Chapter 2

As I thought back to the incidents in my previous life, I clenched my fists. Seeing the two people and one cat at the dining table, overwhelming hatred made me want to act impulsively.

Yet, thinking of my newborn daughter, Ella, I could only suppress this anger for now. This time, I would make all of them pay dearly!

"Claire, what are you standing there for? Come sit down!" As she spoke, Leah handed me a bowl of dark, murky soup.

"Drink it while it's hot. This will restore your strength. It'll help with your milk supply too." She lifted the bowl in my hands as she spoke, her eyes full of expectation.

Before, I would have drunk it without hesitation. Now, however, I gently set the bowl on the table.

"It's a little hot. I'll drink it in a moment."

This soup was meant to reduce breast milk production. I remembered losing my milk supply after drinking this bowl of soup. I was forced to give Ella formula, which also gave Poppy the opportunity she had been looking for.

When Leah heard me say that, disappointment flashed in her eyes. "Alright. Just don't forget to drink it."

I ignored her and sat down next to Neil. Then, I affectionately brought my mouth close to his face. "Honey, I want you to make me your pot roast."

I could clearly feel Neil's body stiffen at this gesture. His first reaction was not to answer me but to look somewhat fearfully at Poppy, who was eating.

Poppy also noticed my actions and bared her teeth. Her eyes became incredibly fierce.

"Honey, say something! I also want you to make me ribs and coleslaw."

As I spoke, I gently rested my head on his shoulder and unconsciously caressed his abs with my hand.

Of course, my gaze never left Poppy. She was bristling now, making strange sounds from her mouth. It did not sound like a cat's meow but more like a woman's scream, only somewhat deeper.

I had angered her, but this was not enough. I stared at her intently, then provocatively raised my eyebrows at her.

The next moment, she charged straight at me. Fortunately, I was prepared and quickly hid behind Neil.

Poppy did not want to hurt Neil, so she forced herself to stop, but momentum still made her take a few steps forward. She knocked the bowl of soup off the table perfectly.

I seized the opportunity and grabbed Poppy by the scruff of her neck. I lifted her high, then slammed her hard onto the ground. "You're just a pet that I feed, and you think you can lord over me?"

I then kicked her hard in the chest. Poppy's previous arrogant attitude completely disappeared from the pain.

Neil shoved me hard and shouted, "Have you lost your mind? What are you doing?"

Leah screamed and quickly knelt down to pick up Poppy.

"Claire, you're absolutely insane! Why are you picking on a cat? Do you realize you could've killed her?" Neil was extremely agitated, and his eyes had turned red with anger.

I curved my lips into a smile as I looked at Poppy. She was panting slightly with saliva dripping down, looking quite pitiful.

Leah cried while comforting Poppy in her arms, "Stop arguing! We need to get to the hospital right now!"

Chapter 3

After speaking, the two of them hurriedly put on their coats. As they were leaving, Neil gritted his teeth and threatened me, "If anything happens to Poppy, I'll never forgive you!"

Watching their hurried departure, my heart finally settled. Without daring to delay any longer, I immediately called a contractor online.

"I need five hidden cameras. Yes, the kind that can record audio too. How fast can you get here? Can you come any sooner? I'll pay extra!"

After getting a positive answer, I finally felt completely at ease.

The next moment, Ella's crying came from the bedroom. I rushed in and quickly picked her up to comfort her. Then, I tentatively tried breastfeeding her. Seeing her suckling obediently, I could not hold back my tears.

After soothing Ella, Leah called.

"Claire, did you drink that nourishing soup? There's more in the pot. You absolutely must remember to drink it."

I tried to sound normal. "I know, Leah. I'll drink it. By the way, is Poppy okay?"

I deliberately sniffled, pretending I had just been crying. "I'm sorry, Leah. I just gave birth, and I'm under a lot of stress. What I did earlier was impulsive of me. Poppy's okay, right?"

Leah was quiet for a moment, then sighed heavily. "She's fine, just a little shaken up."

Suddenly, she raised her voice. "You absolutely can't do something like that again! Do you hear me?"

"Okay. When are you coming back?"

"Probably tonight. Remember to drink the soup."

After that, Leah ended the call.

Not long after, the contractor arrived to install the cameras. By the time he was done, it was nearly 6:00 pm. When he left, I specifically asked him to help me throw out the soup in the pot.

Neil and Leah returned around 11:00 pm. Seeing me waiting at the door, Neil looked wary as he held Poppy in his arms.

I quickly apologized, repeatedly saying I was wrong.

"So, you do know you were wrong? This is a living being! What did you think you were doing? Thank God she's okay! If something had happened, I would never have forgiven you!"

At that moment, I even saw murderous intent in Neil's eyes.

Poppy lay contentedly in his arms, deliberately blinking a few times before sticking her tongue out at me. Finally, she smugly placed her paw on Neil's chest, as if declaring ownership.

Leah went straight to the kitchen. When she saw the empty pot, she came out smiling.

"Claire, you finished it all?"

I nodded, and then she and Neil exchanged a glance.

"Alright, we should get to bed, then. It's late. You should sleep too."

After speaking, Neil carried Poppy into his bedroom. As he closed the door, I saw him frantically kissing Poppy's face.

At 1:00 am, I was still wide awake. There was half an hour left until feeding time, and my anxiety was growing.

Ten minutes later, my bedroom door was pushed open by a crack. Neil softly called my name, "Claire, Claire? Are you asleep?"

I kept my eyes tightly shut, not daring to respond. He assumed I was sound asleep and tiptoed in.

Through the darkness, I squinted and watched him carefully place Poppy next to Ella.

Chapter 4

Poppy first arched her back, then slowly bent down. Finally, she positioned her chest against Ella's mouth.

Light filtered through the curtains, and from the moonlight, I could see Poppy's smooth chest. Her breasts looked like those of a fully developed woman.

Ella opened her mouth in her sleep and instinctively began to suckle. The next second, Poppy let out a quiet cry of pain.

This sound immediately made Neil tense up. He whispered, "Honey, what's wrong? Does it hurt?"

Poppy painfully shook her head and whimpered again. Ella could not get any milk and bit down harder. When she finally realized there was no milk, she started crying.

I opened my eyes just in time to see Neil frantically picking up Poppy.

"What happened?" I asked.

He looked panicked and scared. "Nothing. I just missed you. I wanted to sleep with you tonight."

As he spoke, he kept looking down to check Poppy's reaction.

"Since the baby's awake, you should comfort her first. I'll go back to my room."

Without acknowledging me at all, he left while carrying Poppy. I lovingly held Ella and breastfed her while opening the surveillance feed to Leah's room.

"No milk? That's impossible! Claire has drunk the medicine. Poppy should definitely have milk!"

Neil sounded urgent. "There really isn't any milk! Poppy's chest is all red from being bitten, but there's still no milk!"

Leah looked completely bewildered. "How could this happen? What about Claire? Does she have milk?"

This question made Neil hesitate. "I think... Maybe? I didn't pay attention!"

"Don't panic. Maybe I didn't make enough of the soup today. I'll make her drink more tomorrow. I refuse to believe it won't work."

Watching the two people and one cat in the surveillance feed made me feel sick to my stomach. Without thinking, I opened my live stream and was shocked to find it was packed with viewers.

Neil would probably never imagine that the scene of Poppy trying to nurse had just been broadcast live. Many people were asking if I would sell Poppy, and several sent private messages offering high prices for her.

I went through the messages before finally selecting a man from the same city as me.

[If you're serious about buying, I'm serious about selling. Just a hundred dollars, and she's yours.]

At first, he was suspicious. [She's a mystical cat, and you're selling her for this cheap?]

[Yes, I don't want her anymore.]

I sent him my exact address. [This cat is hard to catch. You'll need to bring several people tomorrow—preferably all men. Let's set the time for 7:30 am. Don't be late.]

After sending that, I logged out of the app. Ella had drunk her fill and fallen into a deep sleep. However, I could not sleep at all. Lying in bed, I was filled with anticipation for what would happen tomorrow.

Sure enough, at 7:20 am, Leah pushed open my bedroom door. She brought me a bowl of dark-colored soup and demanded I drink it.

When I refused, her expression immediately changed. "You have to drink this soup!"

As soon as she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door. I pushed past Leah while holding Ella and opened the door.

Outside stood seven burly men. The leader looked eager to please as he asked, "Are you the one from last night?"

I nodded and invited them in. Sensing something was wrong, Leah quickly woke up Neil.

"Who are you people? What are you here for?"

As he questioned them, Poppy followed him out. I said casually, "They're here to buy Poppy."

I looked back at the leader of the group. "That's the cat you saw last night. Go catch her. If you can catch her with your bare hands, I won't charge you a penny."

The men did not need any more encouragement and immediately got to work. Poppy reacted quickly, jumping and running around until the whole house was in chaos.

Coupled with Neil and Leah trying to interfere, catching her became even more difficult. However, with so many of them, they eventually succeeded. The leader grabbed Poppy by the tail and lifted her up, dangling her upside down.

Poppy tried to fight back, constantly swiping with her claws. The man smacked her on the head, and she cried out pitifully before fainting on the spot.

Seeing this, Neil went crazy and desperately tried to snatch her back. However, the man casually tossed Poppy to a friend behind him and grinned as he nodded at me. "Lady, I caught her. So, I don't have to pay, right?"

I was about to speak when Neil suddenly grabbed my collar and yanked me toward him. He gritted his teeth. "It's you? Why would you do this? You give me back that cat right now!"
