"Only you would treat a guy like Norman as a treasure."
Lina has always been straightforward in her speech.
"In my eyes, he's not even worth as much as crap."
Several of my close friends chimed in, agreeing with Lina.
"Yuna is just infatuated; sometimes women are like that. When they get captivated by a certain guy, their whole world gets filled up, leaving no room for anyone else."
I silently added in my mind that once you see someone for who they truly are, you can also walk away without hesitation.
At least that's how I feel.
As we were chatting, the gazes of my friends suddenly became fixated.
I was puzzled about what had caught their attention when a figure approached us.
I lifted my head slightly and locked eyes with the person.
It was Kane Lewis.
I felt a bit dazed; wasn't he supposed to be settled in the UK? How did he come back?
I hadn't seen him in about ten years, and I wasn't sure I would even recognize him now.
He was wearing a sharp business suit, with a model-like physique and long, straight legs.
Wow, the moment I saw him, I realized how blind I had been all these years, mistaking Norman for a handsome guy.
Kane is three years younger than me; when he left, he was only in the second year of junior high.
When I went to see him off, he looked at me with determination and said, "One day, I will come back to find you."
Unconsciously, I recalled our youthful past and felt a slight blush creeping onto my cheeks.
Kane stopped in front of me and tilted his head, looking at me.
"Yuna, may I sit next to you?"
After the party ended, Kane drove me back to my place.
During the ride, my best friend Lina kept texting me.
"Yuna, seize the moment and go for this handsome guy!"
I rolled my eyes and texted her back.
"Come on, he's taken over the family business and is now the president of a billion-dollar publicly traded company. There's no way he'd be interested in me."
Lina pressed on, "Just say you're inexperienced. The way he looked at you during dinner was like he wanted to devour you. I study psychology, trust me on this."
I texted back, "Stop talking nonsense!"
Lina responded dismissively, "What nonsense? Why should Norman get to find other women behind your back? Are you really going to stay loyal to him forever?"
"After being with this jerk for seven years, don't you think that's a loss? Don't you want to treat yourself better?"
Her words felt like they had opened a can of worms, stirring up all my doubts and thoughts.
Just as I was about to reply, the car slowly came to a stop at the hotel entrance.
I thanked him, saying, "I really appreciate you driving me home so late."
Kane looked at me with a charming smile, making my heart race.
"Yuna, I told you I'd come back to find you. Did you forget?"
I definitely hadn't forgotten; I just couldn't believe it.
Those were just the naive words of a young person back then—could they really be taken seriously?
Well, I took your words seriously then.
"Kane, could you come up and sit with me for a bit?"
"I was just thinking the same thing!"
I wasn't sure if it was the drinks, but Kane looked so handsome that I felt a little dizzy.
Once we were in the room, Kane kissed me right away.
I didn't pull back because I wanted this too.
When we were young, we always met someone who left an unforgettable mark on our hearts.
For me, that person had been Norman, but unexpectedly, I found out I was also someone else's unforgettable mark.
And that someone turned out to be an incredible guy like Kane.
I was completely overwhelmed, so I decided to go all in.
I did my best to keep up with him.
A few minutes later, we were just looking at each other.
It had been so long since I had seen love in a man's eyes, and that day, I finally felt fulfilled.
Kane seemed a bit shy.
"I just took over the company's affairs recently, and I was feeling a bit worn out..."
I laughed softly and touched his cheek.
"You must have had a lot of women, right?"
I just wanted to clarify what that night meant.
But Kane got a little flustered.
"Yuna, I wasn't what you thought; I had never been with anyone before..."
