Chapter 2

After leaving the private room, I couldn't hold back any longer and squatted down on the ground.

The waves of pain coming from my stomach robbed me of the strength even to get to the bathroom.

Until a shadow cast over my head.

A familiar voice sounded:

"What, feeling heartbroken, wanting to rekindle old flames?"

I raised my head and saw Nolan Harrington not far away, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed, looking at me indifferently.

He was dressed entirely in black, with a high nose bridge and eyes hidden in the dim lighting, his emotions unreadable.

Under the light, his thin lips had clean, elegant lines.

At that moment, a sense of unjust grievance rose in my heart.

Tears involuntarily started to fall.

Nolan Harrington immediately panicked, quickly uncrossed his arms, and hurried toward me.

"Don't cry, I won't say that again."

He had a good figure, strong and capable.

With one arm, he lifted me up from the ground.

The scent of cedar filled my nose, tugging at my heartstrings.

I naturally wrapped my arms around his neck and said:

"My stomach hurts."

Nolan Harrington paused slightly: "Did it come early?"

I nodded, my lips unintentionally brushing his chin as my head rested on his broad shoulder.

Nolan Harrington carried me to the car, turned on the heater, and said:

"Wait in the car. I'll go buy something for you."

After saying that, he closed the car door and turned away.

The yellowish streetlamp poured down, outlining his tall, straight figure.

Not long after, a video call popped up.

It was Nolan Harrington.

"They're out of your usual brand. Do you see any others you like?"

Just as I was about to choose, a familiar voice filled with surprise came through the video.

Oscar Sterling walked into the store with the young girl in his arms, sized up Nolan Harrington, and exclaimed in astonishment:

"We invited you out for drinks tonight and you refused. Turns out you were here buying stuff for a woman!

Are you video-chatting with her? Let me see who exactly managed to enlighfifteen our Mr. Harrington!"

Oscar Sterling stepped forward, wanting to grab Nolan Harrington's phone.

I subconsciously moved my face away from the camera.

But Oscar Sterling didn't touch Nolan Harrington's phone.

Nolan Harrington merely glanced at him lightly, and Oscar Sterling withdrew his hand.

"Alright, alright, since you're guarding her so closely. Next time, remember to bring her out and let us meet her!

By the way, Nolan, I met Lucille today.

She walked into the wrong room and saw me kissing another woman.

Scared me to death. Luckily, my other friends improvised and said I'd lost my memory. I'll prefifteend a bit longer, then 'recover' my memory later.

Of course, Nolan, you really helped me out.

I wasn't done having fun back then. It was thanks to your idea of faking my death-it worked perfectly!"

The phone screen shook slightly.

The next moment, the call was disconnected on my side.

Chapter 3

Nolan Harrington returned fifteen minutes later.

He didn't dare to look at me; after handing me what he'd bought, he quickly took the driver's seat and locked the car doors.

"I had someone deliver hot coffee to the house. Do you.want to drink it at home?"

Nolan Harrington's voice carried a cautious tone,

which I found somewhat amusing.

Nolan Harrington was famously known as a wealthy heir in Shangjing.

He was also Oscar Sterling's best friend.

Whenever I previously went out to eat with Oscar Sterling, Nolan Harrington would always be present.

At that time, he was cold towards me.

Especially when people around us teased Oscar and me to show affection, Nolan wouldn't even spare a glance.

Sometimes, he'd even mockingly scorn me.

So much so that everyone in our circle believed he disliked me.

It wasn't until later, on the day Oscar Sterling supposedly died in the car accident, that I received a video.

A video sent by Nolan Harrington.

In the video, Oscar Sterling smiled and said to someone:

"I can't accept having only Lucille as my woman after marriage.

I'll fake my death and enjoy myself for a few more years. You guys comfort her well, don't let her take it too hard."

But I didn't expect this fake death idea to also be Nolan Harrington's.

This man was rather cunning.

When we arrived at Nolan Harrington's villa, the moment my feet touched the ground, Nolan Harrington lifted me horizontally in his arms.

After going to the bathroom, Nolan Harrington placed me on the bed and handed me his phone to play games.

After drinking the hot beverage, he skillfully took off his clothes, lay beside me, and gently rubbed my belly.

The overhead lights, like a thin veil, softly draped across his abdominal muscles; each line seemed to tell an unknown story, tempting me to explore.

That's exactly what I thought, and that's exactly what I did.

Nolan Harrington's eyes darkened as he held down my restless hands.

"Behave yourself."

I didn't listen.

He grabbed the back of my head and pressed me down directly.

Three years were enough time for him to become thoroughly familiar with my body.

At the peak of passion, he grasped my hand,

his voice hoarse as he said:

"Help me-"

I'd known Nolan Harrington's endurance since the night I drunkenly slept with him long ago.

Only when my wrist had become unbearably sore did he finally finish.

Just as he was about to carry me to the bathroom to clean up, the phone beside the bed rang.

It was Nolan Harrington's phone.

I accidentally pressed against it, answering the call.

"Nolan, I'm planning an engagement party with Sylvie Lockhart to provoke Lucille. What do you think of this idea?

When Lucille saw me alive, she didn't even care enough to ask about my health. Instead, she's just jealous and upset, not even contacting me until now.

It seems after Three years apart, she's become bold.

I need to torment her a bit, let her experience the pain of losing me again. I have a plan; when the time comes, you."

Oscar Sterling's voice came through the phone.

But before he finished, he abruptly stopped.

Because I couldn't help letting out a startled gasp.

Not because of Oscar Sterling's words, but because something had awakened again-

and it even moved a few times in my hand.

Chapter 4

I glared at Nolan Harrington in both anger and embarrassment.

Oscar Sterling's voice continued from the phone, his tone full of surprise:

"Wow, Nolan! What are you up to right now, got a woman beside you? Tell me, is it the one you video-called today?"

After Three years apart, and since I'd only let out a single sound,

Oscar Sterling didn't recognize me right away-after all, too many women had surrounded him over the years.

Nolan Harrington clearly had no intention of replying to Oscar.

His eyes remained fixed on me, filled with hidden emotion.

I shot him a furious glare and wriggled out of his arms, crawling toward the other side of the bed.

But before I could get far, he grabbed my ankle and pulled me back.

Oscar Sterling kept talking:

"Come on, bro! You've got to show us who she is. I can't believe you finally found someone-Mr. Ice-Block finally blooming! Now that you're taken, I guess I can't introduce you to girls anymore, huh?

Oh right, I was going to ask you to invite Lucille to my engagement party. But then I remembered-you've always disliked her."

Before he could finish, Nolan Harrington impatiently hung up the call.

He tossed the phone back on the bed and scooped me up with one arm, carrying me into the bathroom.

When we came out again, three hours had passed.

Nolan Harrington wore a satisfied expression. I shot him another glare and lay on the bed, ignoring him.

I picked up my own phone and glanced at it. A message had come in.

It was from one of Oscar Sterling's friends.

Three years ago, Oscar had brought me into all of his circles.

[Lucille, Oscar is getting engaged to someone else, the ceremony is in seven days! Please go talk to him! I don't want him to regret it once he gets his memory back! This isn't what he really wants!]

I read the message, then deleted it and tossed the phone aside.

I wasn't someone who went out of my way to create drama.

Oscar Sterling's engagement had nothing to do with me.

Nolan Harrington reached out, wanting to pull me into his arms. I glared at him and quickly moved away.

I had no interest in going through another three or four hours of that again!

News of Oscar Sterling being alive-and planning an engagement-quickly spread.

Many friends came asking me about it.

Some showed sympathy, some cursed Oscar for being a scumbag, and others just came to enjoy the drama.

My college roommate, Zara Lockhart, called me, angrily scolding Oscar.

"When I first heard Oscar Sterling was still alive, I was so happy for you! But then I hear he's getting engaged to someone else?! That's too much!

Losing his memory gives him the right to betray you? You were his fiancée! Did no one remind him?

No way-I'm not letting my bestie get treated like this! I'm going to find out where he's holding the engagement party and crash it for you!"

I chuckled.

"Even marriages end in divorce. Engagements can be canceled, too. My relationship with him ended Three years ago. Whatever he does now, it has nothing to do with me."

Zara Lockhart still sounded indignant: "I just can't swallow this! You waited for him for Three whole years! I watched you stay single the entire time!"

I was eating a cookie and nearly choked.

Who waited for him Three years?
