Chapter 3

After watching the nurse treat Edwina's wound, Ronnie said to Edwina calmly, “It's not convenient for Diane to stay in the hospital. I will send her back to the villa to settle down and come to see you later.”

Edwina did not want to stay in the hospital. No matter how many times she got an IV drip, her kidneys would never grow back and her eyes would never recover.

It would be better to go back to the villa early to pack up and prepare to leave in a few days.

Edwina said calmly, “I want to go back. I don't want to stay in the hospital.”

Ronnie thought Edwina could not leave him, so he wanted to go back with him.

He knew that since being kidnapped, Edwina felt very insecure and wanted to stay with him.

But thinking of Edwina's attitude towards Diane just before, Ronnie knew that Edwina must be depressed because she was blind. He was afraid that Edwina would vent her anger on Diane.

Ronnie touched Edwina's head and coaxed her, “Be good, I will pick you up from the hospital tomorrow morning.”

After saying that, Ronnie pulled Diane away.

Before leaving, Ronnie considerately turned off the lights in the room and wished Edwina a good night.

But what Ronnie did not know was that Edwina did not like to turn off the lights to sleep at all. She was most afraid of the dark.

The reason why Edwina turned off the lights when sleeping in the past few years was simply because she was afraid that Ronnie would not have a good sleep.

Edwina could not help but laugh at herself. For so many years, she had been accommodating Ronnie.

Edwina knew that Ronnie had his first love in his heart before.

It was just that she had never seen it before and always thought that this first love was just an excuse for Ronnie to reject her.

So, because of Ronnie's words that he wanted to get married, she gave up her beloved medical research, married Ronnie and became a housewife.

Knowing that Ronnie was picky about food, she learned how to cook a variety of dishes and cooked for him herself.

But then it seemed that all the sincere efforts made over the years are just a joke.

She never thought that Ronnie wanted to marry her as a substitute.

But the substitute was no match for the first love after all.

Edwina curled up in the quilt and did not sleep all night.

The next morning, Edwina waited for Ronnie to pick her up.

She never thought that the reporter would arrive earlier than Ronnie.

Edwina did not know the identities of these people. She could only roughly see that a lot of people rushed into the ward, which scared her.

Edwina exclaimed, “Who are you?!”

The reporters turned on their microphones and began to ask, “Ms. Anderson, we are media reporters. In the early morning, a video of you and a man making love was circulated online. Do you have any explanation for this?”

The reporter turned on the video and held the phone in front of Edwina.

Edwina could not see the content on the phone, but she could hear the familiar voice of the man on the phone.

She knew that this was the kidnapper who had assaulted her.

But the kidnapper was hired by Ronnie, so only Ronnie had the video.

How did this video get out?

Before she could think about it, the reporters started talking at once, “Ms. Anderson, Mr. Cervantes's wedding with you was the wedding of the century. Mr. Cervantes spends a fortune celebrating your birthday every year.

“Mr. Cervantes loves you so much, why did you cheat? Is it because you cannot stand the loneliness?

“Ms. Anderson, you are sick and in the hospital now. Is it because of your undisciplined lifestyle that you got sick?”

The netizens’ sharp questions pierced into Edwina's heart like a sword.

The painful scar was torn open and exposed bloody.

Edwina cried and curled up in the quilt, trying to escape.

But these reporters did not let her go. They lifted the quilt and even a few male reporters took the opportunity to touch Edwina's breasts and ass.

Edwina sat on the edge of the bed, constantly pushing away the hands of several reporters, crying and shouting, “What are you doing? Don't touch me! Go away!”

The male reporter said disdainfully, “Ms. Anderson, we did not do anything. Don't accuse us. Are you trying to be a whore and still want to pretend to be a saint?”

“That's right. Miss Anderson, why is Mr. Cervantes not by your side today? Is it because he saw the video and knew you were a slut, so he doesn't want you anymore?”

The male reporters' vicious words made Edwina feel extremely uncomfortable both physically and psychologically.

Edwina yelled, “This is a private place, get out! Get out!”

Of course, the reporters would not just leave obediently. They even went further and pointed the cameras at various suggestive parts of Edwina and took close-ups.

Edwina collapsed and screamed, “Get out!”

“What are you doing?” Ronnie's angry roar came from the door.

Seeing Ronnie coming, the reporters began to surround him and asked, “Mr. Cervantes, have you seen the video of Mrs. Cervantes and another man on the Internet?”

Ronnie frowned and asked, “What video?”

The reporter played the video. When Ronnie saw it, his face turned pale and he growled with a gloomy look in his eyes, “Who is it? Who spread it out?”

The reporter passed the microphone to Ronnie and asked, “Mr. Cervantes, what do you think about Mrs. Cervantes's affair? Can you accept that your significant other is a fickle slut?”

Ronnie kicked the reporter to the ground and said, “Get out! Get the hell out of here! If anyone dares to post the video of the interview with Edwina online, I will chop off his hand.

“Get out while I’m still patient!”

Seeing Ronnie getting angry, the reporters did not dare to say anything more and left the room angrily.

Edwina sat curled up at the head of the bed, sobbing constantly, like a wounded little white rabbit.

When Ronnie saw Edwina's look, his heart ached and he quickly stepped forward and hugged Edwina in his arms.

But Edwina pushed him away and slapped him hard.

Ronnie was a little stunned by being beaten. He thought that Edwina did not know it was him who came forward because she was blind.

Ronnie said softly, “Don't be afraid, Edwina. I'm Ronnie. I'm here. The bad guys have been driven away by me. I'm here. Don't be afraid.”

“I won't abandon you. I will always be by your side.”

Listening to Ronnie's words, Edwina could not help but sneer. The bad guys were driven away by him?

If he had not spread the video, how could these reporters come to interview her?

If he had not picked her up earlier, how could these reporters have bullied her?

Did he really like to play the hero-saving-the-beauty role?

Edwina stared at Ronnie with hatred that could not be hidden in her eyes.

Chapter 4

Ronnie felt a little uncomfortable being stared at by Edwina. He knew that Edwina was angry, so he apologized, “I'm sorry Edwina, I should not have left you alone in the hospital and I came so late. It's my fault.”

Edwina was not interested in Ronnie's apology at all. She just thought in her heart that Penelope would come to pick her up and leave on another day.

Edwina forced herself to calm down and said calmly, “I want to go home.”

Ronnie nodded and said, “Okay, okay, let's go home now.”

Ronnie packed up Edwina's things, completed the discharge procedures and took Edwina away.

In the car, Ronnie kept talking to Edwina, but Edwina did not say a word in response.

After entering the villa, Diane greeted Edwina enthusiastically, “Edwina is back. I cut some fruit for you. Come and have some.”

Edwina did not want to pay attention to Diane and walked straight to her bedroom.

Diane's eyes instantly turned red after being ignored by Edwina. Seeing this, Ronnie frowned and said, “Edwina, Diane is greeting you, why don't you say anything?”

Not to mention Diane, even Ronnie was being ignored by her.

Edwina went upstairs to the bedroom and closed the door heavily.

Diane said aggrievedly, “Is Edwina still angry with me?”

Ronnie felt very strange looking at the closed bedroom. He felt that Edwina seemed a little different from before.

Ronnie wiped Diane's tears, “Don't think too much, Edwina cannot see, maybe she's in a bad mood, it's not because of you.”

Diane sniffed and said, “Then let's take Edwina with us to the class reunion tonight. She is blind and it is inconvenient for him to be alone at home. Although there is a nanny, I am still worried.”

Ronnie smiled and said, “Okay, I'll listen to you.”

Edwina returned to the bedroom and wanted to pack up her things, but she was so sleepy that she fell on the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

Edwina was woken up by Ronnie, who said gently, “Edwina, wake up. I'll take you to the party.”

Edwina was still in a daze when Ronnie picked her up and carried her into the car.

By the time she was fully sober and wanted to refuse, the driver had already started the car.

Edwina frowned and asked, “Where are we going?”

Diane explained, “Ronnie and I are going to attend a class reunion together. We are worried about you being alone at home, so we took you with us.”

Edwina whispered, “I'm not going.”

Ronnie said gently, “Don't make trouble, be good. Let's just go sit for a while and go back soon, okay?”

Edwina knew that Ronnie would not change his mind and there was no point in saying more, so Edwina simply kept her mouth shut.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the three of them got out of the car together.

When they entered the private room, everyone could not help but make a noise when they saw Diane and Ronnie coming in together, but the moment they saw Edwina, they shut up.

Ronnie pulled the chair away and helped Edwina sit down.

After sitting Edwina down, he pulled the chair beside him away and let Diane sit on the other side of him.

As soon as Diane sat down, someone started to make a noise, “Diane, we have not seen each other for so many years, I miss you so much. Come on, have a drink!”

Diane blushed and hesitated to speak. Ronnie took the wine on Diane's table and said, “She just had surgery a while ago and cannot drink. I'll drink it for her.”

The old classmate on the opposite side insisted, “Hey, hey, hey, how can that be possible? This cup of wine is a toast to girls after all, what's the point of a grown man drinking it? If Diane cannot drink it, or let Edwina take her place.”

Chapter 5

After hearing this, Edwina finally understood.

They actually did not care about drinking toast. Once seeing Ronnie came with two women beside him, those people wanted to know who the man favored more.

Edwina sat there without moving. Ronnie looked at Edwina with embarrassment, then pushed the wine in front of Edwina and said, “Edwina, Diane had an operation last month and cannot drink. You can help her drink it.”

Edwina asked back, “Did you forget? I was just discharged from the hospital this morning too.”

Ronnie was choked for a moment and Diane pretended to come to his rescue, saying, “It's okay. Edwina did have surgery yesterday. I'll drink this glass of wine myself.”

“No, your body cannot handle it. Edwina's surgery is on her eyes, so drinking won't be a problem.”

After saying that, Ronnie put the wine into her mouth, pinched Edwina's chin with his hand and passed the wine into Edwina's mouth mouth to mouth.

Edwina did not expect Ronnie to be like this. She did not react for a moment and swallowed the whole glass of white wine.

When everyone saw this scene, they could not help but make a noise.

Edwina choked a little and could not help coughing. She stood up immediately, but Ronnie grabbed Edwina and asked, “Where are you going?”

“To the bathroom.”

“You cannot see, I'll accompany you.”

“No, there’s a waiter. Edwina brushed away Ronnie's hand and went to the bathroom on her own.

Edwina wanted to vomit out the wine, but she had not eaten much and after vomiting for a long time, nothing came out.

Edwina thought about how Ronnie had forced her to drink a whole glass of white wine for Diane.

Who knows what he might do to hurt Diane in the future.

But fortunately, she would be leaving soon.

Edwina returned to the box and was about to push open the door when she heard the conversation inside the box.

“Ronnie, why did you bring a blind man to your class reunion?”

“That's right, Ronnie. Back then, you broke up with Diane and Diane married your brother out of spite. Then you turned around and found Edwina, who looked a bit like Diane, to temporarily relieve your longing for her.”

“Now that your brother has passed away, Diane has become a widow at a young age. I would say that you should quickly divorce that blind man and be with Diane.”

“I also think that you and Diane are the most suitable for each other in this world!”

Diane interrupted, “Don’t say that, guys. Ronnie and I are a thing of the past.”

“Do you dare to say that you don’t love Ronnie?”

“I...” Diane blushed and lowered her head.

Diane's reaction was like a stimulant and everyone kept urging them to kiss each other.

Everyone's words continued to irritate Edwina. She was obviously Ronnie's legally married wife, so why did they see her as the third party who interfered with the relationship between Diane and Ronnie?

Edwina did not want to play along with them anymore, so she turned around and left.

The driver saw Edwina and asked in confusion, “Madam, is the party over?”

“No, it's still going on. I don't want to stay here anymore. Send me back.”

The driver responded, started the car and drove back to the villa.

When the car was halfway through the journey, Edwina suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen.

Edwina groaned a few times, “Madam, what's wrong with you?”

The driver saw through the mirror that Edwina's white skirt was now bright red. “Madam!”

“Go... go to the hospital.”

After saying this, Edwina fell into a deep faint.

When she woke up again, she was already in the hospital again.

Seeing Edwina open her eyes, Ronnie asked in surprise, “Edwina, are you awake?”

Edwina asked weakly, “What's wrong with me?”

Hearing this, Ronnie lowered his head in shame and choked up, “You had a miscarriage. The doctor said that you may never get pregnant again in this life.

“Edwina, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I should not have forced you to drink that glass of wine.

“I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I'm sorry for you, Edwina.”

Miscarriage? Edwina was stunned as if she was struck by lightning.

She once wanted a baby so much, but when the baby was finally here, she did not protect it well.

In fact, she loved children so much, but she could never get pregnant in this life.

It was all Ronnie’s fault.

Edwina cried bitterly and kept beating Ronnie, “It's all your fault, it's all your fault! You are the murderer who killed my baby. Why don't you just die? Die!”

Ronnie hugged Edwina tightly with a distressed look in his eyes and apologized repeatedly, “I'm sorry Edwina, it's all my fault, but it doesn't matter if we don't have a child, we can live alone.

“If you like children, we can adopt one in the future, right? Don't be sad, okay?”

Ronnie and Edwina completely disappeared and she would never forgive Ronnie in her life.

In the future? Edwina sneered in her heart. They had no future.
