Chapter 2

Isabel Morgan

"He knows my roll number." For the tenth time that day, I stated it. I had a smile on my lips that had been there since the morning, and my head was resting on Abby's shoulder.

The four of us were sitting at a table enjoying our dinner.

"Cease! Margot remarked, "It's just a roll number."

Abby halted her and began, "No. That is not the point. He is aware of her roll number, which indicates that he either watches her or has tracked her. You can't recall everyone in our class because there are about 80 of us and the roll numbers are complicated.

Del stated, "Yeah, so that means there is still hope."

I gave a joyful nod.

I acted as though I was content and that there was still hope. I understood, however, that there was no hope.

He would have replied to my texts appropriately if he truly liked me, but instead, he acts as though I'm pressuring him.

"I forgot to tell you guys, on my way back from the library, I saw Reign." Del looked at Margot as he said.

Margot has a thing for Reign. Every day after class, she waits for him to catch a glimpse.

"Really!?"

"Yep, and he wore a black tee."

He looks fantastic in a black t-shirt, which is what she finds most attractive about him.

"Why didn't you call me?"

I rolled my eyes. "Lady, your love has driven you insane. Are you aware of how far our hostel is from the library?

"I can do anything for him."

"Anything?" Abby inquired.

"Yeah, of course." "Text him then."

"Are you crazy?" Taking her phone away from Abby, she nearly yelled.

I looked at Abby, and we both shook our heads.

We continued our supper conversations.

"Tell me what's wrong?" As soon as we were in the room, Del started talking.

"Nothing." I shook my head.

"He is noticing you, that's a good sign, yet you look lost."

"I know he won't, and he isn't moving at all. I could only get him to notice me after three months. There are now only three months remaining before the semester ends. I'll be in one region and he'll be in another."

"He's at least taking notice of you. Baby steps. "I said," she said.

I hugged her while sitting on her bed and said, "That's the problem, I don't have time."

"What did you feel today, sitting beside him?"

"Apprehensive. My tummy was churning with butterflies. My face was simply blazing.

She grinned.

I inhaled deeply. "He smells good, by the way."

"Oh, does he?"

I gave a nod.

"But Cheeks, smells like sweat."

She chuckled.

We have decided to call Brody Cheeks. We all joined Abby in calling him that, and I'm not sure why.

"He needs to bathe."

"I agree."

"Tell me about you, what's going on with Shane?" Her lover, Shane, is ten years her senior. I think it's kind of sexy. Dating an older man, you know. The same tale. "He doesn't call." "Some days ago, he did call you, didn't he?"

"It's a long way, bro. He simply isn't ready to comprehend that I have insecurities. He doesn't give me any time at all, even though we are in a long-distance relationship; that is unfair."

She met Shane on Instagram, by the way. He texted her during one of her weakest moments, and she became attracted to him as they began to converse. And during the first week of college, they both started dating.

It's becoming messy now.

"I understand that he has a job and all, but sometimes it makes me doubt him."

Why question him? He has a hectic work, and you don't want to talk on the phone all the time if you're stressed out when you get home."

However, he spends every day with his pals. Is that reasonable? Despite being his girlfriend, I don't believe I'm even on his list of priorities.

"What is meant by that? You do, of course.

"No. That is the issue. She went on to say that she had doubts about him because she believes he is avoiding her. After all, he likes another girl.

I attempted to persuade her, but she already had everything planned out.

The following day, we were seated in our regular seats once more, and the instructor started informing us about the upcoming music concert at our institution.

Mrs. Robinson began, "The largest music event, Symphony Shindig, is being held at our campus as usual. Numerous colleges will participate, and certain bands selected from our campus will also compete."

Then she stepped aside to present us with the "Symphony Shindig" teaser.

When it was over, "I want a duo performance from this section for the opening ceremony."

Mrs. Robinson ignored the half of the class that raised their hands and pulled out her diary.

"Sebastian Briggs?" She gave a call.

Sebastian straightened his posture and got up from his chair, placing both hands in front of him.

"Gosh! Take a look at that ass. I heard Abby whispering.

I could immediately see his ass because he was wearing grey sweatpants, which made it stand out.

I responded, "What do you think I am staring at?" "Pervert." She remarked.

I lightly struck her arm. "Why the hell are you staring at his ass? Don't you have a boyfriend?"

"Quiet, please." Mrs. Robinson gave a reprimand. I sat up upright.

"Mr. Briggs, your band has been selected?" Sebastian was asked.

Yes. Sebastian is the lead guitarist and singer in a band.

Alongside Sebastian, Stanley plays drums, Brody plays guitar, and Ashton is the lead vocalist.

Sebastian gave a nod.

"I want you guys in the music room." She gave an order.

"Yes, Mrs. Robinson."

"You can sit." He took a seat.

"Miss Morgan."

As soon as my eyes grew big, I got up from my chair.

Now, what did I do?

I said, "Yes, Mrs. Robinson?"

"I would like to talk to you." You? Why?

I haven't taken any action.

"Me?" Uncertain if she was referring to the right Miss Morgan, I queried.

"Yes, you, Ms. Morgan. After class, in the music room."

I gave a nod. "Okay." I reclined in my chair.

What was it I did?

"What was that?" Del inquired.

I said with a shrug, "I don't know."

"Are you gonna sing in the opening ceremony?" She inquired.

"Are you insane?" I shook my head. I don't know anything about singing, and I haven't tried out for any auditions."

"Then why is she calling you?"

"Maybe she's misunderstanding me with some other Ms. Morgan."

"Yes. I do not doubt that. "Margot said."

I approached her after class to let her know that she was misinterpreting me.

"Mrs. Robinson!" As she was leaving, I called. She paused and pivoted. I sprinted over to her.

"I believe there is a misunderstanding, Mrs. Robinson. I am being mistaken for someone else by you. I haven't tried out for any contests. I made an effort to clear away.

"You are Isabel Morgan?" She repeated her question.

I gave a nod. "Yes, I am her."

"Then there's no confusion."

"But I haven't auditioned."

"I know your mother, she used to teach music, right?"

I gave a nod. "Yes, she did, but how a-"

"She was my friend in high school. I loved her voice. I want to hear you."

"Me? I'm not very good at singing. I answered.

"I have the last say on that. I'd like to hear you perform. "You have thirty minutes to prepare yourself," she remarked, glancing at her watch.

What the fuck?

As she turned to go, I said, "I don't want to do this."

"Why?" Because I'm afraid of the audience that will be watching me speak.

"I am not a good singer."

"Do you want me to give your mother a call?"

I immediately shook my head.

I'll be killed by that woman! Because she doesn't recall any relationships when it's music. Not even her daughter.

"All right. Ms. Morgan, thirty minutes." She then departed.

Having to go to the music room, I hurried to my pals and ordered them to leave.

Which song ought I to perform?

This is really challenging.

I haven't performed professionally in years. I'm merely a bathroom singer now.

It took me ten minutes out of my thirty minutes to choose the tune I would sing.

I practiced the song for twenty minutes while wearing my earphones.

When I tell my mother that I will be singing at a major campus event, I want to see the joy on her face.

She will be quite pleased with me.

It was 11:30 a.m. when I looked at the time. Fuck! It's already 11:30! By now, I ought to have arrived at the music room.

I sprinted as quickly as I could. However, I had no idea how to go to the music room. I tried to follow the instructions, but they were really unclear. The guard I asked gave me directions that ended in a dead end. No students were present to inquire. This block was incredibly deserted.

I was breathing heavily and losing hope when I heard some noises that sounded like laughter.

The noises were my only hope, so I followed them. Sebastian, Stanley, Ashton, and Brody owned it. They were moving in my direction.

"Can you tell me where the music room is?" I hurried over to them.

Asking this question required a lot of bravery on my part. Why? Because Sebastian was a member of the group, and I had greatly disgraced myself.

I followed Brody to the music room.

"Thanks a lot." I hurried to the music room after thanking him.

I knocked on the door and went into the room, where Mrs. Robinson was sitting by herself.

"I was waiting for you." When she spotted me, she said.

"I was just a bit lost."

"Come in."

I stepped inside and faced her.

"What am I gonna hear from you?"

"There's a song by Olivia Rodrigo... Brutal."

"Oh. That song appeals to me. I'd be thrilled to hear that.

The person I least expected came in when there was another knock on the door.

Briggs, Sebastian.

No!

In front of him, I can't sing. I am unable to.

He's too much.

"You mean Sebastian? For what purpose are you here? Mrs. Robinson inquired.

"I left my guitar capo." That was what he was looking for.

"C'mon, begin." She informed me.

No. Please, not in front of him.

After finding what he was looking for, Sebastian was about to leave when Mrs. Robinson intervened. "Sebastian, I need to talk to you."

"I'll call everyone then." "Oh," he said.

"No," she said. Not them. You sing and you play the guitar, correct?

He gave a nod.

"Take a seat."

Sebastian sat down next to her, staring at me.

No!

I'm not a singer.

I am unable to.

It's okay, I can handle it, she chuckles.

But I can't stand it when he laughs at me. I am unable to.

I was having trouble starting.

You're capable! Viv, I have faith in you!

"Begin." She repeated herself.

With trepidation, I nodded.

His eyes were on me and mine on him for a few seconds.

Then he added, "Mrs. Robinson, I'll be outside," rising from the stool he was perched on. I need to call someone. It will require ten minutes.

"Okay, be back soon."

He simply walked away.

I let out a sigh of relief.

"Begin, Ms. Morgan."

I started singing after nodding.

Alright, I wasn't flawless, but I don't believe it was that horrible.

I performed fairly well.

"I won't say you are a great singer, but you can improve." She remarked.

I smiled lightly at her.

"I believe you're capable. In 3 weeks, Symphony Shindig will take place. By the end of this week, I would like to hear from you.

I gave a nod.

"And you'll be performing in the opening ceremony."

Although I wasn't expecting this, I was glad to hear it-not for me, but because I knew my mother would be pleased.

I'm eager to inform her.

Chapter 3

Isabel Morgan

After thanking her, I turned to go when Sebastian came in. I was asked to stay. Sebastian sat next to me on one of the stools, and I sat on the one in front of her.

"Mr. Briggs, your band will be competing in the Symphony Shindig." She inquired.

He gave one nod.

"I want another performance from your side."

"Another performance?"

"Yes."

"Is it for the competition or-"

He started to say something, but she interrupted him. "Not the competition, I want it at the opening ceremony."

No.

I can see where this is headed. And it's not good at all.

Please don't do the duo thing.

I said a mental prayer.

"Okay, we'll prepare a song and present it to you whenever you say," Sebastian answered.

She wants us to perform, sweetie. Not you and your band. "Not with your band, Mr. Briggs." She wants you and me to perform.

Sebastian's brows knitted this time, unable to comprehend her meaning. "Pardon?"

"I want you and Ms. Morgan to perform on the opening night."

Sebastian didn't say anything, just stared at her.

His gaze gradually shifted from her to me, pausing for a few minutes. I assume he was mentally condemning me because... I am hated by Sebastian Briggs. Then he turned to face her again.

"You want me to perform without my band?" He inquired once again for an explanation.

She nodded. "Ashton and Stanley will be performing on the closing night, so I want a favour from you."

"Can they join us in the end?" Sebastian recommended.

"What are you trying to say?"

"She and I will play as a pair, and my band may join us when we finish. In that manner, don't you think it will be enjoyable?

"That seems like a decent one to me. I concur. "Ms. Morgan, do you have any problem with that?" she asked, turning to face me.

Shaking my head, I said, "Of course not."

"Good then, let's do it that way." "Also, I want the songs you're gonna perform within two days," she said, glancing between us.

My eyes got big.

Two days?

Only forty-eight hours?

Just 2880 minutes?

In other words, 172800 seconds. No fuck.

I need more than 172800 seconds to feel at ease with him. Actually, I still can't forget the awkward conversations I had with him after a year.

"Will do that, Mrs. Robinson," Sebastian answered.

Mrs. Robinson got up and walked out of the room. I just sat there waiting for him to say something or make a decision regarding the song. Rather, though, he rose from his chair and made adjustments to his guitar in his back. I got up just as he was leaving.

"Aren't we discussing?" I inquired.

With his back to me, he paused on the route.

"Do your research, I'll do mine, then we can discuss it tomorrow morning." He started to walk away again, but I stopped him.

"Where?"

"In the class, obviously."

"Are we discussing it in front of everyone?" I was a little confused this time.

He turned to look at me this time. My eyebrows went up; I was quite concerned about this. Will we be discussing it with the entire class? I have to assume that he will speak to me in class since he doesn't even smile at me in front of the class.

Oh! Jokes.

"No," he sighed. Early in the morning, we'll talk about it in class. I believe 30 minutes will be sufficient to choose a song, so I can catch the bus and be there by 7:30.

"7:30?" I said it again.

He gave one nod.

"Can we do it after 11?"

"After the first half, you mean?"

I gave a nod. "After 11, you are in the library, so we can talk at that time."

His eyebrows shot up.

Fuck! That wasn't the right thing to say.

I could come out as creepy to him. Or worse, someone who stalks you. "I-I m-mean you s-said once y-you stay in the library during the break." How come I'm stuttering?

I am a complete wreck.

I'm unable to talk to him. When it comes to him, I lose all sense. When it's him, my mind doesn't function!

Oh my God! Who am I?

He slowly understood me by nodding his head from left to right.

"So, after 11?"

"No, 7:30 am, in the class." I must go to bed, bitch.

You expect me to arrive at class at 7:30, but I consistently arrive late for the 8 am lesson. I get up at 7:30, bro. "No. "After eleven, wherever you say." I objected.

"How about 7:30? In class, we can talk about it. The class wouldn't be offered after eleven.

"I simply cannot. In the music room, we can talk about it. I recommended.

"For heaven's sake, you reside at the hostel. At most, you have ten minutes to get to the lesson. "Bitch! I must sleep. "All right, all right. At 7:30, I'll be there.

"Good." Before turning to depart, he said, "Don't be late."

As usual, I hurried to Abby's room after I got back to my hostel to tell her what had happened.

She pulled me inside after opening the door. "Tell me!"

I actually raced from the music room to my hostel, so I attempted to regain my breath.

"Call Margot," I remarked, then sat down on the bed. While sitting on the bed, she called Margot and invited her to her room. Later in the room, I can give Del the entire story.

"What?" After a few minutes, Margot came in, her eyelids drowsy. She made an angry look while sitting on the bed.

As I stood before them, I said, "Ms. Isabel Morgan is performing in the Symphony Shindig."

And their mouths hung open and their eyes grew big. They both couldn't speak.

"What? "Speak up?"

The two exchanged a startled glance before turning back to face me. Eyes looking up and down at me. I received those perverted glances when I attempted to cover my chest with my hands.

Chapter 4

Isabel Morgan

"What?"

And they both said, "You?" simultaneously.

"Yeah, me. Gentlemen."

"You are the worst singer." "Margot said."

"I am not."

"Are you not ashamed? Quit lying. We've heard you.

"Roughly that... You guys are terrible at your voices, so even though I knew I had a knack, I didn't want to show it off. I therefore concealed my abilities.

"Why are we friends with Abby?" Margot said, turning to face her. The insult is always present.

I laughed.

"Is it the duo thing?" inquired Abby.

I gave a nod.

With a doubtful expression, she inquired, "Who's the partner?"

"Umm..." The back of my neck was scratched.

"Who is the partner?" Margot inquired.

I turned red.

"Why the hell are you so red?"

"Who is it?" they both asked as they dragged me to the bed.

"Sebastian," I whispered.

And then the shouting. They shouted over their voices, and I put my hands over my ears to block off the sound.

Instead of pulling my leg and envisioning how lovely the moments would be, let's forgo the joyous screams.

I told Del everything after I returned to the room. She was also content. We also had the lab class again.

When I got to class after having a nice chat with my closest friend, Aubrey, my friends, as usual, picked the table next to his, and the worst thing is that they had reserved me a seat where Sebastian and I could see each other well.

They simply like making fun of me.

One day, I'll put an end to them bitches!

I gave them a fierce look and sat down.

"I hate you guys."

"Huh!" Del exclaimed. You're delighted with it, so stop complaining."

"Exactly, in your mind, you are dancing right now," Margot said.

Abby laughed.

My eyes automatically went to Sebastian, but I quickly turned away when I saw that he had already fixed me with his gaze.

"Don't you guys have anything to eat?" I inquired.

"Nope." Abby and Margot answered.

Del handed me a lunchbox after beginning to look in her purse.

"You're my saviour." Since I had forgotten my lunch, I grinned and saw a glimmer of optimism.

The box was empty when I opened it.

I gave her a blank stare.

"I had cookies the previous day; now they are gone."

"You are mean!" I said, glaring at her and pushing the lunchbox in her direction.

"Who asked you to diet?"

"I'm not on a diet! I simply dozed off.

"She sleeps all the time," Margot said.

Del laughed. "Funny thing, she has to wake up at 7 in the morning tomorrow and maybe the day after as well."

I pulled a sobbing face. "I know, right, it's torture."

Abby sung. "Love is in the air."

Margot sung. "Loverrrrr... Can I go where you go..."

"Shut up!" I reprimanded.

I lowered my head and pretended to cry as the three of us began to giggle. "I hate him." I sat back up again.

"Shall I wake you up at 6?" Del inquired.

"What? Why would you do that?

"You have to prepare yourself, you have to dress up properly, you need to look beautiful tomorrow."

"Oh yes, you need to look beautiful, babe." She was accompanied by Abby.

"My ass is gorgeous! "Why in the morning?" Whining, I put my hands over my face.

"You can wake up, baby, it's just two days." Margot attempted to inspire me.

Del started by describing, "Huh! Her mother calls her four times before her alarm goes off at six in the morning, and she eventually wakes up at seven thirty. I wonder how she will wake up. The words "Viv" and "early morning" don't even make sense together. However, this time she became very eager and spoke a little too loudly.

To prevent Margot from saying another word, I extended my hand as though it would reach her mouth and shut it.

"Why are you shouting?" She was stopped by Margot.

"I apologize. I apologize. I went a little too far.

However, Stanley and Brody turned to stare at us, so I'm positive her voice was loud enough for the people at the next table to hear us. Brody tried not to giggle as he stared at me.

Take care of yourself, buddy!

My gaze went to him, and I bit my lip... Sebastian was working on something on the table with a pen in his hand. His gaze briefly lingered on me before he turned down to continue working, but a faint smile was visible on his lips.

Murder me!

Even though I enjoy it when he looks at me, I didn't want this.

Believe me, even when I do simple things, there is a part of me that dances when he looks at me.

"Why are you so loud?" Abby slapped her head.

"Attention, class!" The voice of the teacher came.

I'm accustomed to these humiliations now, and they always happen in front of him. Always.

I suppose the cosmos doesn't want him to like me.

We were simply strolling down the street to the hostel after the class. My attention was abruptly drawn to a hot dog stand. I was so hungry that I pulled all three of them along. While we awaited the orders, De ordered four hot dogs and coffee for us.

As soon as the man gave us the hot dogs, I began shoving them into my mouth like a ravenous animal.

"Whoa! This is incredible. As she took a small bite out of her hot dog, Margot spoke.

"Food is life, bro." Del took the tiniest bite and spoke again.

Abby and I were actually cramming the hot dog into our mouths at the time. The hot dog was suddenly filling my mouth. I tried chewing it, but it was really hard.

"Oh look, it's Cheeks!" Del pointed, and as a reaction, I looked back, still struggling to keep the hot dog out of my lips.

I glanced around and saw Sebastian standing there. My eyes widened as he passed directly in front of me, looking me over and passing judgment.

That is entirely within your rights.

You can judge me all you want.

I'm a complete wreck.

I am a complete wreck.

Never again.

I chewed the hot dog as quickly as I could, but wow, it was hard. When I was finished, I swallowed it whole.

He glanced over my shoulder at the stall owner, who was still standing in front of me-or rather, not far away.

Oh my God! He has a wonderful scent.

Get out of my way before I kiss you. I feel like kissing you.

I gazed at him. I was unable to look away from him. He's stunning. As I enjoyed his beauty, I licked my lips.

"Two hot dogs, please." He gave an order.

And he looked at me one last time while I was biting my lip to keep from kissing him. As soon as I realized he was staring at me, I turned my attention back from his lips to his eyes. He simply returned to Brody.

I turned around again, frozen.

"Don't tell me, he saw you like this?" Del said, covering her lips with her palm.

"Shall we look for someone else for you to crush upon?" Abby asked, glancing around.

As she handed me a piece of tissue paper to wipe my lips, Margot said, "That's the only reason I ask you to eat slowly."

"Can we leave, please?" I ask myself as I close my eyes and shove the last of the hot dog into my lips.

"Sure, I don't want the day to get any worse for you," Abby said.

As we walked out of the stall, I waited for Abby to cross the street while holding her hand. Alright, the traffic is heavy here without zebra crossings, and I am not adept at crossing the road.

As she crossed the street, she pulled me along with her since I was standing there, almost gazing up at the sky, and I had forgotten that we needed to cross the street.

"You know what, we'll die one day, and the reason will be you." She reprimanded me.

I turned to look for Sebastian one last time.

He was enjoying his hot dog and chatting with Brody at the hot dog stand. I looked at him and licked my lips.

Oh no! Even while he's eating, he still looks hot.

When I eat, I am a complete mess.

You saw yourself eating when? Perhaps he finds you attractive as well.

I laughed in my head.
