It was very dark inside the deep forest.
I couldn’t help but think about what happened to me.
The Black Wings Pack was no longer my home. I had been pushed too far. Stripped of my title, my respect, and my place by Nicholas and Selena’s cruel hands. Every piece of my heart screamed to leave, but I had nowhere to go. Where could I possibly turn?
But I knew one thing for sure.
I wasn’t going to let Nicholas and Selena break me. I wouldn’t allow his cruelty to define me, not after everything I had been through. This time, I wasn’t the same weak, dependent wolf I had once been.
No. I was strong. I had survived too much to fall apart now. So, I had to keep going.
I decided to let the figure leading me somewhere. Somehow, there was a strange, almost magnetic pull that tugged at me. There was something in my gut urging me to trust this mysterious stranger.
I could sense he wasn’t here to harm me. It was a strange feeling, a pull I couldn’t explain. But I knew it wasn’t bad.
I didn’t look back at the pack I had once called family. I didn’t need to. My destiny wasn’t with them anymore.
As I walked, I focused on the path ahead, one step after another, pushing through the doubt. It wasn’t easy. But it was the only choice I had.
My heart raced as I followed the shadowed figure through the trees. I had always trusted my instincts, and they had never failed me before. Even if this was a leap of faith, I was ready to take it.
Every step took me further away from the life I knew. Every step was an embrace of the unknown. It felt like stepping off a cliff into darkness, but somehow, I wasn’t scared. I was free.
The trees began to thin out. Before long, I stepped into a large clearing. The air then shifted. Clearly, there was something different here. It was something powerful. My eyes widened when I realized where I was when I saw the sigil on the gate.
I had heard the rumors. Whispers in the night of a new, rising pack that was even stronger than our pack that was regarded as the strongest pack in the werewolves’ world. The name was Indigo Sky Pack.
They were known as a pack that had swiftly taken over territory after territories. Theirs was a pack that was as feared as it was respected. And now, here I was, standing in the heart of it.
I took a deep breath. The scent of fresh pine and the energy of the wolves around me made my blood pulse with excitement and anxiety. This wasn’t like the Black Wings Pack.
The air was thick with power, yet there was an undeniable calm. There was a sense of order here. One I hadn’t realized I had been missing until now.
The figure beside me finally spoke, breaking my trance, "Welcome to the Indigo Sky Pack."
I turned toward him, about to speak, when he removed his hood and mask. My breath caught in my throat. His face was partially covered, but his eyes were intense. They had strength in them that shook me to my core.
"You’re Alpha James Grey?” I asked the masked man.
His gaze softened, but the authority in them never wavered, as he answered, "Yes. I am James Grey. The Alpha of this pack."
I felt the weight of his words settle over me. I had heard of him, of course. Everyone had. The masked Alpha, mysterious and powerful. It had been said that he would never reveal his true face.
But the Alpha had stood before me. I finally understood the reason. Actually, it wasn’t about secrets or mystery. Rather, it was about power. About control. About knowing who he was, not just showing it.
For a long moment, I couldn’t find words. How had I ended up here? How could I reach this place of power with this Alpha that was more than just an Alpha?
‘Fate,’ my wolf simply said.
But I didn’t have time to ask questions. His pack surrounded us now, watching me with curiosity. Some looked at me with respect, while others with curiosity. But it was clear that they were waiting for a sign of approval from their leader.
"You’re safe here," James said, his voice steady, yet inviting.
The Alpha said, "My pack will protect you. You’ll have a place among us, milady. We can offer you more than you’ve ever had before."
I looked around as the weight of his words sunk in. My chest tightened, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was where I was supposed to be. As strange as it was, I felt a strange sense of peace settle over me.
Here, in this place, I could be more than the woman who had been betrayed. I could rebuild. I could find myself again.
Still, my wariness lingered.
"Why are you helping me?" I asked, my voice quiet but firm.
He regarded me silently for a moment, as though weighing my question, before answering, "I know what it’s like to lose everything.”
"You’ve been wronged, my lady. I see it in you. And I’m offering you a chance at a new life. A place where you can be strong," the man continue.
I didn’t respond immediately, turning inward for a moment. Allegra was still quiet, but I felt her presence beside me. No matter what, my wolf would always support me.
'You know what to do,' Allegra whispered, her voice stronger now.
Eventually, I told the Alpha, "I … I don’t know why you’re offering this, but I’ll take it. I won’t go back to the Black Wings Pack. I can’t."
James gave me a nod of approval, though his face remained stoic.
He then said, "Then it’s settled. You’ll stay here. And you’ll have everything you need to rebuild."
For the first time in days, I felt like I could breathe.
But something inside me shifted. Allegra’s voice rang through my mind again. It was different this time. She was uncertain, hesitant.
'Gwen … something’s not right.'
My heart skipped a beat at what she said, asking her, ‘What is it?’
My wolf howled anxiously, 'I don’t know … I can feel it. The pull between us … it’s not just because he’s offering us a safe place. There’s something deeper.'
I stared at James, my breath catching in my chest. Was it possible? Was there a reason I felt such a strange, inexplicable connection to him? It felt more than the gratitude for saving me. Allegra’s warning echoed in my mind.
Before I could ask her anything more, a voice cut through my thoughts.
‘Mate,’ Allegra said.
However, it wasn’t in a whisper this time. It was a sudden, strong statement. That truly shocked me.
I froze. The word hung in the air. Frankly, it was too shocking to comprehend.
‘Alpha James Grey is my mate?’ I thought to myself.
I couldn’t understand it. How could this be? What was happening?
Before I could even process the weight of Allegra’s words, the man turned to me.
"There’s more I need to tell you, Gwen," he said quietly, his gaze never leaving mine.
The man then continued, "But it can wait. For now, you’re safe. You’ll have time to adjust."
But I could feel the air shift again. Something in his words, in the way he spoke to me. It was like he was holding something back.
As I stood there, my mind swirling with confusion. One thing became clear to me. This place, this pack, and James.
That man was not just my savior. There was more to him than I could possibly understand. And I needed to know the truth.
