Zoe said sarcastically, "Dad, Mom, have you seen that? Your daughter has grown so independent that she doesn't care about anyone."
My father got angry and rushed over to slap me, but I grabbed his arm and he couldn't move.
"Dad, don't get angry all the time! Tell me, what did I say that was wrong?"
Zoe said sharply, "You are totally wrong! This is the Jones family. You must listen to your parents!"
My mother came over to pull my father and complained in a low voice, "Cathy, I don't want to blame you! But we just want you to move out for a few days. Why are you making a fuss?"
"A few days? Mom, don't think I don't know! Zoe just found a new job for her brother, so he plans to stay for a long time! This is my home. Why should I make room for outsiders?"
"How can my brother be an outsider? Since I married into the Jones family, my brother is also your family. You must treat him as your brother!"
Zoe waved her arms excitedly, saying and spitting.
Treating him as my brother?
Ridiculous!
It was acceptable for my parents, David and Zoe to take my money, but why should I spend money on Zoe's lazy brother?
They really treated me as a sucker!
"Zoe, you are really shameless! My parents have been unwilling to give me the key to that small house I bought before. Your parents are living there, right?"
"Right, so what? Fuck."
Zoe pointed at my nose to scold me so harshly.
My parents and brother just watched us, with no intention of stopping her.
I glanced at them one by one, "You are determined to drive me away, right?"
Zoe gritted her teeth and said, "Yes!"
"You are not going to give me back either of these two houses?"
My dad glared at me, "Nonsense! Don't even think about the houses. They have nothing to do with you!"
"It is not up to you to decide! Let's wait and see!"
I was desperate and suddenly didn't want to stay there even for a minute.
I didn't want to waste time talking to them.
It was a small matter that could be solved by hiring a lawyer.
I didn't take anything with me and left home.
That suitcase was discarded by David, and those old clothes were given to me by Zoe because she no longer wanted them. I didn't want them either.
I found the best five-star hotel in the city to stay in and consulted the best lawyer.
I was the one who paid the down payment for the houses and paid off the mortgage by myself. The lawyer said it would not be difficult to get the houses back.
After hanging up the phone, I felt depressed and uncomfortable. I wanted to cry but couldn't.
My parents favored boys over girls, so they always favored David. If my grandparents hadn't paid for my tuition, I wouldn't have had the chance to finish high school.
After I was admitted to university, I worked four jobs at the same time at most, and sometimes I was so tired that I fell asleep while standing. After graduation, I also worked a full-time job during the day and a part-time job at a fast food restaurant at night.
After working hard for several years, I finally managed to get my parents and David to move out of my grandparents' dilapidated house, ending the crowded life.
With the two houses, I didn't need to work totally.
Unexpectedly, I was kicked out of the house overnight.
Just because I was unemployed, they completely turned against me.
What ridiculous the family love was. It could disappear easily.
But I was also lucky. Looking at the balance on my bank card, I couldn't help but smile.
At least I still had money, one hundred million dollars, which I couldn't spend in ten lifetimes!
I bought a sea view villa in a wealthy area.
I got up when I wanted every day, did yoga, and watched TV. Life was so comfortable.
There was an owner group of the villa community. After I added it, everyone greeted me enthusiastically.
They were all rich ladies at home, and every day they talked about makeup, clothes and so on. I wasn't interested in those things before, but now my mindset changed. Now that I had money, of course I should treat myself better, so I also enthusiastically joined their topics.
After a few days, I became familiar with them and we often made plans to go out for coffee and shopping together.
I was shopping in a luxury store with my rich friends when my dad called me in a rage.
"You wicked girl, you actually sued us! The court summons has been delivered, and your mother and I are laughed at by the neighbors! You ungrateful bastard! If I had known you would be like this, I should have strangled you to death when you were born!"
My mother snatched the phone and cried hysterically, "We just had a few arguments with you. Why do you have to make such a fuss? Now we feel so embarrassed in the community. They almost think we treated you unfairly."
I couldn't help but sneer, "Isn't that the truth?"
They had never been nice to me. Now they even kicked me out of my house.
Since I was a child, I had always had endless housework to do as soon as I got home.
But I never minded because we were family. But after David got married and especially had a baby, I had more things to do and was more tired every day.
No matter how nice I was to them, my parents and Zoe were always dissatisfied. They really treated me as a free servant.
My good friends joked that I must have owed them in my previous life, so I had to work like a slave to pay off my debt. I could only smile bitterly.
"Cathy, we gave birth to you and raised you. This is a great favor. What else do you want?"
"I don't want anything but justice!"
After saying that, I hung up the phone.
My friends and I had a great time going shopping.
Just as we were about to leave the mall, I accidentally saw my Zoe walking towards me, talking and laughing with a middle-aged man.
They looked so affectionate, just like a couple in love.
When Zoe saw me, she was horrified and quickly pushed the man away.
"Cathy, you stalk me! I didn't expect you to be that kind of person! Why don't you go find a job right away but follow me?"
Seeing her guilty look, I didn't get angry but laughed, "I am in no hurry to find a job and not interested in stalking you either! Who the hell do you think you are?"
At that time, my friend Mary Lee couldn't stand it anymore, "Ms. Jones, who is this?"
"It's my brother's wife!"
She exclaimed, "Ben Cox, you are actually involved with a married woman. Aren't you afraid that your wife will find out?"
It turned out that Mary knew that middle-aged man!
Zoe rolled her eyes and lied, "I'm not her brother's wife. She's talking nonsense! I'm an employee under Mr. Cox! Our relationship is not what you think it is. Don't get us wrong!"
Ben also waved his hands repeatedly and stood a little further away to prove his innocence.
"Cathy, I'm warning you, if you tell David about it, I'll rip your mouth!"
As soon as she finished speaking, David appeared.
He came here with his boss to buy things. He saw from afar that Zoe and I seemed to be arguing, so he hurried over.
"Cathy, I'm warning you, don't make Zoe angry! She's just pregnant with her second child. If she gives birth to a son, it will be a great contribution to our family!"
"Our family? From the day you kicked me out, I have nothing to do with you anymore!"
David's face immediately darkened, "It's not up to you to decide. You are too stupid! Even if you win the case against our parents, you still have to pay alimony!"
"Both houses are mine anyway, so the alimony is nothing to me."
Speaking of the houses, Zoe lost her temper, "Those two houses are ours. Don't even think about taking them away!"
Zoe was always unreasonable.
I worked so hard to buy the houses. Now I just took them back.
"I have hired a lawyer, and I will get the houses back soon. You two should go back to pack your things and discuss where you will live in the future."
"You..."
Zoe was so angry that her face turned red. She turned around and slapped David.
"You just watch that Cathy bullies me like this? Are you dead?"
Then David rushed over to hit me, but my friends swarmed over him and held him tightly.
Ben glared at Zoe and said, "Why don't you get your husband out of here? You can't afford to offend these women. They all live in the villa community."
Zoe looked at me in astonishment, "How did you get together with them? Are you working as a servant for them?"
Mary glanced at her with disdain, "What nonsense! Cathy is our neighbor!"
"You rented a villa? Where did you get the money? Did you get married to Jim without telling us? How much money did he give you? Every penny of yours belongs to the Jones family. Give us your money!"
Mary sneered, "Cathy's villa is not rented. She bought it in full!"
David and Zoe were stunned, "What?"
