Chapter 1

As Mom and Dad arrive at the company to hand it over to their biological son, Nick Yeager, I throw myself off the 30th floor.

Blood splatters everywhere, and the crowd scatters in panic. Mom and Dad also scream in horror at the sight.

But the moment they realize the dead person is me, the fear drains from their faces, replaced by nothing but disgust.

"Back then, we brought home the wrong baby, so Nathan got to enjoy 20 years of wealth and privilege for nothing. Instead of being grateful to us for raising him, he kept making things hard for Nick after we acknowledged him and brought him home. And now he's killed himself at the office? What an ungrateful bastard!"

The onlookers curse at me for having no conscience, saying that even in death, I won't let the Yeager family have a moment's peace.

But in the end, no one expects Dad, who despises me more than anyone else, to hold my urn in his arms and beg me to come back with tears streaming down his face.

Someone suddenly pointed with a trembling hand at the large screen on the company building and shrieked, "Look! I think that's Nathan's final video before his death!"

Hearing that, Dad scowled and turned to the screen, where a video was playing. Disgust was written all over his face.

"Nathan's already dead, and he's still trying to cause trouble?"

The crowd was watching the scene unfold and didn't care how ugly things could get.

"Even after Mr. and Mrs. Yeager reunited with their biological son, they never once mistreated their adoptive son, Nathan Yeager. They treated him the same as before."

"No one expected him to be this jealous. Since childhood, Nick had been wandering around out there with a heart condition and couldn't handle any stress in the first place.

"But Nathan kept picking on Nick every day. No wonder Mr. and Mrs. Yeager grew to hate Nathan more and more."

"Two months ago, Nathan announced that he was cutting ties with his parents, and they've even signed an agreement to do so. Why did he kill himself just two months later?"

The crowd was about to say more, but the video playing on the screen gradually drew their attention, and they instinctively fell silent.

In the video, I was wearing a thin shirt and smiling mockingly.

"Mom. Dad. Surprise! Today's the day Nick's taking over the company, isn't it? I thought I'd do my part and help contribute to this joyous occasion.

"I told you before, didn't I? Nick is nothing but bad luck. The moment he came back, our company almost went bankrupt.

"He's really ill too, and it's been bringing the whole family down. Yet you still treat this jinx like he's everything."

I was deathly pale. From time to time, I would start coughing, yet every word I said hit Mom and Dad like a blow. In the video, I stared into the camera and suddenly smiled.

On the day I signed the agreement severing ties with Mom and Dad, a competitor had filed a malicious report against our company, putting us at risk of bankruptcy.

Dad usually seemed so strong, but that day, he seemed to completely break under pressure.

"You should just ask that jinx to jump off the building too. Since he can't find a suitable heart donor, he's going to die sooner or later.

"He might as well end it early and put a stop to his pain. That way, he wouldn't have to trouble anyone else."

In the video, I laughed cruelly, the mockery plain in my eyes. After I laughed several times, the video ended abruptly.

The onlookers immediately erupted into discussion.

"Is Nathan nuts? I heard the Yeagers had spoiled him rotten and that he was really domineering, but did he have to push things so far? Did he actually take his own life just to make a point?"

"What an ungrateful bastard! The Yeagers raised him for 20 years. He was just an imposter who took someone else's place. Why is he acting so arrogantly? I'm glad he's dead!"

"I heard they've already found a matching heart for Nick, and Nathan just died, too. I bet Nathan didn't expect Nick to get a matching heart so soon!"

Nick stood next to Dad in the middle of the crowd. At the moment, Nick's face was drained of color, and he clutched his chest, gasping for air.

At that, Mom's expression tightened, and she quickly led him into the car. They then immediately sped off to the hospital.

The crowd started voicing their anger.

"If you ask me, Nathan did this on purpose! He knew Nick had a heart condition and couldn't handle any stress, but he chose to kill himself at this very moment.

"That's bound to leave Nick deeply traumatized. How could Nathan be so cruel?"

"All these years, the Yeagers have spoiled Nathan rotten. Forget that he was an ungrateful bastard—even in death, why did he have to leave behind such a huge mess? Yeager Corporation is already facing trouble, yet he chose to cause chaos at this critical moment. He's better off dead!"

Everyone was defending the Yeagers, accusing me of being an ungrateful bastard.

Dad stood alone in the middle of the crowd, glaring at the darkened screen with utter disgust.

"I was so blind back then. How could I not see that this ungrateful bastard wasn't my son?"

Before Dad could finish speaking, his voice suddenly caught in his throat, his gaze fixed on the large screen.

Just then, the second video started playing. My voice, dripping with malice, rang out for all the onlookers to hear.

"What's the point of this jinx staying alive? He should just die early and be done with it. You've already missed out on 20 years together.

"You could just pretend you never had a son like him. Isn't having me enough? As long as I'm alive, Nick will never get a heart transplant!"

Chapter 2

In the video, Mom slapped me, sending my head to one side. My cheek instantly swelled, and some color returned to my previously pale face.

When Nick was brought home back then, Mom and Dad found out he had a heart condition, so they were prepared to drain the entire family fortune to get him a heart transplant.

When I found out what they were up to, I did everything I could to stop them.

"Mom, I've been your son for the past 20 years. If you spend all your money on his surgery, how am I supposed to live comfortably in the future?" I shrieked at the top of my lungs, knocking everything off the table onto the floor.

I looked at Dad, but he kept Nick behind him, comforting him softly. He didn't even look at me.

That day, I left home and signed the agreement to cut ties with Mom and Dad. No one noticed that my retreating figure trembled slightly as I walked away in the video or that I was much thinner than before.

The scene shifted to me arriving at a press conference Dad had organized. The reporters shoved their microphones in his face, firing one sharp question after another.

I was wrapped up completely, standing quietly in a corner as I looked at Dad.

At that time, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Dad had always cared about his appearance, but he no longer looked as polished as he usually did.

Perhaps Dad sensed that I was there, and he turned to look at me through the sea of reporters.

I quickly lowered my head and disappeared into the crowd, my heart racing violently. Before I could even calm down, I felt a warm hand grab my wrist.

"I thought you already severed ties with me. Why did you come looking for me?"

Dad furrowed his brow. When he saw me, the exhaustion on his face seemed to ease slightly. As he took a closer look at me, he froze slightly in shock.

After all, I looked absolutely terrible at that time. My hair had thinned a lot. If it weren't for my oversized hat, others would have noticed my balding crown.

I quickly pulled the brim of my hat down and slapped Dad's hand away, my voice rising without meaning to.

"I'm here for your money, of course! Your company's going under soon. Why shouldn't I take the chance to squeeze you dry?" I let out a vicious laugh on purpose.

My gaze swept past Dad and fell on Nick, who was rushing toward him from behind.

"I already told you this guy is a jinx. You shouldn't have brought him back. And now you know I'm right."

At my words, the last flicker of hope on Dad's face faded away, replaced with utter disgust and disappointment.

"All these years, I really raised you for nothing. As expected, you're not my biological son. No matter what I do, you'll always be an ungrateful bastard. Compared to my actual son, Nick, you're worlds apart!"

Dad's words made me feel like I was being ripped apart alive. My heart ached, but I gave nothing away.

Nick ran over and held Dad's hand. "Dad, why did you rush off stage without saying a word? The reporters are now picking apart every mistake you made…"

Hearing that, Dad took a deep breath and stepped away from me, his gaze on me as cold as ice.

"All those 20 years I spent raising you were for nothing. Nathan, you're so ungrateful. You'll get what's coming to you soon!"

With that, Dad turned and walked away without looking back at me. Nick held onto Dad's arm and walked beside him, just like I used to do before.

I let out a bitter laugh and lowered my head, my vision growing blurry. Then I looked in the direction Dad walked off in and muttered to myself. "Dad, I already got what was coming to me."

The second video ended there.

While the video was playing, the crowd had fallen silent. Now that it was over, they started condemning me even louder.

"How could Nathan be so vicious? Forget that he tried to stop Nick from getting his surgery just so he could live comfortably. He even showed up to mock his father when he was at his lowest point in life. Even after 20 years, Nathan felt nothing at all? He's so heartless!"

"Did you guys notice he looked unwell? In several parts of the video, he seemed even paler than before. His eyes were so sunken too. Anyone would think he could drop dead at any second."

"He probably just put on some makeup to make himself look sick and gain sympathy. It's not like he's never done this before. He kept acting weaker and weaker just to compete with Nick for their parents' love. In reality? No one even cared."

The crowd sneered at my body after it fell from the top of the building. There wasn't a hint of pity in their eyes.

Even Dad seemed indifferent to everything. After watching the scenes of us from the past, all he felt was disgust. He probably despised me to the core.

With a bitter smile, I looked at my body, now unrecognizable after the fall.

By then, the police had already secured the scene.

A forensic examiner stepped forward to examine my body, his expression grave. As soon as he looked at me, he suddenly gasped. "The deceased has no heart!"

At those words, the third video began playing on the large screen.
