I didn't want to believe it at first, but the more I see, the more I know I wasn't daydreaming or hallucinating. My body system was as if a reckless driver were driving through it. I wasn't there anymore.
Is it that she has a twin sister?
She can't be alive. I saw her jump into the sea with my eyes. I saw her die.
Even if there were a reincarnation, she wouldn't have grown so well in such a short period of time. It was never her, but then my heart was so drawn to her.
I wanted to go confirm if I'm not truly hallucinating. So I walked to her in calculated steps, ignoring those that were almost touching me.
My heart was beating very fast as I watched that beautiful woman standing there. She was also looking at me.
My heart was leaping; I didn't know whether it was for the surprise of me seeing the dead or because of me seeing her. I just knew my body was excited.
I stood before her, looking at her beautiful, shocked face, and I pulled her to myself and hugged her tight.
My heart rolled because I missed this woman so much that I couldn't help myself.
"I can't believe this is you," I found myself saying.
I know I must be crazy right now, but every feeling she was calling out was the exact same as how I felt when I was with her years ago.
Before I could control myself, I kissed her right on the lips.
The woman stiffened in my arms, and I could hear her heartbeat synchronizing with mine.
I was supposed to have grabbed an air and knew that I was truly hallucinating, but to my shock, I was holding a person who has a heartbeat, and worse, we are even kissing.
That soft lip set me on a volcanic fire. I was damn shocked to move. I was expecting her to push me away because she is real, but she wrapped her arms around me and opened her mouth for me to penetrate. I unconsciously deepened the kiss, and I enjoy its sweetness.
Did she really not die?
This thought made me break the kiss and drag her away from the party.
I was oblivious to everything around me. All I want to know is who this lady really is. She was bringing out the feelings that I always had with my woman. A feeling that no one can bring out.
I was so restless, anxious, and agitated—any feeling you can attribute to someone who just saw a dead one come alive.
Surprisingly, she obediently followed me. She didn't even struggle, even when I was dragging her into the woods.
When I got to a place, I was sure no one would disturb us. I stopped and hugged her tightly again.
As I did this, she didn't say a single word, nor did she give an attitude that told me she was uncomfortable.
"Angel," I said, with emotions flowing out of me.
This was when she reacted. She stiffened in my arms.
ANNA
His kiss had drugged me so senseless that I'm not sure if I still have the ability to speak or if I'm in the world anymore.
This unknown guy broke the kiss and then dragged me away from the party, and silly me, I didn't object as if I were a dummy.
When he finally stopped, we were in the woods. He then hugged me tightly.
His body was so warm that it gave me some sense of protection. His smell wasn't helping matters either. It was so sweet to my nose that I felt like eating him up.
The way inviting this strange man is to me gave me hope that not all men hate me. At least I can still attract this very gorgeous one. I was sure none of my three fiances were as gorgeous as this one, who hugged me like his life depended on it.
"Don't be silly, Anna. He is only protecting you from that bully of a half sister that you have."
My wolf scolded me when she saw that my thoughts were already going to the extreme. What she said wasn't a lie. Neither of us knew each other, and we are already acting like lovers. Isn't that a mirage in the desert? He was just being protective because he thought I was weak.
"I don't mind. At least a male wants to protect me," I said to my wolf.
I was still enjoying myself when he said something that shattered my hope.
"Angel."
This was when I realized that I'd just built a castle in the air.
No male wants me!
This male just mistook me for another female, and it was painful for me.
I wouldn't mind if he had told me that all he did earlier was act. In fact, I was already preparing to make him mine, but mistaking me for another female is another thing entirely.
I moved, and I made him release me. I looked at his handsome face sadly, and he looked back at me. I couldn't diversify the emotion in his eyes, whether it was happiness or sadness.
He then gently touched my cheek as if he needed to be sure I'm there.
"Angel..." He called me.
"Sorry to disappoint you, Mister; I'm not Angel." I said it firmly.
I then started to leave, but stopped when I remembered that he had helped me. Even though his help was meant for another, I still didn't want to be ungrateful.
"Anyways, thanks for what you did, even though she did it to the wrong person."
With that, I left him standing there, stunned. I pity him, but unfortunately, there's nothing I can do.
Unlucky me will always be unlucky. I got lost in the woods. I didn't even know how we got here because I stupidly followed him like a blind man.
I hit myself with my stupidity. I didn't stop, nor did I return. I didn't want to see that tempting man again. I just know that I will definitely get to a place where I can see people and ask for directions.
And truly, soon I saw someone coming my way, but it was the least person I ever expected to meet. She's one of the reasons I'm like this right now.
She also saw me and stopped. We looked at each other.
She's none other than my personal maid, who betrayed me. The one who married my second fiance.
I couldn't help but remember how we met!
"Let her go!" I shouted.
I was just walking around the pack's border when I saw some patrols maltreating a female. This got me irritated because I hate when people are maltreated, no matter who they are.
No one needs to tell me that the female is a rogue. I can smell it on her, but to me, not all rogues are harmful. My thoughts, though. Not even this one, which is looking pale and gaunt.
Being an Alpha, those males can't disobey me, but I could see dissatisfaction on their faces.
"Alpha, she's a rogue, and she trespassed into our territory," one of the patrolmen said to me.
"I know," I said blankly.
They were surprised at how I'm taking a matter of a rogue with levity. I'm supposed to make them kill her or even drag her to the dungeon to question her, but I did none of that because my instincts told me that she was harmless.
I moved closer to her.
"What's your name?" I asked her.
She looked up at me timidly, tears in her eyes.
"Please don't kill me. I'm not a rogue; I'm just a lone wolf," she said, crying.
"What's the difference? one if the patrol snapped.
I glared at him, and he bowed.
"Don't worry, I won't harm you," I said softly.
That was how I saved her that day. I got to know that she bears Eva. Many people bullied her, but I was always there to scold them for her.
Well, Eva too is a good person, and we both, like sisters, go through thick and thin together until she decides to betray me.
I had thought that my second fiancé was really into me because he visits me a lot. I didn't know that I was only making fun of myself. He wasn't coming for me, but for Eva. This Eva knew but wouldn't tell me.
The most painful part is that she still kept encouraging me that he would surely be mine.
I wouldn't have found out if I hadn't gone to Eva's room unannounced, and I saw the two kissing as if they would win a trophy from it.
My second fiancé then said I'm not his taste. Can you imagine that humiliation?
Ever since then, I've been angry with Eva for lying to me.
I was trying to forget all these things, but seeing her now brought back all the sad memories.
"Alpha," Eva called slowly, as if she wasn't sure it was me.
Eva is my past, so I didn't want to see her, and I started to leave, but she stopped me by holding my hand.
"Please, Alpha, hear me out for the sake of old days," she said with a sad voice.
I looked at the hand that she held and wanted to throw it away, but I also wanted to hear her explanation.
"I really didn't mean to betray you. What happened was a mistake," she said with a pleading voice.
I could see guilt in her eyes, but I was too angry to care.
"Is it the betrayal of snatching my fiance or the one of making me believe that he loved me when you truly know that you own him? Which exactly are you talking about?" I asked her harshly.
Eva bowed her head, but hearing her sniffing, I knew she was crying. The more she cried, the more angry I got.
"I took you like a sister, Eva. I didn't know that you would do that to me," I spitted out.
Eva went on her knees.
"I couldn't bring myself to tell you that your second fiance is all over me. I know how sad you were when your first left you."
"I don't need your pity, but your honesty!" I shouted at her.
Eva shook her head as if to tell me that she wasn't pitying me.
"I didn't tell you because I thought he was only playing around with me and would come to like you if you two spent more time together. I didn't know he would be so bold enough to come to my room and kiss me," she rushed out.
I chuckled at her words. Well, Eva had never lied to me, but I was so reluctant to believe her words.
"Do you think me a fool? I wasn't blind to see that you kissed him back too. It's possible that you were the one who went to seduce him."
My look and voice were stern, and I was also trying to believe what I just said.
Eva shook her head severally.
"I know I made the mistake of falling in love with him, but believe me, I didn't mean to betray you. You are my savior," she said with a pained look.
As I wanted to talk, I saw a very cute boy approaching us. Not until the boy appeared, I didn't know that I wasn't in the woods anymore.
I noticed that when the boy saw me, he halted his footsteps and stood there looking at me. He didn't say anything but he squinted his face as slightly. It was like he has something on his mind.
What could this little one be thinking just after seeing me?
I'm sure it's not as if the little pup was also attracted to me again. Then I will know that my so-called beauty is truly a curse.
He is a chubby, cute pup who has dark hair and eyes that shine like a pebble washed in a deep ocean. He was quite tall for his age, judging by his cute baby look. Even though he was looking deep in thought, happiness was still hovering around him. He is such an attractive-looking boy. No one wouldn't want such.
Looking at his blazer and pants, he is not a commoner. His parents must be rich.
But then something looked very familiar about him, and I couldn't tell whether I had seen him before now.
"Mommy?" He called like he wanted to be sure of himself.
That voice gave me a tight pull in my heart. My body became still, and I watched the boy forget about Eva, who was on her knees.
He moved closer to me and called "mommy" again. This time, he was more confident.
Right now, I don't know what is going on.
Did this cute little boy mistake me for his mommy?
I was so dumbfounded when this cute boy called me mommy, and I felt it move my heart. I've never been married; talk more about me giving birth to a child. Is life playing a joke on me?
First, it was a very handsome guy who took me for another woman, and now it's this boy who mistook me for his mommy.
I looked at the boy and felt like pulling him to me and hugging him. There is this feeling I have that I can't even explain.
I gave the boy, who was looking at me, a sweet smile.
"Looking for your mommy?" I asked him gently.
"You are my mommy," he replied directly.
I smiled confusedly.
"Do I look like your mummy?"
He nodded happily.
"You are exactly the paintings my daddy has all over the house, and he told me that she is my mommy," he replied.
The boy looked so sure of what he was saying.
Then I began to wonder who exactly this woman who looked like me was. I've always heard that people do look alike, but experiencing it now looks quite absurd.
"My dear, everyone looks alike. I might just be your mommy's lookalike," I said to the boy.
I don't know if he will understand what I'm saying, but I still have to tell him.
The boy looked at me for a while and shook his head.
"My daddy told me that when I see my mommy, I will recognize her, and seeing you, I know you are my mommy," he said.
His looks showed me that he wasn't ready to back down at all, and every time he mentioned the word mommy, my heart couldn't help but move. I wish I could just tell him that I'm his mom.
Or did I give birth to a past life that came to look for me in this present life?
It was silly of me to think like that, but I couldn't help the feeling building inside me. I feel like a mother.
"My daddy and I miss you so much. There is no day my daddy won't talk about you. Sometimes he would even cry secretly," the little pup blabbered on.
I was tongue-tied because I didn't know what to say.
"I have a lot of gifts to give you. Every one of my birthdays, I always prepare a gift to give Mommy. We even eat Mommy's favorite dishes. I miss you so much, mommy."
I ran out of patience, and I didn't even know how to convince this little pup that I'm not his mommy. Everything I was saying seemed to be falling into the pup's deaf ears.
I looked at Eva, who was still on her knees. She was the reason this little pup met me here.
Seeing that I looked at her, she continued to plead.
"Please forgive me. I didn't mean it," she said.
The pup looked at her and then frowned.
"Mommy, what did she do?" He asked with a childish voice.
I was tired of hearing that word, mommy. It's very tempting and saddening. I would have had a son who would call me mommy if any of my fiancees had not rejected me.
"Eva, I've forgiven you. It's all past," I said to her.
All I wanted was to escape from this little boy, who suddenly wouldn't let me be because he thinks I'm his lost mommy.
"Are you for real?" Eva asked me with a suspicious look.
I know that with the way I was behaving, my acceptance was too soon.
"What has been done has been done, Eva. I don't care anymore," I said quickly.
"Thank you so much, Alpha. Thank you so much," Eva said happily. "Now I could forgive myself," she added.
"And you shouldn't roam about alone. It's dangerous," I said to the pup.
As I was about to leave, the pup shouted at my back.
"Daddy!" The little pup shouted happily.
I looked back and saw who he called Daddy; it was then the handsome guy that I ran away from earlier.
Looking at those two, I could see the striking resemblance. No wonder I had thought I had met the pup before. He is just a little copy of his father.
"Daddy, I found mommy!" The boy said it happily.
The handsome guy looked at me, and I looked back at him. I wanted to leave, but it was as if my foot was glued to the ground.
"I'm Richard, and I'm an Alpha in the Blue Moon Pack," he said to me.
He only introduced himself. It was then that I realized that he is my third fiance and wouldn't even see me before he rejected me.
He was looking at me with so much affection that I was almost drowning in it, but then I came back to my senses when I remembered the reason he rejected me. He was said to have a beloved concubine.
I know he doesn't know who I am exactly, but this look of love in his eyes was so confusing. It was as if it wasn't just now that it started to grow. Even if I'm not sure of anything else, I was sure that this was the first time we were meeting.
"He must be a playboy," I said to myself.
Or what explanation can be given to his attitude? He just met me today; he has kissed me and hugged me, and he is now looking at me as if we are lovers.
I was definitely not going to let myself fall into his trap. I'm too experienced to fall for him.
RICHARD
I stood where I was looking at that familiar woman leave.
Angel is dead, but who is this woman?
I know with this I'm going to back off, but then the pull in my heart wouldn't let me. I have caused Angel pain, and seeing her again couldn't make me leave her.
I have this feeling that that woman has a link to my angel, and I'm going to find out.
With this thought, I followed her, but I noticed that she had gone in the wrong direction.
I would definitely not be able to forgive myself if I let anything happen to her for the second time, even if she's not the real Angel. I was the one who brought her into the woods.
I didn't even know that she didn't know her way around the woods; if not, I would have followed her immediately.
Luck was on me because I found her. By the time I found her, I saw two people with her, one of whom was my son.
The way he was talking to her was as if they'd been together for a long and she was also calm with him.
Fate was smiling on me. If she's friendly with my son, she wouldn't be able to avoid me.
"Daddy, I found mommy!"
His voice was filled with happiness. Well, I won't blame the pup because he always wanted his mother. So he should definitely be happy when he sees someone like her.
But when she looked at me, her calm and sweet smile was gone, and she wore a look that said, I don't know you.
Well, then, I decided to tell her who I am.
"I'm Richard, and I'm an Alpha in the Blue Moon Pack," he said to me.
She raised her brow when she heard my name, and I didn't know what that meant. Then suddenly, it took on a stern look. I wondered what she was thinking.
Maybe my name strikes a chord with her?
She looks so much and talks like my angel; I wasn't ready to let her be.
Maybe this is my chance to make up for what I allowed to happen to Angel, and I won't joke with it.
