Chapter 3

"Grayson, please. I beg you. Make her stop!" This was the fourth time I had begged him.

Grayson frowned, finally looking a little uneasy.

Mary explained softly, "Grayson, professional race car drivers have to undergo stress training. It's a necessary part of becoming a professional driver. I'm just helping Alaire overcome her fear."

Grayson could only say, "Alright then."

Just then, a sharp pain shot through my abdomen. A hot rush of fluid poured out.

My vision went black from the pain. "I ... I'm going into labor ... stop the car now!"

But Mary's smile grew wider. "Alaire, let me give you a hand."

She suddenly stomped on the accelerator and charged toward the most dangerous five consecutive hairpin turns.

The engine roared deafeningly. The speedometer needle was spinning wildly, already hitting 150.

The first turn was right in front of us.

I closed my eyes, convinced I was going to die.

"Ugh … ugh." I was in so much pain I could barely breathe.

The car swayed wildly under Mary's reckless control, each drift causing excruciating pain in my abdomen.

She completely ignored my pain and instead excitedly shouted, "Alaire, do you feel the allure of speed?"

Blood kept flowing from between my legs, staining the seat red. But I couldn't feel the pain anymore.

This was definitely not a good sign.

"Grayson, help! Look at the baby. I'm not going to make it."

I desperately pleaded for help through the rearview mirror, my voice hoarse.

Mary said softly, "Alaire, your condition is a bit dangerous; you might go into premature labor. I'm just trying to get you to the hospital faster."

To the hospital? She's trying to kill me!

During my pregnancy, my dad had repeatedly urged me to rest and take care of the baby, saying my position was perfect and I could have a natural birth.

Now she says she's taking me to the hospital?

The car was speeding up and Mary's eyes were gleaming with madness. She was glancing at her notes while wildly turning the steering wheel.

"Here, uses inertial drift."

The final curve came into view.

Mary made a technical error and the front of the car slammed into the guardrail.

The massive collision echoed through the valley.

The airbag deployed instantly, slamming into my stomach.

"No … "

I suddenly felt an emptiness in my belly.

The baby ... was gone.

I trembled as I looked down at myself. My lower body was covered in blood.

Mary, however, was unharmed. Her face flushed with excitement as she shouted into the live stream camera. "Guys, I did it! I conquered the mountain!"

The live stream chat was flooded with messages.

[Mary is so amazing!]

[What an incredible skill!]

[What's wrong with the woman next to her? Why does she look so pale?]

Grayson finally arrived, hugging Mary happily and saying, "Mary, now you can get your professional racing license."

He was my husband.

But at that moment, he didn't look at me once.

I was covered in blood, my life hanging in the balance, yet he was celebrating.

"This is all thanks to Alaire for helping me overcome my fear." Mary smiled sweetly.

Grayson finally looked at me. "Alaire, you've always wanted that Angel Series racing suit, right? I'll buy it for you today as a reward for being my practice partner."

That racing suit was my teenage dream.

I had pointed to the poster and shown it to him, hoping he would give it to me on my birthday.

He agreed to buy it for me now, not because he loved me, but because I had used my life and my child's life as a stepping stone for Mary.

"By the way, Grayson, the racing circle is too chaotic now. Let me help you figure out if she really loves you."

Chapter 4

Mary pulled out her phone, opened an app and scanned my pupils.

"Her heart rate is too fast and her pupils are dilated. This is a sign of extreme terror. It shows she doesn't trust your judgment at all."

She turned to Grayson, her voice tinged with smugness. "She doesn't love you, Grayson."

I had lost my child and was in too much pain to speak.

But he cared whether I loved him or not?

I reached out my bloody hand, wanting to touch my stomach, but it was already cold.

"Grayson, please … save me ..."

Mary walked over, grabbed my hair and dragged me out of the car.

"What a weak body, deliberately defying me, huh? Why so fragile?"

She slapped me across the face.

The searing pain snapped me back to reality.

Grayson finally noticed the blood beneath me. "Why is there so much blood?"

"Grayson, don't worry, maybe there's something wrong with her body!"

Mary said, then kicked my stomach hard.

Crack!

The crisp sound of bones breaking echoed.

The excruciating pain overwhelmed me and I blacked out completely.

The last thing I heard was Mary's panicked voice.

"Hmm, Grayson. Alaire … seems to be faking her pregnancy!"

"Alaire, you've been lying to me all this time?"

Grayson's voice echoed through the valley as he strode toward me and slapped me across the face.

The searing pain snapped me back to consciousness. I tried to explain, but only a weak gasp came out of my throat.

"Why didn't you tell me you were faking your pregnancy? Speak up!"

I opened my mouth but couldn't utter a single word. Blood continued to flow from between my legs, staining the ground red.

"Grayson, look, she's admitting it," Mary added fuel to the fire.

I trembled with anger. Fake pregnancy? I was clearly pregnant with his child and I just lost it in the car accident!

"I get it now. Alaire faked the pregnancy to trick you into buying her that expensive racing suit!"

Grayson suddenly understood, pointing at my nose. "So, you were just trying to scam my money! Pretending to be pregnant for ten months to make me spend money on you! You're a gold digger!"

Tears blurred my vision. He was the owner of the top racing club in the country, worth over a hundred million. A racing suit costing tens of thousands was now evidence of my ulterior motives in his eyes.

"Grayson, the fans in the livestream saw it." Mary held up her phone. "It was her own poor health that caused the sudden bleeding, which led to my crash."

She quickly edited the video, deleting all the painful scenes, leaving only the "sudden bleeding" footage.

"Bitch!"

Grayson kicked me in the chest.

The sound of cracking ribs echoed as I flew backward and slammed into the guardrail.

The live stream chat exploded with messages.

[Grayson loves you so much, giving you a stable life, yet you betrayed him?]

[Look at her weak appearance—she's clearly a scheming bitch!]

[This kind of woman deserves to be thrown off a cliff!]

The fans, unaware of the truth, berated me in the chat.

Grayson's face darkened as he kicked me in the stomach again. "Bitch, are you having someone else? Tell me, or I'll destroy him!"

The intense pain nearly suffocated me. I wanted to tell him that the child was his, that I had never betrayed him.

But the words were stuck in my throat and I couldn't speak.

"You won't say it? If you don't say it, I'll beat you to death!"

Grayson kicked hard at my bleeding leg.

His punches and kicks rained down on me. Each blow carried his rage and hatred.

"Grayson, to deal with a slut like Alaire, you should make her experience true despair."

Mary handed the car keys to Grayson.

He took the keys, a vicious glint flashing in his eyes.

"You're right."

Grayson walked over, roughly dragged me up and shoved me back into the driver's seat.

Then he started the engine and slowly backed the car up.

The rear of the car hung precariously over the cliff edge.

The fear of death overwhelmed me. Through the rearview mirror, I saw the bottomless abyss—the dark valley like an open maw.

"Grayson, don't … " I finally managed to speak, my voice weak as a mosquito's buzz.

"Now you're scared?" He sneered and pressed the accelerator.

The car continued to back up, with half of the tires already hanging in the air.

I gripped the steering wheel tightly, my nails digging into my flesh.

"Alaire will die like this," Mary said, feigning concern.

"Let her die!"

Grayson slammed the gas pedal and the rear of the car was completely suspended in the air.

The entire vehicle was barely supported by the front wheels, ready to plunge at any moment.

I closed my eyes, thinking this was really the end.

Just then, a piercing engine roar echoed from below the mountain.

Several beams of bright light pierced the darkness, shining directly toward us.

"Alaire, Dad's here!"
