cursed at her again, but Chloe just blinked without saying a word.

Knowing her personality, if I insulted her, she would definitely fire back. So, that meant she still did not understand the foreign dialect.

Then, what was she acting so smug about? I had worried for nothing!

During the second mock exam, I was on high alert. I figured that no matter the physical or sneaky tricks she tried, there was no way she could copy my answers.

However, to my surprise, the moment I finished the last question and put down my pen, she finished at exactly the same time.

It had to be psychological, just my imagination playing tricks on me.

That evening, when I got home, our mom asked Chloe how the test went.

Chloe gave me a meaningful look, then said, "Amazing, of course!"

My heart sank right then and there.

Our mom glanced at me, and her face immediately darkened. "What's wrong, Sienna? You should have done well, too, right? So, why the long face? Are you actually upset that Chloe did well? You really are an ungrateful brat!"

I ignored them and went back to my room to keep studying.

The next day, the results came out.

Sure enough, Chloe's scores were identical to mine.

"That's incredible! The Stevens sisters really are amazing! Both of their scores are so good!"

"Yeah! Chloe, how did you improve so much? You've got to teach us your secret!"

...

Chloe answered impatiently, "I already told you that I was just hiding my abilities before. Now that the college entrance exam is coming up, of course, I have to show my real talent."

I felt suffocated with frustration. The only person in the family who understood our grandmother's foreign dialect was our mom, so she must have taught Chloe!

How could someone be that biased?

Thankfully, during lunch break, our teacher, Ms. Grace Miller, told me that my grades qualified me for early admission to Royalton College.

In my past life, I had the same opportunity, but Chloe rejected it on my behalf while I was not around.

Ms. Miller was confused about why I would turn down such a great opportunity.

When we got home, Chloe immediately tattled on me. "Mom! Dad! Sienna wasn't studying at school. She was on her phone the whole time!"

Our dad grabbed his belt, ready to hit me. "You useless brat! The college entrance exam is almost here, and you're not studying. What do you think you are doing?"

Our mom came over and twisted my ear. "You ungrateful brat! I've been feeding you all that expensive food, and you dare slack off? If you don't get into college, I'm marrying you off to some old man back where your grandma lives!"

Tears streamed down my face as I finally accepted that my parents would never change. "Fine! I'll study. I'll definitely get into Royalton College."

Chloe wanted to copy my answers, right? I would make sure to give her exactly what she wanted.

Chapter 4

The college entrance exam finally arrived, and on the day of the test, our dad drove us while our mom even dressed up in her best outfit to see us off.

For once, our mom was actually gentle with me, constantly reminding me not to overthink things and to answer every question carefully. I agreed to everything she said.

After finishing the first test that morning, our parents picked us up at lunch to take us home for a meal.

The whole ride, the three of them chatted and laughed like I was not even there. At least the lunch was good, so I managed to eat two platefuls.

During the break, I scrolled through Instagram and saw that Chloe had posted a photo. In the picture, she had cropped me out completely, leaving only the three of them.

There was even a caption.

[Don't worry, everyone, I won't let my family down. I'm definitely getting into Royalton College!]

I turned off my phone, forced myself to close my eyes, and rested so I could handle the afternoon exam.

The college entrance exam lasted a few days. During that time, my nerves stayed constantly on edge.

Meanwhile, Chloe posted on social media every single day, showing off how relaxed she was during the exams.

[Today's test was way too easy, even easier than the practice tests! They're basically giving these away! But I bet the cutoff scores will go up this year. I'm so worried!]

[After the test, I'm traveling to Northpoint City to get a head start on the college experience!]

...

Somehow, people actually fell for her act. Some of the struggling students in class even treated her like a goddess and begged her to teach them her methods so they could use them when they retake the exam next year.

I sneered to myself. 'There's no need to rush. Next year, when you two are retaking the exam together, you can ask her for advice every single day.'

Finally, we reached the last test. I carefully filled in my name and registration number exactly as required.

Then, I opened my eyes wide, read each question carefully, and answered thoughtfully. I absolutely could not let any stray emotions slip out and mess this up. After all, avoiding every correct answer while completing the entire test was exhausting.

I finished the whole thing with over half an hour to spare, and I had performed normally, finishing at about my usual pace.

'Go ahead and copy all you want, Chloe!'

The night after the test ended, our mom's attitude flipped immediately, and she went back to feeding me leftovers. Even our family dog ate better than I did.

Early the next morning, my parents left me behind and took Chloe on vacation, saying they wanted to celebrate her getting into Royalton College in advance. I had no choice but to go stay at our grandmother's house.

Before long, the scores were released.

To make sure as many people as possible could witness Chloe getting into Royalton College, my parents had invited everyone they could think of: relatives, friends, neighbors, the whole lot.

When it was time to check our scores, my parents stopped me. "Let Chloe check first. You're the older sister. Don't you have any sense?"

Chloe stepped forward in her cute little outfit, looking elegant.

However, the moment she opened the score page, her face turned deathly pale. "This can't be right! They're all zeros!"

The relatives immediately chimed in. "There must be too many people checking at once. Chloe's scores are so high, the website probably crashed!"

My parents and Chloe thought that made sense.

I pulled out my phone and checked my scores, smirking slightly. Sure enough, all zeros.

My parents were staring at me intently now, asking, "Well? Did you get your scores?"

I said casually, "I did. I'm definitely getting into Royalton College!"

The relatives all praised me, and my parents secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

If my scores were fine, then Chloe's scores could not possibly have any problems either.

They pursed their lips smugly and said, "Chloe is even more amazing! She's definitely getting into Royalton College, too. Chloe, check again."

...

Chloe glanced at me and proudly said, "I won't lose to Sienna. I'm getting into Royalton College, too!"

However, when she opened the score page again, she turned pale with shock. "This can't be! This is impossible!"

Our parents rushed over. When they saw the scores on the screen clearly, they were both completely stunned.

"Impossible, how could this happen? We clearly..." Our dad suddenly caught himself and covered our mom's mouth, forcing himself to stay calm.

"The scores haven't been refreshed yet. No need to panic right now. Let's just wait a bit longer!"

I laughed coldly to myself. Fine, then we would just wait.
