Chapter 6
The sun cast its rays brightly on him, he slowly opened his eyes, following the beam of the light, and he immediately shut his eyes, yawning aloud, he was fully awake to notice another peaceful breathing, he turned his gaze to her, she was gracefully sleeping with the sunlight radiating her beauty the more, already lost in her beauty, he had to leave and it was not going to be good of she wakes up to meet him here.
Gently removing her grip from his waistline he quickly slides into his trousers and wears his shirt, grabbing his keys, he walked out of her world.
The sound from the bolting door, jolted her from her deep sleep, she turned to tighten her grip but the emptiness of the space, hugged her delicate hands, she quickly opened her eyes to see a space, the bed was still warm,
Meaning he had just left not quite long,
"Shit!! What the f...? She sprung up, tying the duvet around her chest, rushing to the door, but the face of the room service greeted her Instead,
"Good morning ma'am, this is room service and I'm here to clean up" the lady smiled, Sydney faked a smile,
"Uhmm... I won't be needing your services for now...? Did you see the young man I signed in with last night?" Her eyes grazed through for answers, as she clutched her duvet.
"Oh? He left not quite long." Confused the lady looked at her, wondering what relationship she had with the handsome duke that just left the premises.
Smiling through gritted teeth, "ok, I'll call when I need you" she banged the door closed before the lady could reply,
Images and flashbacks from the previous night clouded her reasoning,
"Make Love to me!" She heard her moaning and the intense thrust that all took place that night on the same bed she was staring at,
She didn't even get to know, who he was or where she could find him, and just like that, that was how she slept with a mysterious man only familiar with her memories but not physically familiar with them.
She walked into the bathroom, turned on the shower knob, and let the water wash her and keep her sane enough. Memories coming back, the shower sex to the bedroom sex, all in one memory,
"Snap out of it Sydney!" She cautioned herself out of frustration.
After a long shower she, put on her dress from last night, and like that she left the room, walking out of the room the bar was already empty and virtually everyone had left the clubhouse.
Flagging down a taxi, she decided to go home instead,
"Where to ma'am?" The driver almost in his forties asked,
"Bentley 24th street by yellow duke" she grunts resting her head almost drifting off to sleep before the drive began.

Author's POV
The home of the Whites, was merely quiet when the G- wagon jeep drove in, the maidservants and butler stood by the door to welcome their boss, Paxton stepped out of the air-conditioned car as the evening breeze caressed his face, he was exhausted from the day's work and all that was written on his delicate face was all tiredness.
Paxton's POV
"You're welcome, Young master." The butler grabbed his suitcase heading upstairs,
"Where's Jaxton? He didn't report to the office throughout today? Did he drop by here at the mansion?" My deep voice echoed, with authority and poise.
The butler looked at the maidservants the look didn't go unnoticed by me, for sure Jaxton had not returned from wherever he went to
"Where's he?" I requested again.
"He hadn't come home since last night, Young master" the butler replied with his face down, I sigh then turned to the chef,
"Get my dinner ready," I climbed the stairs heading to my room, unbuckling the first button of my suit.
Shortly, I came down after I had freshened up and dressed in my casuals, the dinner was ready,
I sat down to grab it when he walked in,
"Hey bro? I looked at him,
"Where have you been, Jaxton?" I asked,
"Not now ok" he smirked and walked upstairs, I sigh watching him go upstairs.
I turned to the butler,
"Find out where he went to, who knows he might have caused some trouble there."
The butler stood confused,
"Why Sir?
"To clean up his mess?" I answered and dismissed the butler.
The night was peaceful, I carefully did the work from the office before drifting off to sleep.
Two days later.............
Arrg! Arrgh!! Arrgh!!!
The alarm screamed jolting me up from my deep sleep, I angrily turned it off,
Yawning, it's been two days, and I've practically been useless these days since the event from the night at the clubhouse I looked forward to him coming every night to the clubhouse but he never came back, and just like that the mystery man was gone, the worst was I couldn't get that night out of head, I grabbed my phone from the bedside table after it beeped a notification had come in, I swiped down, my eyes popped open, I felt immense anger, the worst was that, the position of a marketer in various companies, all I applied for is yet to give me a feedback. I glance at the day of the eviction, I had less than 2 days to pay off,
The eviction notice again had come in the same way it did the previous week,
I looked out it was evening already, I stood up I was not in the mood to get stuck in here in misery, I grabbed my jacket, and walked out, in anger banging the door,
The clubhouse was still preparing to start for the night, so I went to the bar
"Two shots of vodka, please" I threw my bag on the counter
"Are you sure? The bartender noticed that I was not in anywhere near a good mood.
"Two shots!" I rolled my eyes, took one of the shots from him, and gulped it down my throat, the hotness from the drink nearly burnt my throat,
"Be careful." The bartender cooed, his eye I could see he wanted something, I handed him a tip, and drank a shot after, and in no time, my vision split and made me feel dizzy.
I grabbed my purse, with a bottle in my hands, coming down I missed a step and stumbled, as I balanced myself, I raised my gaze the figure walked in,
"Is he the one? I asked myself " "You're so dead, Sydney."
I looked up again to be sure he was the same person or it's the alcohol playing pranks on my eyes, and this time I was certain this was the face I never imagined I'd see again was standing before me in his glory, I smiled about to hug him in my sober state but what he did next startled me,
"Excuse me, Miss?" I know I was quite drunk but I was sane at the same time.
"You? Don't you remember me again? My heart shattered into a million pieces, why would I think he would remember me?
He walked past me, brushing his shoulders against me, causing me to fall,
He sat on the chair and ordered a drink,
"One please" I have had enough, if he was going to pretend to not know me then I might as well do something to make him sober of his actions.
CHAPTER 7
Author's POV
She stubbornly reassured herself he was the one and was just playing hard to get as she walked towards the point he took a seat.
She reached the spot and leaned on the table which had a bottle of whiskey on it, staring at him as he stared at his phone and didn't spare her a glance.
Without breaking her gaze, she walked and took a seat beside him, leaning on his shoulder as he stared at her confusingly, adjusting to the edge of the seat.
She moved closer to him, tugging onto his arm, snuggling closer to him.
"Get your hands of me, slut!!" He fired angrily.
The word "slut", resounded in her ears as she stared at him with disgust.
"Doesn't he remember me?, Why's he acting weird?" She asked herself and stubbornly clinged onto his arm again and he shook her arm off his.
She rose from the seat and glared daggers at him with disgust before emptying the content of the glass she held on him, turning around and storming away.
His gaze flew from his wet and stained jacket to her retreating figure as he couldn't find her amongst the crowd anymore, wondering why she acted so irrational and if he knew her from somewhere before.
"Alcohol isn't everyone's thing" he muttered before taking of his jacket angrily and storming out of the club, regretting why he came there in the first place.
Sydney picked her bag and exited the club through the staffs exit, as she couldn't decipher why he pretended not to recognize her after disappearing posterior to their unforgettable one night stand.
She boarded a taxi which took her to her apartment and after freshening up, she laid on her bed and couldn't catch an atom of sleep because of tiring thoughts so she decided to distract herself with her phone.
She remembered she activated the "do not disturb" mode, which obstructed her notifications and she deactivated the mode as notifications flooded her screen immediately.
She clicked on an email notification and it was from a company she applied for a job and it stated that she has been invited for an interview the next day.
She was super excited and immediately forgot about the incident that took place at the club.
She set an alarm for 5AM before sleeping off happily.
The next morning, the sound of the alarm woke her up as she stumbled out of bed and freshened up before settling on a formal outfit of a milk coloured sleeve and black palazzo pants.
She had breakfast and picked her pouch and a file containing her CV before heading out of her apartment.
She boarded a taxi and reached the company after an hour and twenty minutes. She paid the fare and walked towards the entrance of the building.
She met with the receptionist who showed her the HR department. She was given a seat while she awaited the manager. He arrived and she handed him her curriculum vitae which he took to his office.
He sent for her and commended her CV, before asking her about her previous work experience.
"Honestly sir, I am interested in an entry-level position, I know I have much to learn and I am looking for an opportunity to help me build a strong professional foundation" she stated, and he was impressed by her way of explaining the fact that she has no experience.
"So, are you trying to say you had no job or occupation before now?" He asked.
"Yes sir" she said dishonestly.
"Okay, you have the job, you can resume tommorow and take note of the fact that this company tolerates no form of immoral or indecent behaviour" he said to her and she was happy she didn't reveal anything about her previous job.
"Thank you so much sir, I'll do my best to make my presence in this company a factor to boost its productivity" she said and he nodded affirmatively with a smile as she collected her CV and stepped out of his office, joyously.
She returned to her apartment and happily made arrangements for her first day at work. She noticed a document amongst her CV and read through it.
The document contained information about her pay and the company's code of conduct. The pay was mouthwatering as she hopped excitedly around her apartment.
Nightfall arrived and she slept off with a gladened heart.
The next morning, she observed her morning ritual of having a warm bath and brushing her teeth before dressing up and wearing a very light make up as she packed her hair in a ponytail and wore wedges.
She stepped out of her apartment and happily boarded a taxi which transported her to the company's gate. She stepped down after paying the driver and walked towards the company's entrance.
The receptionist pointed the elevator which led to the last floor where her office was located. The elevator's entrance was about shutting when she stepped in and noticed someone else inside.
She elevated her gaze, and stared at the face, only to find out he was also gazing down at her. She recognized the face immediately and returned her gaze to the floor.
"Stripper from the club" he blurted out, chuckling annoyingly.
She panicked immediately, realizing that he recognized her.
"I'm doomed!" She said to herself inwardly.
The elevator came to a halt and he stepped out first. She ran after him and stood before him, obstructing his way and stared at him pleadingly.
"Please, no one must hear about this" she pleaded and he smirked mischievously.
"Please, name your price, just don't let anyone know about this" she blurted out hurriedly, afraid of losing a job she hasn't even started and he still didn't say anything.
"I'm begging you in the name of……." Her statement was cut short the moment she noticed a figure behind the man she was begging. She stared at the both of them in confusion and they gazed at her in return, one coldly and the other, mischievously.
"Who…" she started, only to pause midway when they both walked out on her, leaving her in her state of beffudlement.
She stared at their retreating figures and her legs wobbled.
Chapter 8
Still, in a confused state, the secretary called out to her,
"Miss shepherd? Come take your appointment letter" lost beyond measure, she managed to get herself a stand then walked towards the counter,
"You're quite lucky, it wasn't the CEO themselves who interviewed you. They're both quite picky and have different expectations when it comes to hiring a new member." The lady smiled, signed on the paper then gives her to put her signature.
"They're twins?" She inquired, the lady looked at her,
"Haven't you heard of the white brothers? They're the heirs of the White household and both have a share of the company too" her mouth widened agape.
"Don't tell me you've not heard of them before?" Her brows twitched, looking intently at Sydney,
"What? How am I possibly supposed to meet them?" She faked a small laugh before signing her name.
"See you." The lady walked out just before She realize she didn't get to know her name.
Walking out of the building, Paxton stood close to the window, watching her board a taxi,
"what was she doing here of all places?" He thought deeply, she looked quite sober than the other night, he could tell just by a single look, she was pretty.
"Paxton?" His voice startled him bringing him out of his thoughts,
"Have you by any chance met her before? Jaxton sat comfortably, he knew she must have by chance mistook him for Jaxton.
"Why would I? We have virtually nothing in common" he defended, then he recalled the weird moment he saw them both, in the elevator,
"You know her? What kind of girl is she?" Paxton knew the girls who often hang around his brother were all nothing but touts, was she one of his bedroom chicks? He frowned at the thought of this,
"Yes, I know her but not what you're thinking." He smirked, standing up, Paxton's eyes immediately followed him,
"Where are you going to? We have a meeting with the Taiwan investors?" Jaxton turned swiftly to him,
"You're good at this stuff, I am not." And with that, he walked out.
"That son of a ....." He held his breath, then took a deep breath. He turned his gaze to the window when she had successfully flagged down a taxi and was getting into it,
"What's your identity really, Sydney Shepherd?" He asked no one in particular watching the taxi driver out of the company driveway.
The door opened, Dana walked in,
"Sir, the Taiwan investors have arrived. And they are waiting for you in the conference room." Paxton sighs, his brother has yet again missed another potential meeting.
"Ok then, tell the human resources to gather all the files and head there, take this with you" he hands over the blue spiral bounded file to her,
"I'll then soon, give me a few minutes." He says she walks out closing the door behind him, and he falls his back to the chair, sighing.
Sydney walked into her apartment, the still and quiet aura hugged her, she throws her purse onto the small couch and walked to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
Opening the fridge, the water was not at all chill, she felt others but nothing, it was then she realized her electricity had been cut off from her apartment. She sighs removing her shoes, and slides into her flip-flop, entering her room, she removed her clothes and went to have her shower,
"Jaxton and Paxton? Dammn! You're screwed, Sydney?" She ran her hands through her head.
Coming out of the bathroom, it then occurred to her that she could search them up on social media, sitting on her bed in the flora-designed nightgown, she rammed through the internet, another world that seems to know everyone,
"There it is!" She clicked on a blog and read within herself,
" Paxton and his younger twin brother, Paxton had agreed to run their company together as co-CEOs after their father passed away and handed it to them but it was Paxton who took care of most of the office business while Jaxton usually traveled around for business but had fun while he was at it." She gasped,
"They're so identical to tell them apart, how do I know?" She sighs, searching all night made her quite sleepy, and soon the darkness hovered over her.
Next morning.........
She stood at the front door taking deep breaths, she walked in approached the counter,
"Hey there, you're quite early, very impressive" the lady smiled,
"Yes, sorry didn't get to know your name," returning the smile Sydney asked.
"Dana Adams. But you can call me Dana." Dana beamed.
"So where's the marketing department? " Looking around, the front door opened and both CEOs walked in, the room though silent, the squealing from other females could be heard, and their dazzling walking step as a duo made them more attractive, Paxton's gaze jammed with hers, and she immediately broke off the contact, she swiftly turned to Miss Dana
"I'll locate the Marketing department" she rushed to the elevator, as soon as she sensed them approaching Dana's table. Inside the elevator, she heaved a deep sigh of relief.
The elevator immediately opened, she walked out, marveled at how pretty the building looked upstairs,
"Excuse me!" in split seconds she was out of the way of the guy carrying a box filled with files, he turned to her,
"Are you Sydney Shepherd?"
"Yes sir," wondering how he got to her name,
He laughs," your resume was submitted to me yesterday," he dropped the box on the table behind her,
"Follow me," she Instantly followed him,
"This is your table, that's your ID which you must have on at all times, there's a penalty that comes with it when you don't have it on. But first, am your supervisor, James."
"Good morning Mr. James" she squeal, he was quite friendly to be her supervisor,
"Take this, and photocopy it, after you're done, meet me in my office. Chop chop!" He claps,
"This early?" She grunts, he turned his eyes to her, and she smiles,
"On it!" Walking back to the elevator, as soon as the elevator opens, about to walk out when her head bumped into someone's hard chest, causing her to lose her balance, but caught before her butt met with the ground, closing her eyes tight, she slowly opened them to meet the charming eyes, she could head heels over,
"Sir Jax-Paxton?" Words messed up in her head,
"What's all this?" Her subconscious screamed.
