Chapter 5

He raised himself to a sitting position and glared at his mother. A more convenient way to commit suicide rather than being stucked in the snow. He hopes his mom is not assuming and conceiving something filthy in her heart.

"You think I'm talking nonsense right, Andre? You deliberately went out into the snow and threw your jacket away because you know I wouldn't let you step out without it. You deceived me and went out to die in the snow.

Have you no pity for me? Are you so selfish that you only thought of yourself when you took your decision to end your existence because Jasmine jilted you? You wanted to commit suicide right? Fine you are allowed to do it but before then, you'll have to watch me die first" Alice stuttered.

She picked up the knife on the tray and placed it on her neck, "watch me die, Andre then after that, you'll commit suicide just this way. It's simple and fast. It's better than doing it in the snow" Alice seethed.

"Stop it mom, I didn't try to do something silly like that. How can I do that and leave you in so much pain, mom. I love you mom, don't hurt yourself don't, make me add sorrow on my broken heart. Please don't do anything to yourself" Andre pleaded.

Why would he do something silly as committing suicide because Jasmine betrayed him? Only losers do that. He has life ahead of him and a mother to look after. How can committing suicide ever be an option?

"Please Aunt, don't do this. It's late, it's Christmas eve. Don't do anything silly to yourself. Please?" Felix persuaded and walked gently towards Alice. The older woman brought her hand down and started sobbing.

Of course she wouldn't do anything like that. She only wants Andre to know that if he does anything silly, he'd only leave her to suffer. But she heard him say he loves her.

"Promise me Andre, promise me that you will not hurt yourself?" Alice asked, sniffling. She had thought she would lose her son when Felix brought him home, cold and stiffened. She thought his blood was frozen and his jacket was not on him.

She called the doctor and Felix assisted in making fire in his room. They were all scared until they heard him sneeze. What if he passed away without anyone knowing? Thank goodness that he informed Felix through a phone call about his whereabouts.

"I promise, mother," Andre said and enveloped his mother in a hug. Just then, the chapel bell rang. It's time to come over for the Christmas eve celebration.

In a certain presidential Villa, a slender woman was seated by the balcony, covered herself with a thick. She stood looking out at the bustling city on a Christmas eve, it's late but it doesn't seem to be.

The whole city was lit up. Fire crackers going up into the sky, the jingles rending the air and the smiles of love on everyone's face. She'd not really been a fan of the Christmas celebrations or all of that.

She likes her world. Go to the chapel on the 25th for the morning mass, take the sacrament and return home. What's the big deal celebrating a baby born over two thousand millennium ago?

Her thoughts were interrupted by her assistant "ma'am, there's still no trace of that man. No one seems to know him nor recognise who owned the jacket..." he reported.

"Could that mean that he's alive?" She mumbled silently under her breath. She'd been restless when she returned. That young man helped them out without considering his wellbeing. He didn't think about himself when he worked in the snow to help them.

"I don't know what you think we should do ma'am?" Her assistant asked. He'd been in the place with the range rover a few times already, asked neighbors and passersby but no one seemed to know him nor recognise that jacket.

"Go to the various hospitals, search for him there if there's any emergency case of any sort. And leave your contact in case such comes around" She instructed. There's no way that young man will not be needing medical help.

The least that can happen is pneumonia. He would be found in one of the hospitals. She wants to reciprocate his kindness in the best way possible. Good people should be appreciated.

"How about I check the morgue? Who knows what might have happened to him" he suggested with a shrug. That dude might not have survived it. He saw him shivering, his teeth shattering and his body already getting pale back then.

"Are you a fool?" She demanded, in a tone of irritation. Someone helped them and all he could think about is perhaps he is dead? Why should a place like a morgue ever occur to him?

"Yes, people think I am" he replied and continued "And my suggestion brewed from my concerned mind. I might get there now and find him there lying peacefully. I'll give his family the jacket and thank them for the kindness of their son.

That way, your conscience will be at ease. This jacket is the only way we can get him. I'll tell them he helped us and forgot his jacket nearby..." he was saying when she interrupted him.

"I have zero tolerance for fools, Gregory. You don't know me? How dare you display your foolishness before me? You'll get lost from my sight and bear this in mind that the next time you act stupid before me, I'll have your fingers chopped and fed to the dogs.

Now give me the hospital report before night falls or consider yourself fired!" She thundered.

Chapter 6

"Yes, yes.." Gregory stuttered and stormed away in confusion. What has he done now? His generosity will one day put him in trouble. He gave a suggestion and this iron fisted woman is going to have issues with him?

Camella is the heiress of the Wood family and the new CEO of the Wood's electroworld. She'd just returned from abroad where she'd studied for her doctorate. An only daughter, raised by her dad and pampered all her life.

She hadn't stopped thinking about that kind hearted young man. No matter how much she tried to wave the thought of him off her mind, her thoughts would linger back to him.

"Camella dear, it's freezing. Come over dear" Sarah urged. She draped a jacket over her shoulders and Camella turned with a smile. She hugged herself, pulling the jacket to cover her upper body properly.

"No news about him, nanny" she flippantly said. How would she know what it means to be freezing when someone practically risked his life in the snow to help her. Perhaps that cold might have gotten to his heart and he'd ended up in the hospital.

Lying in the hospital on Christmas eve. The church bell will soon stroke midnight and it will be the 25th. If ever she meets him again, she would repay his kindness.

"You will meet him some day dear. Kind people are like angels, not easily forgotten" Sarah assured. She'd known Camella since she was born, never had she been so worried about anyone like this before.

Whoever that kind hearted young man was, she hopes they meet again soon. She can't afford seeing her daughter so worked up like this. Having raised her, she feels her pains and carries her burdens with her always.

Camella nodded and said "yeah, I hope to see him again"

Two weeks later.

Andre got to work early. That day was going to get busy somehow. He wouldn't even wait for breakfast as he dashed out of the house. He was working in the Coupling department as one of its engineers.

Busy in the workshop, a colleague came over to him, "Andre, you need to take a glimpse at the new CEO of the company..." he was saying but Andre didn't respond. If there was a need for that, they would have invited him over.

"Andre, I honestly took a deep breath when I saw..." Sam was tattering on when Andre interrupted him "I'm off to have my lunch" and walked out. He doesn't have such time for cheap women gossip.

As he stepped out, the company's PRO brought the new CEO and showed her around the company. Sam swallowed hard as he admired the beautiful young woman who had taken over the company from her father.

As Sam was introduced to her, she didn't even spare him a glance besides a brief casual glance and stepped out. She soon went round the company and returned to her new office.

"This is absolutely unimaginable dad. I didn't expect the company to be so vast with hundreds of employees..." Camella stuttered, feeling totally exhausted. She sank into the sofa and her dad's secretary poured her a glass of mineral water and stepped out.

"This is now your empire to manage Camella. I have full faith in you and your leadership training and skill. I know you are capable, I know you will pilot the affairs of this company better than I ever did.

I'm retiring from active involvement in the company's affairs but I will be there to guide you whenever you need me. Feel free to always come to me at any crossroads when you are to make a critical decision.

Don't let anyone despise you, Camella. Hold your head up and walk with your shoulders high. You're a woman but you have the strength of ten men put together. Be brave and courageous. Don't get intimidated by anyone nor by your competitors.

They'll come for you, but show them that you are prepared for them anytime and always. And I'm glad that you have a smart man by your side, Fred Maxwell will always remain your right hand man..." Benson Wood instructed.

Camella Wood took a deep breath, closed her eyes and snapped them open, grabbing her dad's arms and standing up, "you can trust me dad, I'll be a female boss that cannot be forgotten in a hurry" she assured.

"That's the spirit. Don't forget you are the daughter of a tiger and that agility in me, I have transferred to you" Benson proudly declared.

The company went about its normal activities and by the close of the day, Andre closed like every other person. As he stepped out of the elevator, he crossed paths with an elegant lady and he just walked away without passing her a glance.

Camella Wood squinted. Doesn't this fellow recognise who she is? She could see the company's ID hung around his neck and he almost bumped into her without acknowledging her? Who the hell is he?

"Find out who that idiot is," she instructed. She needs to use someone for a scapegoat. They aren't going to hold her in high esteem if she doesn't do that. And it appears she'd found just that person.

"His name is Andre Torello ma'am. One of the engineers in the works department" Fred Maxwell informed. He had worked as Benson Wood personal assistant and when he left office, he assigned him to his daughter. He believes she would be able to learn a lot with Fred.

Andre got into his car and drove off. He was stopping by the grocery store and got a few things for himself and his mom. He'd become an extremely introverted person after that incident with Jasmine. He detest the female folks greatly.

They are not to be trusted. One minute they confess their feelings for you and the next minute, they're in the arms of another woman. What matters to him henceforth is taking care of his mother and living for himself henceforth.

He was with Jasmine and she had gotten involved with someone else. She was spending time with him and the next, she was having an affair with Patrick and eventually became pregnant with his child.

As he paid for his groceries, he stepped out of the store only to bump into a woman again. This time, he felt the fragrance was familiar but he simply glanced at her briefly and said "You should use your eyes properly next time Miss" he sneered and walked to his car.

"Hmmm" the woman grunted and glared at his retreating back view.
