Chapter 1

After being completely abandoned by my ex who had been pestering me for five years, I fell into despair.

A friend who had silently loved me for many years took care of me meticulously, helping me to heal from the emotional wounds.

My friends described the situation as a classic case of a man moving on to a new woman after breaking up.

This man, Samuel Wilson, claimed to have loved me for ten years and was willing to accept everything about me.

I thought he was different from other men.

But the hickey marked on Samuel's lips were not mine.

He accused me of being a plaything.

——

When Samuel was brought back, he was completely drunk.

Just as I was about to wipe his face with a towel when my gaze stopped at the faint red mark on his lips.

I was taken aback for a moment.

That was a hickey.

It was restrained and careful, but I still noticed something.

I wiped his lips, and the light pink color remained on my hand.

It was a kiss in a nude hue, probably from a young girl.

I felt dizzy.

Samuel's phone lit up, and I saw a message from his friend, Jacob.

[Samuel, you've had too much to drink. Forget about what you said today, and stay away from Emily Allen. That girl has bad intentions.]

The name sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it.

I checked Samuel's phone, but found nothing suspicious.

He was already in bed.

And murmured "Darling, I love you."

Then he unconsciously pulled me into an embrace, burying his head in my neck.

Perhaps it was accidental. I thought.

I comforted myself like this.

My previous relationship wasn't good, and it was Samuel who had saved me from the brink of death, making me believe in love again.

He treated me well, taking care of me in every possible way. Everyone around me said that I was really lucky to have someone who loved me so wholeheartedly.

I couldn't think of a reason for him to cheat.

I took the car keys and went to the bar he often frequented.

Chapter 2

The bar owner Richard was familiar with me, so I made up a story about losing my bag and had the surveillance footage checked.

It was blurry, but I could see Samuel sitting on a soft couch, drinking heavily.

There was a girl in the crowd, her eyes fixed on Samuel.

Women's intuition is terrifyingly accurate, and I realized instantly that something was off.

As they got more intoxicated, they started playing a truth or dare game.

Unfortunately, the girl lost the game and chose to tell the truth, and the crowd burst into laughter, teasing, "Emily, do you have a crush on someone?"

So she was Emily Allen.

She looked in Samuel's direction, bit her lip, lowered her head shyly, but didn't answer. She picked up her glass and drank it all in one go.

The answer was obvious.

Samuel frowned, and after some teasing from the crowd, they moved on.

He was not bad-looking, and he often worked out, so he had a solid six-pack abs. It's not surprising that someone liked him.

But how could he conceal his love for five years and manage to win me over, everyone knew that.

I fast-forwarded the video.

The pen on the table turned towards Samuel.

He pondered for a moment and said in a faint voice, "Truth."

Jacob, who brought him back, intervened and put a wine glass as a microphone under his chin, "Samuel, tell us the one thing you regret the most."

The dim light shone on Samuel's face, obscure and unclear.

"Well, the thing I regret the most?"

He seemed to have smiled for a moment.

"My biggest regret is taking over a woman played out by her ex."

Chapter 3

There was silence all around, and Jacob was stunned for a moment, then quickly forced a smile and laughed awkwardly.

This matter has been ignored soon.

I clenched the edge of the table, my fingers turning white.

Samuel was completely drunk and unconscious. Everyone greeted each other and left the bar, one after another.

Emily, the girl sitting next to him, looked around, flicked her hair, and cautiously approached Samuel.

She aimed for his lips and kissed him.

This scene was caught by Jacob.

Emily's face turned ugly, with a panicked look as if caught in the act, and hurriedly left.

I paused the video, saved the footage, and left the bar.

Unexpectedly calm.

I listened to Samuel's words again, his tone mocking and frivolous, with a strong sense of unwillingness.

Completely different from the him in my memory.

After turning off the surveillance, I thanked Richard and walked out of the bar, and suddenly the noise in my ears disappeared.

The cold wind blew on my face, and it hurt badly.

How did it come to this with me and Samuel?

I thought.
