Chapter 2

In that instant, the nurse's expression shifted instantly, her gaze turning to Wendy and her tone sharpening with tension while questioning. "Your friend has a penicillin allergy? You were insisting on administering penicillin to your friend! Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?"

Wendy's eyes were brimming with tears as she tugged on my sleeve aggrievedly. "Did I do something wrong, Yvonne? Why are you being so mean to me? I was just trying to help you get well in time for tomorrow's SAT…"

I would have certainly consoled her in the past, but in this life, I merely retorted coldly, "Do you really think you're a child, or do you just have trouble following simple instructions, Wendy?

"I told you repeatedly about my penicillin allergy, yet you still told the medical staff to administer it to me. Do you actually want me dead, Wendy?"

Wendy cried as she asked, "Why are you being so mean to me, Yvonne? I was only trying to help you."

It was then that Christian, my boyfriend, walked in. He looked at the crying Wendy with pure distress before turning to me, his voice laced with annoyance. "What is it this time, Yvonne? You've frightened Wendy into tears!"

I shook with fury and slapped Christian hard across the face. "You should stop making a fool of yourself if you can't use that brain of yours! Wendy attempted to murder me, and yet she's the one sobbing before I've even contacted the police! Is that how the world works now—whoever cries the loudest is the victim?"

Christian's expression froze for a moment, managing a strained smile after hearing the nurse's explanation.

"I've misunderstood you, Yvonne. You know how Wendy is like a sister to me. She's as innocent as a child and easily intimidated. That's the only reason why I assumed you were being mean to her after seeing her cry, Yvonne."

He then grabbed my hand and continued, "That's enough fussing, Yvonne. Wendy came here with good intentions to look after you, so you should make amends with her after upsetting her. She's been wanting that new Chanel handbag lately, so she'll forgive you if you get it for her, Yvonne."

I stared in shock, my eyes widening. I had done nothing and was already being blamed for bullying Wendy, who had nearly cost me my life, and on top of that, I was expected to buy her a handbag to appease her. I had never seen anyone so shameless before.

Wendy nodded and fixed me with a deliberately naive look. "You were the one who yelled at me and hurt my feelings, but I'm still willing to forgive you if you buy me that Chanel handbag, Yvonne."

Christian nudged me lightly before I could even respond. "Wendy is being so understanding, so you should just hurry up and agree to it, Yvonne."

I felt a dull ache in my chest from the sheer anger.

"You've got to be kidding me! Wendy almost killed me by telling the medical staff to use a drug I'm allergic to! That's attempted murder! I haven't even pressed charges, yet you still want me to buy her a handbag to get back in her good graces! You both have a lot of nerve!"

Christian's expression immediately soured after hearing that.

"Wendy went out of her way to be here at the hospital for you, Yvonne! Instead of thanking her, you pick on her just because you know she won't fight back? And now you refuse to even get her the handbag to make up for it? You're being incredibly selfish, Yvonne!"

I took out my phone and called the emergency line. "If you're so sure I bullied Wendy, let's have the police handle this. I'd like to see which one carries a heavier sentence—Wendy for trying to kill me, or me for yelling at her.

"I guess none of us will be making it to the exams tomorrow. I don't really care, though, since my family is wealthy enough to send me abroad to study regardless. You two, however, will be stuck waiting for another year for the SAT."

Christian, intimidated by my threat, instantly grabbed Wendy, saying, "Let's get out of here, Wendy. There's no point wasting our time on someone this ungrateful."

Chapter 3

I sat down and asked the nurse to swap out the IV drip once Christian and Wendy left. I was aware that calling the police wouldn't really work, but I did it just to rattle Christian, who was incredibly anxious about the SAT and couldn't risk even the slightest mishap.

I returned to the dormitory that evening and immediately packed my exam essentials into my bag before locking it inside my cabinet.

In my past life, Wendy used the excuse of compensating me to pack my exam materials. I wasn't feeling well then, and since she seemed well-intentioned, I didn't stop her.

I double-checked everything and went for the SAT after she packed it, but midway through, a crumpled ball of paper fell out of my clear zip-lock exam bag. I was immediately accused of cheating, and when the invigilator opened the crumpled paper ball, it was discovered to be a cheat sheet.

I was convicted of cheating, my exam scores were voided, and I even faced the possibility of imprisonment. I broke down and confronted Wendy, demanding to know why she set me up.

Wendy burst into tears and threw herself into Christian's arms instead, asking, "What are you talking about, Yvonne? I don't know anything about that! You're scaring me!"

Christian, in his role as my boyfriend, stepped forward to testify against me, claiming I had personally prepared the SAT cheat sheet.

I tried to drag Wendy to have the handwriting analyzed, only for her to push me down the stairs, where I fell to my death.

I couldn't help but clench my fists as I recalled the horrible way I had died in my past life.

I took out the exam bag I had personally packed the following day, and after verifying that everything was exactly as it should be, I stowed it in my backpack.

I arrived at the exam site and gathered with the other students in one area. It was ten minutes later when the main doors opened, and the students began entering the exam site in succession.

I had just reached into my backpack for my exam bag when I discovered that it was missing. I immediately panicked as I rummaged through my backpack. I even ran to the bus to look for it, but it was nowhere to be found.

I rushed back and realized that all the students were already in the hall. I got urged by the teacher to head in as well. As distressed as I was, I had no choice but to look at the teacher and tell her that I had lost my exam bag.

Upon hearing that, the teacher furrowed their brow and asked, "How could you not have your materials ready when the SAT is such a major event, Yvonne? I'll have someone print your admission ticket and buy new supplies right now, so go get a temporary ID issued. You might still make it, Yvonne."

I kept nodding while thanking the teacher.

It was then that someone suddenly spoke up. "Is this your exam bag, Yvonne?"

I glanced at it and saw my belongings inside. I nodded and asked, "How did it end up with you?"

Wendy explained with a smile, "I found it on the bus, wedged in a gap beneath your seat. I guess you must have accidentally dropped it, Yvonne."

I didn't believe a word Wendy said. I had my backpack zipped shut the entire time, making it impossible for anything to drop out of it. I had also just checked the bus thoroughly and found nothing, so there was no way the exam bag would end up in Wendy's hands.

I was just about to press her for answers when the teacher suddenly interjected, saying, "You should hurry inside and stop dallying since you've found it; otherwise, you're going to be late, Yvonne."

I was urged into the exam hall, but I couldn't help but feel deeply unsettled as I held onto the exam bag Wendy returned to me. I still couldn't shake off a sense of foreboding, even though I had repeatedly inspected the items in the exam bag.

I immediately got up and ran out of the exam hall the moment the bell signaling the start of the SAT rang, leaving everyone stunned.

It wasn't long before the first exam ended, and students came out of the exam hall one after another. Wendy suddenly turned to me and exclaimed, "You're truly something, Yvonne—to think you'd actually cheat on the SAT!"

Chapter 4

Wendy's remarks immediately attracted everyone's attention, causing every single one of them to turn their gaze toward me.

I snapped at her in a fit of rage, yelling, "What the hell are you talking about?"

Wendy acted as if she had accidentally let something slip and immediately covered her mouth. "I'm so sorry, Yvonne. I'm just saying whatever comes to mind. I hope you're not mad at me…"

I immediately snapped, "You'd better stop spouting nonsense this instant, Wendy!"

I was preparing to leave when I was suddenly stopped. "I'm one of the invigilators assigned to this exam hall. I have received a report that you may be suspected of cheating, so please cooperate with the investigation."

I furrowed my brow and said, "I didn't cheat on the SAT."

Wendy nodded repeatedly, saying, "That's right. Yvonne didn't cheat. She only brought a cheat sheet in her exam bag, so don't blame her for that."

I felt a sharp pain in my chest from the anger. "You'd better stop slandering me with those lies, Wendy!"

Wendy's eyes immediately welled up with tears. She stomped her feet and started sobbing, saying, "I'm just trying to help you, yet you're scolding me instead! You're really hurting my feelings, Yvonne!"

Upon taking my exam bag and looking through it several times with a stern expression, the invigilator failed to find any so-called cheat sheet. He then furrowed his brow slightly and said, "I'm sorry. It seems like we misunderstood the situation."

It was then that Wendy, who was holding a water bottle, suddenly slammed into me, pouring the water all over my exam bag. She then put on that feigned, innocent look of hers and said, "I'm so sorry, Yvonne. I'm such a klutz! I didn't mean to get your things wet! You're okay, right?"

I was just about to say something when someone suddenly pointed at my exam bag, exclaiming, "Check it out! There's some writing on the back of her admission ticket!"

I looked down to see dense handwriting bleeding through the water-soaked admission ticket, and before long, the invigilator snatched it up, his expression turning grim. "You've got some nerve, Yvonne—cheating on the SAT is a federal crime!"

I was shaking all over from panic. "I don't know how that got there! I didn't write any of those! I didn't cheat on the SAT!"

Christian stepped forward from the crowd, looking at me with utter disappointment. "If you just admit it now, they might go easy on you, Yvonne. You should stop being so stubborn at this moment."

I snapped and yelled at the top of my lungs, "I didn't do anything wrong, so there's no way I'm confessing to anything!"

Christian shook his head in resignation before saying, "I'm Yvonne's boyfriend. She told me she was going to use an invisible-ink pen to write down those notes on the admission ticket last night. I tried to talk her out of it, but I guess she went ahead and did it anyway."

In that instant, I was met with the angry gazes of every single person who had just taken the exam.

"You're truly unbelievable! Do you know how much we've been grinding just for the SAT? How dare you cheat your way through!"

"How can you do this to those of us who actually work hard? Your kind is exactly why I failed my SAT last year! You truly deserve to die!"

Those indignant crowds—those who had previously failed the SAT—turned their fury on me. They started pelting me with their drinks and whatever books they had on hand.

"You're actually cheating on the SAT? You're such a lowlife! You should just drop dead!"

"I'm calling the authorities this instant! You should rot in jail instead of destroying other candidates' chances!"

It was then that a group of invigilators walked out of the exam hall. They immediately furrowed their brows upon hearing the commotion. "Who cheated on the SAT? Which room did this happen in? Who was the presiding invigilator?"

Upon hearing that, the invigilator who had been questioning me earlier looked at my admission ticket and replied, "She's from Room 18—Seat 08."

It was then that one of the invigilators from the group blurted out, "That candidate in Seat 08 didn't even show up. How could she possibly cheat on the SAT?"
