Hunter's POV
I watch Daisy as she angrily marches away and I can't stop my eyes from watching her as she sashays. I'm being a pervert, I know. After I lose sight of her, I put on my wet shirt and make my way to the tent to change my clothes.
At the entrance, I hear someone talking in a panicked voice and a whimper in the tent.
What the hell!
Did Daisy bring a guy in our tent?
I can't stop the rage and disappointment I feel at that thought. That guy isn't going to walk out of there in one piece if I have anything to say about it.
I enter the tent abruptly to find Daisy spreading a huge blanket over my bed. When she finally notices my entrance, she suddenly sits on the space that she spread the blanket on.
"Hey, Hunter" She greets me cheerily, too cheerily. Something's up.
I walk closer to my bed expecting her to get up but she grabs the edge of the bed firmly with both hands.
"What are you doing on my bed?" I ask her.
"Oh me.........nothing, absolutely nothing, why would I ever want to do anything to you? Can't I just chill on your bed as roommates" she answers in a high pitched tone looking at everything but me.
I lean into her personal space to get in her face. "Oh really?" I ask again.
"N-nno....I mean yes" she stutters.
I continue to lean closer while she leans back till she was lying on the bed. I place both of my hands at the side of her head to trap her in.
Her eyes dart to the left and right frantically searching for an escape. She bites her lip in anxiousness and my eyes become fixed particularly to her pink plump lips.
I move my face closer to hers leaving only about 2 inches of space between us.
"H-hunter?" she breathes.
"Don't do that" I groan in a strained voice.
"Do what?" She breathes lowly that I barely heard her.
"Don't bite your lips" I answer my eyes still fixed on her lips.
She quickly releases her lips but runs her tongue over it instead.
An ache so deep to feel her lips moving against mine, to have her in my arms lodge in my throat and I feel as if I won't be able to breathe if I didn't.
I start to finally close the space between us and her hands wrap around my neck. My sole attention was on the thing that had been bothering me since we began this camp trip: her lips.
I lift my eyes to hers and something leaps in my chest.
Rrwoof. Huh?
Rrwoof, Rrwoof----woof.
What the fuck is making that sound?
I lift my head only to see a puppy standing by the side of the bed barking happily.
Oh, it's just a puppy.
I turn back to face Daisy hoping to continue what I was about to do when realization sinks in.
A puppy?
A freaking puppy?!
A freaking puppy in our tent?!!
"What is a puppy doing in our tent?" I ask her calmly, the opposite of what I was feeling was.
"A puppy? I don't see any puppy" She says trying to act ignorant.
At that moment, the puppy walks up to her and licks her feet. I scoff. Try to act dumb now.
"You have to understand, I can't just leave it in the bush. What if it accidentally wanders into the jungle and gets adopted by tigers to be trained to start killing people or oh my god, what if it gets swallowed by a python. It's too young to die" she exclaims.
I raise an eyebrow at her rant.
She sighs "Look Hunter, I'll make sure it doesn't disturb you till this camp is over, just please keep this a secret" She pleads.
"And if it does?" I ask her.
"What?" she says giving me a confused look.
"I said what if it does disturb me?" I ask her frustrated.
"It won't. And if it does, you won't report this to the authorities right?" she says looking at me hopefully.
"That depends" I say.
"On what?" she asks wearily.
"You'd have to do anything I tell you" I smirk.
"It won't bother you anyway so I have nothing to worry about" She confidently says.
I nod and walk to where my clothes were hung and take off my shirt and pants ignoring the fact that Daisy was in the tent. I hear a gasp behind me followed by footsteps hurrying towards the door. I smirk but that smirk soon fades when I remember the moment when I was about to kiss Daisy. I don't know if I should be glad or mad that the puppy interrupted us.
What would it have felt like?
What would it have meant?
Why would I ever be thinking those questions?
It's all probably because I haven't been with a girl in a while and she was the only girl within reach.
I suddenly feel something rubbing against my leg and I look down to see the puppy giving me an expectant look.
"What? You cock-blocker" Well, there's my answer; I guess I'm mad at it. Speaking of the dog, I don't know if it's a boy or girl. I lift the tiny dog up and peer under it.
It's a male.
I put it down but he refuses to go away.
"Seriously, what do you want?" I ask again and he continues to stare at me.
I sigh reaching into my backpack and search for any little harmless object I can find for it to play with. When I can't find anything, I go to Daisy's side of the tent and pick out a green head band and give it to him. He barks in excitement and walks off to lie down on Daisy's bed chewing on the head band furiously.
Oh well, she can't get mad, she owns the dog after all.
I go outside the tent to find Daisy waiting outside the door.
"Why did you run out? You didn't seem to have a problem with my shirtlessness by the river bank" I confidently state.
"Whatever" she says brushing past me to go inside the tent and her scent waft into my nose making me inhale more air.
She smells so fucking good.
I resist the urge to drag her back by her wrist and pull her into my arms to finally get to feel all that is Daisy against me.
Damn it, what is she doing to me?
Daisy's POV
I enter the tent and exhale deeply.
Hunter and I have been at each other's throat for almost 3 years now, so why the sudden attraction? If he had kissed me, what would I have done? In that moment, I probably might have kissed him back.
I start a mantra in my head to put everything back in place.
You have a crush on Dean and no one else, Hunter is just a stupid jerk
You have a crush on Dean and no one else, Hunter is just a stupid jerk
You have a crush on Dean and no one else, Hunter is just a handsome and considerate...................
Ughh
I hear growling coming from my side of the tent and I turn to see the dog munching on something green. I ignore it and proceed to change my clothes.
I prepare to move out of the tent when I realize I had forgotten my bracelet. It was my mother's gift for my fourteenth birthday just before she was murdered.
I blink back tears and try my best to forget the horrible incident that led to my mother being killed and my phobia of darkness.
"Hurry up, we have to start this project or we'll never finish before the deadline" Hunter calls to me from outside the tent.
"I wouldn't have needed to change my clothes if some moron hadn't dragged me into the river!" I scream at him harder than I intended trying to pass all the hurt I was feeling at the moment to him.
"What's with the mood? You sure it's not that time of the month?" he says coming inside the tent and eyeing me wearily.
I ignore him as I scan the tent area with my eyes trying to remember where I placed the bracelet and I see it beside my pillow. I sigh in relief and move to take it when something catches my attention.
Wasn't that my headband the dog was chewing on?
I move closer to try and dislodge the nesting thought in my brain. When I finally confirm that it was mine, I snatch it away from the dog and lift the tattered ruin in disbelieve.
"Oh that" Hunter says pointing to the headband "I gave it to it when it wouldn't leave me alone". He adds.
"You gave it my head band?" I ask giving him an incredulous look.
"It's just a head band, get over it. Besides you were the one who brought a dog in here not me. The dog is a 'he' by the way"
"It was special to me!" I all but shouted in his face trying to make a big deal out of it.
"What? A gift from your boyfriend?" he asks as if it's impossible for me to have a boyfriend.
"Yes and now it's all ruined" I shriek.
Of course I didn't have a boyfriend, but he didn't know that. And I really liked that head band.
He scoffs "You said differently yester night" he says trying to call my bluff.
"Well I lied, okay" I reply composing my face into one of someone speaking the truth.
His face darkens.
"Just get out and let's get this project over with" he states turning to walk out the tent.
What crawled up his ass and died?
I throw the remains of the head band back to the dog; it wouldn't be useful for me anymore anyway.
I gather my note and pen and follow Hunter back to the river to start the project.

**EVENING**
We worked all day on the project and I was quite surprised to find out just how smart Hunter really is.
After eating dinner and bidding good night to my friends, I go back to the tent to prepare for bed.
10 minutes later, I was happily settled on my bed ready to sleep when Hunter comes in.
I remember that the dog had pooped on his bed earlier so I quickly pretend as if I was asleep. I didn't want to be the focus of his anger, not tonight anyway; I was too tired for that.
I observe him out of the corner of my eye and watch as he takes off his shirt and draws back the blanket I'd spread on his bed earlier to cover up the stains on it.
"What the hell?" He exclaims.
I start to breathe in and out evenly to make my pretense look more real.
"Daisy!" he calls out to me but I don't stir.
He mutters something under his breath and I feel him climbing into my bed.
What is he doing?
Why is he climbing in my bed?
Go back to your poop-infested bed!!!
I can't say that out loud though because I'm supposed to be asleep.
He shifts closer and I forget how to breathe. 15 minutes later but who's counting, his breathing evens out driving home the fact that he was asleep.
I blame the puppy who I'd finally decided to name King for putting me in this situation.
I sigh quietly and shift to the end of the bed to put some distance between us because my hormones were going crazy by just being near him.
I suddenly feel his arm wrap around my waist and pull me against him. He runs his hands over my bare arm and I almost sigh at just how good his touch feels on my skin.
"Hunter?" I call out to know if he was awake.
No response.
"Hunter?" I call out again
He doesn't respond so I conclude he's asleep.
This isn't fair! Why should he be able to sleep peacefully while I was nearly intoxicated with his presence?
He pulls me closer and rests his head in the crook of my neck making me freeze. I should probably leave the bed but I couldn't even bring myself to move.
This is all so wrong. Hunter's arms around me shouldn't feel so good. I shouldn't be feeling like I was home in his arms. This shouldn't all seem so perfect.
All this thoughts have brought me to one conclusion, I think something's wrong with me.
If something is wrong with me, I should probably enjoy the wrongness while it lasts so I relax in Hunter's arms and lay my right arm over his hand that was wrapped around my waist.
Tomorrow, everything can go back to normal.
