Chapter 4

The message reads"You think you know everything isabella, but some truths are hidden in plain sight. Watch your back.Dont think you can be better than us."

Her fingers trembled as she read it. The message was unsigned, but she knew it was from janet.

Isabella's eyes burned with determination. She folded her laptop closed, her mind racing. Revenge was no longer just an idea. It was a plan, a necessity. She would reclaim her father's legacy, dismantle Lydia and Janet's schemes, and make them pay.

Yet even as she prepared for the battles ahead, a part of her could not ignore the unease. Someone had sent her the initial files. Someone had risked exposure to tell her the truth. She could not be sure... could not be certain whether this ally was trustworthy, or if it was yet another layer of deception, another trap.

Her phone buzzed. A notification from Fredrick.

"I think someone's been following me tonight. Be careful, don't go anywhere alone."

Isabella froze. The air seemed to thicken, her heart pounding. Janet's games had always been cruel, meticulous, and far-reaching. But now... now it was more personal and dangerous.

At Laurent's house but no warmth reached the room where Lydia paced, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. She stopped abruptly in front of her mother, Janet, and let out a sharp breath.

"Mother, I cannot take this anymore," Lydia said, her voice trembling with frustration. "Ever since James found out about Isabella and Fredrick, he has been acting strangely. He avoids me. He barely speaks. What am I supposed to do?"

Janet leaned back in her chair, her fingers steepled, her eyes cold and calculating.

"Patience, Lydia," she said smoothly. "This is expected. James has been attached to you for so long. He depends on you. But now Isabella has entered the picture. His confusion is natural. That fire in his heart that belongs to you has been challenged. But we can manage this. We always manage."

"Manage?" Lydia repeated, her voice rising. "You call this managing? He barely looks at me. He does not touch me. He ignores me completely, even in front of everyone. I thought I was his world. I thought I mattered."

Janet's lips curled into a small, dark smile. "The problem is not him. The problem is the perception of power. Isabella dares to rise, to be strong, to claim influence. That frightens him, and it frustrates you. That fire you feel... jealousy... it can be useful if you wield it correctly."

Lydia's hands clenched into fists. "Useful? Mother, it burns inside me. I cannot stand seeing him avoid me. I cannot stand seeing her in his thoughts, in his life."

Janet's smile sharpened. "Good. That anger can guide you. You must use it, focus it. Every move must be calculated. Do not act recklessly. Remember, Lydia, Isabella's happiness is temporary. We will show her who truly controls the world around her."

Lydia nodded, a dangerous glint in her eyes. "Yes, Mother. I will make her regret taking what belongs to me."

Meanwhile, across the city, Isabella strode confidently through the lobby of Fredrick's company. The sleek glass panels reflected the golden morning sun, but Isabella barely noticed them. She had spent months building her position, asserting her influence, and proving her intelligence. She was now a managing director, and every decision she made carried weight.

Fredrick appeared at her side, his expression a mixture of admiration and concern.

"You look like you belong here," he said, voice soft but amused.

"I do," Isabella said, straightening her shoulders. "And I intend to make a difference."

Fredrick's brow furrowed. "I know you will. But promise me one thing, Isabella. Do not let anyone manipulate you. Not again. Not like before."

"I will not," she said firmly. "I have learned my lessons."

Fredrick spoke"you have changed me by your excellent attitude.you are so authoritative, kind productive. This have made me learn that woman can be so valuable and should be treated with great respect"

Isabella replied "why did you say that".

Fredrick answered"because after I broke up with my girlfriend,I began to hate woman.I thaught all women are wicked and are of no value until I meet you".

Isabella saw a silent trace of pains from the past on his face as he was talking about his past. She used one of her hand to gently rub his head and said"I love you and I will always do".

Fredrick's gaze lingered on her. "You too.You are now smarter, stronger,Sharper and More productive And I..." He hesitated, as if weighing his words. "I trust you completely."He used his hands to touch her cheek.

Later that day, Fredrick's phone buzzed. He frowned as he read the message from his father.

"You must marry Veronica. If you do not, consequences will follow. Think carefully. This is not negotiable."

Fredrick ran his hand over his face, his thoughts spinning. His father, Philip, had always been stern, but the tone of this message carried threat. There were references to past business deals, to financial cover-ups, and to favors owed to Veronica's family. Failure to comply, the message implied, could result in criminal investigation or worse.

Philip entered his office without knocking. "Fredrick, this is serious. Veronica's family has assisted us in the past. If you do not marry her, the consequences will be severe. You cannot ignore this."

Fredrick clenched his fists. "Father, you expect me to obey without question?"

Philip's expression hardened. "This is not personal, Fredrick. It is about survival, the family's reputation, and protecting what we have. You are to marry Veronica. That is final."

Fredrick shook his head. "And what of my feelings? What of what is right? Isabella has proven herself, her loyalty, her intelligence. How can I betray her for an old promise and a family obligation?"

Philip's eyes narrowed. "You are reckless. You will ruin everything if you follow your heart. You do not understand the magnitude of what is at stake, our family is owing Veronica's family loyalty because they helped us to cover up some crimes that was done in our company and now they want our favour in return or we will end up in the prison if they expose our crimes."

Fredrick's thoughts were still unsettled when a strange woman from the past opened the door.As they turned to know who was that, the office felt tensed for Fredrick.

Chapter 5

Veronica arrived at the office. She moved with deliberate grace, her eyes sharp and calculating. Behind her, a small boy followed holding her hand.

"Fredrick," she said, voice smooth. "We need to talk. I have something very important to tell you."

Fredrick's brow furrowed. "Veronica, what are you doing here?"

She smiled faintly, lifting the boy's chin so that he could be seen clearly. "Do you remember me telling you that life is full of surprises?"

Fredrick's eyes narrowed. "Yes, but this is... what is this about?"

She took a step closer. "Fredrick, meet your son."

The words hit him like a hammer. His body froze. He stared at the boy, whose features were unmistakably similar to his own. Confusion and disbelief flooded through him.

"My... son?" Fredrick asked, his voice barely audible.

Veronica nodded, her expression smug and self-assured. "Yes. You once made love to me. You never knew if it led to anything, did you? Well, it did. He is yours. And now you must face this responsibility."

Fredrick sat down heavily, his mind a storm of emotions. He had never known. He had never imagined this possibility. He had loved many things, but this... this was unexpected, unthinkable. He felt a sharp twist of guilt, disbelief, and fear.

"I... I don't understand," he said finally. "I never knew... I never thought..."

Veronica smiled thinly. "You cannot hide from it, Fredrick. He is yours and now, what will you do?"

Fredrick's mind spun. He could feel his choices constricting him from all sides. His parents demanded he marry Veronica. Veronica claimed a son,and in the midst of it, Isabella, the woman he loved, whose loyalty and courage were unmatched, waited for him to act.

He closed his eyes, feeling the weight of impossible decisions pressing down on him.

At the Laurent residence, Lydia seethed as she overheard the latest developments. James' continued distance and Fredrick's entanglement with Isabella were a constant torment. Janet, ever observant, watched her daughter carefully.

"This is exactly what I feared," Janet said, voice low and precise. "Fredrick's family cannot allow him to be with Isabella. They have their plans, and now Veronica enters as another weapon. Isabella's rise in his company threatens us all. We must act decisively."

Janet spoke further "i don't want isabella to end up marrying Fredrick because Fredrick will make isabella so rich and power. She can use that power to fight back for her father's properties. This will make us end up in prison".her heart beat increased.

"No..no mom I can't imagine that,It will never happen"Lydia spoke.

"That is why we need to separate isabella from Frederick and also make her suffer too because her father made us suffer for more than ten years ". Janet spoke.

Lydia's hands clenched. "But Mother, he is devoted to Isabella. He listens to her, follows her advice. How can we reach him?"

Janet leaned forward, her eyes sharp. "Indirectly. Always indirectly. We manipulate, we threaten, we create leverage. Fredrick's parents, Veronica, Lydia herself - all can be used as pieces in the game. But we must strike strategically. If Isabella senses even a hint of our plans, she will counteract. And she is clever."

Lydia's lips curved in a dark smile. "Then we strike at the edges. We exploit weaknesses. Fredrick's loyalty, Isabella's ambition... every emotion can be used."

Janet nodded. "Yes. And remember, patience is key. Observe, wait, and strike when their guard is down. That is when victory is certain."

As they were talking a message came to Janet's phone from isabella.janet saw the name on the message. She panicked thinking that isabella wants to tell her that she has know who killed her father.immediately her hand began to shake.

"Mom what is it?"Lydia asked.

"Please read the message,I can't read it"

Lydia thought what her mom was thinking. She was afraid of reading the message. She forced herself to look at the message

Chapter 6

The message reads"I know you are planning against me but your plans will fail".

As Lydia read the message their heart both relaxed because the message they expected was not what they saw. They were afraid of isabella knowing the truth about her father's death.

Meanwhile, Isabella returned to the office late in the afternoon. Her mind was racing, calculating strategies, anticipating moves. She knew Veronica's presence would complicate matters, but she also knew the strength of her own position and the intelligence she had cultivated.

Fredrick approached her, his face pale, his eyes troubled.

"Isabella, Veronica has arrived. She claims a child... a son of mine," he said.

Isabella felt a flash of shock but quickly masked it with composure.

"A son?" she asked.

"Yes. She says I once made love to her and that this child is mine. I... I never knew it would lead to pregnancy. I don't know how to react. I don't know if she is telling the truth. I don't know what to do," Fredrick admitted.

Isabella placed a steadying hand on his arm. "Fredrick, we will handle this together. We will uncover the truth. We will not allow her manipulations to control our lives. Trust me."

Fredrick exhaled, relief and fear mixing in equal measure. "I do trust you, Isabella. Always."

Her mind raced. She had to consider Veronica, the boy, the potential lies, the leverage Janet and Lydia could exploit, and Fredrick's vulnerable position. But she also knew one thing: she could face these challenges. She had survived betrayal, she had learned strategy, and now, she was not alone.

Back at fredrick's company, isabella had transformed. The months of relentless work, the sleepless nights negotiating deals, and the calculated risks had forged her into someone unrecognizable from the timid, cautious woman she once was. Her ideas had doubled the company's quarterly profits, her bold negotiations had secured high-profile contracts, and her reputation as an authoritative, decisive leader spread like wildfire.

Fredrick entered the room, a rare softness in his eyes as he took in the scene. He paused, noticing the confident posture, the sharp elegance of her tailored suit, the way her hair framed a face now glowing with strength.

"You've done it," he said, admiration threading his voice.

"I've done what had to be done," Isabella replied, her gaze steady. "The company grows. Our influence grows. And now, Fredrick, we are no longer vulnerable to idle threats or manipulations."

Fredrick smiled faintly, but there was tension in his brow. "And yet... threats still find their way to us."

Isabella moved to the sleek glass table, spreading a set of documents before him. "True. Veronica is still a problem. Her claim may be false, but until we verify it, she remains a threat. I want every transaction, contact, and potential leverage point documented. I want control over every angle."

Fredrick leaned closer, his hand brushing hers accidentally. "Your clarity... it's extraordinary. I've never seen anyone move through obstacles with such precision."

She caught his hand firmly, not letting it go. "Fredrick, I need your faithfulness. Your trust. Nothing else matters if that falters."

He nodded, his jaw tight. "I am yours. Always. You are the woman who showed me love could endure. I will not betray that."

A soft smile curved Isabella's lips. "Then we move forward together. No lies, no games-only strategy."

That evening, after a day of intense meetings and triumphs, Isabella received notice that her annual salary had been adjusted. Her eyes flicked across the numbers: $200,000 a year. It was not just recognition-it was power, a symbol of authority within the company. She allowed herself a rare laugh, one that echoed against the high ceilings of her office.

Meanwhile, Janet and Lydia, in the marble-clad corridors of the Laurent penthouse, were learning of Isabella's growing influence through business reports and social media. Each post, each article detailing her rise, fanned the flames of envy in their hearts.

"She dares to rise," Janet muttered, fingers tapping sharply against the armrest. "She dares to succeed where others are struggling"

Lydia's eyes were dark with jealousy, her fingers curling around a wine glass until it nearly cracked. "And she thrives, Mother. She commands attention, respect... even admiration. I cannot watch her claim what is ours."

Janet leaned forward, a calculated smile touching her lips. "Then we will remind her that no power is absolute. Every empire has cracks, Lydia. We find them, and we strike."

Across the city, Isabella settled into her new routine with an authority she had once only imagined. She drove herself now, her car a sleek black sedan that matched her confidence. Her mansion was a personal sanctuary, a space where she could reflect, plan, and fortify herself against any external interference.

One afternoon, as sunlight streamed through the living room, she turned to Fredrick, her expression both determined and tender.

"Fredrick, I need to understand the past," she said. "Tell me about Veronica. Everything. Why is she back? What is she truly after?"

Fredrick took a slow breath, gathering his thoughts. "It's complicated," he said, his gaze dropping to the floor. "Veronica... she left me when I had nothing. I was poor, struggling, unable to provide anything. And she... she walked away. But now, she returns, claiming... well, she claims a son, yet it feels... like a game. She wants influence, control, leverage over me, over us. But I... I love you, Isabella. That has never changed."

Isabella reached for his hand, her fingers lacing through his. "Fredrick," she said, voice soft but resolute, "you are the man who made me believe love could endure. All I ask is your faithfulness, your honesty. And I will stand by you. No matter what."

Fredrick looked into her eyes, the turmoil of past betrayals and future uncertainties reflected there. "I promise," he whispered. "I am yours. Completely."

Their hands remained entwined as the room seemed to shrink around the certainty of their bond, a fragile bubble of strength in a world rife with manipulation and deceit.

Meanwhile, James, ever restless, began to send messages. Text after text arrived on Isabella's phone, each one an apology, an attempt at reconciliation.

"Isabella, I'm sorry. Please forgive me."

"I made a mistake. I was wrong. Can we talk?"

Isabella read them, her lips pressing into a firm line. She deleted the messages one by one, feeling no tug of regret. My focus is not on him.

Back at the Laurent residence, Lydia's jealousy morphed into frustration. She slammed a fist against the table.

"She ignores him! She ignores James! How can she have the audacity to thrive, to remain untouchable?"

Janet's eyes glinted. "Then we escalate. Subtlety alone will not suffice. Isabella's confidence and Fredrick's devotion are strong shields. We must create fractures, test loyalties, exploit weaknesses. And if needed, we manufacture conflict."

Lydia's voice was low, venomous. "We will show her that no matter how high she rises, she cannot escape what is meant for us."

That evening, Isabella was reviewing contracts when her phone buzzed with an urgent alert. A new business acquisition had been approved under her guidance-a move that would solidify her dominance in the regional market. She smiled faintly, but her instinct pricked. Something about the timing felt off.

Fredrick entered, sensing her unease. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes," she said, though her eyes narrowed. "It's perfect, yet... something doesn't sit right. The approvals were too smooth, too quick. Someone wanted me to see this, to react. I will investigate."

Fredrick nodded. "I trust your judgment. If anyone tries to manipulate this, you will see it before they can act."

Their conversation was interrupted by a knock at the door. A man carrying old photo from the past that could scatter the present and the future of isabella and Fredrick.
