Calvin is the next to chime in. "We all play football except for this loser right here." He says slapping Aaron on the shoulder.
Aaron punches his shoulder and laughs "Fuck you dude. You guys are just mad that I am the basketball star and you guys are stuck playing grab ass with each other on the football field."
I can't help but laugh watching their exchange. "So, you play basketball?" I ask giggling.
Aaron smiles at me. "Yeah, it's much better than football."
Logan rolls his eyes but even he can't help but laugh. "That's awesome." I say laughing as all the guys
continue punching each other and slapping each other's shoulders.
Aaron winks at me. "You will have to come watch me play sometime."
"Ummm, I'm not really big on sports. I have never really been a huge fan." I say with an apologetic smile.
Calvin gasps and slaps a hand over his chest. "I am so offended. Now you have to come watch me play. Let me change your mind."
All the guys nod in agreement. "Fine, I will think about it."
Logan smiles and casually places his hand on my thigh. "I hope you will come see us play."
Butterflies flutter in my stomach and I can't help but smile back at him. If he keeps looking at me like that, I think I would do anything for him. The rest of the ride to school is filled with laughs and smiles.
As the bus pulls up in front of what looks like a cafeteria and comes to a stop I can't help but feel a rush of nerves. I hate being the new girl. Especially since I am a senior now and it's the middle of the damn school year. My mom just couldn't wait to marry Curtis. I begged her to wait until the end of my senior year so I wouldn't have to transfer, but as always, she put herself first over me.
Kids start filing off the bus one by one and I reluctantly stand up. Logan turns to me. "Are you ready?"
I give him a nervous smile. "No. Honestly I hate being the new girl."
Logan gives me a reassuring smile and grabs my hand. "I will show you around."
I look down at our hands for a second, before looking back at his face. I have never had anyone be this nice
to me on my first day. "Thanks." I say taking a deep breath and smiling at him.
"Let's go." He says intertwining our fingers and giving me a gently tug towards the front of the bus.
"I need to go to the office." I tell him as we step off the bus.
He nods his head. "I will take you." The guys are all waiting for us in front of the cafeteria. I can't help but
blush when I see Calvin and Harrison looking at our intertwined hands.
"Hey guys, I will catch up to you later. I am going to show Lilly where the office is." Logan says to the guys.
They all nod and give me a smile. "See you later Lilly." They say almost in unison.
"Bye guys." I smile and wave as Logan pulls me up the hill away from the cafeteria.
Logan never let's go of my hand as we walk towards a large building at the top of the hill, even as we get stares and even some glares from girls walking past. Logan just continues smiling like he doesn't have a care in the world.
"This is the main classroom building." Logan says leaning in a little too close to my ear. "The office is down here."
The building itself is like one large, long hallway with lockers lining both sides of the wall. There are some small classrooms that break up the long lines of lockers and kids are walking in all different directions.
The office is small with a reception desk to the right and a couple of smaller offices towards the back of the room. There is an older lady sitting behind the reception desk. She smiles when she sees Logan.
"Logan. What can I do for you sweetheart?"
"Hey Mrs. Smith. This is Lilly. She is new here."
Mrs. Smith turns her friendly smile to me. "Lilly, yes I was expecting you dear. Your mother has already filled out all of your paperwork. I just need to get you an ID and a schedule."
"Thank you." I say with a smile.
"Logan dear, would you mind showing miss Lilly around today?" Mrs. Smith says without looking up from her computer.
Logan gives her a devastatingly beautiful smile. "I wouldn't mind at all."
"Thank you dear."
Logan winks at me and I can't help but blush. "Thank you, Logan." I say smiling.
It only takes Mrs. Smith a few minutes to get my ID and schedule. We thank her and step back out into the hallway. She told me to pick any empty locker. "Do you know if there is any empty lockers anywhere?" I ask Logan feeling overwhelmed.
Logan smiles and starts walking down the hall. "Right this way my lady."
Rolling my eyes I laugh and follow after him. Towards the end of the hall Logan swings a locker open for me.
"Here you go."
"That was easy. How did you know where one was so easily?" I ask as I set a few binders in my new locker.
Logan gives me a mischievous smile. "My locker is right beside yours."
"You gave me a locker right beside yours?" I say narrowing my eyes at him in disbelief.
"I sure did." Logan says smiling. "Now lets look over your schedule."
I shake my head smiling. I don't think I have ever smiled this much in one morning. I am so lucky I met Logan this morning.
"English, Algebra 3, Chemistry, Spanish 3, Lunch, Digital Communications, Study Hall, and World History." Logan says reading off my schedule. "Looks like I have all but three classes with you."
"All but three?" I ask smiling. "So, you can take me to most of my classes today?"
"Of course I will. I am pretty sure at least one of the guys you met this morning is in each of the other three classes with you. So, you won't be alone." Logan says as he once again grabs my hand and pulls me through a set of double doors that lead outside.
"That makes me feel better. I hate being the new girl that doesn't know anyone in my classes. Everyone always stares at you with those oh look at that poor girl looks, and it is so irritating."
Logan laughs. "I honestly wouldn't know. I have been at this school my whole life and we really don't get that many new people each year."
"Must be nice." I say with a small smile. I have been to five new schools since seventh grade. What mom wants mom gets. No matter what I think mom does what she wants when she wants. At my last school I had amazing grades, several friends and I had even joined a couple school clubs. I should have known it was too good to be true when mom said she would let me finish out my schooling at my last school, she knew how bad I wanted to graduate from there. Then Curtis came along and all of that changed.
"Unfortunately, all of your classes are pretty spread out over campus so it will be a lot of walking." Logan says with a laugh, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I give him a genuine smile. "That's okay, I enjoy walking." Which is true I do love to walk, I even go jogging sometimes. I haven't in a while but maybe I can start up again.
At the bottom of the hill we go through another set of double doors which lead inside to a smaller version of the building at the top of the hill. "English is down here." Logan says as we make our way into a small classroom.
Everyone goes quiet and stares at us. The teacher sets her book down. "Logan Stout you are late." A middle-aged woman with red hair says. "Sorry Ms. Nichols. I was helping Lilly get her schedule and stuff."
Ms. Nichols narrows her eyes at me, and I suddenly feel very aware of Logan's hand still holding mine. "Sit in any of the empty seats Lilly and welcome to my class. I will not tolerate any more tardiness."
I nod and Ms. Nichols picks her book up and starts where she left off. Logan gently pulls me towards the back. Logan nods his head at a brown-haired boy sitting at the back who quickly picks his stuff up and moves to another desk.
Logan sits in a desk at the back and pulls the now empty desk closer to his before I have a chance to sit down. He winks at me, and I blush as I take a seat next to him. Ms. Nichols watches us for a minute but doesn't say anything about the desks.
I don't have a book for this class yet so I try to pay close attention to what the teacher is saying, taking notes the best, I can for being thrown into the middle of a book I've never read before. I feel Logan's hand slide onto my thigh, and I can't help but tense up. Logan smirks but doesn't move his hand.
The next three classes before lunch go pretty much the same as the first. Lots of stares and glares. Logan had me sit next to him in all three classes, either holding my hand or putting his hand on my thigh. Which I have to admit was pretty distracting, especially when his hand slid a little higher each class.
Brandon, Calvin, Harrison and Aaron were in a couple of the classes, but we didn't get much of a chance to talk. Logan kept me pretty distracted.
It is finally lunch and I am starving. Logan wraps his arm around my shoulder as the bell dismisses the last class before lunch. "You ready to get some food?" Logan asks in his deep sexy voice.
"Yes, please I am starving."
Logan laughs. "Luckily we have some pretty decent food in our cafeteria."
"Thank God. My last school's food sucked."
Logan laughs as we make our way back down the hill towards the cafeteria building. I was amazed when we stepped through the cafeteria doors. It looked more like a food court than a school cafeteria. There are five different food stations to choose from.
"Wow. This is fancy." I say looking around.
Logan laughs. "Yeah, it's like the nicest thing about our school."
Overwhelmed by choices I decided to get some pizza. It seemed like the safe choice. "Come on." Logan says as he heads towards the back door of the cafeteria.
"Where are we going?" I ask slightly confused.
Logan doesn't answer, instead he winks and heads outside to a large grassy area with trees and picnic tables. Wow even outside is nice here. Logan heads towards a picnic table in the middle of everything and I see all the guys from this morning.
"Hey Lilly." Calvin says with a wink.
"Hey guys." I say waving.
"How's your first day going?" Harrison asks.
I look to Logan for a second and he smiles at me. "It's been good, so far. Best first day I have ever had at a new school."
Logan sits down on the top of the picnic table and I go to sit next to Brandon, but he grabs my waist and pulls me down in between his legs on the bench, making me squeal. Brandon laughs and shakes his head.
The guys all smirk and share a look with each other. I wonder what that's all about. Logan and the guys start talking about practice and stuff this afternoon and I get a little lost listening to them banter back and forth.
A cold breeze blows through and I shiver. I really wish I would have worn something warmer. "Hey, are you cold?" Logan leans down to whisper in my ear.
"I'm okay." I say turning to give him a smile.
"Here." Logan says pulling his hoody off and handing it to me.
Blushing I take the hoody and slip it over my head. I honestly wasn't sure it would fit but it's actually a little loose. "Thanks." I say with a smile. Logan leans forward and puts his chin on my head and his arms around me.
"It looks good on you." Logan says against my ear and I get a chill that has nothing to do with the cold.
The guys watch our exchange with smirks, and I suddenly feel self-conscious. I have never had this much attention from guys at any school.
As the end of lunch approaches Logan shifts topics. "Hey Harrison, you are in Digital Communications next right?"
Harrison nods. "Yeah man, why what's up?"
"Lilly is in that class too. Would you mind taking her?" Logan asks giving me a gentle squeeze.
Harrison smiles at me. "Well of course. You ready to go Lilly? Lunch is almost over."
"Umm, yeah." I say and I try to stand up. Logan reluctantly let's go of me. "See you guys later." I smile and wave to everyone.
Harrison throws his arm around my shoulder, and I can't help but glance back at Logan who is giving Harrison death glares.
"So, you and Logan?" Harrison asks casually.
"What do you mean?" I say blushing.
"You guys a thing?" Harrison says with a smirk.
A thing? How can we be a thing? We just met this morning. "We just met this morning; I don't think we are a thing." I say and I feel heat creeping up my neck.
Harrison smirks. "If you say so. I have never seen Logan act so possessive over anyone ever."
Possessive? Over me? Butterflies flutter in my stomach and I can't help but smile. I feel Harrison tighten his arm around my shoulders and I look up at him. "I think I should warn you. Your lovely stepbrother is also in this class."
Ryder? Really? Damn, I was hoping I could avoid him all day. I was lucky up until now. Harrison laughs. "It's not that bad. You can sit by me, and we can act like he doesn't exist."
I smile up at him. "Okay."
The classroom is dark and full of computers. "I sit in the back." Harrison says as he guides me to the back row.
Harrison sits in front of the computer in the back right corner of the room. I take the seat next to him. Harrison helps me sign in and get on the right website. "The teacher is always a little late."
The door opens and I think it's going to be the teacher but instead it's Ryder and a skinny brunette that has her arm wrapped around his waist like she might fall down if she lets go of him.
Ryder and the girl I'm assuming is his girlfriend walk towards the back row and sit in the aisle opposite of me. I watch as Ryder takes the seat on the aisle and his girlfriend takes the seat next to him. I wish he was worse looking, but unfortunately, he is gorgeous. He has shaggy black hair, dark brown eyes and a muscular tan built. Too bad he is a dick. He catches me looking at him and I immediately look away, turning my attention back to Harrison.
Harrison pulls my chair closer to him, and I smile when he puts his hand on my thigh. "So do you have a boyfriend?"
"Do you think I would let you and Logan touch me like this if I had a boyfriend?" I say in a flirtatious tone.
"I mean some girls don't mind, even if they have a boyfriend."
I roll my eyes but can't help but laugh. "Well I don't have a boyfriend." I have never had a boyfriend. I don't tell him that part though.
"Good." Harrison leans in closer and I feel his breath on my ear. "I guess you don't mind if I do this then."
I give him a confused look, but before I can ask what he means I feel his hand slide much higher on my thigh sending a chill through my body. I suck in a sharp breath. Before he can get any higher, I put my hand on his and give him a look. He just winks at me in return.
"Is the teacher ever going to come in?" I ask Harrison.
Harrison shrugs. "Honestly probably not. He hardly ever actually shows up."
"Oh. Well what do we do then?"
"Pretty much this." He says waving a hand around the room. Everyone is playing on their phones and talking.
I can't help but laugh. "Well okay then."
I glance over at Ryder and his girlfriend. His girlfriend is jabbering on about who knows what, but he isn't paying any attention. Instead, he is staring at me, with the most intense stare I have ever seen. I don't know whether to stare back or look away. Harrison moves his hand higher up on my thigh and I jump.
Ryder's attention drops down to my thigh, and he narrows his eyes at me. "Why is he staring at you?" Harrison whispers in my ear and I finally look away from Ryder.
"I think he's staring at your hand on my thigh." I whisper back to Harrison, and he smiles at me.
"Let him stare." Harrison whispers back to me.
I glance back at Ryder one last time who is still staring and turn my attention to Harrison who wraps his arms around my waist to pull me closer. "You know we could give him something else to stare at us about." Harrison says with a mischievous smile.
"Oh yeah, what's that?" I ask genuinely curious.
"We could make out." Harrison says with a completely straight face, and I can't stop the giggling that erupts from me.
"You are hilarious." I say right as the bell rings signaling the end of class.
"You got lucky." Harrison says giving me quick kiss on the cheek.
"I have study hall in the library next. Are you by any chance in there with me?" I ask hoping I don't have to go alone.
Harrison frowns at me. "I'm not, but I think Calvin is."
"Oh okay. I'm glad I won't be alone."
"Don't miss me to much babe." Harrison says with a wink and another quick kiss on the cheek.
"It will be hard, but I will try to survive without you." I say giving Harrison a kiss on the cheek. "See you later." I say waving as I turn and head towards the library building.
This is the first time all day I had to walk to a class by myself, and I am not going to lie I do not like it.
"Lilly, Lilly wait up." I hear someone calling my name when I'm about halfway up the hill to the library.
"Lilly." I hear it again and I finally see Calvin running towards me.
"Oh hey." I say waving at him.
"Damn girl you walk like you're being chased by a damn serial killer." Calvin says when he reaches me.
"I do not." I say laughing.
Calvin huffs. "Yes, you do. I have never seen anyone walk so fast to class in my life."
I can't help but laugh again. "Well, I'm sorry."
Calvin links his arm with mine. "Now that I can breathe again, let me escort you to the library."
"Well thank you." I say putting my hand on my chest. "I feel special."
Calvin laughs and we make our way up the rest of the hill making small talk along the way. The library has more people than I thought there would be. "I didn't realize so many people would be in study hall." I say to Calvin when we find an empty table.
"Yeah, they just kind of throw all the extra people in here. The kids that don't have anything better to do."
Calvin says taking the seat next to me.
"Oh, I see. So what do you do in here?"
"Umm, normally play on my phone. When I have homework, I do that, but that's pretty rare." Calvin says with a shrug of his shoulders.
Looking around the room, I see a lot of the kids from my other classes. Most of them ignore me, but some of the girls continue glaring at me the same way they have been doing all day. The bitchy part of me wants to ask what the fuck their problem is. The other part of me doesn't want to start some shit on my first day. I was lucky I found a group of guys to be friends with, the last thing I need is a year-long war with the girls of the school.
The library door swings open again, and I swear he is following me. "I didn't know Ryder was in this class." I say to Calvin who is playing on his phone.
Calvin looks up right as Ryder makes eye contact with me. "Oh yeah, your ass hole stepbrother is in this class."
"Thanks for the warning." I say bumping shoulders with Calvin.
"Anytime baby. Anytime." He says with a laugh, and I can't help but laugh too.
Ryder sits at a table diagonal from me and Calvin, and I can feel his intense glare on me. Why does he keep staring at me like that? It is really starting to creep me out. "Yo, why is he staring at you like that?" Calvin asks and I realize he is staring at Ryder.
I look at Calvin. "I don't know. He was staring at me and Harrison in my last class too. I thought it was just because Harrison was flirting with me, but apparently not."
Calvin nods his head slowly in understanding. "Come on." Calvin says bumping my arm with his.
"Where are we going?" I ask confused.
Calvin stands up and I follow him towards a row of books. He sits in the row with his back to the wall.
"Come sit with me." Calvin says spreading his legs and patting the floor in front of him.
"You want me to sit there?" I ask nodding towards the space between his legs on the floor.
A slow smile spreads across his lips and he nods. I stare at him for a minute before taking a seat in the space between his legs. "Lean back baby." Calvin says as he wraps his arms around my waist and gently pulls me backwards until I am leaning against his chest.
"You want to watch some videos of some past games? I can explain some of the rules of the game so you will know when to cheer for me."
"Who says I am going to have to know when to cheer for you?" I ask turning slightly to look at him.
Calvin narrows his eyes at me and gives me a flirty smile. "You are already wearing Logan's football hoody, so I know you are going to become our new number one fan."
I feel my cheeks heat, I had honestly forgotten I was wearing Logan's hoody. Calvin chuckles in my ear and I don't know what to say. Calvin takes my silence as agreement and decides to show me some of the game highlights from earlier in the season and last year. I didn't think I would like it but not going to lie football does look pretty interesting.
The class period flies by and I don't tell Calvin, but I am pretty excited to watch the guys play at their next game. When the bell rings signaling the end of class Calvin and I part ways. "Have fun at practice." I say as we wave bye to each other.
Before I can make my way out of the building I'm stopped by Ryder when he walks by whispering in my ear.
"Wow, you're really enjoying being passed around huh?"
His question catches me so off guard I am unable to come up with a response before he disappears down the hill towards the football field. What a dick. I am not being passed around by anyone. They are my friends. I continue grumbling to myself the whole way to the main classroom building where my World History class is.
"Hey sexy." Aaron says as we bump into each other in the hall.
"Hey." I say with a little less enthusiasm than I probably would have if it weren't for Ryder being a fucking dick.
"What's wrong?" Aaron asks looking at me with genuine concern.
"Ryder is just a dick."
Aaron nods his head. "What did he do now?"
I roll my eyes. "Nothing it's just something he said after he saw me and Calvin together in the last class."
"Oh, so he's jealous." Aaron says matter of fact.
A laugh erupts from me before I can stop it. "Jealous of what?"
Aaron shrugs. "You are sexy as hell and his girlfriend looks like a crack whore."
I laugh so hard I snort which makes several other kids in the hall look at me. Aaron just laughs. "See even your laugh is sexy."
I smack him on the arm as I try to reign in the laughter. "You are crazy. There was nothing sexy about me snorting."
Aaron smiles. "At least I got you laughing, now come on let's go to class."
Aaron holds the classroom door open for me and gently pushes me towards the back of the room. What is up with these guys and sitting in the back of the room? Are they allergic to the front row or what?
"Sit with me." Aaron says as he pulls up a chair by his table.
"Okay." I say and the teacher comes in the room.
Aaron leans in really close and whispers. "Mr. Wilkins is kind of a dick so if you need to say anything just write it down."
"Thanks for the tip." I whisper back and he winks at me.
The class passes by the slowest of all my classes and Aaron wasn't kidding. Mr. Wilkins really is a dick. Within the forty-five minute class period Mr. Wilkins sent two different kids to the office and gave one kid detention.
Wow. I thought Aaron was over exaggerating, but he was not. I have never been so happy to hear a class dismissal bell.
