Chapter 2

I blocked Hugh's number and handled the discharge procedures myself.

At my urging, the hospital gave me the pool of blood and flesh that flowed out of my lower part.

He was wrapped in a small box, his heartbeat stopped forever.

I could no longer feel his warmth, nor could I whisper to him every night.

I looked at him for a long time and decided to bury him in my flower bed.

My favorite rose bushes were there. I always fantasized about him growing up and planting flowers with me.

But he'd never grow up.

Wiping away my tears, I was about to leave the hospital when I saw two familiar figures around the corner.

"Hugh, I'm scared..."

Trina sat in a wheelchair, reluctantly holding Hugh's hand.

Hugh smiled gently. When he was about to speak, he looked up and saw me.

He unconsciously frowned as if my showing up here was a great mistake.

Trina also saw me, and her face became somewhat distorted.

"Why are you here?"

He asked so naturally. Last night, when I had a stomachache and asked him to go to the hospital with me, he left me alone. Seemed he had forgotten all about it.

I didn't want to waste time with him, so I turned my gaze away and was about to leave, but Trina stopped me.

"Ava, you have hated me for so long, and now you finally get your wish."

Trina said that her condition was very bad, and she might die soon.

I didn't say anything, but Hugh became impatient.

"What are you doing here?"

He frowned and sized me up. Apart from my pale complexion, I seemed no different from usual times.

In the past, I was self-reliant. I was afraid of becoming a burden to him, so every time I got sick, I would never tell him, and I solved every problem on my own.

He naturally assumed that I was following him.

He thought that I was unhappy about him being with Trina, so I often did something to bug him.

For example, before he went out last night, I begged him while pulling his clothes. I said that I was in pain and asked him to save me.

But he thought this was my way of keeping him.

I glanced at Hugh, not wanting to waste time with him, and for the first time, I didn't respond to his words.

"Hugh... Ava seems a little upset."

"Don't mind her. She's just too bored and doesn't wanna be ignored."

When I heard this, I stopped in my tracks.

Maybe it was the power given to me by the small box in my hand. I turned around boldly and stared at them.

"If you think I should be happy if I see my husband accompanying his mistress to see a doctor, then you are really a perfect match. One of you is a scum, and the other is a cheap slut."

Trina's expression changed, and Hugh scolded me.

"Ava, watch your mouth. Don't forget what you did to marry me."

Hugh protected Trina behind him as he always did, acting as if I had bullied her.

Made sense.

Without me, they would have been together. They didn't have to have an affair in front of me now.

I used to argue and explain with him, but now, I didn't have any desire to talk to him at all. He could think whatever he wanted to think. I was tired.

"I remember clearly."

I sneered and looked at him, saying, "You know what? I was so stupid back then. So...

"Let's get a divorce."

After speaking, I turned and left. Hugh looked at my back, his expression somewhat stunned.

I felt a burning gaze that seemed to put me on fire.

Perhaps because of extreme disgust or anger, Hugh left Trina behind for the first time and chased after me.

"What do you mean? Explain."

"Divorce. How's that hard to understand?"

He was surprised that I'd talk back.

He failed to react for a moment. He was stunned for a few seconds before gritting his teeth and pulling me, asking, "What are you up to now?"

"Nothing."

I shook off his hand and didn't want to waste any more time with him.

Hugh wanted to chase after me again, but not far away, Trina exclaimed.

"Hugh..."

Hugh stopped and turned around to look.

Trina, in the wheelchair, clutched her chest in pain and looked towards this side.

Hugh didn't hesitate at all and immediately rushed over to pick up Trina.

I knew it. She was the only person who could make him act so decisively to save her.

I watched their gradually disappearing figures and tried to collect myself.

If he could have treated me the same way last night, my baby wouldn't have died.

But he didn't.

Hugh, there are too many things separating us.

I don't want to, and I can't love you anymore.

Chapter 3

Back home, I packed up my things.

There were many of my tools in the garden, and I chose a spot and dug a small hole.

It happened to be away from where I fertilized every year, so the dirt over the baby's head wouldn't be dug up every year.

Thinking about it, I felt a little sad again. If I fertilized him every year, would he grow?

After doing all this, I lay down on the bed and fell asleep.

I dreamed again of the first time I met Hugh.

My father was a bodyguard for the Joseph family, and my mother worked for the Joseph family for a long time until she passed away.

Jim was very considerate of the help, so even though I came from a poor family, I could play freely in the Joseph family's villa.

My parents were afraid that I would be exposed to the bustling society from an early age and would not be satisfied with an ordinary life, so I didn't come to the Joseph family until I was fifteen and started high school.

I followed my mother nervously into the villa.

Everything here seemed like a scene that could only appear in a fairy tale at that time.

Other than that ... Hugh walking towards me at the other end of the garden in his school uniform was another fairy tale, another dream.

He had the most unforgettable face I had ever seen.

He looked cold and clever, yet he was also with the unique innocence of youth.

He saw me following behind my mother and frowned, making me feel like I had barged in his turf.

"Mr. Joseph, this is Ava Medina, my daughter."

My mother introduced me to him respectfully, but he just nodded and walked out.

Although he was so indifferent when we first met, his figure never left my heart ever since.

I thought we would never have any intersection again, but unexpectedly, my father sacrificed himself because of an accident.

Hugh and I got bound together because Jim owed my father.

At that time, I knew that he was already with Trina. When Jim gave his order, I told him no. I said I didn't want Hugh to hate me.

But Jim said a lot to me, all serious.

Hugh didn't know any of the things Jim told me.

"Ava, you are a good girl. I know you won't let Hugh down."

With tears in my eyes, I nodded and agreed.

Since then, Hugh had hated me until now.

He hated that I didn't firmly refuse this absurd marriage and that I separated him from his love.

I had nothing to say about that.

It gradually became his reason to insult me and not love me.

Chapter 4

I didn't know how long I had slept, but when I woke up, the sun had already set.

Vaguely, I heard familiar voices coming from downstairs.

"Hugh, I'm allergic to pollen... Can you get them all removed?"

When I heard the crucial part, I opened my eyes at once. I lifted the blanket and stumbled downstairs.

"Hugh, let's destroy here and build a swimming pool. Flowers will die soon. They're practically useless."

"OK. Whatever you say."

"What are you doing?"

When I arrived, a group of workers had already uprooted the flowers in the corner of the wall. The blooming flowers fell to the ground, dim and lifeless.

"Hey, a small box?"

The worker took out a box and looked at Trina and Hugh with confusion.

"Don't move!"

I rushed over to try to snatch the box, but Trina beat me to it and quickly grabbed the box.

"Why are you so flustered? You hid it here? It's not some nasty secret, is it?"

"Shut up!"

I gathered my strength and slapped Trina hard.

Trina's head tilted under my great strength. When she came back to her senses, she glared at me fiercely.

"Give it back to me!"

I roared, but she wasn't afraid at all.

"It's just a box, Ava. Apologize to her!"

I stood still, trembling all over, tears streaming down my face, feeling like my heart had been torn apart.

Seeing me like this, Hugh was also furious. He grabbed the box from Trina's hand and glared at me fiercely.

"Do you really have to make a scene just for a box?"

"Hugh, leave him alone!" I rushed up but was held down by his security guards and couldn't move.

Please, Hugh, I beg you.

Don't touch him. Don't make me hate you even more...

I looked at him with tears in my eyes, but seeing that, he was more curious to know what was inside the box.

"Don't touch him, Hugh..."

I looked at him desperately, using all my strength.

Perhaps my expression was too terrifying. Anyway, Hugh seemed hesitant.

He looked at me and then at the box, not knowing what to do with it.

At this moment, Trina patted him and said, "Forget it, Hugh, maybe it is really important to her."

Having been married to him for so long, I hardly had any secrets from him, let alone anything that I particularly cared about.

I was always so calm or fawning. That was why he said I was as boring as a dead person.

Hearing her words, Hugh stopped hesitating.

He stared at me without blinking, like a dangerous beast.

The next second, he placed his hand on the lid of the box.

"Please..."

I begged, but he turned a deaf ear.

The lid was about to be opened.

I struggled to break free from the bodyguard's grip and tried to snatch the box.

Hugh's expression changed. As he couldn't dodge in time, the box fell heavily to the ground.

The thing inside rolled around on the ground and landed in the mud.

Hugh almost held his breath in an instant.

I knelt on the ground in pain, carefully trying to gather it up.

"My baby..."

Hugh looked at me in disbelief. The next second, his phone in his pocket rang.

"Hugh, I got it! About the thing you asked me to look into? She went to the hospital last night to have an abortion!"
