Reborn After Betrayal: No Mercy for His Sweetheart Chapter 1

On the eve of the SAT exam, I caught a flu and became feverish, and developed a throat infection. My boyfriend's childhood friend, Wendy Cooper, accompanied me to the hospital so that I could receive an IV treatment there.

I specifically told Wendy to let the doctor know that I was allergic to penicillin. Once my IV drip was ready, I raised my head to see the word "penicillin" labeled on the medicinal drip bag.

Enraged, I summoned a doctor to remove the needle from my arm. At the same time, I demanded angrily, "I'm allergic to penicillin, so why did you still prescribe it to me?"

The doctor frowned deeply at Wendy immediately.

"Miss, your friend was the one who told us to prescribe you penicillin. She claims that you'll be able to make a quick recovery and that you'll be able to attend the exam without a hitch tomorrow."

Wendy looked at me in an aggrieved manner.

"I'm so sorry, Yvonne. I just wanted you to get well as soon as possible so that your performance on the exam won't get affected at all. This is all my fault. I'm so stupid that I can't even do one little thing right…"

I let out a sigh before telling Wendy to be more careful next time.

In order to show how apologetic she was, Wendy offered to pack up the stuff I needed for the SAT exam.

In the middle of the exam, when I was filling in the answer sheet, a balled-up note suddenly rolled out of my pencil case.

Someone reported me for cheating on the spot. When the invigilator unwrapped the note, he found out that it was completely filled with answers.

I was labeled as a cheater on the spot and got kicked out of the exam venue. Because of the severity of this issue, I'd be facing jail time.

I turned to glare at Wendy furiously and demanded why she wanted to harm me. But Wendy just rushed into my boyfriend, Christian Shepherd's arms while crying at the top of her lungs.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Yvonne!"

Even Christian gave his testimony that I was the one who had prepared the note in an attempt to cheat on the exam.

When I tried to drag Wendy over to the police station to have her penmanship tested, she pushed me down the stairs, resulting in my death.

When I open my eyes again, I've returned to the day before the SAT exam starts.

It was then that the nurse said, "I'll be setting up your IV drip now, Yvonne. You'll need to stick to a bland diet—nothing cold or spicy—for two days. You'll also have to take your prescribed medication on time."

I shuddered as I heard the familiar words. I rose to my feet, looked at the clock on the hospital wall, and realized instantly that I had been reborn.

I suddenly felt someone pressing down on my shoulder, saying, "What's the matter with you, Yvonne? You should sit down and get your IV started. You'll be able to rest sooner if we finish this faster. You've got the SAT tomorrow, after all."

I immediately shoved Wendy Cooper aside as I recalled the suffering of my past life.

Wendy looked at me with grievance written all over her face. "What was that about, Yvonne? How could you treat me in such a manner when I came to the hospital with you out of concern? I'm so heartbroken, Yvonne."

In my past life, Wendy played the part of the clumsy, helpless damsel, expecting everyone to coddle her. I went out of my way to look after her for the sake of my boyfriend, Christian Shepherd.

I actually felt touched that she came along when I went to the hospital for an IV drip due to a cold and an inflamed throat, thinking that despite her affectations, she was fundamentally kind.

I had made a point of telling Wendy about my penicillin allergy so she could inform the doctor, but once the drip started, I noticed the word "penicillin" printed on the IV bag.

I panicked, ripped the needle from my arm, and shouted for the doctor. I then demanded an explanation. "How could you put me on this IV drip when I specifically told you that I'm allergic to penicillin?"

It was then that the doctor quickly explained, "Your friend was the one who insisted on using penicillin, saying that it would make you recover faster and wouldn't interfere with your exam tomorrow."

I didn't even have time to get mad before Wendy started weeping. "I'm so sorry, Yvonne. It's my fault for being so foolish. I only wanted you to get well sooner. I didn't realize I was actually doing something wrong. You can just go ahead and yell at me, Yvonne."

I merely told her to be more careful moving forward, giving her a pass because of Christian.

I finally came to realized that Wendy had done it on purpose as I recalled my past life. I clenched my fists as I looked at the nurse, who was about to start the IV, and said, "I'm allergic to penicillin."
