Chapter 2

“Who knew that Mrs. Walton would come today, so Mr. Walton and Miss Clay had no choice but to move to another place.”

“Speaking of which, Mr. Walton is really amazing. He did this kind of thing under Mrs. Walton's nose.”

The employee's sarcastic remarks continued and I almost deformed the armrest under my hand.

It turned out that his panicked call in the morning was from the errand boy.

Their affairs were no longer a secret in the company and I was the only one who was kept in the dark like a fool.

I took the phone that Matt left in the office and went to the rooftop.

But I saw him pushing Iva into the corner and kissing her forcefully.

I had clearly accepted their betrayal in my heart, but seeing that scene with my own eyes, it was still hard to accept.

My heart ached so much that I could not breathe, as if something was holding me back.

As a result, I coughed a few times on purpose.

After a while, Matt came out. He looked guilty, “Vilma, why are you here?”

I handed him the phone calmly and said, “You forgot to bring your phone.” Then I asked him, “What are you doing here?”

Matt's eyes were vague and he did not even believe what he said. “I'm upset at work, so I came up here to get some fresh air.”

I laughed at myself in my heart and said, ‘Matt, just continue acting.’

At that time, Iva walked over while tidying up her clothes.

I sneered, “Miss Clay is here too?”

“Oh, well, I have some work matters to discuss with Miss Clay,” Matt explained anxiously.

“Is that so?” I asked, my eyes moving between them.

Iva pulled at her miniskirt, which only reached her thighs, awkwardly. “Yes, Mr. Walton and I need to have a deeper discussion.”

“Then you two can have your conversation. I'll wait for you in the office.” I turned around calmly, but tears flowed uncontrollably.

Matt, I did not want to love you anymore.

After I left, Matt's face, which was full of smiles one second ago, turned fierce the next.

He grabbed Iva's neck and said through gritted teeth, “Who asked you to come out?”

Iva's face was filled with horror when she answered, “Yes, I'm sorry.”

“Didn't I tell you that if Vilma knew about us, I would have buried you alive?” After he warned her, he pushed Iva to the ground.

Iva crawled up from the ground, eyes full of hatred. “Are you sure you can keep it secret, Mr. Walton? Just wait and see.”

Instead of returning to the office, I took a taxi to a place.

“Miss Flynn, are you sure you want to change your name to Liza Flynn? Then all your documents will need to be updated.”

“Well, I'm leaving here completely.”

I wanted to go to a faraway place where Matt could not find me and start a new life.

“Okay, here is your name change receipt. Your new ID will take effect in a week.”

I had just finished it and when I turned around, I saw the news that Matt hypocritically said he loved me.

The reporter said excitedly, “Mrs. Walton must have saved the Milky Way in her previous life to be able to marry a good man like you.”

Matt's face was full of tenderness when he answered, “It must be because I saved the Milky Way in my previous life that I was able to marry such a good wife like Vilma.”

The audience also talked about it, “This man is rich and loyal, I envy that woman named Vilma Flynn so much.”

Listening to Matt's hypocritical words, I felt how ironic it was.

I once thought that I was the happiest woman in the world.

Matt and I were classmates in high school. During college, I accepted him when he confessed his love to me for the 99th time.

Chapter 3

At that time, he was holding flowers and kneeling in front of me in front of all the classmates.

“Vilma, this is the 99th time I confessed to you. If you still don't agree to be my girlfriend, then I'm ready for the 100th time.”

As a result, I accepted it with tears in my eyes and a happy face.

I withdrew my thoughts and touched the ring on my ring finger.

It was made for me by Matt himself and it had our own names engraved on it.

But then, it all seemed like a joke.

I went to the jewelry store and the clerk looked at me in confusion as he asked, “Miss, do you really want to melt this ring? The engraving on it seems to have a lot of meaning.”

While I was hesitating, Iva sent me a message, [Vilma, you lose. Mr. Walton and I did it seven times on the rooftop just now. He felt sorry for me and said he would make a pair of rings for me.]

I was so angry that my eyes turned red and with tears in my eyes, I said, “Yes, melt it for me, immediately.”

I returned home in a daze and Matt came out of the bathroom wrapped in a bath towel.

When he saw me, his eyes were full of worry. “Vilma, where have you been? You're back so late.”

As he said that, he came forward and wanted to hug me.

When I raised my eyes, I saw the glaring kiss marks on his neck, making the feeling of wanting to vomit come back.

I turned my body away, rejecting his hug.

Matt was very surprised, “Honey, what's wrong? Why are you so cold today?”

I tried my best to hide the sadness in my heart and looked at Matt steadily, “Matt, will you fall in love with another woman?”

Matt did not get angry but laughed. “Honey, I swear to heaven, if I ever do anything to let you down, let me be struck by lightning.”

I sneered, “You made such a cruel oath, aren't you afraid that it will come true one day?”

“How is that possible? You are the wife I married after I confessed to her 99 times. I will never betray you.”

At that moment, I did not want to listen to his hypocritical vows anymore.

Just as I was about to question him, I was interrupted by his question.

He picked up the gift box on the table with a look of surprise, “Honey, is this for me? Why are you giving me a gift all of a sudden?”

After he finished saying that, he was about to open it and I stepped forward to stop him.

“No, you have to wait a week before opening the gift. That way it will be a surprise.”

Because a week later, it was the day I left.

“Okay, I'll listen to you.”

Then he added, “Honey, you've been working hard lately. Let me give you a foot bath.”

Matt filled a basin with hot water and brought it to my feet.

“Honey, come here. I see you feel uncomfortable during the day. Soaking your feet will make you feel better.

“Honey, why are your hands and feet so cold? I'll make some soup for you to replenish your body.”

At that moment, I felt mixed emotions.

Matt, how could you love me and care about me while having an affair with another woman?

Why were you really like what you said to others, that there was no successful man who did not cheat?

Did I really that gullible in your eyes?

When I turned around, I saw strawberry marks all over his neck. I was so nauseated that I vomited and passed out.

At the hospital, the doctor warned, “The patient has been stimulated, which has caused gastrointestinal dysfunction. He needs to be hospitalized for a few days.”

Matt immediately apologized to me distressingly, “Honey, I'm sorry, it's all my fault that I was too busy with work during this period and didn't take good care of you.

“Don't worry, I will work from home for the next period of time and won't go anywhere.”

Before he could finish my words, Matt's phone rang again.

He kept hanging up and after the phone rang for the tenth time, he stood up and said, “Honey, it's a call from the company. It might be something urgent. I'm going out to answer it.”

Chapter 4

I knew in my heart that it was clearly Iva's call.

Not long after he left, Iva sent another message, [It must be hard to be abandoned. I just got a little scratched, but he was so anxious.]

Then came the accompanying picture showing Matt carefully disinfecting Iva.

It turned out that Iva also came to the hospital and Matt chose to leave me behind.

After the injection, I walked out of the ward. In another ward, I saw through the crack in the door two people kissing passionately inside.

My nose felt sore and the corners of my eyes were red.

How could they be so disgusting? That was a hospital, actually.

Iva saw me standing outside the door and she gave me a provocative look.

Then she kissed harder.

I wanted to kick the door open, beat the hell out of them and disappear forever.

But my upbringing and reason tell me that if a man who no longer loved you continued to be hysterical, it would only make you more embarrassed.

I clenched my fists and turned away.

After a while, Iva caught up.

She smiled proudly and showed me the report in her hand.

“Miss Flynn, you lose. I'm pregnant with Mr. Walton's child now. If you know what's best for you, get out of here.”

I was so angry that I laughed when I answered her, “Iva, when you came to me to demonstrate, does Matt know about this?

“Take it if you want it. I don't want it anyway. Isn't it a great honor to pick up trash that others don't want?”

As I finished speaking, I left immediately, leaving Iva standing there, shaking with anger.

Shortly after I returned to the ward, I received a call.

“Miss Flynn, your flight to Africa has been successfully issued.”

“Okay, is there anything else I need besides my passport?” I asked.

“No, just board the plane on time.”

I just hung up the phone when Matt walked in from outside.

He asked me in confusion, “Vilma, I just heard you talk about a passport. Are you going to travel alone?”

I did not want to let him know that I was leaving yet, for fear that he would keep pestering me. So, I made up an excuse, “No, a friend of mine lost her passport, so I asked for help.”

Matt was obviously relieved and said, “So that's how it is.

“I bought you your favorite chestnut cake and this necklace. I'm sure you like it.”

I was in the hospital at that time due to gastroenteritis, but he bought me such sweet things.

“You remembered it wrongly. I'm allergic to chestnuts.”

Matt 's face froze instantly and he said nervously, “I'm sorry, honey, I didn't think of it at the moment, I'll buy it for you later.

“Take a look at this necklace. Do you like it?”

He opened the exquisite gift box in a flattering manner and handed it to me.

As soon as I saw it, I immediately withdrew my extended hand.

I saw Iva wearing that necklace not long ago.

That was ridiculous. So, that time, I was only worthy of taking things that Iva did not want?

“What's wrong?” Matt asked in confusion when he saw that I didn't answer.

I frowned and said, “I don't feel well now and don't want to wear it.”

“Okay, wear it when you're discharged from the hospital.”

I did not nod nor reject it.

“Honey,” Matt hesitated to speak.

“If you have something to say, just say it,” I said.

He directly explained, “It is just that there's a problem with a project overseas, I need to deal with it now, it will take a week.”

“Work is important, go ahead.”

Matt smiled and hugged me. “Honey, thank you for always being so considerate.”

I sneered in my heart, ‘Yes, you took advantage of the fact that I liked you and had no scruples about keeping other women outside.’

After Matt left, I called my best friend and asked her to help me prepare the divorce agreement.

At night, Iva sent me another provocative message, [My husband took me to the Maldives to reward me for getting pregnant and he also ordered my favorite chestnut cake.]

It turned out that Matt's so-called business trip and busy work was just an excuse. The cake during the day also benefited from Iva’s help.

It did not matter, I had decided not to want him anymore, so he could never hurt me again.

I was discharged from the hospital early, returned home and burned all my documents and the things I had used.

Soon, the house that was originally full was half empty.
