Frank was still watching the Werewolves with wide eyes when he witnessed them entering the castle grounds, causing him to panic even more.
“Hey, John! Quickly look, all the Werewolves are entering the courtyard!” Frank exclaimed in shock.
But John remained seated, seemingly indifferent to Frank’s recent misfortune, and continued to sip his hot coffee. Seeing his friend’s lack of concern, Frank became even more puzzled and approached John.
“Why don’t you care when I call you?” Frank asked, with a bewildered expression.
“I know the Werewolves will come to this castle after they finish their prey,” John replied, still sitting on the sofa.
“Why are they entering this castle?” Frank asked, puzzled.
“That’s the mystery that has never been answered until now,” John replied, taking a deep breath.
Frank fell silent upon hearing his friend’s words, but he couldn’t help but think that perhaps the castle’s servants would be the next victims of the Werewolves.
“Have the Werewolves ever preyed on the servants here?” Frank asked, with a worried tone.
“Never once has there been a victim among the workers in this castle,” John replied confidently.
“I feel relieved to hear that, my body feels weak and helpless,” Frank said with a joyful expression.
John stood up and left the room. He was already sleepy when it was 4:00 in the morning, and the same was true for Frank, who had fallen asleep. When they woke up late in the morning, Malcolm scolded them. The head of the household was angry because Mr. George and Mrs. Marinda were going to a funeral today. John and Frank apologized to Malcolm for their carelessness.
In the castle courtyard, there was a busy atmosphere as several workers prepared the car and all the necessities to be donated to the victim’s family. Shortly after, George and Marinda entered the car, and George asked Brad to drive him to the Charles Nixon family’s house. The luxurious car slowly left the castle grounds, accompanied by John and Frank’s strange gazes.
After both of his masters left, the atmosphere in the castle returned to silence as they resumed their tasks, while in the Parvun forest not far from the castle, a foul smell filled the area, emanating from the body of a woman who had been torn apart by a pack of werewolves.
Coincidentally, a hunter was passing through the forest, hunting a deer, when suddenly his sense of smell was disturbed by the foul odor, making his stomach churn instantly.
“Where is this foul smell coming from?” he wondered to himself as he tried to locate the source of the stench.
He was shocked to see the corpse of a woman with a large hole in her stomach lying stiff behind a big tree. Her entire abdominal organs were missing, both of her eye sockets were empty, leaving only her tongue protruding out, and her body was covered with scratches and tears, smeared with dried and musty blood.
“This is truly horrifying,” Roy said, trying to hold back his nausea.
Roy suspected that this woman had fallen victim to the ferocity of wild animals while crossing the forest. The young man immediately left the area and intended to report this incident to the head of the Hogan village.
Roy was a newcomer to the village of Hogan; he had just moved there yesterday with his mother and three siblings because their old house in London had been sold. Since the death of his father, his mother decided to move to the small village where there was a house inherited from his late grandfather. Now, the empty house was inhabited again and bustling with life.
Roy arrived at his village and hurriedly walked towards Mr. Tomy Brugman’s house. He knocked on the door, calling out the village head’s name, and footsteps could be heard approaching the door. Mr. Tomy now stood before him with a panicked expression.
“What’s wrong, Roy?” Mr. Tomy asked, looking at the young man in surprise.
“A woman has been killed in the forest, it seems like she was attacked by a wild animal!” Roy exclaimed, out of breath.
“Oh my goodness! Poor woman, let’s call some villagers to bury her there!” Mr. Tomy invited, closing his door.
The middle-aged man called out to several villagers through a loudspeaker, and in an instant, almost all the villagers gathered to hear the bad news. Among the villagers, Mother Lorena and his three siblings were present, listening to the announcement with worried faces. Roy approached his mother and explained what he had seen, reminding her to be cautious of wild animals.
“I saw the body in the forest and reported the incident to Mr. Tomy,” Roy said.
“How terrifying that incident was, my son,” his mother replied with a panicked face.
“I have to go back to the forest to escort them now,” Roy said again.
“Alright, be cautious when you are there,” his mother reminded her son.
Roy nodded and before leaving once again, he reminded his family to quickly enter and lock the house, as many wild animals were lurking in the surrounding area.
The village officials immediately headed to the forest and they were all shocked to find out that the terrible incident reported by Roy was indeed true.
Mr. Tomy, along with several villagers, began to dig a hole to bury the woman’s body, and then, after they finished, they held a simple burial ceremony in the forest.
After that terrible incident, Roy never went back there to hunt deer, he was very anxious that he might experience the same thing as that woman at any time. A few days later, a middle-aged woman came to Hogan village, she seemed busy asking some villagers and finally came to Roy’s house as directed by them.
The woman, with hesitant steps, knocked on the door and not long after, Roy stood in front of her, looking at her in surprise.
Then, the woman introduced herself and explained her purpose for coming to this village. Roy felt sorry for the woman, he found it difficult to explain the truth. So, he could only remain silent and at that moment, Lorena’s mother appeared and sat next to her son, smiling as the woman turned to Roy and gestured for her son to remain silent.
With confidence and calmness, Lorena’s mother explained the characteristics of the girl being sought by the woman, stating that the girl was not a resident of this village.
The woman continued to listen to Lorena's mother's explanation until suddenly she screamed hysterically and cried out loudly as she fell to the floor. Lorena's mother and Roy were shocked to see this and tried to calm the woman's heart.
"Be patient, Catrin! Calm yourself!" shouted Lorena's mother as she held the woman's shoulder.
"I can't bear to see Inggrid die like that!" Catrin shouted as she struggled to release her shoulder from Lorena's grip.
Roy panicked and brought a glass of cold water, which he gave to the woman. After drinking the water, Catrin's feelings calmed down a bit and she began to tell Lorena about something unknown to her.
Catrin began to tell about her daughter who had left a week ago with a handsome young man, and she didn't know where her daughter had met this young man. The last time Inggrid asked for permission to go to Cardiff with the young man and promised to return before nightfall, Catrin forbade her daughter to go with a man she had just met. However, Inggrid remained firm in her decision, and reluctantly, Catrin gave her permission. That was the last time Catrin saw her daughter alive, and now she heard the news of her daughter's tragic death.
"Maybe that young man killed her," Catrin said, tears streaming down her face.
"I also suspect that," Roy replied, nodding his head.
"We have to investigate this slowly," Lorena said.
Roy said that in any case, this mystery had to be solved so that it wouldn't spread and claim more lives. Both women agreed with Roy's intention.
As the night approached, Lorena asked Catrin to stay overnight at her house, and the woman agreed. Tonight, the full moon appeared, and the village of Hogan seemed somewhat bright with the moonlight shining. Lorena, Roy, and Catrin were still talking when suddenly they were startled by the sound of a long and mournful wolf howl.
They got up from the sofa and approached the window. Coincidentally, the lights inside the house were dim. They widened their eyes as they peeked outside, where two Werewolf humans were running towards the village of Hogan, chasing a man who was screaming for help. However, none of the villagers dared to go out and help. They didn't want to face those ferocious creatures and suffer the fatal consequences.
Roy couldn't help the man. His weapon wouldn't be able to kill the Werewolves, so he intended to meet with a pastor who was his friend to seek a solution to this case.
"We can't help him," Roy said, looking at the man being chased by the two supernatural creatures.
"His fate is the same as my daughter, who was devoured by them," Catrin replied sadly.
"I have to meet Pastor Albert tomorrow," Roy said as he closed the curtains and sat back on the sofa.
"Can he find a solution to this case?" Catrin asked hopefully.
"I don't know yet," Roy replied.
Then the young man explained that he would tell his friend about the case that had happened in this village and ask for guidance. Hearing the young man's words brought a glimmer of hope to escape from the deadly terror that now plagued the once-peaceful village.
The man had been captured and taken by the two werewolves, so all the villagers knew that the man's life would not last much longer. All the lights in the villagers' houses went out, making the village look like an uninhabited silent area. Seeing this, Catrin's mother looked very scared and sad, and she intended to move far away from the Swansea area.
"I will not stay in Swansea anymore," said Catrin's mother.
"Why?" asked Lorena's mother, surprised.
"I want to forget the past and live with my brother in West Germany," Catrin's mother replied, shedding tears.
"Alright then, we can only pray for you," Lorena's mother said with a smile.
The next morning, Roy accompanied Catrin's mother back to her house and then continued his journey to the Bradford church in West Yorkshire. When he arrived there, the atmosphere in the church seemed quiet. Roy entered the large church courtyard with enthusiasm.
He knocked on the door several times, and a monk opened the door. The religious servant asked about the purpose of his visit.
"I want to meet Pastor Albert, is he here?" Roy asked hopefully.
"Of course he is, come with me," Rudi replied, leading the way to the office.
Roy followed the monk, and when they arrived, he saw his friend sitting there, watching Roy's arrival. Pastor Albert was very happy. It had been several years since they had last met, and now they were able to meet again.
"It's been a long time since we last met, is there anything I can help you with?" Pastor Albert asked.
"Of course, I need your help," Roy replied with a smile.
Then, Roy told him about the incident of Inggrid's death in the forest in a horrifying way. Pastor Albert and monk Rudi were very shocked to hear the report.
They empathized with the grief experienced by Catrin's mother, and Pastor Albert promised to help Roy solve this problem.
"I have heard of a plant that can ward off werewolves," Pastor Albert said.
"What plant is that?" Roy asked eagerly.
"Wolfbane," Pastor Albert replied.
"Where can I find that plant?" Roy asked again, becoming more curious as he listened to the explanation from his friend.
Pastor Albert said that the plant was located at the peak of the Cambrian mountains and they had to make the journey tomorrow morning. Hearing the good news, Roy's spirit was reignited and he would convey the good news to his family and the villagers.
Shortly after, he immediately returned to Hogan village with the news and called all the villagers to gather and announce the news.
How joyful all the villagers were when they heard the good news. They had always been haunted by fear because of the werewolf's actions, which had been slaughtering people in several villages in the Swansea region.
The next morning, Roy left accompanied by all the villagers who escorted him to the village border. They hoped that the young man would accomplish his mission and make the village lively again without fear.
Pastor Albert had prepared his horse along with Rudi, while the other monks stayed behind to carry out their church duties as usual. The three of them went to the Cambrian mountains with enthusiasm to find a useful antidote plant to fight against the werewolf pack.
Roy had arrived at the peak of the Cambrian mountains. He dismounted from his horse, as did Pastor Albert and Rudi. The three of them tied the saddle ropes to a large tree. Pastor Albert surveyed the surroundings and then walked far into a cluster of tall and dense trees. Roy and Rudi followed closely behind, observing the various plants thriving there.
Pastor Albert stopped near one particular type of flourishing plant and began plucking it. He then showed it to Roy, saying, "This is the Wolfbane plant I was referring to." Roy replied, holding the plant, "I have only seen it once before. It is truly a beautiful plant."
"Let's gather as much as we can to plant in the village of Hogan and the church," Pastor Albert suggested. Roy and Rudi nodded in agreement and carefully uprooted the plants. Once they felt they had collected enough, the three of them descended from the mountains and made their way back to the Bradford church.
Upon arriving at the church, Pastor Albert instructed some monks to immediately plant the Wolfbane around the church. Roy also hurried back to his village to plant the rare plant. The villagers of Hogan were overjoyed to see Roy successfully bring the protective plant, and they eagerly joined in planting the Wolfbane around the village borders.
As evening approached, they all appeared tired, including Roy, who had been busy dealing with the case for several days. When he reached his room, he immediately fell into a deep sleep. However, he was awakened in the middle of the night by the howling of wolves near the village border. Roy quickly left his room and headed to the courtyard, where he saw several villagers outside, witnessing the event. The villagers had woken up and wanted to ensure that the plant indeed served as a deterrent.
Roy and his neighbors watched as two werewolves attempted to enter the village but were repeatedly thrown back. The supernatural creatures tried multiple times but were always repelled, howling loudly as if expressing their immense frustration. Eventually, they ran away into the forest, snorting in anger. Finally, Roy could breathe a sigh of relief, as the creatures did not return.
The villagers cheered with joy, witnessing the event. They were now convinced that the plant had successfully saved their lives. Shortly after, Lorena's mother woke up, hearing the joyful cheers of her neighbors. She immediately went outside to see the cause of the commotion and shared in her happiness over her son's successful efforts to protect the entire village.
In the Parvun forest, the two werewolves who had been thrown back stopped running. Their breaths were labored, and in an instant, they transformed back into human form. It turned out that the two werewolves were elderly individuals.
"Those insolent people! Now the village is protected by the deterrent plant," Mr. Roger exclaimed angrily.
"True, our movement becomes more difficult with the presence of that plant," Mrs. Brenda replied with a vengeful expression on her face.
"We should report to Bovier," Mr. Roger said.
"Enough, let's go back to the castle now," Mrs. Brenda replied as she transformed back into her original form.
They ran quickly until they arrived at the castle. Without waiting long, they entered the mirror and disappeared instantly without leaving a trace. The arrival of Mr. Roger and Mrs. Brenda was noticed by John, who had been secretly watching their departure from under the big table. John didn't know who they were, but he knew that these two supernatural creatures had been seen coming out of that mirror several times.
"Who are they?" John wondered.
John felt that he had to solve this mystery so that the secret of this cursed mirror would be revealed and the main culprits of this incident would be known to all the castle's inhabitants.
While his mind was wandering, suddenly Mr. George entered the living room. Luckily, John managed to control himself so that he wasn't too surprised by his master's arrival.
He saw Mr. George sitting on the sofa, staring at the mirror. Not long after, he left the room. John breathed a sigh of relief and after waiting for a few minutes and making sure that his master wouldn't return to the room, he quickly got up and crawled out from under the table.
But to his surprise, he heard a voice calling him gently, yet threateningly.
"John, why are you investigating us?" the voice asked faintly and softly as if carried by the wind.
Hearing that eerie and chilling voice, John's hair stood on end. He turned towards the mirror and just stood there, unable to move. Not long after, the mirror spoke again, this time with a deep, threatening voice.
"Don't ever try to eradicate us, because we will chase you wherever you are," the man replied.
Hearing the threat only made John more frightened, and he quickly went to his room and locked the door. From that moment on, when night fell, the servant never left his room to investigate the mystery inside the castle. This was not unnoticed by Frank, who saw John's change in behavior and becoming more introverted every day.
One bright morning, Frank approached John, who was cleaning the stable. At that moment, he immediately asked what caused his friend to become so quiet.
"Why have you been so quiet lately?" Frank asked, looking at his friend.
"I can't talk about it here, it's too dangerous," John replied, looking around the castle.
"Then when will you be honest?" Frank asked, becoming more curious.
"In two days, we will go to Cardiff for shopping and I will tell you everything," John reassured his friend.
"Alright then," Frank said, smiling upon hearing his friend's promise.
Two days later, Frank and John set off for the Ashford district. Every month, John always did this, and coincidentally, Frank had just started working at the castle, so he was assigned by Macom to give directions and train the new servant.
During the journey, John told Frank everything he had seen so far, including the threats from the creatures residing in the mirror. Then, John reminded Frank not to engage in deep conversations while inside the castle, as he didn't know who among the castle's inhabitants were followers of the werewolves.
Upon hearing his friend's words, Frank became even more afraid of getting involved in that mysterious supernatural circle.
