Chapter 1

My wife had someone crash into me, leaving me in a coma, just to help her male assistant start a business.

When I woke up, I found out she had transferred our company’s clients to him.

Many of our employees had been poached, our core technology leaked and the company was on the brink of collapse.

“Amari, you’re finally awake!”

“The company’s about to go bankrupt. Let’s get a divorce.”

When my secretary brought me to our new product launch event, I saw her holding the arm of a strange man, smiling sweetly as she asked for a divorce.

Right in front of me, the man grabbed her butt and sneered, “Your wife is mine now and so are your company’s assets. What’s the point of a loser like you still being alive?”

Burning with rage, I shouted, “You two are disgusting! You’ll both rot in hell!”

Later, my wife ended up on the streets, begging, full of regret, with nothing left.

——

One month after the car accident, thanks to my secretary’s careful care, I finally woke up and recovered.

In a low voice, I asked where Madison was.

Leila Clinton hesitated. When I lost my temper, she had no choice but to speak quietly, informing me that the company was about to go bankrupt.

I couldn’t believe it. The company had been doing well. Our products were solid and we made hundreds of millions each year. How could we be bankrupt?

After her explanation, I finally understood that my wife, Madison Sutherland, had planned the accident to help her assistant, Orion Alcott, start his own business.

She not only let him copy our products but also introduced him to our clients and helped him steal key employees.

Upon hearing this, I was furious. Leila quickly tried to calm me down and told me not to get too worked up. Then she said she would take me to find Madison.

“Mr. Wood.”

“Mr. Wood is finally here!”

That afternoon, I arrived at the company’s product launch event.

In the once-thriving company that used to have hundreds of employees, only a few remained.

Madison, who used to be the vice president, was also at the event.

Her assistant, Orion, sat in the main seat, holding her in his arms. The two of them kissed openly, without shame.

Seeing that scene felt like a knife to the heart. Our eight-year relationship was being torn apart right in front of me.

When Madison saw me, she froze. “Why are you here? You’re awake?”

Realizing how inappropriate it looked to be sitting on Orion’s lap, she quickly stood up, her face turning red. I snapped in rage. “Slut!”

In the past month, Madison had only visited me twice before leaving me to rot in the hospital.

She even stopped paying my medical bills.

Leila had used all her savings and maxed out her credit cards just to keep me alive. Without her care, I would’ve never woken up.

“Amari, since you already know, I won’t hide it anymore.”

Madison sat back down on Orion’s lap. He bounced his leg under her like she weighed nothing and sneered, “President Wood, I heard you’re about to go bankrupt?”

Their shameless behavior made many people turn away in disgust.

“Don’t you think you’ve gone too far?”

“Mr. Wood just woke up and you’re already trying to drive him to the edge?”

Leila clutched my chest anxiously and shouted. The doctor had warned us not to let me get too emotional.

Seeing that their scheme had been exposed, Madison’s face turned cold. “Someone beat this stinking bitch up for me!”

Before I could react, three security guards rushed forward and slapped Leila several times.

She burst into tears. I quickly shielded her and roared, “You traitorous bastards!”

The guards looked at me with mockery. “Mr. Wood, your company’s going under and you still want to act like a hero?”

Chapter 2

“This chick’s still in college, fresh and soft. Why don’t you have a little fun with us tonight?”

“Sticking with that Amari guy won’t get you anywhere. You’d be better off serving the three of us. We’ll make sure you enjoy it!”

They stared at Leila’s curvy figure, eyes practically glued to her body.

These three were once jobless drifters. One day, I ran into them while driving my luxury car. When they found out I was a CEO, they begged me for work.

I felt sorry for them and offered each a salary of over ten thousand a month. But just like Madison, they turned out to be ungrateful traitors.

I shook with rage. “All of you can rot in hell!”

Secretary Leila had once been a struggling student I sponsored. After she graduated and couldn’t find work, she nervously came to me for help.

I let her start as an intern and after seeing how hardworking and dedicated she was, I promoted her to be my secretary.

I never imagined that such a small decision would end up saving my life.

“Madison, tell me. Why did you destroy my company just to help him?”

“What’s there to explain?” Madison smiled while Orion’s hands shamelessly roamed her body.

Madison let out a few soft moans.

“Just tell him, Madison.”

“If you make him really mad, I’ll let you ride me tonight.”

“Really? That’s great! How about going to Rose Hotel? Their bathrooms are huge!”

Madison giggled flirtatiously.

That’s when I noticed kiss marks all over her exposed neck.

My heart completely broke.

Madison and I had been college classmates. Including the time we dated and were married, we’d been together for eight years.

She had always acted shy, too embarrassed to even look me in the eye during intimacy.

I never imagined she would act so wild with Orion.

“The reason is simple. I grew up with Orion.”

“I married you back then because you were capable and could give me the life I wanted.”

“I couldn’t even afford tuition sometimes, so I just looked for a rich fool. Thanks for taking care of me all those years.”

Madison sneered with disgust.

“It’s a shame that the car crash didn’t kill you. But it doesn’t matter. Your money’s already in our hands.”

I remembered. Just before I blacked out in the crash, I vaguely heard the truck driver talking on the phone with Madison.

“Tell Madison I hit her husband. He’s out cold and might not make it. Tell her to send the money now! I’ll leave the country right after.”

“Madison, I gave you my heart. If you wanted the moon, I’d have found a way to give it to you. And this is how you treat me? Where is your conscience?”

I knew they were trying to make me snap, but I still couldn’t stop myself from shouting the question in pain.

“Conscience? I’m just following my heart and chasing love.”

“Back then, I was broke and couldn’t give Orion the life he wanted.”

“But thanks to you, you rich fool, we can now live happily together.”

“You were just a provider, not even good enough to carry Orion’s shoes.”

As she spoke, Orion shamelessly pressed on her chest a few times, saying, “Madison, you treat me so well. Here’s your reward!”

“I’ll love only you, forever.”

“You promise? Let’s pinky swear.”

“Okay, pinky swear. One hundred years, no change!”

They linked their pinkies like children.

The scene filled some employees and clients with anger.

“Shameless adulterers!”

“They used Mr. Wood until the company went bankrupt and now they still act so disgusting!”

Chapter 3

“Mr. Wood, please don’t get angry. They’re just trying to make you lose control on purpose!”

Madison and Orion showed no anger at all. Orion even smiled and said, “Winners take all. Who cares about pride?”

“You stole my company! You’re shameless and disgusting!” I shouted in rage.

“So what if I’m shameless? Your wife loves me. All I had to do was crook my finger and she came crawling like a dog to play with me! Then she helped me drain your company dry!”

This Orion used to be broke and nearly had his legs broken by loan sharks. Madison once said he was her cousin from the village and begged me to give him a job.

Out of kindness, I hired him with a high salary of $20,000 a month!

I pulled him out of the mud and this was how he repaid me, betraying me with my own wife and helping her steal everything I built.

Suppressing my burning anger, I stared Madison straight in the eyes and said, “You will regret this.”

She sneered and replied, “Live for today, drink while there’s wine. I don’t care about regret! But you’ll probably be sleeping on the streets in a few days.”

Hearing this, Leila leaned in and quietly said, “Mr. Wood, the company’s cash flow is gone. This product launch is our last chance.”

If customers liked the new product, they would place orders with down payments and that money could save us.

I took a deep breath. “Let’s begin.”

The deputy tech manager started the presentation.

From design to concept and quality, the new product was a full year ahead of the market.

The clients’ eyes lit up. Excited voices quickly filled the room.

“Give me ten million worth. Send it as soon as you can.”

“Mr. Wood, I want five million!”

“I’ll pay eight million cash, just ship fast!”

“Give me three million worth…”

Seeing the customers so eager to place orders, hope filled my heart. Maybe the company could still be saved.

“Did you celebrate too soon?”

Orion looked around, then pulled a product from his briefcase.

“This product was just finished. Its functions and design are pretty much the same as Mr. Wood’s.”

“But the wholesale price is 30% lower.”

The room went silent.

I shouted in anger, “You... you copied my product?!”

Madison sneered, “Mr. Wood, don’t put it like that. But it’s true, our price is lower.”

She turned to the customers and said, “If you work with us, we’ll even give you another 10% off.”

The customers exchanged glances, many swallowing hard.

“Mr. Wood, I run a small business. If the quality’s the same, I have to go with the cheaper option.”

“Sorry, Mr. Wood. I don’t have enough money. If you can’t lower the price, I’ll have to buy from Mr. Alcott.”

In an instant, most of the customers turned their backs on me. Only three or four long-time clients, out of loyalty, placed small orders worth a few hundred thousand each.

Furious, I shouted, “Madison, you’re trying to destroy me completely!”

Madison shrugged. “Chasing profit is the rule in business. If they want to buy from me, what can I do?”

“Besides, your failing company is already close to bankruptcy. Do you even have the money to produce anything?”

In a burst of anger, I rushed forward to hit her.

But three security guards blocked me. The head of security slapped me hard across the face.

I stood there, stunned, glaring at him. “One day, I’ll make sure none of you have a place to die!”

The guards laughed. “Your wife ran off with another man and your company’s collapsing. Do you really think you have a future?”

Everyone around looked at me with mocking eyes.
