Chapter 4

"So… that’s why..."

Diego's eyes were bloodshot and he lowered his voice.

"Impossible. Zara is the best at playing with such petty tricks. She wants to see others alive or dead. No matter what, I want to see her with my own eyes!"

He hung up the phone fiercely and sighed heavily, as if he was trying hard to adjust his emotions.

Hillary walked to him with a worried look on her face and said softly, "Is it still about Zara? Is there anything I can do to help you?"

Diego shook his head.

"If only she could be as sensible as you, if her dad hadn't entrusted her to our family before he died, perhaps I wouldn't ...."

His words stopped and he looked into the distance with a depressed look.

Hillary hid the smile on her lips and tiptoed to give him a kiss on his face.

"Diego, please don't think about unhappy things, okay?"

He pulled out a smile, pretending to be okay and relaxed.

That night, he had trouble sleeping and got up at three in the morning.

After being in a daze for a long time, his eyes finally fell on the painting on the wall.

That hanging painting was bought by him and me at a fortune telling stall.

The stall owner said, I had a hard and prosperous life and I was a lucky star who could bring good luck to my husband.

He also said that my husband and I were destined to be together and that we would live happily together forever.

I was so happy that I bought the most expensive painting on the stall and insisted on hanging it in the most conspicuous place in the master bedroom.

As a result, the next day, he got the difficult project and hugged me and kissed me again and again.

I also cheerfully told him, "You are lucky to have me protecting you!"

I did want to have a home with him, a happy life and a bright future.

Still the familiar master bedroom, but the person lying next to him was Hillary.

He murmured. "Zara, you have such a hard life, but you're still a lucky star, nothing will happen to you."

I curled my lips sarcastically.

This rascal said something to cheer people up, but he deceived me badly.

It was just a sad and ridiculous fate. Now, I couldn't even reincarnate and could only wander around him.

Seeing him sleeping in the same bed with other women, I could only watch calmly.

Diego was still lost in thought, not noticing that Hillary behind him had opened her eyes.

I could see that she could barely hide the jealousy and dissatisfaction in her eyes.

The next morning, she acted as if nothing had happened and gently prepared breakfast for him.

The nanny wanted to take on the job, but she refused.

"Diego has just returned to Celestia and his taste hasn't changed yet. He's not used to other people's cooking, so I have to do it myself."

Seeing that he was eating without any appetite, her eyes instantly turned red.

Beside her, Diego kept scrolling his phone and didn't notice she was in a bad mood.

After taking a few bites of his meal, he got up and left in a hurry.

Ignoring Hillary's questioning behind him, he only replied, "I have an urgent matter to handle in the office."

He drove the car, but headed towards the correctional institution.

Found the person in charge of the institution, his attitude was very serious.

"I demand that you immediately tell me of my wife's whereabouts. If you continue to conceal her whereabouts, I will report it to the police."

The person in charge felt a little uncomfortable, but soon calmed down.

"Mr. Hamilton, you signed the contract yourself back then and asked us to do whatever we could to make her realize her mistake and educate her to turn over a new leaf."

"We did our best, but your wife was just too disobedient and just after a few days of disciplining her, she started to say she did nothing wrong again."

"Then she even sneaked out and ended up falling downstairs by accident, we feel sorry for her too."

Chapter 5

Diego couldn't stop trembling.

"Are you helping her to deceive me, faking her suicide to cover up her escape from me?"

"This kind of clichéd plot can't fool me. I warn you, tell me Zara Palmer's whereabouts immediately!"

The person in charge shook his head helplessly.

"Mr. Hamilton, there is no need for us to lie to you. This matter is also very heavy for us. If you don't believe me, I can take you to ...."

Before the person in charge could finish his words, Hillary who ran in crying, interrupted him.

"Diego... our babbies... something happened to our babbies."

She fell to her knees, crying almost to death.

"Not long after you left, someone left a gift box at the doorstep. Inside was two gold bracelets and a note, 'As long as you are happy, I voluntarily leave.'"

"I thought it was Zara who was secretly given it to me. Since she's so kind, I couldn't let her down. So I gave the gold bracelet to our babbies to try on."

"I didn't expect our babbies to have an accident as soon as I put it on ... I rushed to send them to the hospital for emergency treatment. I don't know why it happened to us ... Diego, please save them."

Diego's face darkened, as if he had gained more confidence.

"I knew she was petty since she was a child. She can't hold back her anger! She wanted to fake her own death to win my sympathy, but she couldn't hold back her evil intentions! This time she couldn't even spare two one-month-old babbies!"

"Zara, you won't be able to hide for long. Once I catch you, I'll definitely let you know what regret is."

He squinted and strode out with his sweetheart.

The head of the institution looked at his back as if he were a fool.

The car was driving very fast. The anxiety on his face was obvious, but also hid a sense of relief.

In the hospital, the two babbies had been sent to the intensive care unit and the examination report showed severe allergies.

Hillary started crying again.

"I've checked and found that the gold bracelet contains toxic pollen. The baby's skin is fragile, so it can't withstand the toxic pollen at all! They even inhaled it into the respiratory tract and almost suffocated."

"I clearly promised you, I would leave our babbies to you and Zara to raise. I won't interfere. I just want to leave an offspring for you. But why is Zara still unwilling to let me go? I've already ...."

She fell to the ground sobbing.

Diego banged the wall hard.

"I was still thinking about her, trying to continue living with her, even if it means making you suffer. But I didn't expect her to be so cruel."

"Since she couldn't seize the opportunity I gave her, don't blame me for being ruthless."

He took out his phone to call his assistant, but he happened to receive a call from him.

He answered the phone with a gloomy tone and the voice on the other end was hesitant.

"Sir, I have news about your wife. Is it convenient for you to listen now."

He sneered coldly.

"It just so happens that I have some news here. It's okay. You tell me first and I'll think about how to deal with her after considering it."

Oliver hesitated for a moment.

"Ms. Palmer ... I've clarified Ms. Palmer's whereabouts ...."

"Where? Tell me quickly!" asked Diego.

Oliver coughed uncomfortably.

"We found her urn in a cemetery on the outskirts of the city. We dug it out and examined it. It's indeed ... your wife."
