Chapter 2

"Diego Hamilton, I, Zara Palmer, won't marry anyone but you in this life."

I was still laughing wildly until he dragged me out of the school with a stern face.

"I want to find you, no one can stop me."

It turned out he still remembered it.

But he guessed wrong this time, it was different here, I didn't escape.

There were four airtight walls, no windows and four iron locks on the door.

I had my legs and hands broken and even moving them was excruciatingly painful.

The bone setting therapists hired by the institution came back and forth to treat my broken bone, calling it pain therapy.

With no anesthesia, my heart-wrenching screams were considered disobedience, so I was sent to the electric shock room.

For two whole months, the bones began to heal, but in an awkward shape.

I had trouble even standing up, how could I escape?

I couldn't escape.

Too bad, he didn't see or think about the situation around.

He dialed his assistant's phone number, Oliver Romanov, with a sullen face.

"Where did Zara escape to? When did she leave the correctional center? Why didn't anyone notify me about it?"

On the other end of the phone, the assistant's voice sounded particularly nervous and guilty.

"Mr. Hamilton, it was you who told us not to mention your wife in front of you, saying it would affect Ms. Arnouts' pregnancy, that's why we ...."

The man's face stiffened.

"Enough. Stop talking nonsense! Go check where Zara is now. I want the answer within half an hour!"

He abruptly hung up the phone and strode away with his sweetheart in hand.

On the car, his face was very solemn.

''I should have thought of it. When I asked her to apologize to you, she reacted so strongly. How could she obediently stay there and reflect on herself! It was my negligence."

Sitting in the back seat of the car as a lost soul, I quietly watched that cunning and evil woman wiping her tears away.

"Zara hates me for a reason. I don't blame her."

"Someone like me shouldn't have dreamed of marrying up to you, shouldn't have monopolized your love. The year I had you was the happiest time of my life, I will remember it forever."

Diego instantly softened.

"I know you're only thinking for my own good. Zara has been spoiled since she was a child, but you are different. You are always used to swallowing your anger."

"She always bullied you when you were a child and you suffered a lot. Let's take it as a settling of accounts this time. I'll make her admit her guilt and apologize."

Admit my guilt? The soul like suddenly began to tremble.

This so-called my husband, didn't know, I had already confessed my guilt.

Perhaps it was during the second or third visit to the treatment room.

The electric current flowed through my entire body and even fainting was a luxury. The instinct of my body made me lose all my self-esteem, but I was beaten again for dirtying the floor.

I admitted everything, knelt on the ground and plead guilty, begging them to let me go.

What harm? What jealousy? Even if they called me an alien, I admitted it.

I laid on the ground with my mind in a daze and my mouth was still muttering.

"I was wrong. I committed a heinous crime and deserve to go to hell. I was truly wrong."

The therapist asked me to speak out in detail about the crimes I had committed.

I collapsed on the ground and pondered for a long time, wondering what crime I had committed.

That day, Hillary came to my door and told me she was pregnant with my husband's child.

I was very angry and yelled at her that she was a shameless mistress.

She laughed so happily that she almost drove me crazy.

To tell you the truth, I didn't push her downstairs. I just wanted to drive her away, but she rushed up and pulled me towards the stairs, intentionally falling herself down.

I was terrified, but she immediately dialed Diego's phone number.

I still remembered the way Diego looked at me at that time.

Chapter 3

He said, "I'll teach you a lesson that you'll never forget and never dare to bully Hillary again."

It was indeed unforgettable until it had become part of my soul and I still got scared as soon as I thought about it.

The days when I was neither alive nor death, even suicide was a luxury.

I had been preparing for death for a long time.

On the last day, I used my hands and feet to unlock the room in the early morning when everyone was still sleeping.

I didn't want to die at first. I thought it would be best if I could escape. It was better to live a miserable life than to die.

After opening the room door, I saw one access control and password lock after another outside the ward.

I made some effort, but as soon as I hit the door, the alarm rang.

So many people woke up and came to chase me. I had no choice. I really had no choice.

My hands were powerless and my legs were crooked, so I could only crawl up the stairs bit by bit like a piece of rotten meat.

I was not afraid of pain anymore. I was only afraid of being caught. Once caught, there were many things more terrifying than pain.

If I had a third sight, I thought I must have looked extremely horrific and terrifying at that time.

I struggled to climb to the top floor and faced a group of therapists who wanted to catch me, I didn't hesitate at all.

I was glad the moment I jumped.

My soul left my body and I saw the long bloodstains on the stairs left by my crawling.

I saw the wall of the room where I was imprisoned, with the word "escape" written in blood.

I saw my inhuman body being shoveled onto the truck.

My husband always asked me to apologize, but I still didn't know what I did wrong.

Now my soul had no way to escape from his side, I could only continue to follow him silently.

In the familiar house, many layouts still bear traces of my presence.

There were two extra baby beds next to the master bedroom.

When the nanny saw Diego, she smiled and said, "Mommy and Daddy are back. Look, who missed them so much!

Diego smiled brightly.

The family of four was happy and harmonious, with Hillary happily leaning next to him.

"Diego, I am so happy. If I could, I would stop time."

However, he was somewhat absent-minded and took out his mobile phone to check several times.

He comforted her perfunctorily.

"You play with the baby first, I'll go handle some company matters."

He picked up his phone and dialed Oliver's number again.

"It's been almost an hour. Where is the information I need? Where is Zara?"

There was silence for a long time on the other end of the phone before someone spoke in fear.

"I've investigated the information of the correctional center. Ten months ago, all of Ms. Palmer's information was deleted."

"I asked the therapist at that time and he said ... he said ...."

Diego was a little impatient.

"What are you dawdling for? Don't you want to do it anymore?"

The assistant seemed to have mustered up his courage before speaking:

"He told me that the person inside committed suicide by jumping off a building ten months ago due to depression."

The phone fell heavily to the ground and Diego's legs went weak and he fell to the ground.

"How is it possible ... how is it possible ...."

"How could Zara, such a heartless person, be depressed? You must have checked the wrong person. Did you use your brain to handle things?"

The assistant trembled nervously.

"It's not wrong ... I've checked the name information and it's indeed your wife."

Diego's voice trembled slightly.

"Why didn't you notify me, Oliver?"

"Mr. Hamilton, you forgot? You told me yourself at that time. You forbade us to mention anything about your wife and you also signed a contract with the correctional center, saying that you would not object and sue if an incident occurred during the treatment and allow the correctional center to take care of it."

Chapter 4

"So… that’s why..."

Diego's eyes were bloodshot and he lowered his voice.

"Impossible. Zara is the best at playing with such petty tricks. She wants to see others alive or dead. No matter what, I want to see her with my own eyes!"

He hung up the phone fiercely and sighed heavily, as if he was trying hard to adjust his emotions.

Hillary walked to him with a worried look on her face and said softly, "Is it still about Zara? Is there anything I can do to help you?"

Diego shook his head.

"If only she could be as sensible as you, if her dad hadn't entrusted her to our family before he died, perhaps I wouldn't ...."

His words stopped and he looked into the distance with a depressed look.

Hillary hid the smile on her lips and tiptoed to give him a kiss on his face.

"Diego, please don't think about unhappy things, okay?"

He pulled out a smile, pretending to be okay and relaxed.

That night, he had trouble sleeping and got up at three in the morning.

After being in a daze for a long time, his eyes finally fell on the painting on the wall.

That hanging painting was bought by him and me at a fortune telling stall.

The stall owner said, I had a hard and prosperous life and I was a lucky star who could bring good luck to my husband.

He also said that my husband and I were destined to be together and that we would live happily together forever.

I was so happy that I bought the most expensive painting on the stall and insisted on hanging it in the most conspicuous place in the master bedroom.

As a result, the next day, he got the difficult project and hugged me and kissed me again and again.

I also cheerfully told him, "You are lucky to have me protecting you!"

I did want to have a home with him, a happy life and a bright future.

Still the familiar master bedroom, but the person lying next to him was Hillary.

He murmured. "Zara, you have such a hard life, but you're still a lucky star, nothing will happen to you."

I curled my lips sarcastically.

This rascal said something to cheer people up, but he deceived me badly.

It was just a sad and ridiculous fate. Now, I couldn't even reincarnate and could only wander around him.

Seeing him sleeping in the same bed with other women, I could only watch calmly.

Diego was still lost in thought, not noticing that Hillary behind him had opened her eyes.

I could see that she could barely hide the jealousy and dissatisfaction in her eyes.

The next morning, she acted as if nothing had happened and gently prepared breakfast for him.

The nanny wanted to take on the job, but she refused.

"Diego has just returned to Celestia and his taste hasn't changed yet. He's not used to other people's cooking, so I have to do it myself."

Seeing that he was eating without any appetite, her eyes instantly turned red.

Beside her, Diego kept scrolling his phone and didn't notice she was in a bad mood.

After taking a few bites of his meal, he got up and left in a hurry.

Ignoring Hillary's questioning behind him, he only replied, "I have an urgent matter to handle in the office."

He drove the car, but headed towards the correctional institution.

Found the person in charge of the institution, his attitude was very serious.

"I demand that you immediately tell me of my wife's whereabouts. If you continue to conceal her whereabouts, I will report it to the police."

The person in charge felt a little uncomfortable, but soon calmed down.

"Mr. Hamilton, you signed the contract yourself back then and asked us to do whatever we could to make her realize her mistake and educate her to turn over a new leaf."

"We did our best, but your wife was just too disobedient and just after a few days of disciplining her, she started to say she did nothing wrong again."

"Then she even sneaked out and ended up falling downstairs by accident, we feel sorry for her too."
