Chapter 1

Vivian Wilson and I were childhood sweethearts. Later, she fell in love with someone else but was opposed by everyone. In the end, she had no choice but to listen to her parents and marry me.

We became a famous model couple among our friends. We never quarreled and loved each other very much. We were a couple that everyone envied.

However, people didn't know that Vivian had always loved her paralyzed ex-boyfriend Chris Jackson deeply.

To take care of him, she even wanted to take him back home even though she knew that Chris had a car accident because he was caught cheating in bed and was retaliated against.

Even so, Vivian was still very tolerant and patient with him.

Even on our wedding anniversary, she accompanied him in rehabilitation.

I was disheartened and died unexpectedly in a fire.

When I opened my eyes again, I wanted to leave Vivian.

"Issac, Chris' condition has worsened. I won't go back tonight."

Before I could react, Vivian called me. I was about to speak, but she hung up.

I looked at the ceiling in confusion and finally regained my memory.

Vivian was my wife, and Chris was her first love who had both legs amputated in a car accident.

I saw a cake on the table with a big number five on it.

I remembered that today was our fifth wedding anniversary.

I waited for Vivian at home for a long time, but she told me that she would accompany Chris.

She and I had been childhood sweethearts for more than 20 years, and everyone thought that we would be together.

However, when she went to college, she met Chris and fell in love with him.

Chris was a poor boy, and Vivian's parents didn't agree them to be together. They wanted Vivian to stay with me, who was a good match for her.

They used many means to break them up, and finally, an unexpected car accident completely cut off the possibility of them being together.

Vivian didn't dare to disobey her parents anymore and agreed to marry me.

I was happy to marry her.

Very few people knew that I was willing to marry Vivian not only because we had an engagement, but also because I had been secretly in love with her for a long time.

I did it with all my heart.

But I didn't expect that my willingness wouldn't warm her heart even after five years of marriage.

During the five years, whenever there was something important, Chris would happen to be feeling unwell.

Every time, it was always me who was left behind.

That day, I was so disheartened that I accidentally knocked over the candlesticks of the carefully arranged candlelight dinner, and the fire instantly engulfed me.

Before I died, I thought if I were given a chance to start over again, I would leave Vivian.

Unexpectedly, I was given a chance to be reborn.

Thinking of this, I immediately took out my cell phone and called Vivian.

I said, "Vivian, I'm setting you free. See you at the city hall tomorrow. I wish you happiness."

Chapter 2

Late at night, Vivian hurried back home.

She was very unhappy with my behavior because she was the one who could boss me around and I would always obey her.

"Issac, what's wrong with you?"

She threw her bag away angrily. She still smelled of disinfectant, and she had indeed rushed back from the hospital.

I drank Coke as I replied to her, "I'm serious. I want to get a divorce."

I looked indifferent, which made her a little angry.

Vivian's pretty face was wrinkled, and she endured for a long time before she didn't curse me with the most vicious words.

"I don't agree." She said, dodging my eyes.

I knew why she didn't want to get a divorce. After we got married, her parents were afraid that she would do something stupid again, so they put all her property under my name.

Without me, she wouldn't even have the money to pay for Chris' medical treatment.

She also thought of this, and her expression immediately eased a lot.

"Issac, don't be impulsive. I was wrong tonight. I can explain..."

"No need to explain. I will return your money to you." I interrupted her.

I knew she loved Chris deeply both in my previous life and this life.

I once loved her so much, so I would help her.

When Vivian saw that I was serious, her expression became a little distorted.

She gritted her teeth and said, "What are you doing now? Didn't you agree that I went to take care of him?"

She was right. I agreed to all of this.

In my previous life, I felt sorry for her because I knew she was forced by her parents.

So I told her that I would not sleep with her after we got married, and if she wanted to take care of Chris, I had no complaints.

But I didn't expect she would go so far.

On our wedding day, she dumped me in front of all our friends and family because the hospital told her that Chris had a mental breakdown during rehabilitation treatment and was threatening to commit suicide.

She rushed out in the dress without hesitation.

In the end, I was the only one left to help her clean up the mess.

I was drunk that night, but Vivian didn't answer my calls.

When her parents called me expressing their concerns, I had to keep it a secret for her.

I told her parents that she was tired and went to bed.

In fact, she was in the hospital crying with Chris at that time.

I stayed alone in the room all night, and she hurried back early the next morning.

"Chris' condition is serious, and I need to take care of him."

After saying that, she started to pack up.

She was eager to take care of Chris, but she didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt towards me.

I held back my sadness and gave her some money.

"I know you don't have any money, so just take this."

She was very touched and took it happily.

"You're so nice to me." After saying this, she left.

I thought, "Since you said I'm nice to you, why can't you be nice to me?"

I finally made up my mind.

As I looked at Vivian, I put those sad things behind me.

"I am not joking, nor am I intentionally trying to draw your attention."

I looked at her and said word by word, "Let's get divorced."

Chapter 3

Vivian ran away in anger.

Before leaving, she threatened me not to regret it.

I didn't respond and remained indifferent no matter what she said.

In the past few years, I had always played the role of a good husband, so she had never cared about me.

I didn't know if she would feel sad for me when she heard the news that I died on the anniversary day in my previous life.

Maybe after I died, she could be together with Chris openly.

After all, that was her lifelong wish.

In this life, I would fulfill her wish.

Within two minutes, Vivian sent me a message.

[Chris and I have broken up a long time ago. He is now alone and in great pain. I have to take care of him. Besides, you promised before, and you broke your promise.]

I turned off my phone and didn't even reply to her.

Chris was in pain, and what about me?

Over the past five years, I had watched my wife love another man and leave me behind at every important moment.

Was I not in pain?

Every time my relatives and friends asked me about my relationship with Vivian, I could only smile and make excuses for her. Was I not in pain?

I was completely disappointed.

Thinking of everything in the past, I couldn't stand it anymore, so I picked up my coat and went home.
