Chapter 1

On a scorching hot day, my husband suddenly told our daughter at school that he wanted to see the dance she had just learned and asked her to take a video for him to watch.

Despite being sick, my daughter danced for an hour under the high temperature on the playground and eventually fainted.

When I arrived at the school, my daughter was already on the verge of death, but she still held onto her phone tightly.

"Dad said he wanted to see the dance, but I haven't finished recording..."

In the end, our daughter died of heat stroke in the hospital.

I was emotionally devastated and made more than a dozen phone calls to my husband, but he impatiently said, "Are you going to die if you don't have a man to accompany you for a while?"

I heard a faint laughter on the other end and angrily shouted, "Ryan, you always opposed our daughter learning dance, but why did you make her dance for you on such a hot day!"

The next second, I heard the voice of his female secretary, "Sandra, don't blame Ryan. I was feeling sick and uncomfortable today, so he asked your daughter to dance to cheer me up. If you want to blame someone, blame me!"

At that moment, I decided to cut the relationship with him, so I said, "Please tell Ryan to come back home for divorce."

Ryan didn't take it seriously at all. After comforting Rosy, he calmly said to me, "Sandra, if you leave me, you and our daughter will end up sleeping on the streets!"

I endured the grief and handled my daughter's affairs alone, letting her leave with dignity.

But Ryan didn't come home for several days, he traveled and visited art exhibitions with his female secretary!

The house was filled with our daughter's toys. Every time I closed my eyes, I could see her smiling at me in the living room. Every breath for me was painful.

Until the seventh evening, Ryan finally came back.

Ryan glanced at me with a mocking expression.

"Are you deliberately dressing up to look haggard and pitiful? You really went to great lengths to seduce me."

Ryan took off his tie and coat, and when he walked into the living room, he didn't even look at me carefully.

"Help me prepare the bathwater. I want to take a shower first. Fry a steak tonight, medium rare, not overcooked."

After giving me instructions, Ryan walked into the bathroom without looking back.

Ryan was a typical male chauvinist. He didn't want his wife to work outside. He asked me to quit my beloved career and be a housewife.

In order to make him live a comfortable life, I went from being a woman who had never done housework to a housewife who excelled in everything.

But unexpectedly, despite my wholehearted efforts in the thirteen years of my marriage, I had not gained an ounce of respect.

This time, in the face of his expected command, I ignored it.

After Ryan finished shaving, he saw that I hadn't gone in to prepare the bathwater for him, so he walked out of the living room and saw me sitting on the sofa tightly holding onto my daughter's favorite toy motionlessly.

"Are you still angry about what happened last time? It was just a joke, was it necessary?"

My eyes were red, and I turned my head and stared at him fiercely, "A joke? Do you think it's a joke to make our daughter dance on the playground in the scorching heat to please your female secretary?"

If it weren't for that, my daughter wouldn't have died at all!

Just the thought of our daughter feeling sorry for not finishing that dance until her last moment made my heart ache even more.

Ryan saw me crying as I spoke, and he also paused for a moment, "Is our daughter unhappy? It's okay, I specially bought a strawberry cake for her today. I'll call her out to eat it later."

He brought in a beautifully packaged strawberry cake from the entrance of the house.

But the gift box was obviously opened, and the bow on top was all scattered.

"Look, there are Disneyland patterns on this cake, our daughter will definitely like it."

I glanced in the direction of the cake, and my heart turned cold.

I remember this cake, a few days ago, it appeared on Rosy's Instagram.

At that time, Rosy's caption was: 'Thank Mr. Smith for accompanying me on the trip. I feel much better these days. Let's go to have a Michelin-starred dinner together tonight!'

However, in the corner of the photo, there was still a big cake in the trash can.

It was the one that Ryan brought home.

The cream on the cake had melted, and the so-called Disneyland pattern was all smudged. It may have gone bad a long time ago.

I never expected that Ryan would actually bring something that someone else didn't want to give to his daughter.

At this moment, my heart turned to ashes and said, "Ryan, our daughter is allergic to strawberries. She never eats strawberry cake."

Ryan's face flashed a hint of surprise.

"Also, take some time tomorrow to go to the county clerk's office and get the divorce certificate."

After saying this, I felt as if all my strength had been drained.

Ryan became angry and stood up abruptly and said, "Sandra, what nonsense are you talking about? Don't think that threatening me with divorce will work."

"If you really want a divorce, you should ask our daughter if she agrees! If we really divorce, I won't let her suffer."

After saying that, Ryan didn't even bother to take a shower and angrily walked out of the house.

He had always been like this, no matter what happened, he never thought he's at fault. In the past, I would take the initiative to make peace, apologize, and coax him for a long time.

Nowadays, just one glance at him made me feel annoyed.

After taking out the signed divorce agreement from the drawer, I called for a courier and sent it directly to his company.

However, after packing up my things, I left this place that had confined me for over a decade.

Chapter 2

Ryan disliked my daughter learning dance the most, but it was because of dance that I met him.

It was at the sophomore party, I, as the representative of the Art College, went up to perform a solo dance for everyone.

But someone secretly cut my dance costume.

When I was halfway through the dance on stage, my costume fell apart, almost exposing me.

At that time, the audience below were all pointing and whispering about me. Ryan rushed up to the stage, took off his own coat, and wrapped it around me.

He said, "Don't be afraid, I'll take you down."

At that moment, he, to me, was like a god descending from heaven.

Since then, I started paying attention to this kind and handsome boy.

But I was an orphan, my parents were both deceased, and the gap between me and Ryan, a wealthy nobleman, was too big. I knew deep down that it was impossible for us to be together.

So I could only hide my love for him deep in my heart.

I met Ryan again at a business banquet after graduating from college.

He was the big boss that everyone tried to please at the banquet, and I was a dancer performing at the event.

That day, someone got drunk and tried to touch me inappropriately and said, 'Aren't you dancers just selling yourselves?'

I didn't want Ryan to see me being bullied, so I resisted with all my might and ended up injuring the person with a bottle of alcohol.

That person threatened to make me pay until I was bankrupt.

Once again, Ryan helped me out of the trouble.

After Ryan sent me home that day, he looked at the passing vehicles ahead and suddenly said to me, "I noticed you when we were in school. I really like you. If you also like me, how about marrying me?"

Ryan gave me hope during the most difficult time of my life, and I once considered him the most important gift given to me by fate.

After getting married, we had a period of particularly happy days.

He was gentle, considerate, and insisted on marrying me despite the opposition from his family.

After the birth of our daughter, Ryan would personally take care of everything related to the child, no matter how busy he was with work.

He would change diapers, feed formula, and say to me, "This child is so small and cute."

Once, the formula was too hot and burned the daughter, causing her to cry loudly. He was so worried and kept apologizing.

He also said that his daughter is his life, and he would never let anyone harm her.

However, everything changed when Rosy appeared.

Rosy is a junior schoolmate of Ryan.

But more importantly, she looked very similar to the deceased sweet heart of Ryan.

This made Ryan's long-lost love raised again.

When Rosy deliberately took the front passenger seat, Ryan said that she was just an innocent little girl and did not intentionally embarrass me.

On his daughter's birthday, Ryan would suddenly receive a call from Rosy and rush out of the house.

In the face of my questioning, Ryan always said that she was young and needed him to take care of her.

But he forgot that our daughter was only ten years old and needed her father's company even more.

In order to give our daughter a complete family and for the sake of my past love, I had tried various methods to win back Ryan's heart.

But what I got in return was his disdain. He said,"'Rosy is right, you really want to bind me to you by all means."

Ryan's heart was already completely on another woman.

And he openly expressed his love for her, even going so far as to make our daughter dance and film videos for them in the scorching heat, just to make Rosy happy.

He clearly knew that our daughter was everything to me, so why did he let our daughter die!

In just a few days, my hair on forehead had already turned white.

Staring blankly at our daughter turning into ashes, I had completely given up on Ryan.

Chapter 3

After moving out of the villa, I moved into the old and shabby house I bought before getting married.

After arranging my daughter's clothes and toys properly, I took her ashes and prepared to bury her in the cemetery.

Before I went out, Ryan's phone kept ringing one after another.

In the past, it was difficult for my daughter to see him at home.

I had to hold my phone and make video calls to him over and over again.

But what I got in return was Ryan's impatient reproach.

"I just had a late social engagement, but you call me again and again. Can't you stop being so melodramatic?"

Now I saw dozens of missed calls on my phone. Without hesitation, I turned the phone off.

When my daughter wanted her father's company, he was always absent. Now that the child had passed away, I didn't want unnecessary people to disturb this final moment.

Unexpectedly, when I arrived at the cemetery, I saw Ryan and Rosy.

Rosy was holding a box in her hands and leaning on Ryan's shoulder, crying like a fool with tears streaming down her face.

I didn't want to see them, so I turned around and left on the spot.

I heard the angry voice of Ryan.

"Sandra, stop!"

I held my daughter's ashes box, like a walking dead, I didn't want to pay attention to him at all.

But Ryan stepped forward to stop me, and a trace of disgust flashed in his eyes.

""Where is our daughter?

I find it ridiculous and said, "You only think of finding our daughter now? It's too late!"

Ryan's face was full of anger: "The teachers at school said she hasn't been to class for several days. How do you educate your child as a mother? Call her out now, I must educate her well today!"

I looked at him blankly and said, "Get out of the way, don't block my way."

Ryan's face darkened: "Do you know, Sandra, that our daughter, at such a young age, has a malicious mind. Just yesterday, she actually stabbed the little dog raised by Rosy to death with a knife!"

I looked up at Ryan in disbelief.

After my daughter died, I couldn't contact Ryan. I had already informed his assistant as soon as possible.

I thought that when he mentioned the child, he would feel guilty in his heart, but he was actually accusing his daughter for Rosy.

Even though his daughter was dead, he still wanted to slander her.

Such a person was really unworthy of being a father!

I tried my best to restrain myself and choked out, 'Ryan, our daughter grew up under your care. She is usually so kind that she can't even bear to step on an ant. How can you have the face to misunderstand our daughter?!'

Ryan coldly shook his head and said, "Rosy is right. You won't admit it until you see solid evidence."

"Take a look at this yourself!"
