Chapter 4

After another round of chaos, we sat around the dining table, ready to eat.

I was going to be so angry at Kellan's request that I couldn't eat anything. At the thought of this, I thought I had failed my dad, who had carefully prepared a table of delicious food.

I picked up the utensils quickly and took a bite of each dish.

"What are you doing? The guests haven't even started eating yet."

My mom was unhappy as she hit my hand with utensils.

Kellan spoke up for me unexpectedly at this moment, "Sis, don't scold Libby. We aren't guests here anyway. We're all family from now on."

My mother put a piece of pizza in Linda's bowl and smiled happily. She said, "Yes, yes, we are a family."

After swallowing the last bite of food in my mouth, I looked up and waited to watch Kellan's performance.

I saw him raise his glass and stand up. He said to my mother, "Sister, I toast to you. Thank you for taking care of me all these years."

"Since my parents passed away one after another, you have loved and cared for me like a mother. Because of you, I grew up healthy, and I am happy."

Both had tears streaming down their faces, sobbing bitterly.

Kellan raised his head and drank the wine in one gulp. Hugging my mother and crying, he said, "Sister, thank you. If it weren't for you, I would be an orphan that nobody wanted."

My mother was moved. She lightly punched Kellan's back, saying, "You child. Why are you saying these things? Being like a mother to you is what I should do. As long as I am alive, I will take care of your matters."

I had watched this kind of touching scene between siblings twice.

I couldn't help but applaud Kellan's super-good acting. If he joined the showbiz industry, he might achieve something there.

I clapped my hands and said, "It is so touching, indeed touching!"

As I said that, I pretended to wipe away some tears.

My mother shot me a glance, and I shrugged obediently.

I had a mouthful of food to indicate that I would keep quiet.

Kellan took a deep breath and held Linda with one hand while pulling my mother with the other.

The real performance was about to begin.

Chapter 5

I took the last bite of food, put down the utensils, and stared at Kellan intently.

He looked at his girlfriend, Linda, and said to my mother, "Sister, I do treat you as my mother, so I'm just being straightforward."

"Linda's mother agreed to our marriage, but her condition is that I have to have my own house. We can't live together or rent a house after getting married."

"But with my current situation, buying a house..."

Before he finished his words, my mother laughed and said, "Silly child. I thought it was something serious. Leave the house matter to me. I'll take care of it for you."

Kellan was in disbelief. Then he pulled Linda and jumped up excitedly.

"I am right. My sister will help me."

I widened my eyes. I didn't expect that my mom would choose to buy a house for Kellan in this lifetime.

I kicked the chair open with one foot. I couldn't help but shout in anger.

"Mom, I didn't know our family was so rich. You can buy a house just like that."

I stunned my mom with my retort. Then she winked at me and said, 'Why are you so surprised? There's always a way. Let's eat first. The food is getting cold."

I looked at my dad, who had been silent the whole time. His face was pale. He hadn't touched the food in his bowl.

Feeling soreness swelling in my heart, I snatched the utensils from my mom's hands.

"Mom, don't rush to eat. First, tell me how you will get the money to buy him a house."

"You can't even afford a house, but you're getting married. Whoever marries you will be doomed for multiple generations."

"Linda, are you planning to marry this useless guy, Kellan? You're so beautiful, and you come from a good family. How can your taste be so bad?"

I spun around and accused all three of them indiscriminately.

Before Kellan could stand up, I quickly hid behind my dad.

He clenched his fist so tightly that his knuckles made a cracking sound. Gritting his teeth, he said, "You little brat. My sister loves me, and she is willing to buy me a house. What's it to you?"

I raised my head and replied, "Why is it none of my business? My parents' money is my property. Why should it all be wasted on you?"

Kellan had always been bad-tempered. Today, he had been suppressing his anger. After all, he needed something from us.

At this point, he couldn't hold back anymore. He pulled out a chair and intended to come and grab me. Then he said, "You bitch. I think you're just itching for a beating, aren't you?"

My dad stood in front of me, trying his best to protect me from being hit.

Suddenly, my dad raised his hand and flipped the entire dining table over. He said, "Get out, all of you."

Everyone was shocked by my father's sudden outburst. After all, he had been such an honest person.

My mom signaled to Kellan to leave first.

Kellan left with his girlfriend in a dejected manner.

I wanted to see how my mom, who had been reborn, would continue to make a scene.
