My Husband Fell For Her Lies, Now He Regrets Chapter 1

Dana deliberately spilled water on the stairs, glanced around, and then dramatically threw herself down, shrieking, “Cynthia!”

Her scream pierced the silence like a siren. Daniel burst into the hallway, panic in his eyes, his face drained of color. Dana clutched her stomach, whimpering as if she were cradling something sacred.

“She pushed me,” Dana cried, her voice trembling. “She was angry that you gave me your jacket!”

Daniel turned to me, his face twisted with fury. “What the hell is wrong with you?! She’s pregnant, Cynthia!”

I stood there frozen, staring at them… at her. Speechless. I hadn’t even touched her. She fell on purpose, like she was rehearsing for a stage play, and the audience was Daniel’s blind trust.

I never imagined that saying “I do” would lead me here… sharing a home, a man, and my very sanity with my stepsister. The same stepsister who seduced my husband, stole my life, and now lives under my roof like a guest of honor.

They all call her a child, a misguided girl who made a mistake. But I call her what she is… a manipulator in designer shoes. She drugged my husband and somehow I became the villain for not forgiving her fast enough.

I cooked for him, prayed for him, loved him like he was my whole world. She slipped something into his drink, crawled into our bed, and everyone keeps telling me to be more understanding. As if loyalty is a curse and betrayal is something I should wrap in a bow and swallow whole.

My stepmother had the nerve to say, “You should be glad Dana is staying with you. It shows you’re a good woman.”

Glad? I’m supposed to be glad that the girl who destroyed my marriage now walks freely through my home, rubbing her belly like a badge of victory?

My father looked me dead in the eye and said, “Family must stay together.” But what about the family she ripped apart? What about me?

I sleep in the same bed where they sinned. I walk across floors stained with betrayal. And yet I’m the one expected to smile and act like everything is fine. I used to be a wife. Now I’m a ghost in my own house, a stranger living in the shell of someone else's dream.

They call it a mistake… her drugging him, seducing him, destroying me. But this isn't a mistake. This is war.

Dana sigh and say softly, “Daniel, I don’t think Cynthia wants me here.”

Daniel looked up, brows furrowed. “Dana, that’s not true.”

“She barely talks to me,” Dana sniffled. “She never asks how I’m doing, or how the baby is. I know I messed up, but I’m carrying your child. Doesn’t that matter to her?”

Daniel sighed, helping her onto the couch like she was made of glass. “Dana, don’t do this…”

“I just feel so unwelcome,” she whispered, eyes glancing at me as if daring me to speak. “She pushed me, Daniel. I was scared for our baby.”

I rolled my eyes. I saw through her lies, but Daniel didn’t. He never did.

He believed every word she said like it was gospel. And me? His wife? I was just white noise in the background.

I remembered the day I spent hours cooking his favorite meal. While I showered, Dana snuck into the kitchen and dumped salt into the pot. At dinner, Daniel took one bite and spat it out.

“What the hell is this?!” he barked, disgusted.

Dana feigned concern. “Maybe she’s stressed, Daniel. Cooking isn’t for everyone.”

She smirked across the table while I sat there swallowing my rage. He didn’t even glance my way. Didn’t ask what happened. Just believed her.

“You owe Dana an apology,” he snapped later that night. “You pushed her… it’s the least you can do.”

“I didn’t push her! She’s faking it!” I shouted, tired of the lies.

“How can you say that?” he snapped. “So you think she’s throwing herself down the stairs for fun? That’s ridiculous, Cynthia. She’s pregnant!”

Every time I open my mouth, I feel invisible. Like I’m screaming into a void no one hears. I’m the woman who shares his bed, but not his heart.

Sometimes, I wonder if I disappeared, would anyone even notice? Would he care?

“I’m your wife,” I said, voice trembling. “When did you stop believing me?”

“Oh, stop this drama, Cynthia. This isn’t about sides,” he said, brushing me off.

Then Dana, with her venom-laced sweetness, said, “Don’t act like you love him. I know you wish you never married him.”

My heart dropped. Where the hell was that coming from?

Daniel turned to me slowly. “Is that true? You’ve been saying that about me?”

Dana pulled out a paper and handed it to him. “She wrote it. ‘Some days, I wish I never married him.’ Look at it.”

“What? Of course not! That’s not even my handwriting…”

He didn’t question it. He didn’t look at me. Just stared at the page like it told him everything he needed to know.

“You really wrote this?” he asked, voice hollow.

“She’s faking it,” I whispered. “That’s not me. You used to know me better than anyone. Now you treat me like the villain.”

“She’s so cruel to you, Dan,” Dana added softly, clinging to him. “You deserve better.”

And just like that, I felt the earth shift beneath my feet. The love we once had? It was gone, buried beneath lies, betrayal, and the stepsister who came to destroy me.
